Gregor joins in the women's search, like Drakus, as an authority. Hoping that his presence will help in the search. As Drakus splits off with Nik'o, Gregor resignedly continues on with Pai, worried about what wrong impression she may get. "If we can find at least one of the coins, maybe we could use it as a catalyst to discover the nature of the illness. I doubt we will find them all, that's for certain."

Diplomacy to Gather info 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21.

she than asks Gregor
"Even if we find a infected coin, how do you suppose we transport it without infecting ourselves?"

she'll take note of any shops where "Patient Zero" went and what size of currency used.

Diplomacy to Gather info:

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

(Male Half-elf Urban Ranger 1/Bard 4)

Gregor looks thoughtful at Pai's question, "What did you intend to do when we found where they were spent in the first place? We are tracking them down for a purpose, presumably to get them off the streets. It's as simple as turning a glove inside out to collect it. If you are just looking to find the possibly infected townsfolk, that will solve nothing, if we do nothing further than issue warnings. We need to find the coins if possible, and remove them from distribution."

(CotCT GameMaestro)

The group that moves off to investigate is able to realize that the plague is already spreading, you see signs of the phage in its early stages, coughing and the blemishes. You realize finding the specific location where the coins were distributed is not really relevant as the disease is spreading on its own now, seems to be beyond a few coins...

as she observes the streets and the people she thinks
Crap, no use in a quarantine now, it's an outbreak.

"Looking at the folks here. I'd have to say a quarantine is useless now,
as it looks like it'll be an outbreak soon.
I think it would be wise to start preparing for the coming storm.
I believe the correct course of action now is to start getting protection for ourselves and remove disease scrolls for Donagar to use."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"All tha more reason tah get ahold o my wand."

(Male Human Fighter- L5 | AC23 | hp 54/54 | Percep +0)

"Blast it! We need to warn the Field Marshal and we need to do it now!"
He turns to Nik'o.
"Can you run with me, or will you be all right on your own? I gotta bring word to the 'boss ma'am', and I gotta do it right now."

(Male Half-elf Urban Ranger 1/Bard 4)

He looks worriedly at Pai as he reaches the same conclusion about the possible epidemic, "I think it would be in the city's best interest if we could compel the churches to waive any fees for casting for the general populace. If they only cat on those who can pay, all of Korvosa will suffer." He ponders briefly, "I think I should inform the Field Marshal, maybe she can get a proclamation issued." He turns to head toward the Citadel, making sure to avoid any contact with the citizens.

"I agree."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"Fine let's warn tha field marshal, but once tha proclamation goes out an people figure this is fatal a wand is gonna cost a hunnerd times what it would right now!"

in a slightly more girlish voice and tone than normal
"So, lets get shopping and get it before it gets out of stock."

(-1 Con -2 Cha from sickness)

Nik'o turns to Pai: "All right, I'll go with Drakus. Here are some stones. Use them well." She hands a pouch with numerous small gemstones, totalling 500 gp in worth.

She then starts running after Drakus, wondering what kind of hell the city will turn into, again!

(Male Human Fighter- L5 | AC23 | hp 54/54 | Percep +0)

"All right, let's move out!"
Sgt. Drakus sets out at a punishing pace.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 5)

Marra's jaws tightens as she watches a little girl begin to cough spasmodically.

"By Iomedae, if this was done purposefully and these people die, I vow to find and bring to justice those involved."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"Thanks fer tha gems, Im off tah see a man err dwarf bout a wand."

(CotCT GameMaestro)

Who you going to see Donagar?

costs:
fully charged 3rd level wand...11,250 gp, potion 750gp, scroll 375 gp.

she thinks
"What was the street price for remove disease as;
a potion, scroll or wand.
Since scrolls can only be used by casters or those with magical trickery, so they're cheaper so guessing 350 to 400 gp,
and since potions can be used by anyone they cost about twice as much, so 700 to 800 gp
and wand are the most expensive and can only be used by casters or those with magical trickery like scrolls, but wands can be reused a good number of times, so it should be near 10,000 GP to 14,000 GP."

"Great this is making me regret not doing any magical tricky training."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"Im guessin iffen I ken find a church o mah order I might be able tah gets a better price."

"Not expectin tah get 50 uses out o one, but maybe at least 20 fer a good price."

Cayden Cayleen church of course!

"I think we might need more than 20 uses for the next week or two."

(Male Half-elf Urban Ranger 1/Bard 4)

"I think it irrational to believe that whatever uses we have will be enough to prevent an outbreak. We'd be best to use them just for ourselves as we help the citizens, and try to plead to the churches to waive the fees as much as possible."

"You have a point and I would have to agree,
In that we have to get the churches to waive the fees as much as possible and as long as the outbreak lasts and the last patient is cured."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"O course w kent save everone, but we ken try an keep tha sick away from tha well, tha ability tah help tha sick in some way should get us some cooperation err murdered in err beds."

"It's near impossible to save everyone,
but saving as many as possible is and the right thing to do."

(-1 Con -2 Cha from sickness)

Nik'o keeps running with Drakus.

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 5)

and of course your direct actions will affect the survival rates...

So everyone is pitching in for the cure disease for the little girl yes? Marra is.

"Once we get her cured and recovered she can tell us more about where she got the coins."

Curing the girl is enough to advance the party to 5th level. Begin advancement this weekend.

"I'll pitch in to save her."

I think I mentioned that idea earlier.

(CotCT GameMaestro)

Mai Asta Isabella wrote:

yeah it was bandied about, just having Marra throw in her support for it. With that advancement, Donagar should be able to cast it now as well..

If Donagar is able to cast it now that will help alot.

"Nice! It's like that thing about giving fish or learning how to fish! But did you get a wand after all?" She asks, wondering about the gemstones she lent the dwarf.

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"I has tah rest an we ken see bout makin a wand, not one avaialbe tah buy though."

Donagar prays and then rests for the evening.

Heh, OK, how about they offer to sell you a pair of scrolls?

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"A pair of scrolls should hold me in good stead, thank you."

I hope you fill up on remove disease.

So I have one memorized!

(CotCT GameMaestro)

Resistance orisons?

I see the post I tried to post didn't show up...huh...oh well do it again.

You spend the rest of the day running down leads, you track down the box and get it off a beggar for a mere 5gp. He is showing signs of the disease as well, you find out he was given a silver coin near the Bank of Abadar. Nearly everywhere you look, the poor and middle class citizens are getting sick, or are sick.

I will need everyone to make 2 fortitude save for the day.

New Test Rule:
I am ALSO instituting a new play-test for something I'm working on, ALL skill tests and Saving throws will use 2d10 instead of a d20. I'm not going to test attack rolls yet...so just saves and skill checks. (Note, all DCs will be one higher for skill checks, saves will remain the same.)

(Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 5)

Fort Saves
2d10 + 6 ⇒ (10, 9) + 6 = 25
2d10 + 6 ⇒ (10, 5) + 6 = 21

The 2d10 method has a bell curve effect where the most likely result will be 11 with 2's and 20's being dam rare.
Where a single d20 has no bell curve and every result has equal chance.

(Male Half-elf Urban Ranger 1/Bard 4)

Fort Saves
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (4, 7) + 5 = 16
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (6, 8) + 5 = 19

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

Fortitude saves
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (5, 4) + 5 = 14
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (9, 7) + 5 = 21

Wow this is going to be one heck of an outbreak

(-1 Con -2 Cha from sickness)

Cool test. I was very curious about 2d10 and wanted to try it, so I am happy to be a lab rat! Snake eyes could as a natural 1?

Nik'o's mood gets darker as she takes in the scope of the epidemic as it seems to spread through everyone but the rich and the richer. She drinks foul tea, her mother's recipe, in the vain hope that it will keep the disease at bay.

Fort: 2d10 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10
Fort: 2d10 + 3 ⇒ (7, 5) + 3 = 15

Fort
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (2, 3) + 5 = 10
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (10, 3) + 5 = 18

(Male Human Fighter- L5 | AC23 | hp 54/54 | Percep +0)

Fort save: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11
Fort save: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (10, 10) + 7 = 27

I assume we successfully deliver the news to the Field Marshall. Does she have any orders for us? If not, I will return to Donagar.

absolutely correct and yes, snake eyes would count as a 1. I want to see how it works out in practice with saves and skill checks first.

"Good Drakus, Gregor and Nik'o you are here. I'm just now getting reports from the city indicating a plague breaking out, and the Queen has already sent a missive about protecting her doctor. I'm a bit suspicious that the Queen is already moving on this, almost before the actual plague was apparent."

(Male Dwarf Cleric 5)

"An who is tha good doctor?"

(Male Human Fighter- L5 | AC23 | hp 54/54 | Percep +0)

Sgt. Drakus raises an eyebrow.
"Orders ma'am?

(CotCT GameMaestro)

Donagar wrote:

you don't know yet, as Donagar is not with Drakus, Nik'o and Gregor.

Group A:
Marra, Mai, Donagar are together investigating per the previous post.

Group 1:
Nik'o Gregor and Drakus are currently meeting with the Field Marshall and are probably 2 hours behind Group A after they waited for an audience with the Field Marshall.
