The first guard, the one who spoke, grabs the papers from Femi's hands and looks them over. It's a quick scan, not the practiced reading of a professional and he nods as he hands them back. Turning to Elias he raises an eyebrow. "Join the army if you want to be a soldier. Probably better then shuffling all these low lives across the country anyway."

He looks to the other guard and nods toward one of the back rooms. "They need to see Sabo, you lost the last three rounds, so you get to take them.

The second guards huffs as protest but otherwise gets up and leads you along the back hallway and through a few other rooms towards his bosses office. Along the way you see a small room full of bunks and two sleeping guards, and you pass four more in the hallways.

When you're finally led into the office you spy a woman of about middle age in Thruneish colors. She looks up and smiles widely at the guard.

"Hello handsome! What have you brought me today?" The guards eyes immediately turn downward and he makes a conscious effort not look up at hi superior.

"Th-th-they've brought some transfer orders m'am. That's all."

Sabo smiles coyly and taps her nails on the table.
'Well, it was so dutiful of you to bring them here to me. Keep this up and I might even let you sleep in my room someday soon."

The guards face flushes immediately and he about faces almost as quickly with a nod of his head and exits the office. "Just doing my job m'am!" You hear from the hallway as Sabo turns to your group and looks you over.

"Transfer orders, yes? Don't think I've seen you boys before, I would have remembered, always had a thing for boys with horns." Sabo licks her lips in Kalem's direction before sticking her hand out, waiting for the transfer orders.

As she looks them over, she questions the group about their destination, who they represent, and whether or not they consider themselves faithful Asmodeans, among other things.

"Praise be to Asmodeus, creator of meaning, lords of laws. I am so thankful to no longer work for the bumbling government that let so much chaos run freely here... "What a dutiful lot, you boys are." She says as she continues looking over the documents. While reading them over, she listens to your answers, not really answering your questions, as her attention is divided. Eventually she comes out from around her desk and hands the papers back to Femi.

"Your papers are good, you may retrieve your prisoners, since you're in such a rush." Then, without hesitation, she slams the poor mage up against the wall. She keeps her face inches from his, her face no longer playful or welcoming.

Odd that your employer didn't pay for your travel permits. Must not like you boys very much." Without looking she returns back to her desk. One of the guards outside her office nods to you as you exit.

"I'll lead you to the cells." It's a relatively short walk, in the small building. "I-I'm sorry. This one, she was picked by our torturer for her uh, entertainment, today." The man shivers and looks genuinely apologetic. "They're in the torture chamber, just over there you can, uh, go get her if you'd like and show your papers, but, well, I wouldn't recommend it."

The guards eye's go wide as he's confronted by Elias.

"Wh-what!? No...I-" He stops and takes a deep breathe, regaining his composure. "I'm not going in there with you, because I don't want to die. If you want to go in there, be my guest, but it's not a pretty site. Honestly I doubt your transfer papers would matter much, she's been sent by the church and been given leave to do as she pleases. Bone white woman, with knives sticking out of her skin and blood stained tears on her face." He shivers at the thought.

K. Planar DC 22:
This creature is a Kyton. Despicably cruel and equally horrible to gaze upon, kytons are evil fiends who feed on the fear and suffering of mortals through painful supernatural means. Their monstrous appearances vary, but their stoic and amoral dispositions are universal, for no kyton cares anything for the plights typical of the creatures they prey upon. They are beings wholly dedicated to metamorphosis achieved through horrific trials of self-mutilation and the mystical power provided them by their sapping of mortal anguish.

I don't know if our paperwork, or our diplomacy, will have an effect on such a fiend."

"In any event, such a creature should not be allowed to prey on those innocents incarcerated here. We're not here just for our men, I think we should strike a blow as well for all the prisoners. If we can. I don't suppose any of you can bring silence down upon our battle?"

Where is the torture chamber in relation to the nearest guard post? Will they hear any, uh, altercation, we may have? If so, how soon until they arrive?

Elias runs his fingers through his hair, thinking quickly, "Femi, I appreciate that this creature needs to be destroyed, and if we decide to attempt it now, I'll back you all to the hilt, you know that. But if we try to take a devil completely unprepared like this, I am afraid we will ALL die. I do not know much about their kind, but are they not often resistant to both magic and steel? I am set for subterfuge today, not battle. I'll be reduced to simply channeling energy at the creature, and I will have to hedge out the prisoner if I can't keep far enough away, meaning two of you will suffer from my abilities too."

"I think we have to chance it and hope for the best. That or take the other two out now, and leave this man to his fate." Femi looks to Elias, "I have trouble leaving a man behind, but I know sometimes it must be done."

With that he heads back to the front of the building, seemingly shaken and suddenly exhausted.

Femi, you understand enough to know that if someone has been given free leave by the Church to do as they please, this often over rides military orders to the contrary. Very rarely does is the clergy required to bend to the strong arm of Chelish Law.

With Brask at the lead, you make your way down the last hallway pointed out to you, and to the torture chamber.

“And who is this come to my court? Carriers of lies, each of you. I smell your falsehoods. Do you seek my aid in stripping them from you? I am but just started on this subject, so you will need to wait your turns, my hopefuls...”

You hear as you open the door and are greeted by a grisly sight. Standing before you is the kyton, a thin women clad in leather and wire, weeping tears of blood, and her body is pierced in numerous locations by lancelets.

Behind her, on a table is a pretty young brunette covered in horrifying wounds. Her left arm is almost entirely flensed, and her pinky is missing from her right hand. She is thankfully unconscious, but looks close to death.

Done with her opening speech, the kyton rips one of the lancets directly from her skin, and turns her back on the party, walking back toward the prisoner to continue to work.

Thanks for catching that. I originally thought since I could potentially knock someone out, I didn't get damage with it.

Kalem was beginning to see a pattern to how his fights went. He charged in, he took a huge blow, he limped away or fell unconscious. Perhaps the next fight he would change his opening move.

But for now, since none of his alchemical armaments would most likely be useful in this close range fight and with large gaping wounds it would be unwise and try to grapple the creature, Kalem switches tactics.

His survival instincts kick in and every ounce of brin power is thinking of what he could do, anything he could do, to gain the upper hand.

Femi fires a barrage of magic missiles at the kyton, the spell strikes true but does not topple his foe.

Elias channels another wave of dark energy, nearly taking Femi out of the fight. As far as he can tell though, the torturer has also taken the full force of the blow.

Kalem makes creative use of his blood, but unfortunately misses, sending a cup of his blood flying harmlessly across the room even as Myradil misses with his spear.

The kyton smiles and as she does, her wounds close ever so slightly where she had ripped the weapons from her skin.

Seeing Kalem bleeding out, she tries to take the tiefling out while moving ever closer to the rest of the party. Her lancet strikes true, stabbing Kalem in the gut and dropping the tiefling to the floor unconscious.

Femi bleeds out onto the floor as Myradil steps up to flank and with a succesful strike, drops the Kyton the ground.

Elias following his own advice channels more negative energy hoping to cancel out her healing.

Kalem moves ever closer to death, but with the threat gone hopefully he'll recover soon.

Brask suddenly remembers the silver sword Octavio gave the party and, pulling it from the scabbard on Kalem's belt, staps the kyton in the chest. The silver seems to do the trick as the torturers wounds stop closing themselves, and a few more cautionary stabs see her put down permanently.

The Raven's still conscious are now in alone in the torture chamber with a dead kyton and three unconscious humanoids in need of resuscitation.
