Here we are. He'll be good for some healing bits, as well as having a personable air about him. But in fact, he actually suffers from some intense paranoia, making him a somewhat... odd character. He can receive six additional languages, but I'm unsure what to place there.
Race: Human
Class: Arcanist (Unlettered Arcanist)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Backstory: Whispers... whispers... The library is full of whispers. Small quotes left behind by their writers, minor things. A single book is only a whisper, yet I've always loved reading those little whispers. The messages and stories left behind by writers recent and ages past, a love that bore me ill will from my family. Me, a librarian in a family of surgeons.
Something else in this library whispers to me... A small white rat, black dots across it's fur. I affectionately named the thing Speckle, and she whispers back a name for me as well, Master.
She leads me amongst the shelves one day, having stolen my glasses and causing me to fumble after in a word of blurred tones. By the time I reached her, she sat atop a book I'd never cataloged before. Had someone left it by mistake, I wonder?
But by reading the words of a language never seen, I find myself whisked across worlds...

Speaking of Ranged and Martial Artist, there's always the Zen Archer Monk archetype, if you'd want to cover our potential ranged needs as well as being just an all around martial badass xD
This is purely a recommendation inspired by Dimitri's mentioning of our lack of a ranged combatant, and I am in no way trying to coerce you into deciding anything.
JUST DO IT!

I just spent the last half hour reading up on the adventures of you two, incredible! And a very dramatic moment of leave for the cleric, I applaud their roleplaying it out. If Jerry does get brought in, I'm fairly sure he'd absolutely refuse to meet with his 'specialist', as it were, and desire to learn things on his own time. Perhaps, if by GM leniency, there could be no specialist for him from the get go?
Also, dog-spiders.
Incredible.

^^ Thank you! I had a lot of fun with it so far. The DOG-SPIDERS bit was just a sheer stroke of randomness that I just had to include. I was so happy to see how well-received it was/is x3
And there's plenty more to come! We still have a long adventure ahead of us! :D I'm glad you three were interested in this campaign - I was worried it was going to fall apart, but now everything should be back on track ^^

I will say that one thing we do lack is any sort of ranged combatant, if that changes anyone's mind :-) I can be decent with a bow, but my strength is with the sword.
I'm thinking former FBI scientist.
EDIT: Had a better idea for implementation. Same origin, but going to use sorcerer and ninja for a magic sniper type character.

If you have German as primary language, I would hope you would choose to phonetically type in your accent...if you don't want the trouble, maybe German background raised in English speaking country, your choice though.
A note, I hear tell of a sniper...I assume you will use bow or cross bow. Due to the advanced portions of the story I can not allow guns.
I'm also not fond of non standard builds, please help me understand more about this advanced class you have for the witch.
This campaign is created for a massive story that could be written into an entire series of books, spans the breadth of a globe, and will take you to max level in two classes at least. Lanx Kotan, the character is a level 20 polearm fighter and level 20 weapon master monk with 2 mythic levels. You all will match him before the final battle. So keep this in mind as you choose your classes.

Meaning you all will be similar level before you are done. I'll be taking you on your journey but sadly I cannot fight alongside you until we meet this great evil as equals in skill. That is my path chosen by pact with the goddess, Magdh, in exchange for a second chance to defeat the unknown evil that may destroy the world. Will you join me in this quest?

An Arcanist is, in a sense, a mix between prepared and spontaneous caster. I've never played as one myself before, but I've always been interested. The archetype I chose switches out his use of a spellbook with that of a witch's familiar, without the patrons involved. Connectedly, it results in the loss of the traditional sorcerer/wizard spells in favour of the witch spell list. I chose that because it sounded interesting, plus, it could be used as a source of buffing/healing. You can check out the class itself a bit more if curious I suppose, gather your own opinion there.
I'm glad to see you've come about back, this sounds like it'd be super fun. I could certainly make him have a sort've Germanic tint to his speech, but with two ranks in linguistics, he's likely corrected most of those issues over time.
Hmm... If two classes in that sense are the plan, he might eventually obtain the Cleric class, we'll see how it works out though.

Write up your character sheet and prepare an introduction. Everyone had arrived once again at the temple. Just before they prepare to leave a flash of light and you appear in from of Lanx in the temple court yard. Once you have a character sheet start with that and begin your greetings and introduction, ask Lanx your questions and prepare to go West...that is where the group is headed next.

The character is all done...in my head. =) I'll need to give him my full attention to bring him to life, and I'll be able to do that tomorrow.
Lanx: Since you've not run screaming from the class of "Summoner" I'll take it that it's okay to go with that. Of note, I've done some research on it and the reason why people fear it is that it -can- be cheesy: Either by taking two actions per round (attack w/ summon, dismiss, cast another Summon) or by summoning and calling the Eidolon (summoning, casting Call Eidolon). Of note, I'll be doing neither of those. That should put the class on the footing of everyone else.
Thank you for running this. If we do get to level 20, this will be quite a journey. =)

No, you don't understand...by the end of the campaign you will be a level 20 summoner and a level 20 other class...40 levels. It is a massive campaign. It is very easy to level fast if you all go the proper routes with the campaign. There are countless opportunities for experience, not all situations require a sword slashing through a monster...sometimes it can be handled easily another way. Think each situation through really well. You can succeed with less violence than you thought...but sometimes a strong sword arm is the only way to success. There is far to much at stake to show a situation to a peaceable resolution because it sometimes needs a violent nudge instead of a deft word or two.

That's what I love about this campaign - it's not just a narrow path with limited options. It's a huge combination of a little bit of everything! Some situations require thought, some don't, but it's always fun - even if it's something that isn't important to the story line. :) I'm excited that we're going to have more dedicated members now; thank you to everyone that agreed to join!
Lanx Kotan |
I quite agree with this young sneaky man. Lithe and obfuscatory as he may be, he is correct and rightly excited. Our journey will be long and quite arduous, but filled to the brim with exciting choices and story altering paths. You have much ahead of you, I am excited to see your examination of the roads ahead and your execution of future tasks. Ready yourselves, your destiny awaits!

Well this escalated quickly!
Alright, because I'm so stoked for this thing I tried to make it easier on everyone.
For starters, I went with Aasimar. Because I always wanted to play one. Also, there's a theme here. I hope you like it.
The biggest problem with the Summoner is the Eidolon. Basically it can make everyone else in the party feel obsolete...so I got rid of it.
This class takes out the Eidolon and replaces it with some buffs to the Summon ability. Also it puts in buffs to try and have the Summoner NOT spam monsters all over the battlefield.
Hence, there is a very, very good theme going here of divine influence.
I'll expound on this more, but it looks like events move a pace so I wanted to make sure the crunch was alright so I'm not holding anything up.
Tally ho?

Character submission is open, but do keep in mind we will be starting at level 2, as this is a reboot of the campaign. You must have read the campaign backstory and you must write your own backstory as well. Your back story ends when you pick up that book explained in the campaign intro. If you have further questions, make sure you read all content provided on this campaign page, you may also contact me.
Lanx_Kotan |
You get to the temple with the same cloths and items you had on you in the library. Read the introduction sorry to the campaign, read the campaign up till this point. You make it into the temple at the last post by Lanx Kotan in the campaign gameplay area. The temple buys your modern items for the donation that helps you get the quest underway. You keep nothing from the modern world, you get lots of gold in return. Lanx is funding the temple and the temple in turn funds your quests. You get the starting gold for each level, minus the gold you already received, until level 10, then you get money only from income from quests or other things. So the players that were already here from level one already got 200 gold and then at this level up they got 800 gold...total of 1000 gold...the same gold I'm giving you. So, yes, spend to your hearts content...but you have almost no way to get gold right now...So don't spend it all at once.

Name: Katja Zynas
Race: Human
Class: Alchemist (mindchemist)
Bio: Katja was a chemist for a bio-genetic company in the middle of Russia. She worked long hard hours, toiling away in her "clean" room. She was tasked to work on a new formula to help pinpoint cancer in rats...which with any luck could than be used on humans to better prevent/fight cancer.
When she wasn't hard at work, she would take long soaks in her bath, often reading. She stayed away from anything medical or science related as she got her fill of that genre at work. She instead read whatever struck her fancy at the moment: history, documentaries, romance, fantasy. One night while in soaking in the bath, she had apparently fallen asleep. She awoke, in a strange land. At first she thought it was a dream, but soon realized that it was far from that. At the same moment she realized that she was in a real place, she also realized she was taking a bath and covered herself up out of embarrassment. She looks down and saw that she had somehow gotten dressed, she was wearing the same clothes she had when she had returned home after work: a pair of black slacks, with a ruby red turtleneck around her top.
Lanx: Whe..who..what, her brain tries desperately tries to understand everything that is transpiring. She looks around, seeing others. Some are more fight tested, whereas she is but a simple technician for a lab.
She than looks down, and at her feet is a book, the cover is written in Russian, it read "Genetic Formulae".
Please don't hurt me, I..I..I.., she begins to break down ever so slightly at the prospect of never getting back home.
