John, I have played both as well. In fact, Mists was one of my first scenarios played, and the first that I ran.
As for Season 3: I just played Rats I, and will be finishing next month. Guess I should update my scenarios!
Of course, that means I could GM those for you all. :D
The thing is since EotT started in season 1, it would be scenarios prior to it that would matter. So, I say we play what we want!
PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |
We have at least 11 more scenarios to go, and at least a few at half speed for some of us to make sure we all end up at exactly level 12.
I am with Damien, I would like to do all the season 7s with the drongos together. By the time we get close to level 12 they will be talking about season 8, so we should be able to hit them all.
In general I don't like taking half credit because there are a limited amount of scenarios with which to get credit, but we can always consider going slow track for the purpose of fitting in some of the appropriate early season stuff to get introduced to the characters in the big story.
I had a bug today that I would create a "road map" for the drongos to get to 12, just haven't gotten to it yet.
For the lower level scenarios, I would be happy to take the alts through, or give the alts to John or whoever to run some scenarios. Of the four you suggested I have played three, the only one I haven't played is frozen fingers.
Errrr..... More later.

I tend to agree with the point about slow tracking. However, to me the best reason is to let your friends catch up to you. We should all hit 12th together, or at least close enough. If some of us have to sit out a scenario or two (or run them) it works, too.
Levels 10&11 are the hardest to get scenarios for, because they have only one tier they qualify for. They can also be among the most complex, at least in the tens of their encounters. We've got a good cream, though, so we just need to get us all to the San level, many move forward. I'd like to SE some of those early scenarios, but also he new ones.
II am saving four of my replays for eyes... That leaves me something like 7 available right now, and I will use them, but I'd like to do it judiciously. And only if there isn't a choice, if you know what I mean.
Damien Wilmann |
No need to use replays you don't want to. There are plenty of scenarios at tier 5-9 then 7-11 that we haven't played yet... and that's just this season!
Slow tracking has been fixed now (so you can do it one scenario at a time) so that will be great. We'll need to plan it a little, but after Siege is over, we should all be posting our XP so I can collect that and figure out who needs to sub out, slow track or whatever.
I've also just realized that we should try to play exclusively 5-9s at level 9 so that we're not between tiers at any given point. So, once that's done I will put together a mini-plan for your collective approval (taking us to level 10.0).
Suffice it to say, Bold Strider, the next game we've agreed to play together is The Ironbound Schism... so if you'd like to prep, I believe that will be a good one.

Ok, a few more thoughts that dovetail nicely with what you have been talking about.
Since you must be exactly level 12 (33 xp) to start EotT, then IMO we need to sync up sooner rather than later. This really shouldn't be difficult as Damien mentioned with the change to slow track.
The point I was trying to make is that a handful of us will need 11 scenarios (at normal track) to get to 33. If we wanted to get all the season 7 stuff in, and still add some of the high tier stuff that was suggested in that thread, we could slow track a few to squeeze a few more chronicles in. No big deal on that.
I am definitely down with getting low tier scenarios that help introduce NPCs and Players in the story with the alts. Whether I run them, John, Silbeg, or Jyri doesn't really matter. We have a lot of time really, so this is a bit back-burner for now.
Agree with Damien - save your replays unless you want to. Don't feel forced to. I would personally prefer to keep the whole band together with minimal character switching. That is just my preference though, and is primarily for the story/continuity sake. We have shown we can still write a pretty good story if a few character change now and then.
This is going to be AWESOME. :)

A couple of things:
1) I'm still looking for players for Dragon's Demand. PM me if you are interested. You will get a reserve spot in case someone decides to decline. The game is held offsite, so in case you are Paizo-only, it might be an issue for you.
2) Once I'm done with most of my current PbPs I'm ready to run a game. I prefer running Seasons 0, 1, and 2, because I'm familiar with them.
3) I have played but not ran EotT. I'm guessing it could work well as a "big, 5xp module", but I fear it would eventually feel lackluster. If at all possible, try to play it IRL.
Damien Wilmann |
@GM Bold Strider:
Thank you so much again. I'm so freaking excited! As for the PbP Gameday gift card, use that for something just for you... allow me to sort out at least the first 3 season 7 scenarios for you... and... done.
@Deussu:
1 & 2) Still trying to reduce my PbP load for now. Still, let me know when you run those season 0, 1 or 2 scenarios because I don't get many opportunities to play them (and there are some I'd like to play that our core group can't play together).
3) The Drongos have always been about PbP, and Jyri lives in Finland. While I concede that IRL would be best, I would 100% rather play it with Jyri (and a full set of the others) over PbP than without using any other format. Jyri, if you decide to come to the USA and you will have 2+ days spare to spend on doing nothing but roleplaying... let us know!!!
Damien Wilmann |
So I've just been tinkering and tidying up the Scenario Planner. I noticed that Jack has already played the Ironbound Schism. We'd decided on that for the Drongo's first season 7 a while back now (while planning PbP Gameday IV, as marked on the "current and pending" tab that Steve did up).
So, Jack, would you like to sit that one out or use a replay? I know it's hard to reserve stuff over PbP when there are so many games on offer IRL (I also understand that you may have intended to GM that one, though John had already claimed it) but it would be nice if in future the scenarios we've already decided to play together over PbP stayed off limits. Most of we Drongos still rely on PbP for our PFS fun.
Damien Wilmann |
Oh, that also brings up the Heresy of Man. We were originally talking about playing that one with the Drongos, too. Jyri has already played Pt II... so, GM Bold Strider, do you have a character you could play with in place of running why Jyri runs that one?
It's a 5-9, so if we decide we still want to play that one, the 3 parts will cover us from level 9-10.
Silbeg |
I thought we were doing heresy of man next? Not ironbound schism (which I have played, and prepped). Playing it happened at skalcon when my table didn't happen and I filled in a table that Keith was running.
Happens.
Also, at the time, I was expecting to run EotT for you all, not play it... So I was working on getting another character (Angelo) up to 12th.
Damien Wilmann |
Yeah, the plans have changed a bit regarding who was or wasn't running. Still, while Heresy was next, Ironbound was still planned after that (from before Skalcon).
Bold Strider, have you bought the scenario yet? If not, may be best to skip it in favor of Heresy of Man. We should then try to make sure we know which season 7s to "save" for the Drongos, though.

Sorry for lack of posts today, really hectic day today. Not sure if I manage a post to Technic Siege until tomorrow.
I'm cool with the plan with Heresy of Man. Was there anything else in tier 5-9 of must play-list?
And if I'm coming to U.S. with gaming in mind, I'll definitely tell you guys about it. I'm secretly hoping I'd make it to GenCon this year...

Uh... how in the world did I read over that?!? That would be amazing... All the Drongos*, sitting at one table.

Jack - Now that you have GM'd a bajillion games and are 5 stars, are you planning on playing primarily at this GenCon?
Papasteve08 |
Question: Why Drongos?
Heh.
Short version - Damien likes alliteration.
Slightly longer version - This group started with Damien as our GM, the first time he tried his (at the time, unpatented) method of recruiting for a table. We all clicked and had a ton of fun, and decided to just keep on rolling. Eventually, we started secondary characters, then tertiary characters, and others in the group would GM those groups of characters on their own path.
Damien came up with a way to differentiate the groups.
First was Damo's Drongos (Drongo is austrailian slang for fool/idiot/n'er do well)
Then was Silbeg's Slayers
Then Bob's Beasts
Then we started Reign of Winter, and ditched the alliteration to call that group of characters the Misfits. (we are a motley crew. A halfling skinned as a human child, an Oread, a Half Elf, a Human, and goblin.)
So anyways... Yea. Drongos is the name we gave to our "Main*" group of characters that you have so generously agreed to GM for us and that we will eventually take through Eyes of the Ten.
I don't know about everyone else, but I have begun to associate that group nickname to our real-live group as well. We may or may not play the actual Drongo character group at Gen Con next year, depending on how far we get.
Last year we had Damien (aka Damo), Chris L. (aka Lockwood), Jack (aka Silbeg) and myself. This year we may also get all of us, plus be able to add John (aka Bob, TheBobJones) and Jyri (aka Karma). That would be amazeballs.
*The Mains (Drongos) are:
- Damien/Damo = Lort the Mighty
- John/TheBobJones = Lord Finarin Moonstep
- Chris Lockwood = Ibid. Oxely Able.
- Jack/Silbeg = Gunari
- Jyri/Karma = Amaranti (and Kaisharga)
- Papasteve/Steve = Cyrus the flea

As for Gen Con, I am still planning on going as a tier 2 GM at this time... can't pass up the free room and con! Plus, I have had so much fun GMing there, I want to keep doing it. Plus, maybe eventually I will get good at it ;)
I am planning on mostly playing at Paizo Con -- maybe a slot or two GMing, but mostly playing. We've got an interesting crew going (Me, Jon, Ryan Bolduan, Keith, AJ, perhaps more). Damien has met 'em all, the Drongos that were at Gen Con have met most (excepting Ryan).
But, I will reserve at least one play slot to play with the Drongos. I am thinking I should play one slot with a total set of "randoms". Just for fun! Of course, I'd likely spring Luscious Lucius Vizzini on that table (he's my rat pimp -- aka ratfolk thassalonian specialist (Lust))

And you can count on the freaking officials giving you ever freaking call, and never calling anything against your blessed team. Saint Aaron only has to fall down like a FIFA soccer player and he gets a roughing the passer call, or mime throwing a flag to get pass interference.

Happy Thanksgiving! I watched the football, but since I live in Texas, they broadcast the Dallas vs Carolina travesty. Hello Tony Romo... oh, goodbye Tony Romo. Dude gets injured more often than my boisterous 3 year old in the playground. Meh. Cowboys did better last week without him anyway.
@Steve: Awesome win for you. Don't forget we're going to the Bellagio in Vegas to collect on your bet when the Lions win the Superbowl!

These last three wins in a row have done a lot to bolster my unquenchable optimism.
Can't wait to beat the Packers for the second time this year next Thursday...

You've got a Fevah! And the only prescription, is more cowbell!
Seriously - hope you feel better. Fevers suck

Thanks boys, feeling okay today. Throat and sinuses only. No fever. My wife is home with me, though, she's going through what I did yesterday.
As for Lufien, he's off the grid. Never gave us anything other than an old AoL email address. Not answering emails, not active on any aliases. I'm hoping he just decided to completely disconnect from PbP without warning and nothing bad happened to him.
Damien Wilmann |
So, @GM Bold Strider, our last game just finished up - or is about to. Here's something from our discussion there.
So, after this we'll have:
- Ibid: 8.1
- Amaranti: 8.0
- Finarin: 8.1
- Lort: 8.2
- Gunari: 8.25
- Cyrus: 8.1
I'd have to revisit the Zedroom to know for sure, but I think part of the issue was that Jack had already played The Ironbound Schism, and Heresy of Man was something we wanted to do that got us all up to level 9 (but not beyond it, as would need to happen to finish the trilogy with the same characters).
So, checking the scenario planner for other scenarios: The Blakros Connection (5-9) and Ancients' Anguish (7-11) are both out now and within range. There are some other 5-9s due for release (so we could perhaps plan to play those as they come out, but I reckon we'd be waiting around too long if we do that), but no more 7-11s as yet. Let's see what Bold Strider has prepped and just play that! Also, please avoid playing the above two new Season 7s with anyone but the Drongos. Yeah?
No-one seemed to have an opinion on this, so (scrolling upwards also) it looks like Heresy of Man is still the scenario to play (unless you really want to hit the season 7 5-9s first, up to you - you're our new GM!).
Let us know what you decide, and where to dot in! Can't wait and thanks again.
