Male Human Warrior/2{HP 20 | AC 16 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | F +4| R +2| W -1| Init +2 | Per -1}

Haldorf moves over aswell "No, Variziel. I think the quicker we get in there the better. She could be hurt."

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 16

There was only one outburst of moaning, after Micha pounded on the door. It stopped after a couple seconds, and all is now silent save for the raucous cawing of a murder of crows taking their rest in a nearby tree.

Female Human Adept/ 1

Pushing past the Elf, not at all understanding his caution or even why he has a weapon drawn, and frustrated and worried with all the delay she finally expresses her frustration almost yelling "What is the matter with you? Klaudia could be hurt! Or very sick! And you're stepping like a dragon is about to jump out at you! Get out of my way!" and if no one else stops her, she rushes forward and opens the door to the house, loudly calling out "Klaudia! Klaudia! Where are you? Are you ok?? We're here to help!"

The door opens into the sitting/dining room that makes up the front half of the first floor. You can see the kitchen in back through the open doorway, and there is a set of sturdy wooden stairs leading up the to the second floor on the right side as you enter. In the dining room there is a round unadorned wooden table with four high backed chairs around it, as well as a fireplace now empty except for some ashes. There are bundles of herbs and spices hanging from the rafters drying.

The moan can again be heard coming from upstairs "help..."

Female Human Adept/ 1

"Oh Klaudia! We're coming!" the Eleeda yells where hurrying up the stairs. As she does she calls over her shoulder "Father! Hurry! She sounds hurt!"

Squaking loudly in response to her emotion, Keroc flaps quickly up the stairs, just ahead of his mistress.

m human expert 2

I heard moaning. She must be hurt.

Micha also heads up the stairs, right behind Eleeda

The stairs lead up into the loft bedroom of Klaudia's house. It takes up the whole upper floor and is well lit by both east and west facing windows. There is a large wardrobe pushed up against one wall, as well as a dresser and next to that a broad four poster bed. Laying in the bed is Klaudia, her skin pale and drenched in sweat. Her night clothes and sheets are twisted around her and are soaked through. The room reeks with the sickly-sweet odor of sickness. Her eyes roll lazily towards Eleeda and Micha, peering at them through the strands of blonde hair plastered to her face. She grabs the sheets and attempts to rise, but only makes it half an inch or so before collapsing back into bed. "help me..." she pleads.

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Variziel moves aside at the youngling's protests. So quick to act... was I ever that way? Variziel can't help but wonder. He turns to Father Griswald. "Is it just me, or are you also dreading what might be here?"

The elf moves up the stairs, following the others, after glancing into the kitchen...

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

In the bedroom, Variziel is quick to sheathe his sword, but he doesn't approach Klaudia's bed. He simply looks on in shock and some horror, wondering what could have ravaged the poor woman so.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

Following the elf inside, Griswald nods. "I just hope she's alright."

As the door opens and reveals Klaudia Griswald sighs in releif. Alive. Thank the Mother.

"Everyone back up. Micha, don't touch her, whatever she's got might be communicable."

Reaching into his satchel the big priest retrieves a hook-beaked doctors mask and a pair of thin leather gloves. Dawning them, he approached the bed.

"Klaudia, it's Father Griswald. Can you tell me what's wrong?"

Heal check, diagnose illness: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

m human expert 2

Micha runs downstairs to get a bucket of water, a cup and a towel

Her eyes focus briefly on Griswald and she manages to get out, "so hot....Bischa...rat...help me..."

Griwswald, she's got a high fever. Pushing back the sheets you see that there is an angry looking swollen bite on her ankle, about the size and shape of a candy corn. Her pupils are widely dialated and her heartbeat is slow. Her skin is quite pale and there is redness around the lips. Her lymph nodes are swollen as well. You've never seen anything like this before.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

"Oh, dear."

Turning away, he looked around the room. "Haldorf, I need you to go as quickly as you can and bring the High Priestess. Tell her I need her help and that I need the Lexicon of Contagion from the Sanctuary."

To the others he said "I need to bring her fever down and clean this wound. I need a bucket of cold water from the well and a kettle of boiling water. Ask Micha where the linens are. We are going to need new bed sheets."

Looking back to the stricken woman he said "It's going to be alright. We're going to help you."

Male Human Warrior/2{HP 20 | AC 16 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | F +4| R +2| W -1| Init +2 | Per -1}

Haldorf doesn't waste any time and leaves the house immediately. He leaves the wagon in case the group needs it for transport and sprints across town to the high priestess, out of breath he tries to get his words across "Grab a horse or somethin...Klaudia's sick we...we need you and the Lexicon of Contagion and quick."

Haldorf:

Haldorf finds Priestess Anna still in the courtyard, overseeing the preparations for the feast. His outburst catches her off guard, and at first she looks ready to scold him for his tone. Then one eyebrow raises as she realizes the gravity of the situation. "Of course. Follow me Haldorf." She turns gracefully on one heel and grabbing her raiment she begins walking towards the temple at a brisk clip. Her pace is impressive considering the impractical footwear of her office. The temple is very near to the keep and the pair make it there quickly. Ned the acolyte is sitting in the courtyard of the temple reading from the Book of Seven. Anna interrupts him with a stern command, "Ned saddle my horse immediately, there's an emergency. Haldorf, go inside and ask Sister Penitence to bring you the Lexicon. I must change into something suitable for riding and fetch my tools." without waiting for a response she click-clacks off into the dormitory wing of the temple. Ned rushes off to do as he's bid, leaving his copy of the Book dropped half open on his chair. Haldorf quickly finds himself alone in the temple courtyard.

Klaudia's House:

Klaudia reaches out and squeezes Griswald's hand lightly at his reassurance. Her grip loosens after a few seconds and the hand slips back down onto the bed as she begins coughing heavily.

Even running it's going to take Haldorf about 15 minutes to run to the keep, and return with the Priestess. What are the rest of you doing in that time?

Male Human Warrior/2{HP 20 | AC 16 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | F +4| R +2| W -1| Init +2 | Per -1}

Haldorf wipes the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hands and heads into the temple he has a quick look to see if he can spot sister Penitence.

Once he finds her he blurts "Sister we need the Lexicon. Klaudia is sick and the High Priestess says she needs it."

The old priestess can be found kneeling in prayer before the statues of the seven, she's currently before the Mother. At Haldorf's approach she opens her eyes and says in her reedy old voice, "Oh..hmm.humm...Which lexicon is that sonny?" She struggles to her feet, her back bent with age and her arthritic hands resembling bird's talons. "Help an old woman to the library, won't you?" she asks, holding out her hand. Her wrinkled sun darkened face has a smile as always and her silvery hair gleams softly in the multicolored light that filters through the rainbow colored stained-glass windows.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

I'm going to cool her down with soaked rags, see if she can drink, and use my healing kit on that bite.

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Variziel quickly unbuckles his sword, bow, and quiver, leaning them against one wall, and drapes his cloak over them, allowing him to move with a little more ease in the house. He dashes down the stairs and to the well, gathering a bucketful of water, and quickly and gracefully brings it back to the Father.

"What is this, Griswald?" the elf whispers. "I'm no doctor, but I've never even heard of something like this..." Variziel nods at Klaudia's ankle. "And what could have done that? A rat? I doubt it."

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

"I don't know. She has the symptoms of a few different illnesses. She may have more than one disease, or something new. For now we just have to treat the symptoms."

m human expert 2

Micha will start the stove to heat water. He keeps sneaking up stairs to check on Klaudia also

Female Human Adept/ 1

Wringing her hands and feeling helpless, Eleeda pleads with the priest "Oh Father, please help her! I know you can help her, right?"

Knowing she's doing nothing to help, she finally says "She mentioned something about Bischa, maybe I should go and see if she's ok?"

m human expert 2

Micha will also point out the side cupboard holding the fresh linens as well as heating the stove for the water.

Please save her father, I will come to church more often I promise

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

Better give 'em something to do while we're waiting. Nothing's better for anxiety than work.

"I'm going to do everything I can. Go check on the cow you two, see if she has any symptoms as well. Not many illnesses are cross species. Knowing will help narrow down the list. If you see any rats, try to kill them but don't touch them and don't get bit."

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

"What would you have me do, Griswald?" Variziel asks. "I can even serve as simply as standing guard, making sure no one else interrupts your work."

Female Human Adept/ 1

Nodding at Griswald, Eleeda glances at Micha and grabs his hand for support whispering "She'll be fine, I just know it. Especially with the High Priestess coming. You'll see, everything will be ok." whether she says these words more to convince Micha, or herself though, is unclear.

Louder she says "Let's go check on Bischa" and giving his hand one last squeeze, and a last look at Klaudia, she leaves the room and heads towards the barn.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

After the others left Griswald shook his head. "I am afraid there is not much too do, my friend."

Something told the big priest that more than the others, the elf would recognize the reality of the situation and the need for simple patience.

"But, you can help me keep her cool while I get this wound clean. Just change the cloths every few minutes and try to get the windows open. A breeze would do wonders."

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Variziel sighs. "That was my fear."

The elf moves to the windows, forcing them open (essentially taking 20 if you want a check). Watching over the woman he fears to be dying, changing the clothes when they look in need, the elf glances at the priest. "I watched a warrior die of infection, once. On prolonged field exercises. He got a nasty cut and didn't wash it clean in time..."

The warrior trails off, then seems to come back to the present. "It wasn't as bad as this," he murmurs, and changes the clothes.

m human expert 2

Micha will head towards the barn with Eleeda, handaxe in hand ready to kill the rat that bit Klaudia.

She has to be fine. The father will cure her I know it

Klaudia's House:

Okay Griswald, we'll say that you're doing the treat disease option of the Heal skill. Please give me a heal check.

Treat Disease:
To treat a disease means to tend to a single diseased character. Every time the diseased character makes a saving throw against disease effects, you make a Heal check. If your Heal check exceeds the DC of the disease, the character receives a +4 competence bonus on his saving throw against the disease."

Klaudia's House

Eleeda and Micha walk over to the stalls. The large door is closed and barred from the outside.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Male Human Warrior/2{HP 20 | AC 16 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | F +4| R +2| W -1| Init +2 | Per -1}

Haldorf kneels down beside the old lady and allows helps to gently pull her up. He starts to walk her towards the library "The Lexicon of Contagion." His voice is calmer now.

Temple:

"Ah yes. That lexicon." Together they make their way to the library and Sister Penitence leads Haldorf over to a podium with a large wood-bound vellum tome. "Here you are sonny." she says patting the thick book.

House:

Griswald cleans the wound and is able to draw a fair amount of greyish-green, thick, bloody puss from the bite and surrounding flesh. He gets Klaudia wiped up and sat up in bed, helping her to drink some water.

Eleeda and Micha, what are you doing?

m human expert 2

Since we still think we are only dealing with a rat--Micha would unbar the door. Would be no reason not to.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

"Klaudia, I know you're tired, but I need you to tell me when you were bitten."

Male Human Warrior/2{HP 20 | AC 16 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | F +4| R +2| W -1| Init +2 | Per -1}

Thankyou sister. Haldorf heads back outside and gives the book to The High Priestess.

Temple:

Anna is waiting in the courtyard dressed in a simple, form-fitting wool dress with a divided skirt for riding. The rainbow headband has been converted into a hair tie, which is holding her hair back in a pony tail. Ned comes out leading a beautiful white mare who Haldorf has seen around town before. Anna's horse, Snowflake, is probably the best in town. She mounts up, and patting the saddle behind her says, "Come Haldorf. We are needed." Mounting up behind her, Haldorf can feel the beautiful woman's soft flesh pressed tightly against him. He finds himself in the awkward position of having nothing to hold on to but her hips. Before he has much time to consider his predicament Anna kicks snowflake's flanks and says, "Hyia!" and he's forced to grab on tightly as the mare gallops off.

Meanwhile...

House:

Inside Klaudia stares at Griswald with glassy eyes and whispers, "...before...Bischa"

In front of the barn, Micha lifts the heavy wooden bar from the door and throws it open. The stench that hits his and Eleeda's nostrils is appalling. It smells like no one has cleaned the stalls in weeks, and on top of that the sickly sweet scent of rotting flesh and bodily fluids fills their nostrils, causing them to gag involuntarily. The large form of Bischa can be seen in the shadowy rear of the barn, in her stall. At the sound of the doors opening the cow slowly turns, stumbling oddly. Hobbling forward into the light, the two young villagers are horrified by what they see.

Initiative:

Eleeda:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Micha:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Griswald:1d20 ⇒ 13
Variziel:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Bishca:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Initiative:
Eleeda 21
Griswald 13
Variziel 7
Micha 6
Bicha 3

It's gonna take about another seven or eight minutes for Anna and Haldorf to get there.

Map

Eleeda, you're up.

Female Human Adept/ 1

Waiting for map access, and meanwhile, just to be clear, is Bischa attacking us? Also, who drew that pic?? It's awesome!

I drew the map, the zombie cow no idea, found it on google. Bischa hasn't attacked you yet. However, that's usually what undead monsters do. :P

Edit: The URL says the zombie cow is by goku252525, whoever that it.

m human expert 2

sent in request for access--brum1555

Wow. I forgot to turn sharing on. Sorry guys. Fixed now. I was wondering what you meant Eleeda. Derpa durp! -smacks self-

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Well, I suppose that at this point, Variziel will just wait for the first scream...

m human expert 2

have to head to denver for a few hours. Micha would try to slam the door shut and bar it on his turn. But may depend on what Eleeda does.

Female Human Adept/ 1

True to her 15yr old girlish self, Eleeda screams long and lough in horror at the site before her. Never having seen anything the like before, she backs away, partially hiding behind Micha as she grips his shoulder in a death grip and yells "Micha! What...what is that?? What happened to Bicha??"

No actions, other than screaming, and merely moving to stand behind and Micha

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Variziel leaps up at the sound of Eleeda's scream, grabbing his sword from its place against the wall. He considers using the stairs for but a moment, deciding to rely on speed and agility instead. Using a technique from his training called "dynamic entry," Variziel leaps out the window...

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

...landing gracefully. The elf hits the ground running, sprinting to Eleeda and Micha's position outside the barn. "What's going on?" he asks, barely even breathing hard. On the inside, though, his heart and mind are racing, due both to Eleeda's scream and the leap through the window. How long has it been since I last did anything like that?

Taking a double move, toward Eleeda and Micha after the window jump, as far as I can this round.

HP 18/18, AC 10, Fort +3, Ref +0, Will +5, Rebuke Death 6/6, Hero Points 7

Griswald could only stare at the elf's amazing reaction time. The big priest himself was not so explosive or graceful. Looking down to Klaudia he said "It's ok. We'll be right back."

Slipping out the door he made his way through the house and out the back door.

Double move through the house. Not sure where that puts me.

Round 1
Initiative 21

Eleeda screams and steps behind Micha

Initiative 13

Griswald reacts first, reassuring Klaudia then moving down through the house.

Initiative 7

Variziel leaps through the back window tumbling onto the ground gracefully. He runs into the cow pen in time to see Micha and Eleeda backing away from the barn door in horror.

Initiative 6

Move action over to the door (this thing is 15' wide), move action to shut it. Another move action to pick up the bar and a fourth to put it in place. In other words two turns worth of actions.

Micha's eyes go wide, and he slams the door shut. As he struggles to get the bar in place...

Initiative 3

...Bischa slams into the other side.

Str check Micha 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Str check Bischa 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Fueled by his terror, Micha manages to hold the door shut against the weight of the cow.

End Round 1
------------------
Begin Round 2

Initiative:
Eleeda 21
Griswald 13
Variziel 7
Micha 6
Bicha 3

Map

Eleeda your go.

Female Human Adept/ 1

Lunging forward to aid Micha in his holding the door closed, Eleeda, yells over her shoulder at the approaching Elf, sobs of terror shaking her voice as she speaks, "Variziel! I don't...it's horrible!...Bishca...I've never seen...!" barely able to get a coherent message out.

Move: forward to door.
Stnd: Strength Aid to Micha: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Waiting tables, carrying trays of full mugs and bowls, hauling kegs around, all have put Eleeda into much better shape than most girls her age. Her natural strength, along with her bone-chilling terror, both combine to lend her great strength as she pushes against the door.

Your strength modifier is +0, not +11. However, you still got a pretty good roll. Putting the bar on would also work.

Male Half-elf Fighter (cad) 1

Variziel dashes up to the young humans. "What is it?" the elf asks, frowning, and then he stares at the door as it thumps, sounding like something heavy hit the other side. "By the Children, what is it?!" the elf shouts, not caring that he just spoke what is essentially blasphemy against the Seven by invoking the names of his own gods. He grips his sword all the tighter, coming to a halt against the door with the others.

Double move action to the northernmost square by the door.

m human expert 2

Bicha is, well she is different. Like rotted away and mean now. I think she wants to hurt us. We need to bar the door and try to crawl up the loft or something to look down at her. Maybe it can help us find a cure for Klaudia

move: pick up bar
std: drop the bar into the slot
