Woo hoo! 100 pages!! Hard to believe we've been at this now for what, 3 years now?

I think i should apologize now for any psychological scarring as a result of sharing the picture of Mammy Graul.

Bon voyage!

Just back from PaizoCon Australia. Gimme a few hours to post

Sorry for the delay in updating guys ... we all came back with slight head colds after our trip, plus we ended up having to drive instead of flying back home.

Ranger (guide) 8| AC 18(22) | HP 86/86

Must have been a heck of a party if you ended up on the no fly list! :-)

It was awful.

So ... we had a 2:40 PM flight from our town. We just get to the airport, and are walking up to the gate, when I get a text that the flight's delayed till 5:10.

We get to the gate agent:

'You know about the delay, right?'

'Yeah, it's delayed till 5:10 pm.'

'No, it's delayed again, to 8:30 pm.'

I look at my wife and think we should just drive to Orlando. It's only an 8 hour drive. But, we already paid for the flight. So we go home, nap, then get back to the airport at 6 pm.

Delayed again till 9. But you can have $15 vouchers per ticket for food (which we take!).

Then again, till 9:30.

Then again, till 10 pm. But, we'll offer a refund to anyone who wants one. At this point, I couldn't stand it anymore. I'd been up since 5 am, and knew it'd be well after midnight before we'd be able to check in to our hotel in Orlando.

So, we took the refund, went back home again, immediately to bed, then up at 5 am, and we were on the road at 6.

So, we lost a day of vacation essentially. Just glad we had travel insurance!

Ranger (guide) 8| AC 18(22) | HP 86/86

Well, that sucks.

Female Asimar Bard 2/Monk 2 | HP ?/? | AC 18; T 18; FF 14 | CMD 18 | F +3 R +9 W +8 | Init +4 | Perc +9 | Active: None

That does suck - I hate flying for that very reason. How far a drive was it? We drive almost 18 hours to Orlando, but I still drive almost every time...

It's a bit less than 8 hours without stopping, but we usually make a couple of fast food stops on the way.

Feeling under the weather ... will resume posts tomorrow. My apologies!

Happy Halloween, Zilt!

My apologies for the long delay in updating. I'm usually pretty busy on Halloween, even though I had taken the day off yesterday from work. Saturday, I was getting things together for a Halloween party, then we had a family get together for my daughter on Sunday and on Halloween itself, I was putting the finishing touches on a haunted house in our basement we do for the neighborhood.

8th lvl Halfling (Rogue 6/Sorcerer 2); 22, 2'10", 32#; Str 8, Dex 20, Con 13, Int 8, Wis 9, Cha 16; AC: 21 (touch 17, ff n/a); hp 64; Initiative +5

Hope it was successful!

BTW, I noticed that I've been kinda hogging the posts for several weeks now, so, you know, sorry, all you guys. Zilt, if you want to continue at this pace, or if we need to streamline things so everyone's participating, I'm cool either way.

We do a food drive as part of the haunted house and we ended up collecting 14 more pounds of food this year compared to last year. It surprised me, since Halloween was a school night this year and I also didn't pass out fliers in the subdivision this time.

I apologize for the awful delay this week, everyone. I stayed up way too late Tuesday night, got so worked up over the news, and both my wife and I couldn't sleep much at all. Weds we were zombies. And, Thurs we were just lazy!

8th lvl Halfling (Rogue 6/Sorcerer 2); 22, 2'10", 32#; Str 8, Dex 20, Con 13, Int 8, Wis 9, Cha 16; AC: 21 (touch 17, ff n/a); hp 64; Initiative +5

Congrats on the food drive! But considering Tuesday night has triggered the end of the world, you might want to hold onto those cans yourself :)

You *might* be referring to Trump's cavalier attitude regarding global warming. Turns out, it may be an easy problem to fix. Washington Post ran a story awhile back, and there's research showing that inch thick compost spread on farm fields acts as a massive carbon sink. If widely adopted through the world, say 20 to 40% of the world's arable land, we could probably remove 50 ppm of CO2 from the air.

Sorry, don't mean to get political on the board. I'm trying hard to disengage from the political news now. My m-i-l is so upset by it all, she told she thought she could get us all into Ireland, since she can get citizenship there. Not a bad thought! Maybe we should look into it.

8th lvl Halfling (Rogue 6/Sorcerer 2); 22, 2'10", 32#; Str 8, Dex 20, Con 13, Int 8, Wis 9, Cha 16; AC: 21 (touch 17, ff n/a); hp 64; Initiative +5

I appreciate you offering a hopeful solution when pointing out a problem, but you misinterpreted my tone. Curmudeonly a-hole that I am, I'm excited about the end of the world! I didn't sit through repeated showings of Red Dawn and Mad Max, not to mention the fiddling-while-Rome-burns lessons I took, just to hit old age in an Obamacare funded retirement home with therapy dogs and engaging activities to keep my dementia at bay. I plan to go down bleeding in a ditch somewhere, fighting mutant robot ninjas hellbent on harvesting my organs for the alien overlords who rule over the wasteland that this world will become.

On the other hand, Ireland sounds really nice, too.

Ranger (guide) 8| AC 18(22) | HP 86/86

You can do all that in Ireland too. Only with whisky!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'll update as we get responses from players; if it's Sunday or Monday till everyone can reply, that'll be fine.

Enjoy the holiday!

We just discovered 'Star Trek Continues' on Youtube. And, out of all the shows I've discovered on Netflix & Amazon Prime this year, I'm tempted to say that this fan-film production is the best discovery I've made for 2016.

these videos are cheesy, but i just gotta share this one

Congrats, everyone. YOu are now 9th level. Go ahead and adjust your characters, you can make full use of any abilities during the foray into Ft Rannick.

Sorry for the delay this weekend. Very busy the past few days due to the holidays, and then, Sunday night, I got to see Rogue One.

Thoughts, folks? We loved it!

I gave up waiting breathlessly by the PC for you guys to post and took the SO yesterday. We liked it a lot. Of course I could and will find a nit or two to pick, but apparently I'm too critical :) But yeah, overall very enjoyable.

Grand Lodge

I missed the opening crawl which I think should be virtually mandatory.

I loved the movie but the CGI Leia and especially Tarkin freaked me out - they were very good. Tarkins voice was only a TAD off but not by much. What it heralds is CGI actors that are as good as living ones. This has implications for movie making in the future.

Female Asimar Bard 2/Monk 2 | HP ?/? | AC 18; T 18; FF 14 | CMD 18 | F +3 R +9 W +8 | Init +4 | Perc +9 | Active: None

Yah, Leia at the end really was a bit disturbing... I would have been happy to just see them hand the plans to her when you could only see her back.

I also fell asleep a few times in the beginning - it was slow to start. But then I really enjoyed it! I think overall, I likes it more than any other SW movies after the original. It certainly felt a lot like new hope - reminded me of when I first saw it in the theater. (What was that, like 40 years ago??)

One thing that was a bit frustrating was all the planet hopping they did in the first 20 minutes of the movie. It got confusing and didn't settle down for a while.

One criticism that I heard was that they did a poor job of investing us in the characters - there isn't much of a personal journey that sucks us into the heroines story. It goes from resentful to committed pretty quickly (shades of Anakin).

Vader at the end is pretty kickass. Perhaps too much so as it doesn't jive with Episode IV. Maybe he was all out of Bacta juice when he was fighting Obi-Wan.

One thing it did do was fire me up to watch episode IV again.

Yes, I agree. They had too many planets way too early in the movie. And, the whole business with the shield gate was confusing.

But, you know ... if they could find a way to bring the cost down on their facsimile characters like Tarkin, maybe one day we could get a movie trilogy based on the original Timothy Zahn novels. I know those novels don't line up exactly with the new canon they're writing, but it would be so freakin' awesome.

8th lvl Halfling (Rogue 6/Sorcerer 2); 22, 2'10", 32#; Str 8, Dex 20, Con 13, Int 8, Wis 9, Cha 16; AC: 21 (touch 17, ff n/a); hp 64; Initiative +5

They stole that shield gate right out of Spaceballs.

Got a rules question for the group, as I'm having no luck online. But not for Pathfinder; this is an extremely obscure bit of BECMI rules lore and I'm having trouble deciphering it:

I've been playing around with incorporating some of the Mentzer high level stuff into Basic Fantasy, and I've run into a question with the Sea Machine rules. This is the 4th and final step in calculating the Battle Rating (BR) for a fleet before actually rolling for the combat:

Make an average of both BRs (by adding both and dividing by two). The total indicates the final FLEET BR. Then determine separate combat modifiers for the fighting troops and the fleet. For troops: base the ratio on the marines’ total HD or levels rather than the number of creatures.

For the ships/sailors, determine the ratio from the total number of HP involved in each force (the sailors/rowers are then considered as part of the ship).

Make an average of both combat modifiers and add it to the fleet/troop BR. Resolve the combat with normal War Machine rules, using instead the table below.

I can't figure out what they're talking about here in referring to 'separate combat modifiers'. Can anyone make sense of this?

Part of me thinks this is a reference to the Troop Ratio modifier, which is added when the opposing forces are compared in size. But, that's not done when calculating the BR. It's done after your BR is finalized, just before each side makes a d100 combat roll.

Any ideas out there?

Ranger (guide) 8| AC 18(22) | HP 86/86

Sorry, I haven't played that system
