Scarab Sages

I'll be applying soon with a Spellscar Drifter cavalier because I've always wanted to play a cowboy and this AP is the best fit there is (except maybe the one that happens in the Spellscar region, but whatever).

*Waves*

I will have the alias updated in a moment, just rolling the hit points so I can get the stat block finished up. I will have the wish list added shortly. On questions since I did not see it in the initial build post, but were traits allowed and what were the restrictions? Haven't looked much further yet but I will in case I missed it, left them blank until I find out.

HP: 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 6) + 3 = 18

*Edit Got the build up with description and backstory in the alias. I will take care of equipment in the morning, need sleep.

*Further edit
Realized there are a couple of errors, will get them when I do the equipment.

well now this sounds interesting but the question is...

apply here or continue to hold out for a Legacy of Fire AP...

hmmm... I do enjoy games with Sunny and Good ole El ronza. not to mention Choon... looks like a bunch of familiar faces indeed

I yam hopin' fer a look-see at tha' second tilt of this, here, windy-mill. (^_^)

*Waves enthusiastically to Master Sobel* (^_^)

Scarab Sages

A (race undecided) man of about 30 looks at the cherry girl. Looks around to make sure she's not waving at a friend, then tips his broad brimmed hat. A long, salt crusted trench coat flaps behind as the wind rustles the sails. His bearing is easy, and his smile quick.
<Name> was born and raised in the less hostile regions around the skirts of the Spellscar desert. It was there he learned the limitations of magic and the usefulness of Alkanstar's new invention: guns. But saying "less hostile" about the Spellscar is like saying one tooth in a shark's mouth is slightly more dull than the others.
It was from these dangers and several lost family members that he learned of his life's most valuable lesson so far. Life is to be enjoyed, lived! Not squandered with undue worry about the future.

When the Spellscar finally stole almost everything from him he set out to see if he could find joy again. Turns out, that life lesson is easier believed than done.

Eventually, his nose led him to the Shackles where he was hired on as help on a Rahaoundi vessel in exchange for food and board. It was here that he said goodbye to his horse and traveling companion Bullet the Deaf.
Just a few days out of port, his new job, the Man's Promise, was set upon by pirates. After a fierce battle in which he held the fore castle, he found himself press ganged under a cruel man named Plugg and his first mate, a wirey man named Scourge. These two did not like life, and they liked a certain group of their own crew even less. <Name> managed to stay out of the way long enough for this hated group to rise up and mutiny.

GM: What do you think?
How are you working mounts? If I got a shark (or other aquatic), could I Permanency an Air swim spell on it?
If not, Roc?

*Giggles*

That'd be 'Cheery' girl... not 'cherry' girl... Though I in't quite sure what a cherry is...

Some kind'a critter? A plant?

(^_^)

Appearance: Andrea is a slender woman of about middling height and weight with pale skin that has been roughened by life at sea. Her blond hair is cut short and kept under a kerchief and she has a rather decorative series of tattoos across her skin that combines waves, skulls and ghostly figures. Andrea says that it has taken numerous sessions to get the work done and might just add some more. She is often dressed in plain tunic and breeches along with sturdy boots. When attending to medical duties, she wears a clean but stained smock with numerous pockets and scrupulously sharp tools.

History: Andrea was born the child of a Bloodmother, a woman whose function was to bear children for the church of Urgathoa for the purposes of sacrifice or induction into the faith. Just like her mother, Andrea had no last name since it was deemed unneeded for her role as acolyte.
Andrea's life in the church was notable since she took to the appreciation of undeath not as the dirt, mold and gore spattered stereotype of ghouls and zombies, but the clean, polished lines of bone. Andrea appreciates a fine feast but channels her desires into finely crafted meals and liqueurs, abodes are clean and quiet,(except for the occasional moan) with neat racks of skulls, bones and workshops of meticulously cared for equipment.
The elders of the church believed that Andrea would best be served as an emissary and infiltrator and thus she was sent to establish a foothold in areas where her faith was not prominent. She was told not to spread disease or undeath, not to preach to the masses or commit atrocity, but to seek to establish herself in a position to allow others to safely spread throughout the region. Becoming a figure of influence would work perfectly, so she was sent to The Shackles to find these opportunities. Unfortunately, she was shanghaied into the service of pirates. Shrugging, she used her skills to keep herself out of most

Ed! Buddy! :D *waves*

Choon! You too! Aww, come on, don't play another gun-user. Then I won't feel special anymore. ;-) [smaller]I kid, I kid.[.smaller]

It's pretty cool to see people from the original recruitment coming back!

S&S makes me wish to revive my old Lizardmen sailor.

Except I'd go Brawler (possibly Arch - Strangler) with eventually PrC into Shadow Dancer if the build works out. Focusing on grappling and ground pound, obviously. :3

Background:

Kai was captured as a young scale and sold into slavery shortly after. His life was on a knifes edge for a long time, he was constantly being harried and harassed by his owners. Beaten and thrown into fight after fight. He learned quickly to survive with more then just his teeth and claws, he learned to beat things to death with his fists, strangle them or drown them as he was a more natural swimmer.

He was on-board the ship during the wormwood mutiny and used the opportunity to strangle his more hated captors and escape in the confusion.

Appearance

standing at nearly seven feet tall and heavily muscled, Kai is covered in scars from the many fights he has survived, his forearms and fists bare the most scars. Having been stabbed while pinning and choking his opponents out.

His scales are black while his underbelly is a dull grey like unpolished steel. His only remaining eye is a yellowish color akin to a snake.

Personality
Merciless Nicknamed Bulldogfor the aggressive way he attacks and how once he gets a hold of his opponent he never lets go.

Killer He's a predatory and anything that he deems prey better run. Aiming to cripple or kill opponents quickly before moving onto the next, he fights on instinct alone. Allowing his unpredictable movements to be the downfall of his enemies.

Quiet He rarely ever talks, having a rough understanding of the language but never taught how to speak it. He prefers to speak in his own tongue over that of his captors.

Determined Survivor Aside for the brutal way he fights he will always look to ensure his survival in any fight. Whether the means using an opponent as a shield and leaping over a cliff edge and using them as a way to break his fall or merely running away so that he can return later and kill his opponent.

Character crunch coming later.

Alright, found the picture I wanted for the avatar. Yay!

I went through and made the corrections, though one I will have to check o if selected, and got my equipment done. At that total, not a lot I can get of use so I have gone with this.

masterwork backpack, bedroll, belt pouch, ink, inkpen, journal, small steel mirror, travelers outfit, mess kit, spell component pouch, trail rations x5, waterskin, 42 gold pieces, 1 silver piece, and 1020 gp in misc gems.

Only possibly questionable part is the backpack as it is master work. Depending on traits I may alter this list slightly.

*Edit

Just found the answer on traits, taking care of that now.

2d10 + 1d8 ⇒ (3, 5) + (7) = 15

Alright, got the character sheet finalized, and the update wish list.

masterwork backpack
bedroll
belt pouch
ink
inkpen

trail rations x5
waterskin
necklace with one white salt-water pearl set in silver that belonged to her late sister (150gp value)

Background, Appearance, Personality (Updated):

Kai was taken from his home and sold off as a slave when he was very young, he spent his early years learning to survive the abuses of his masters and eventually escaped during a violent storm near the shackles. He washed ashore near Port Peril and eventually found work performing heavy labor around the docks.

Kai was one of the biggest Lizardfolk many had seen around Port Peril in the shackles, he worked as a dock worker. Often working for a third of what most people made, except he was quite prone to his drink and was often placated with that instead of pay. Being such a simple creature he didn't know the difference between cheap and expensive whiskey. He just enjoyed getting drunk off his scales and brawling.

It was during one of these brawls, after many hours of cheap drink in the Formidable Maid. Despite handling himself well he found himself confronted by a group of rough-looking characters ganged up on you and overwhelmed you, knocking you unconscious. Fortunately, you were able to conceal your brass knuckles when you were press-ganged.

From there he proved to be difficult to control without drink, spending many of his days chained in the bowels of the ship where he couldn't viciously assault the rest of the crew. However he was brought on deck whenever a fight with other ships broke out and he excelled at boarding the enemy ship and tearing apart its crew with his vicious strikes. He often grappled enemies or kicked them overboard with his punishing kick, he was a force to reckon with. However he preferred a straight up fight over guns, finding them too complicated for his tastes.

Current Status
Chained either above or below deck, where he has resided due to Mr. Plugg and Master Scourage's growing paranoia as of late. They both fear that if someone could sway the beastly brawler to their side that Kai would turn on them. If that happens it was more than likely that neither of them would survive the lizardfolks rage if it unleashed its fists on them. He is wounded after a recent lashing for acting up...

It's there hope to sell him once they reach an appropriate port...

Appearance

Standing at nearly seven feet tall and heavily muscled, Kai is covered in scars from the many fights he has survived, his forearms and fists bare the most scars. Having been stabbed while pinning and beating his opponents to death with his bare fists. His underbelly sports a few wicked scars from injuries that would have easily killed a regular man, however his natural armor protected him from the worst of it along with his quick reflexes.

His scales are black while his underbelly is a dull grey like unpolished steel. His only remaining eye is a yellowish color akin to a snake.

Personality
Merciless Nicknamed 'Hound'for the aggressive way he attacks and how once he gets a hold of his opponent he never lets go.

Killer He's a predator and anything that he deems prey better run. Aiming to cripple or kill opponents quickly before moving onto the next, he fights on instinct.

Naive He is easily duped, however he responds to pain with pain and most likely wouldn't know what t do if someone was actually nice to him...

Wishlist:

1 Masterwork? - Cold Iron Brass Knuckles 1 lb 2 gp
1 Masterwork? - Garrote 1 lb 3 gp
1 Masterwork? - Temple Sword 3 lbs 30 gp
3 Potion of cure light wounds 150 gp
1 Backpack, masterwork 4 lbs 50 gp
1 Bedroll 5 lbs 1 sp
1 Belt pouch 0.5 lbs 1 gp
1 Flint and steel 1 gp
1 Rope 10 lbs 1 gp
10 Torch 1 lb 1 sp
5 Trail rations 1 lb 2 gp, 5 sp
1 Underwater light crossbow 4 lbs 70 gp
1 Waterskin 4 lbs 1 gp

313 gp total

Masterwork added to the two above would boost this to 913gp, I honestly didn't know what to buy as he doesn't need armor and his weapons are primarily his fists...

Suggestions welcome! :D

Tactics:

For tough opponents he can utilize his higher the average grappling and get them in a position where he can beat them with his fists and keep them somewhat immobile.

His Flurry of fists though will ensure that he can take down opponents very quickly.

His high stealth coupled with high grapple and garrote means he can take enemies quietly as well. Scouting wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility with him and he can easily get himself out of trouble if needed.

Updated character, I know Lizardfolk is probably pushing it but I thought it was worth a shot to replay an old favorite of mine. Granted Quartermaster Kai'Itza was 3.5 lol. I am keeping the old Character sheet under a spoiler as Kai was my very first Pathfinder Pbp. Hence why I tried again! :)

Hopefully everything is okay. took awhile to get his stats right. He isn't the smartest or the prettiest but if he can hit it or grapple it then whatever he is fighting is going to have a bad BAD day. If selected I will make a new profile, until then I will stick with using this old one currently. Btw! Good Luck everyone!

@Suny:
You again! Troublemaking Sea Elf! Hopefully we both get selected it would be a blast to play together again! :D

I'd like to restat this character for you. This is little more than a dot right now, as the crunch on the alias is for a gestalt game that fell through. I'll work on this when I get home.

Off the top of my head: Chelish ex-pat chirurgeon, shy but clutch and highly skilled healer.

Like I said, adjustments to come; and wish list to follow

HP roll: 4d10 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 1) = 11

Good thing I'm ranged! -_-

Here is Choon's submission. I have yet to choose traits because, Mr. DM, would you like us to still pick a campaign trait, or no?

Trait Picked Dockside Brawler Campaign wise, it was fitting for character build and I included it in the above build.

Amos, you can pick one, if you desire, but when it all boils down, if you take something that is fitting, or regional, then I'm good with that. I'm pretty flexible considering the situation!

I am ready... I think. Oh, Wish list!

- Mwk pistol
- Mwk studded leather
- Underwater crossbow
- a couple Potions of CLW
... and that's it off the top of my head. I may think of more later.

Grand Lodge

I would like to submit Cassius the swashbuckler here for consideration! He has many buckles to swash! Hehehe.

I have some crunch to add, and a tiny bit of fluff, but for the most part he is complete!

I shall hold off on hitpoints until if/when I'm chosen!

Give this a final poke. I'm going to cut off dotting/expressing interest tomorrow night, then give the weekend for questions and final drafts. The spots will be filled on Sunday night or Monday evening

Sounds good. :) Updating character sheet, rounding out his story some. Do you want a list of characters put together for ease of reference?

Sounds mighty fine by me. I'll be a'waitin.

Nah, I make paper lists, easier for me to track.

Will get to update asap...

Working a lot the next few weeks so some things are taking longer than i planned on.

GM Hills wrote:

Understood. It was fun building a Lizardfolk Brawler, I'm gonna have to keep him around even if he isn't accepted. Its just neat to refresh an old character~ :D

GM Hills, does everything look okay for Allie (stats, backstory, etc)?

Any questions, concerns, or outright vetoes on her wish list?

Allie's Wish List:

Poison Pill RIng, 25 gp
1 Dose of Indigo Dreams, 150 gp
2 Masterwork Daggers, 604 gp
2 Wrist Sheaths, 2 gp

@ "Quartermaster" Kai'itza , you cannot multi class brawler with monk the brawler is a hybrid of fighter/monk

its like you cannot multi class ninja with rogue as the ninja is a subclass of rogue.

They removed that rule for the hybrid classes with the final release of the Advanced Class Guide. So you can now multiclass monk and brawler. =) However, you're still absolutely right in that you can't take levels in both rogue and ninja, as ninja is an alternate class.

Also, the cap'n's mighty glad to see some interesting faces here!

For sake of assisting those who are concerned about making sure I counted them, the following list is all those who I consider ready to go:

Allie "Cat" Calico- Rogue
"Quartermaster" Kai'itza- Brawler/Monk
Amos Anders- Cavalier
Cassius Rain- Swashbuckler
Indrana- Sorcerer
Andrea- Cleric
Sunny- Magus
Mata- Wizard

Interest expressed but not a viable submission:

Aestereal
Nohwear
Tamina
Sasha

A few of these are nearly ready for me to consider, but without more info, I can not.

Thanks for the interest, if you are in the list at the top, don't fret, I have you down as possibilities.

oh... seems silly though lots of overlap really.

I have two characters very similar to "Quartermaster" Kai'itza,

one is a barbarian (single classed) --- Aramis you know her quite well

the other is a Bloodrager/fighter Gestalted and a damage dealing machine.

EDIT though I can almost see some value.. by taking Archetypes that eliminate overlapping abilities so you just get uber cool...

I personally prefer not allowing it.

EDIT 2: I guess you need the level 4 stats correct? instead of level 2.

but what about the back story? is it viable? also what tie in should be used? like where will the party be and what (if any) are the circumstances of new players getting introduced)

Ninjaed!

I primarily took it for the fun of the combination. I am not much of an optimized. But thus combo with the possibility of kicking people overboard is fun. :D

He was primarily built for grappling and will do it quite well. :3

Sasha, I had thought you said you were going to be changing things slightly. If you can just tell me the intent of which class you are going to progress in or if you intend to split all the way or not, that is probably enough to base my decisions on!

for level 4 I will be level 2 sorcerer and level 2 bard. progress beyond that will be mostly sorcerer but I usually let the game dynamics dictate that more. (advance to fill needs of the group).

concentration on necromancy magic.

I have most of what i need done but I cannot access it at work (I work night shift) so I will have the alias updated Friday night (Friday night is my only evening off).

Sasha Neville II wrote:

Overlap isn't as bad as you think, they complement each other quite well.

Although, I try not to build characters I won't enjoy, I had a Druid for 2 years that was completely useless without her animal companion.

Won't do that again. Complete misery, but I had no reason to quit as the party was great.

I have two characters very similar to "Quartermaster" Kai'itza,

one is a barbarian (single classed) --- Aramis you know her quite well

Aramis? I can't recall...?

the other is a Bloodrager/fighter Gestalted and a damage dealing machine.

EDIT though I can almost see some value.. by taking Archetypes that eliminate overlapping abilities so you just get uber cool...

I personally prefer not allowing it.

I don't mind Constructive Criticism but what you prefer isn't what GM Hills prefers. If he has an issue I don't mind changing it at all.

As I said, I wasn't trying to optimize or min/max, just building a fun punching character. Much like you built a Fighter Bloodrager because it was fun and worked well, right?

Since it is an issue I will drop monk and change the character. Updated Character coming in 3 hours after work.

I wasn't not attacking nor criticizing I merely refer to my own games.

the lfting of the ban was new to me, just personal feelings...

I just hope to have some fun thats all.

also I am in few games with El Ronza, she knows exactly what character I am talking about as I play that character in another game with her.

If I offended you I apologize.... not any intent there.

*Waves @ "Quartermaster" Kai'itza * (^_^)

I in't trouble much. (>_>)

Will work through which 'Suny' fits tha' DM's wishes bestest. (^_^)

Though, bein' a kind of 'flanking fighter' is mostly how tha' Suny's are built. (^_^)

Much cheers ta' all.

Ooo... jus'a question. We can be havin' guns, right? (>_>)

There be a "Gunslinger" on'a offer, yes?

Much cheers ta' all! (^_^)

Changed Kai to a straight Brawler (With Wild Child Archetype - Animal Companion is a Quetzacotl). Still emphasizing on grapple the hell out of people. Bought more rope and updated wish list.

The Archetype actually appears really fun, however if Animal companions are frowned upon then I can go straight brawler, no archetypes. Just let me know~

I will be going for maneuvers and be a special combat fool, Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Pin/Tie Down.

His stats changed as well, reflecting the dropping the monk side of things.

Wish List - Also in character sheet:

1 emei piercer 3 gp
1 Masterwork Cold Iron brass knuckles 1 lb 302 gp
1 Masterwork garrote 1 lb 303 gp
1 Masterwork lamellar (leather) armor 25 lbs 210 gp
3 Potion of cure light wounds 150 gp
1 tekko-kagi 2 gp
1 Backpack, masterwork 4 lbs 50 gp
1 Bedroll 5 lbs 1 sp
1 Belt pouch 0.5 lbs 1 gp
1 Flint and steel 1 gp
1 Oldlaw whiskey (per bottle) 1 lb 20 gp
4 Rope 10 lbs 4 gp
10 Torch 1 lb 1 sp
5 Trail rations 1 lb 2 gp, 5 sp
1 Underwater light crossbow 4 lbs 70 gp
1 Waterskin 4 lbs 1 gp
1 Wyrm's breath bitter 1 lb 30 gp

Wyrms Breath Bitter Liqueur... Burp as much as I want and sicken/stagger people, Ha! sounds great for a brawler who likes to get his drink on! :D

Character updated.

Just realize I missed one thing on building my character, the level four stat bump. Adding that in a moment. Good luck to everyone.
