Mai Asta Isabella |
she walks to your spot and ask with her voice having a more playful tone at the end
"And what can I get you Sargent?
Dragon's Ale, Elven Mead, Ager's 11, The Black Jack, Dwarven Beer, Bond's Booze, The MacGuffin or Love Wine for the two of you."
Mai Asta Isabella |
@Donagar
"one Dragon's Ale, one Elven Mead, one Ager's 11, one Black Jack, one Dwarven Beer, one Bond's Booze, one MacGuffin and one Love Wine.
I should warn you the Love Wine is a strong Aphrodisiac, generally used by couples.
And The Black Jack is the strongest stuff known in booze "
Dragon's Ale, Fort DC:14,
Elven Mead, Fort DC:10,
Ager's 11, Fort DC:11,
The Black Jack, Fort DC:21, <-Strong stuff
Dwarven Beer, Fort DC:12
Bond's Booze, Fort DC:13
The MacGuffin, Fort DC:12
Mai Asta Isabella |
as she speaks she starts at a neutral tone, but it becomes a playful tone and playful smile at the end.
"One dragon ale coming up. It's a shame you two look like a good couple."
Mai Asta Isabella |
having some difficulty keeping her playful tone in check from Drakus' reaction to her earlier question.
"And what will the lady have?
Dragon's Ale, Elven Mead, Ager's 11, The Black Jack, Dwarven Beer, Bond's Booze, The MacGuffin or Love Wine."
Panish Valimer |
Panish leans back, "Wow. Who knew? Blackjack of all people..." he has a calculating look, then nods to himself. "I need to follow-up on some things at the temple. I'll see you guys later." With that he gets up and heads out for Iomedae's temple.
With that I would like to excuse myself and Panish from this campaign; please find a good replacement for myself. I find myself in too many campaigns currently and decided I needed to cull away a bit. Have a great game guys!

Drinking rules (3.5): for each drink passed the first you take an additional -1 on the next save, in 1 hour. so Donagar failed 2 saves
@Donagar
"So what happened at the execution stage, as I got there late to see what happened?"
DM X |
Alright Panish/LoreKeeper I understand, especially with your wife dropping out of this PbP as well. We're going to be starting the Second part of the AP soon, There will be a new thread for it as well. Do you guys know anyone who wants to jump into a game? I really liked the interaction with the two Iomedaeans though.
Field Marshall Kroft - NPC |
Let us continue whilst I recruit another to replace Panish. I'll actually keep this thread running, since it's part of the new campaign tracking system anyway.
You have returned to the Field Marshall after your foray at the Dragon's Horde while the crowds die down.
"Welcome back my friends, The Queen has gone into seclusion within the Castle Walls. Many of the older guards have quit their posts. You have proven yourselves, name a reward and we shall see if we can provide it."
DM X |
Yes, Vencarlo Orsini actually made an appearance at the Dragon's Horde and drank with you into the evening. Laughing with Donagar about his challenge to BlackJack. Vencarlo mentions the need for Field Marshall Croft needing additional trustworthy agents.
EDIT:I'm reading through the next part of the AP, getting my mind around it. Bear with me plz
Mai Asta Isabella |
she bows towards Marra and in polite voice and tone
"My name is Pai, It is a pleasure to meet you."
she sees an Half-elven Woman of about 6 foot 0 and around 180 pounds. She has inherited comely elven features with a curvy human build with pale skin, But her face is more elven with Golden Amber eyes and lose Copper Red Hair that ends near her waist.
She is wearing martial artist clothes, and she has two swords, and a shortbow on her.
Mai Asta Isabella |
"Donagar, is a loyal customer at my family's bar "The Dragon's Horde."
He told me what had happened at the execution grounds, and of the appearance of "Twin Tails," so name because of the twin pony tails.
She was the one who kicked the executioner off the stage and into a manure wagon.
Donagar also interviewed me, while he downed multiple drinks. Including the drink know as "Blackjack" which is the strongest stuff there is."
Nik'o |
Where Nik'o introduces herself to the group and hopes to learn more about the latest events and be of better use in saving the city from itself.
Nik'o had managed to catch a glimpse of the new heroes of Korvosa at the execution. for days she had fought in the streets of Korvosa, for Korvosa, or so it seemed to her. Yet, she remained puzzled by Blackjack's recent play and wondered if there was more to the assassination of her ruler than what had transpired through her meager contacts at the Guard.
And so she shadowed the heroes to the "Dragon's Horde". She quickly became upset as it seemed the evening would be more about drinking than anything else, until Orsini showed up. Then things got more interesting.
And so she arrived that morning for the meeting with Field Marshall Kroft, acting as if she belonged there. From the group's point of view, as someone who had also been called, but for others, as if she was an actual member of the group.
As she entered the room, she quickly made a plea for her presence: "Field Marshall! I ask that you forgive me for my little act, but I needed to be here with you, with them, for I am eager to serve the crown and the city in any way possible. The Kaladan family owns the Lady Ashax cafe and has been a good subject of Korvosa for decades. I have served with the Guard in the streets for many days now, maintaining order, but I wish for more! And more I can do if I have companions so inclined. I have heard of these brave men who also stood between Korvosa and the mob."
She turns towards the group, smiling: "You have proven yourselves, and I wish to serve alongside you! If you would have me..."
Nik'o stands in front of you, a small human in her twenties with jet black short hair and a proud posture. Her eyes are alight with passion. She wears a very classic dress of Cheliax make, but adorned with Varisian inspired jewelry. A smile slowly creeps up on her painted lips
Gregor Ward |
At Nik'o's plea, one of the guards comes forward toward the Field Marshall. His measured pace, and the hard soled boots making a notable *Click-Clack* as he walks, show that the man takes his job to heart.
"Ma'am, shall I have her removed for her impertinence?" He asks Cressida encouragingly.
He stands stark upright, at the long practiced position of attention. His hand resting on the hilt of his weapon formally, as he waits for her response. He nods to the others in the group, as if to ensure them that he will take care of it so that they won't need to. This last act sparks recognition. He was there when Trinia was turned over, he was there in the aftermath of the splinter group at the butcher shop. He is one of the common sights whenever the Field Marshall mentions her 'trusted agents'. Through all the chaos and anarchy after the king's death, he is one of the guard that has stayed resolute and focused in his devotion to the cause of the Korvosan Guard.
He is dressed in the typical wear of the guard, long sword at his waist, and chain shirt under the tabard of the guard with a heavy shield across his back. His boots are polished to a shine, and his uniform looks inspection ready. It's tough to tell with his helmet on, but his frame and features make him look like he might just be slight for a human.
The profile isn't quite done, been having issues with my HeroLabs. I'll roll his disguise to look Human, but with his modifier even a 1 is a 21. 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
Donagar |
"Well tha both o yah will have tah pardon me.... I don't seem tah recollect yah, but I tend tah drink an I been bashed bout tha head a ears a few times....not by tha Blackjack guy I challenged him to a duel an he scee-daddled fast as he could get."
Nik'o |
Seeing the guard closing her window of opportunity, Nik'o jumps at the chance offered by Donagar's question: "I'm certain you didn't see me, as I mostly didn't see you either, though heard of your prowess I have! The city was in uproar left and right, and I can only guess that you worked right when I did left. Anyhow, I've served alongside the Guard in maintaining order, but wish to do so in a more concrete way, which is why I have spied on you, so to speak, to find out about this meeting. The town and the crown need all the help they can get. Mine is offered freely!"
Mai Asta Isabella |
Mai thinks to herself
She is not very subtle in her spying work. I spotter her following them one week ago, and she did not notice me spying on both her and them.
Mai has a slight smile and grin on her face, which she quickly puts a way when she notices she has a smile and grin.
Gregor Ward |
she looks at the newcomers
Perception: 1d20+11
She knows, but won't tell for now.
After getting him ironed out, he actually has a +21 to look Human, and in predominantly Human societies (Korvosa) can take 10, because of the feat. Knowing that now, since he doesn't 'try' to look Human, he will always be taking 10. So his total should have been, and always will be, a 31. If the DM prefers to stick to the roll though, it's cool.
Gregor waves away Donager's explanation, as if unnecessary, "No problems, Sir Dwarf. I understand it is only in your nature to be deep in your drinks, and would not expect you to be any different than the others of your kind." His words are sincere, but there is just something about the way he says it.
Marra "The Phoenix" Warblade |
"Y'know Donagar, if you weren't a dwarf, I'd think you were actually joking about challenging BlackJack...in the middle of his rescue of an innocent. I don't know if you watched the way Blackjack moved, I did, you have as much chance of defeating him in a duel as I have of out drinking you...Did you seriously think he'd duel you during the rescue?"
Gregor Ward |
Gregor rolls his eyes, "BlackJack, pssh.. If he truly wanted to rescue innocents he would work for the city, not against it. If he has proof that someone is innocent, maybe he should present it to the appropriate authorities instead of taking matters into his own hands. When citizens resort to vigilantism, the city, the people, and all order suffers." He seems irritated, but not actually mad, like he is okay with the man's last act but not willing to admit it to anyone anytime soon.
Mai Asta Isabella |
Mai looks at Gregor.
"Ah, but there is one flaw in your statement.
What if part of the appropriate authorities was and or is corrupt and injuring innocent people.
That could be the reason Blackjack goes and resorts to vigilantism."
Gregor Ward |
The guardsman narrows his eyes at the young woman, before speaking in a calm and measured tone. "Are you trying to implicate that there is corruption amongst the guard? Amongst the Hellknights, understandable, they are Chelaxian to a fault, most significantly in the nature of corruption. Even the Sable Marines, heavy with their soft elven members eager to follow a more carefree stance on the laws. The Guard though, the Guard is a proud and noble service that has stood with Korvosa almost as long as Korvosa has stood." He looks at her with disdain, "Now, you may appreciate what this lawless 'hero' is doing, but if more people would support the Guard instead of supporting people taking the law into their own hands, then they wouldn't be fulfilling their own ideas that the law isn't working in their favor. Simply put, the more you empower the Korvosan Guard, the more you empower the people. We are the people's guard, the city's guard, and we do not stand for anyone or anything above the glory of Korvosa herself." If the man defends himself as well as he defends the Guard, he will be a hard person to take down.
Nik'o |
Nik'o, uncertain whether she should draw attention to herself, offers, trying to keep the tension down: "In any case, I guess we would all agree that we'd like a conversation with him... For a start!"
She smiles and laughs at the last bit, her laughter ringing almost like clear water splashing over a lush garden.
Mai Asta Isabella |
she replies in a clam, polite and sincere voice
"Then can you than say with 100% absolute certainty that no guard, Korvosan noble or government official has broken the law, and got a way with it, this even covers bribes, kickbacks, fraud, under the table payments, drug use on duty, insider selling, and or looking the other way when a crime is done."
she pauses, takes a breath and continues in a clam, polite and sincere voice
"We as individuals our entitled to our own opinions, and as such this has not right or wrong answer."
Gregor Ward |
Gregor responds in kind, "Oh, I am most certain that many a Korvosan Noble or government official has done any number of those things. However, since they are not above the law, and flawed is any member of this society that thinks they are, when discovered they should be subject to the laws as they stand." He continues, "Any guard that may have fallen prey to any of those deeds, either no longer represents the guard or is, even worse, empowered by a corrupt member of society. A guard cannot; take a bribe unless offered, drink on duty unless served, or fall prey to any of the others unless granted that ability by the citizenry. If the society would uplift the guard, then the guard would be better able to stand for the people."
"I'll grant you, that after the events at the execution of trying to feed the crowd an imposter of someone found to be innocent, to appease the masses warrants an investigation into why this was done. It was not done, however, by the Korvosan Guard. If this BlackJack has the power to determine someone innocent from afar with one look, then I say again, he would be of better use to the whole city as a member of the guard." He finishes his diatribe with a smug smile.
Donagar |
"Blackjack makes his own choices, I also make mah own choices, iffen yah thinks it through, yeah so yah say Blackjack was too busy tah duel, an I was not fer chasen him all over town so I challenged him."
"Thas mah story an I am stickin to it......Can't argue with tha outcome."
Mai Asta Isabella |
she replies in a clam, polite and sincere voice
"But if he was a guard and known to cause trouble to the corrupt, then he would be silenced by corrupted guards. That is where vigilantism with an anonymous figure has more freedom, and protection." She finishes her small speech with a smug smile.
Looks like Mai and Gregor, may have a small rivalry of sorts.
