Yarr! Hey Euan.
I started skimming through the gameplay thread, but there's a lot to take in.
Taking a quick peek it seems you've currently got:
An Arcanist
A Cleric
A Brawler
A Bloodrager
and have lost your gunslinger.
My initial character application was for a rogue/(eventually) Evangelist of Milani.
My current thought is to go with an Investigator instead, specifically the Majordomo archetype from Ultimate Intrigue. I know this is after occult adventures, which was the baseline in recruitment, and am happy to drop it if its at all an issue.
PFSRD link.
Trades trapfinding for bonuses in uncovering forgeries/paperwork discrepancies.
Trades alchemy for teamwork feats and the ability to grant them to allies.
Trades trap sense for the ability to spend inspiration to let allies accomplish tasks "such as Craft, Profession, magic item creation, spell research, managing a kingdom, using the downtime rules, or other similar tasks" with up to an hour less time. Also lets me count my int as higher for kingdom building rules"
Are there any particular skills or other areas of expertise you folks feel like you're lacking, or that your gunslinger had that I should pay special attention to covering?
Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
Yeah, I haven't really thought of our group in terms of what we lack. So far we've been able to handle things well as a group. Nothing really comes to the surface.
I do think our only option for traps and locks is brute force though, so that could help. That said my philosophy is always to play what you want and we'll make it work as a team.
GM Xynen |
Investigator is my favorite Pathfinder class, so you certainly won't find me discouraging that as an option and the archetype seems fine but I will say that I am not very familiar with the kingdom building rules and I don't know how much they would really come in to play.
I'll also add that I agree with Femi, play what you want, I wouldn't worry too much about what the party lacks.
Brask Ulbreaker |
I think, if anything, Mikhail could have left to move his family out of danger or something.

Myradil Melrani |
Presenting Myradil Melrani. (Some background and then personality notes)
Up until quite recently Myradil worked as a low level clerk in Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus's office.
Needless to say, Barzillai Thrune had little use for former civil servants but since Myradil had stayed away from subversive literature and other 'acts of treason', he only lost his job rather than being jailed or executed.
Since then Myradil has been having an increasingly rough time. He never received his final wages from the city and has been unable to find new work. Having no where else to go, and suspecting he may be on some sort of house Thrune blacklist Myradil has fallen in with the rebellion, where his organizational talents have been put to good use.
It no mayor's office, but at least I get fed sometimes, and when I go hungry its because everybody is going hungry. I really wish things would go back to normal, but it looks like the only way out is through.
Myradil is a somewhat shy follower of Abadar and a bit more concerned with his own wealth and well being than the ideas of the rebellion. He's well organized and thoughtful. That said, he knows first hand how horrible the current government is and thinks it has to be dealt with.
GM Xynen |
Alright Myradil I've got a spoiler section in my recent post directed toward you, so do with that info what you will. Welcome on board, I look forward to playing with you!
Myradil Melrani |
Looks good, let me know if there are any other tweaks or recomendations.
GM Xynen |
So, I'll post a reminder about this when it gets closer but I figured the earlier I give a heads up the better.
From August 1st to August 8th I'll be out camping. My phone will be with me but since we'll be in the mountains I don't know what kind of service I'll have, and I will also have no way of charging it, so if I am able to get online in the evenings it will likely be just for the first couple days of the week.
Since, unlike my other games, this one depends on me to actually move forward, this particular thread will of course have my priority if/when I can get online.
Brask Ulbreaker |
Thanks. Will keep it in mind. Have fun!

So, I came up with the world's cheapest detect invisibility hack, maybe! Cast Bane, and then detect magic and look for a spot of air with a bit of enchantment floating in it!
Probably miserably inaccurate, and now I can't try it at the base anyway cause I'm casting the bane on the guys attacking us, but whatever, it's fun :D
Myradil Melrani |
Considering detect magic already senses the invisibility spell...
Of course you have to concentrate for 3 rounds and then your target might move...

I am back. Mother was taken to the hospital and I spent all day Friday with her, things turned up with the best possible results and she's back home today. She'll still need a bit of extra help so my posting may be a bit slower for the next week or so but you likely won't even notice the difference.
Brask Ulbreaker |
Ill be on the road for the next 48 hours. Sorry

GM Xynen |
My apologies for what looks to be a significant amount of time without posting. My previous post must have been eaten. In any case it seems that you all have a number of ideas for how to proceed. I'll give you some more time to come up with a plan of action, otherwise I'll move forward to the next location later today.
Sorry again about the radio silence guys!
GM Xynen |
Wrapping up the week actions now. Was there anything in particular you wanted Pavus and Co. to look for with their Gather Information check?
Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
Perfect Elias. You have my vote.
Myradil Melrani |
No objections.
Myradil Melrani |
I was trying to look through the both discussion and gameplay to get all the rebellion mechanics together in my head.
Here's how I think the book says things happen. Please help me out if I'm missing anything/made mistakes/we're doing things more awesomely.
Phase 1 Upkeep:
We've got a DC 10 loyality check. If failed we lose 2d4+5 supporters (which would drop us down to rank 4)
On a natural 20 we'd gain 1d6 instead.
We aren't notorious enough to all get arrested or short enough on gold to have people start leaving us so we'd move on to...
Phase 2 Activity:
At Rank 5 we get 2 Rebellion actions (Myradil as strategist would increase that to 3)
Assuming we wanted to go with Kalem's suggestion and get some merchants
We would take the Upgrade Team action and spend 50gp and improve
Harley's Merchant Coalition from Peddlers to Merchants.
That would leave us 2 other actions. (And we have a -4 on all security checks, -2 is somebody can make a dc 20 survival)
---
That all sound right so far?
Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
Myradil, absolutely correct.
I think we need to put you into the position as well. An action called 'Change Officer Role', but I'm not sure it's needed the first time.
So here's what Femi suggests this week.
- Upgrade Team (Peddlers -> Merchants)
- Recruit Supporters (we're a little lean as Myradil points out)
- Change Officer Role (to get Myradil) or Earn Gold (if Myradil can just step into the role)
Sound good?
Eliastraza Malifinion |
I approve! Flavor-wise, supporters AMONG the merchants could help, but in the long run we're a little dry everywhere.
Who wants to try the survival roll?
GM Xynen |
As a reminder Recruit Supporters is locked until you drop below 20. You've still got 30 supporters at the moment.
And to answer Femi's questions, placing Myradil in as a strategist will not cost an action, that can be done freely.
Brask Ulbreaker |
I have no survival. :/

Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
Yeah, I have a +1 so I guess I'll try and make it if no one else can.
As for our weeks events, how 'bout this list?
- Upgrade Team (Harley's Merchants: Peddlers -> Merchants)
- Upgrade Team (Black Feathers: Freedom Fighters -> Infiltrators)
- Earn Gold (Fushi Sisters)
It'll be expensive, but I like the idea that we can send a team in to save a character in distress... :) If we don't want to spend the money, I suggest then that we find a new team in the Outlaw category. We can hire some Sneaks to help us hide supplies around the city.
GM Xynen |
As a reminder. Teams can be appointed Managers from among the officers. An Officer may manage a number of teams equal to their charisma bonus. When making a roll using a managed team the managers charisma bonus is applied as well. Not only does this increase chances of success, but in the case of the Gather Gold option, the result is multiplied by the tier of the team that took the action which means more gold.
So, for example, if you choose Harley's team to gather gold next week they must roll a security check and multiply that amount by 2, meaning the lowest amount of gold they can get is a 12 (Roll of 1 + 5). If Elias becomes the manager of that team then the lowest they can achieve is 18g, (1+5+3), 22g if Femi provides his bonus that week (1+5+3+2).
Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
If we manage teams, does it detract at all from our other duties? In other words, is this just something we've been missing, or is there a trade off?
Assuming we've just been missing it, I'd love to manage the Fushi Sisters. Anyone else want to sign up for a team?
GM Xynen |
Managing does not seem to cost any extra work, nor do teams require a manager, it's just another option for play. I'll add Femi in as manager of the Fushi Sisters. Anyone else who wishes to manage a team or teams, let me know and I'll add you in.
Please Note Starting tomorrow I'll be on vacation until August 8th. I will attempt to post as often as is reasonable but I can't promise any sort of regularity. Feel free to roleplay or discuuss future rebellion actions, etc. while I'm away.
GM Xynen |
Normally I would bot Elias and Brask at this time, but since we had a delay of game for a week, I'm going to give them one more day to post for the current round, then I'll resume the game at the normal pace.
Eliastraza Malifinion |
posted me action! sorry for the delay, sudden work insanity took away my entire day yesterday.

Leveling up to 3 gave some more HP/skills/saves.
Picking up Underworld Inspiration so I get free inspiration on Bluff, Disable Device, Disguise, Intimidate and sleight of hand.
I also have Inspired Manager, I can spend an inspiration and 1 minute to make a plan to let an ally spend 30-60 minutes less on a longterm task. Also my int counts as 2 higher if I'm in a kingdom role where that matters.
I've also got Keen Recollection and can make all knowledge checks unarmed.

Are we still poor? I'd like to try to get a masterwork Cutlass so it helps my attack rolls. I figure if the dice roller's gonna hate, stack my + bonuses so I can at least hit SOMETHING.

Not counting the Silver Ravens we carry, we're right at Wealth By Level. Last level we were over a little so it might feel like we didn't make as much this level as we might have. And of course, low level parties don't get much loot anyway and we've given some to the rebellion.
You're even ahead of the rest of us a little as you picked up the amulet of natural armor. A good item, and worth holding on to. We just have to be patient... :(
Brask Ulbreaker |
Yeah. I'm sorry i wasnt trying to be greedy.

Kalem Riker |
Brask, remember that Kalem loaned you a great deal of gold so you could outfit in plate early. As a fist fighter he doesn't need much in weapons, but he'd like to get repaid sometime.
Will work on leveling either later tonight or tomorrow.
Euphemia 'Femi' Ferka |
No need to apologize - I'm greedy. And I hate waiting... :)
GM Xynen |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
And I hate waiting... :)
On that note, I apologize for the current wait. It's a mixture of me wanting to make sure everyone is leveled (I know weekends tend to be difficult for some of our group) when we move on and this weekend being busier than expected.
I'll give Kalem and Elias a little bit longer to get leveled than I'll move us forward.
Kalem Riker |
HP +7
Maneuver Training (Ex)
At 3rd level, a brawler can select one combat maneuver to receive additional training. She gains a +1 bonus on combat maneuver checks when performing that combat maneuver and a +1 bonus to her CMD when defending against that maneuver.
At 7th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the brawler becomes further trained in another combat maneuver, gaining the above +1 bonus combat maneuver checks and to CMD. In addition, the bonuses granted by all previous maneuver training increase by 1 each. (For example, if a brawler chooses grapple at 3rd level and sunder at 7th level, her bonuses to grapple are +2 and bonuses to sunder are +1. If she then chooses bull rush upon reaching 11th level, her bonuses to grapple are +3, to sunder are +2, and to bull rush are +1.)
