Numair Alazario |
"He claims only a few are left, and begs us not to send them out into the desert. However, I fail to see any other solution besides killing them outright."
Turning back to the pug, Numair says:
gnoll
Numair Alazario |
"He says the rest are out gathering food. So, how do we want to handle this? We could still kill him, and lie in wait for the rest. Or, we could secure him somehow, wait for the rest, and give them the option to find new quarters; perhaps with the gnolls in the mountains? We could tell them how to reach them."
I can't recall, does the LoF Player's Guide say where the majority of the gnoll tribes are in the region? I don't want to send them to Kelmarane; we'd just run into them again.

they are pretty much all over but out at pale mountain is where the majority of the tribes are
Numair Alazario |
"Well, I would be fine with killing this one and putting his body next to the king. On the other hand, it might go a ways to follow our word; we could secure this one, eliminate the rest when they come back, and then send this one with directions to Pale Mountain. To be honest, I really don't care one way or another, and both options have merit."
Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz |
"Prop up the king, tie our friend here up next to the body with strict instructions to run away, then lets us hide a bit, and jump out just when they get nervous. If that doesn't work, Remos can do what he does best. Now, which direction are they coming from? And where can we hide?"
Map?
Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz |
Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz wrote:Map?what map do you want? Nothing has changed on the monastery map
Ideally a general local map, see if there is a good place to hide. Or failing that, just some idea of which direction the pugs will approach from. I assume they usually return at dusk?
Numair Alazario |
'I'm all for Faysal's plan! How long til they return Numair? We want to get back and report our success to the ku'hanim, Almah.'
"He told me the rest would return after sunset. Faysal's plan seems fine to me."
Numair will tell the pug (in gnoll) what the plan is, tell him how to reach Pale Mountain, and then add, "And be aware: if you return here after we release you to this monastery, we will not be so merciful. Your life will be forfeit."

they will be returning via the front entrance to the monastery in the next few hours. They typically forage alone or in a pair so you would have no way to ambush them reliably outside the monastery. the last MAP has the close surroundings pictured, past that it is just more random scrub and an occasional rock. Let me know where you set up the king and his lackey as well as where each of you hide.
Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz |
I say set them up at the dark patch in the center of church, I'll hide at the far east side of the church behind some pews/benches. Can I keep my above roll, pretty please? :D
Sounds good, we may be here a while scaring off onesie-twosies, but that's better than having to fight them all piecemeal.

after a few hours 3 pugwampis come into the chapel and stop before their dead king and tied up sidekick. The begin to banter in gnoll.
new Pugs:
tied up pug as he gestures in each of your directions:
tied up pug continues:
The new pugs look around and seem to be thinking.
Numair Alazario |
Seeing that their ruse has been given away, Numair stands and whispers, "Everyone up. The tied up pug has told them we're here, but is trying to get them to leave for the mountains. Let's help him convince them."
Numair will speak menacingly in gnoll,
I'm going to make an Aid Another Intimidate check, to assist whoever wants to make the main one (not Numair's strong suit)

The pugs look up as the party one by one jump form their hiding places. First Numiar speaks to them, then Haldo jumps up followed by Makin brandishing his rapier. As Remos jumps out they start a bit and their eyes get wider, then Faysal leaps tot he pew top pushing them to the pinnacle of fear. They grab their buddy and run for the hills.
Makin ibn Fahd |
"What she do? She pay money?" Remos asks.
'Uh, yeah that's the jist of it really.'
...we never looted the chief...
Makin goes up the ladder, and makes his way along the beams towards the pugawampis little nest. If he makes it he searches it for treasure.

"We should keep a watch, in case more return, and inform our employer in the morning. Meanwhile, I need rest to replenish my magic. Should anything happen ... try to keep it quiet." Numair finds a quiet pew, and tries to get some rest.
it was night/evening, correct?
Makin ibn Fahd |
Maybe Makin can go report, and the others can rest and guard the temple. Haldo and Remos are more than able for any combat and I'm sneaky and charisamtic enough not to foul our relations with the boss woman. It's just that we've already taking quite awhile. How far is the caravan?
Faysal Ibn Ahmad Ibn Aziz |
"Bug holes still hurt. Oozing." Remos points to the stirge wounds on his torso, then grabs one of stinger holes and starts squeezing the puss out. "See?"
That's just nasty :P Well done :)
Faysal converts one of his remaining spell slots to a Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
He then sits down and studies the book they found earlier.

the king had a small breastplate, an ornate small warhammer, and a small longbow.
This was the pugwampis’ main lair, knit together like a nest composed of interwoven tapestries, sackcloths, sheets, blankets, and other bits of loose cloth. Similar material has been used to create “walls” along the north and west sides of this habitat, as well as along the rafters. The “chamber” within is redolent of body sweat and liquid waste. Any pugwampis. In a concealed compartment under what could only have been the king's throne you find a ring.

'Okay, you guys identify everything, I'll take an hours jog back to base camp and try to arrive with the cavalry tomorrow morning. By the way, the solid gallery up that ladder is the safest place to sleep. Desna guide you!'
Okay, Makin heads out. The plan is to simply report the pugawampi presence and that we have cleared out the temple. I'll request that Almah and co. move to the Monastery if that isn't already the plan, then get ask Father Zastoran to tend to me while I rest so I get my 2 Con back. Unless anything exceptional happens should we then skip to morning?

which was that roll for? Roll again for the other item.
