As the group moves through the town, discussing and speaking with people about all the things they are gathering information about, it starts to thin out, getting rather quiet...less and less people until finally, only seven other people remain in the street. All of them have very blatantly wearing a snake insignia, six of them a bronze snake, the seventh a silver.
"You have a lot of gall coming into this town and not paying dues."
Aramis: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Aspis win init 15.7 to 15
The silver insignia wearing female begins to sing a quick ditty and it looks the entire group begin to react a bit faster.
"Get them. We will take them and then their ship, just as they did ours..."
With the spell cast, the other six dash forward!
Three of them are able to get close enough to attack, drawing light blades as they do.
On Diabolito: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (6, 1) = 12
On Cassius: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (3, 5) = 14
On Cassius: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (2, 6) = 14
All on your flat-footed
Luckily, they did not pick the best spot to ambush and only three were able to get the drop on the group, And the others only seem to have their one dagger and one rapier, so they aren't throwing their daggers away...merely drawing them into their hands and having them ready.
Amos Anders |
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Ahh, hell. Amos chuckles. They didn't tell you much about us did they...
He steps out from behind Indara for a clear shot on a pale mook with a large black hood. His magical pistol slides free of it's holster and Amos aims down the barrel with practised ease before bringing the thunder. Literally.
bang!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
you're dead!: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Indrana |
Due to where we are, mage armor is already up and going, don't trust this place with our history with them.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Maura quickly gets on Indrana's shoulder and then down into her pack for shelter. Realizing that they have a spell caster she fails to identify the spell when she realizes one of them is the brother of another member of the Aspis ship they took. Not worrying about that fact for now, Indranna send an arrow of acid at the opposing spell caster, hoping to disrupt their magic support.
Acid Arrow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 122d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Cassius Rain |
Flinching as the two blades slides ineffectually across his armor, Cassius explodes into motion drawing his cutlass and attacking the man just shot by Amos in a single swift motion.
"We were thinking a live and let live approach..."
Cutlass Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Cutlass Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Menacing Swordplay: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Aramis Steele |
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
"So, 'ow long did it take fer yer brother ta come runnin' ta ye?" Aramis sneers, tearing a paper cartridge open with her teeth and loading her musket. "Shoulda' known better than ta trust 'im. Per'aps yer 'ead will serve as a warnin' ta tha bastard not ta cross us!" It's the brother she takes aim for, perhaps not the most tactically sound option, but damn it all, he needed to pay.
Attack (PBS, deadly aim): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 And that's a misfire, cap'n!
Unfortunately, something jams - she hears a click, sees an alarming amount of smoke pouring over her hand, and begins cursing, loudly and creatively.
Maera |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
"By the looks of that haste spell, I don't think they care overmuch to that approach, Cassius," Maera grumbles, beginning her own spell to try and recover battlefield control. "Nor 'ave I a mind to be that generous."
At Aramis's misfire, and their backline exposed, Maera targets a Glitterdust on their clustered foes.
DC 15, Will.
GM Hills |
Diabolito quickly draws his morningstar and gives it a swing at the now blinding Aspis before him
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The bladed cudgel smashing into the face of the assailant, leaving his face bleeding and scraped.
The Silver Asp wearing person moves a good bit closer and begins to sing as she draws a bow.
The others quickly move, trying to create a killing cup around the party. One of the hooded agents moves forward and calls to one of his stumbling companions to follow him.
The bandana wearing rogue rolls through, attempt to set-up a nice flank on Cassius.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Slipping into place, dodging through Cassius's guard, the rogue slashes out, as does her companion.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
1d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + (5, 4) = 19
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
1d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + (6, 2) = 18
But despite their advantageous actions, they fail to capitalize.
The tricorn wearing agent begins to try and slip through, as well.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Easily slipping into place and slashing out at Diabolito.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
1d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + (2, 2) = 14
And apparently none of these poor agents can find their way into a proper fight.
The blind trio then make their attacks. The two that had failed to move did attempt to attack multiple times with their rapiers, not having drawn their daggers.

1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
C: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

1d2 ⇒ 1
D: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d2 ⇒ 1
Thankfully, the trio is blind and only one manages to strike despite his new found problems. His blade, however, flounders into a soft spot and digs deep into Cassius side, leaving a gaping wound.
18 damage on Cassius
Cassius Rain |
Taking a step back as he wheezes from the vicious blow, Cassius tries to buy himself some space. He attacks the hooded figure to his right after.
"Ow. Any magic to help?" He wheezes.
Cutlass Attack - Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Cutlass Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Menacing Swordplay: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Amos Anders |
attack, brown hooded man: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 10 - 4 = 17
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Clear, cock, tear, pack, aim, BANG. The rhythm has begun. His motions are smooth, his aim is sure. In spite of the dance of melee, Amos's shot finds its mark, though he knows in his gut that he could have hit less protected places.
Indrana |
Realizing that the fighting is drawing far too close for her comfort, Indranna decides it's time to move. She quickly retreats to a positing behind Amos and Aramis before casting a spell, sending another arrow shaped glob of acid at the person who cast that nasty spell on their enemies.
Acid Arrow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 92d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
I move and cast acid arrow at the spell caster, I assume that's the one in the back of their group wearing white.
And I seem destined not to hit shit in this combat.
GM Hills |
Cassius manages to slip back into a defensive posture while pushing his blade into one of his enemies, the blade striking the hooded man relatively easily, though he still stands.
As he steps back, a bang is heard from over his shoulder and Amos's bullet strikes...skipping off one of the studs in the fellow's armor, and only causing him so aches compared to the sword thrust.
Indrana's arrow goes off and the caster in the back smirks as she continues to sing.
Maera |
"Workin' on it," Maera mutters in response to Cassius, though it might not be the kind he had in mind. She drops an Aqueous Orb on three of the opponents menacing their Navigator, and makes a note to divvy out some of the potions they have found after they deal with this.
DC 15 reflex to negate, another to avoid being engulfed.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The first blinded man managed to dodge everything, but the second blind one did not and got jostled about rather hard, however, the one that could see managed to escape the water unscathed.
I'll push forward in the morning!
Aramis Steele |
"Ye think I can't see tha', lad?" Aramis growls, quickly clearing her musket. "Damned blasted thing... A'right, let's give this a shot!" She fumbles in the runed pouch at her belt, withdrawing the single bullet, engraved with the same strange mark. She glances at it, shrugs, presses it briefly to her lips, and loads her firearm, ready to fire.
Standard action to use my quick clear deed, removing the broken condition from my musket. Move action to load a bullet and powder. Guess I'll find out what this does. :P
Diabolito Stormbeard |
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
The dwarf swings his weapon, in the desire to finish destroying the face of his foe, since he already began the work with the cudgel in meaty fist. He laughs, seeing the weapons of these "Agents" totally miss him. And it is one of the agents that catches his eye, making him realize just how much trouble they are now in.
GM Hills |
Diabolito's bladed cudgel tears through the flesh of the agent and his bloody form drops hard to the pavement.
At that point, the silver agent begins to weave a few words into his song.
Cassius feels a spell wash over him... Will Save, DC14. As this happens, one of the more thuglike fellows runs past and provokes a chance for Cassius to strike him...As well as Diabolito.
GM Hills |
The agents shift, always look to strike from the best spot...just like a snake...
Not blind on Diabolito: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Blind on Diabolito: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Blind on Diabolito: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d2 ⇒ 2
Blind on Diabolito: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Despite his blindness, both the blind agent and the sighted one attack out at the dwarf, slashing him rather deeply. 16 total
[ooc] the last two will go after the attacks of opporunity..
Diabolito Stormbeard |
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
If one of these ones attacking Diabolito is already injured, I'll go for that one.
The salty dwarf growls low as the blade draws blood, and he laughs in a great burbling noise, his own weapon smashing and gouging flesh deeply.
Cassius Rain |
Cassius strikes out, taking advantage of the gap in his opponent's defense.
Cutlass Attack - Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Cutlass Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Menacing Swordplay: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Missed out on the AoO! Was too concerned Cassius would be addled!
GM Hills |
The poor blind fool tried to get to where he thought he could strike best...and only allowed himself to get struck best. His blindness left him opened to Cassius's strike, and following Diabolito's well-timed blow, the fellow dropped hard to the ground.
His companion then took her chances against Cassius.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
And manages to land a rather vicious looking strike on the swashbuckler.
HEROES!
Indrana |
Seeing that cocky bard smirk at her, Indrana thinks to herself, Why that little b$&~!! How dare she smirk at me the lowly trollop! Eat THIS! She chants and points causing a couple of small blasts of force to fly at her.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7
Diabolito Stormbeard |
No worries. :) I just had to make sure So...25/33 HP remaining.
"Cassius, get your hairless white arse out of there!" The dwarf yells as he swings his weapon at the enemy between himself and one of the Captains.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Aramis Steele |
"Fall back, Cass!" Aramis yells at the navigator. "We got this well in 'and!" She levels her aim at the hooded woman, hoping to hit her somewhere vital. When the musket begins smoking and sputtering again, she yells a word that would have earned her a slap from her father, drawing her pistol instead and loading it wih a paper cartridge.
Attack (deadly aim): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Two misfires in a row? Really, dice?!
Maera |
Leaving her orb to churn in place on the aspis agent, Maera takes a quick step out of reach of another, seeking the wand they found. Drawing it out of her belt pouch, she gives Cassius a gentle tap with it when he darts backwards. "Here's hopin' this gets you back in the fight..."
DC 15, again for the mob that's under the orb. 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2Churn: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9 Do you prefer rolling for your hp, or shall I?
GM Hills |
The swipe lands and cuts deep into the foe as Cassius tumbles away, leaving the Aspis staggered by the waving of his blade. As he does so, Amos's shot fires off and hits the Agent, as well.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
The blind assailant is caught in the churning of the water this time and is tossed about like a rag doll.
The two on Diabolito take their chances...
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Two of the blows land, thankfully missing major arteries and organs, but still putting quite a bit of trouble on the bloodthirsty dwarf.
The blind one, as well...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d2 ⇒ 1 MISS
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d2 ⇒ 1
And the bleeding and blind one, lastly takes his swings...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
1d2 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
1d2 ⇒ 1
The bandana wearing agent, steps up to Cassius and despite her fear, swings...
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
And almost stabs her own foot...
The bard seems to be slightly worried as he continues to sing, working in another spell...
And despite the fact that some may not recognize the spell, the results are immediately evident...
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 As five copies of the singer spring forth from him and his real self is lost within.
Cassius Rain |
Fighting cautiously. Cassius swipes out at the pirate following him again, then draws a healing potion from his pack.
Cutlass Attack - Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Cutlass Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Menacing Swordplay: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Cassius will ready to use his Parry should an attack land on him.
Indrana |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Not recognizing the spell, Indrana doesn't let it worry her al that much as she sends another volley of arcane force into the pesky bard.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
Diabolito Stormbeard |
14/33, if my math is right
The dwarf growls low, feeling his blood continuing to flow, much more freely now. Still, he does not give up or give in. Taking a step to the south to get out of the bottle neck he is stuck in, the druid strikes again at the agent so stupidly between him and his allies.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
GM Hills |
The magical arrows blast past the images and vanish, striking home, but due to the mass of magic, it does not reveal the original. Indrana is certain that they struck home, though.
Cassius's daring assault forward gives him the strike he needs to land, piercing the woman's throat and she falls at his feet, bleeding profusely, not looking like she will be long for Golarion.
Diabolito, I can't find you! Where did you go?!? Could you just let me know which one you attempt to strike? Likely, you did not. Also, my count is that you have taken 25 total damage, putting you at 8...there was 14 way earlier, then 11 here, recently. Either way, the fight is nearly cleaned up, from where I'm standing...but we'll see if there is still life left in it.
Maera |
Cassius's HP back I suppose... 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Feeling as if the tide is finally turning in favor of them, Maera refocuses her orb spell, sweeping it towards her meddlesome counterpart. "Let's see those fancy images save you from this..." she growls, and works another spell on the aspis agent who has yet to take damage.
Orb sweeps straight to bard, 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 82d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7, DC 14 Hideous Laughter on the unharmed mob
GM Hills |
Caught up in the waters, the first thug manages no chance to save himself and falls unconscious from the waters, and then dies as the churning water washes towards the bard.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
The bard nimble dodges out of the way of the water and smirks slightly, clearly amused by the attack.
Finally, the Aspis agent attempts to fight off laughter.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
And manages without a problem.
Aramis Steele |
Aramis steps aside to get a clearer shot past Maera, levelling her aim at the man engaged in melee with the angry dwarf. "If this one jams, I swear ta ol' Bess, I'll..." she trails off, dissolving into angry muttering, even as she fires the pistol at the unfortunate sod.
Attack (PBS, deadly aim): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Damage (PBS, deadly aim): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
GM Hills |
Silly me, I didn't realize I was up ;)
As the bullet tears through the Agent, the bard looks at the situation and casts another spell.
The head agent vanishes and the footsteps of someone running can be heard.
Seeing his boss leaving, the agent that can still see drops his weapons and then drops to his knees. "I give up!"
Hearing this, the other agent, still blind, follows suit.
Heroes?
