Male Human Fighter- L6 | AC26 (T12FF26) CMD27 | hp 61/64 | Saves: F9 R5 W5 | Percep +0

On vacation, back Monday.

Male Human Fighter- L6 | AC26 (T12FF26) CMD27 | hp 61/64 | Saves: F9 R5 W5 | Percep +0

Are we using the "recalculate hp when con is lost" rule?
I think I lose 10 hp off Max if that is the case...

Please note I'll be mostly away Monday and Tuesday.

Please note I'll be away from Friday to Monday.

My vacation plans are pretty much settled.

Approximately, I'll be away:

June 14-17, no access
June 23 to July 24, no access
July 28 to August 5, spotty access

Yes Drakus, sorry I'm horrible for checking the discussion thread.

OK Nik'o

Male Half-elf Urban Ranger 1/Bard 5 (AC: 21 [T: 13 /FF: 19]; HP: 39/47; F+5, R+9, W+5; Init: +4; Perc: +11 [Low-light vision])

Just a head's up, for the next week I will be on leave. I may only be able to update here and there.

My plans have changed dramatically (in a good way in fact), so I'll be bearer a computer than I thought this Summer. I'll give the dates where I can't post as usual.

Please note that I'll be far from a computer from Thursday the 28, until probably Sunday the 8. I might have limited access, but nothing is certain at this moment.

OK Niko, everyone have a good 4th of July!

Please note I probably won't be able to post from Friday to Monday.

Please note that, starting Thursday, I will have very reduced access to Internet and might not be able to post, or not so often, for a week and a half.

I think it would be wise to buy some silver sheen, and other anti-vampire goodies.

Male Dwarf Cleric 6

alchemists fire and holy water....

a holy water each to splash this vamp would rip him apart in a round or 2!

CotCT GameMaestro

The Vampire isn't that close to turning to mist, it has only been hit by you and Donagar's channel..

Male Human Fighter- L6 | AC26 (T12FF26) CMD27 | hp 61/64 | Saves: F9 R5 W5 | Percep +0

I only see the one vamp on the map, is the other one out of sight of us?

CotCT GameMaestro

The other two are coming out of the wall next to marra, I haven't had a chance to update the map yet.

I'll be away until Monday.

Male Dwarf Cleric 6

Trying to sort out knowledge skills versus plain old things that are taken for granted as things all PCs know.

I have assumed that standard gear and what it is used for is widely known to every adventurer.

Imagined while purchasing initial gear from a shop owner.

PC: "What is that?"
NPC store owner: "Holy water"
PC: "How much?"
NPC store owner: "25 gold"
PC: "What does it do?"
NPC store owner: "kills undead, even ghosts"
PC: "How do you kill ghosts?"
NPC store owner: "Splash it on them"
PC: "Wow I better get some"

Or can we "assume" even the dumbest fighter knows the full description of holy water...

full description

Holy/Unholy Water
Source Core Rulebook

Holy water damages undead creatures and evil outsiders almost as if it were acid. A flask of holy water can be thrown as a splash weapon.

Treat this attack as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet. A flask breaks if thrown against the body of a corporeal creature, but to use it against an incorporeal creature, you must open the flask and pour the holy water out onto the target. Thus, you can douse an incorporeal creature with holy water only if you are adjacent to it. Doing so is a ranged touch attack that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

A direct hit by a flask of holy water deals 2d4 points of damage to an undead creature or an evil outsider. Each such creature within 5 feet of the point where the flask hits takes 1 point of damage from the splash.

Temples to good deities sell holy water at cost (making no profit). Holy water is made using the bless water spell.

Please note I'll be away until Monday night. I'll have very very limited access from time to time, but don't expect much.

CotCT GameMaestro

Generally, players always think their characters know way too much, thus not buying points in knowledge skills...

Basically the skill check identifies actual weaknesses, at the lowest level it identifies what the creature is. Vampire=Undead (Human) in this case.

Knowledge skills:

Answering a question within your field of study has a DC of 10 (for really easy questions), 15 (for basic questions), or 20 to 30 (for really tough questions).

You can use this skill to identify monsters and their special powers or vulnerabilities. In general, the DC of such a check equals 10 + the monster’s CR. For common monsters, such as goblins, the DC of this check equals 5 + the monster’s CR. For particularly rare monsters, such as the tarrasque, the DC of this check equals 15 + the monster’s CR or more. A successful check allows you to remember a bit of useful information about that monster. For every 5 points by which your check result exceeds the DC, you recall another piece of useful information.

The issue is what every adventurer knows, in my eyes, not every adventurer knows as much as you just described UNLESS you're part of the Pathfinder Society. A follower of Pharasma would most likely know how to deal with undead, you know how to deal with beer being a follower of Cayden...Also how to tap a keg.

The minimum in this case was DC14. To identify ONE weakness you'd need a 19.

The Paladin of Iomedae would have known all about it....hmmm...

I'll allow your knowledge to stand this time, only about the holy water affecting undead, you know almost nothing else about Vampires, other than they're very dangerous.

Male Dwarf Cleric 6

I generally agree with the premise that DC 10+CR rating to identify a monster as having a certain weakness, undead though share just the one main one and it is holy water......

but the idea you need a knowledge check of DC X+? does not always work!

If you "know" holy water affects undead
Is this common knowledge among persons purchasing starting adventuring gear? If not the merchant would likely inform any 1st level character about what they are selling in the hopes of them buying it.

DC 11 for skeletons (possibly a 6 if skeletons are common)

changing the DC for say a giant skeleton
(a skeleton in a giant size)

DC becomes 17........

This becomes instead a rule of thumb situation

Someone screams "undead" (ie rolls high enough to id the threat)
someone else says "hose it" (even if no one rolled high enough)

I think this case is an exception to the general rule in that undead & holy water connection is well established....In purchasing initial gear.....

Male Dwarf Cleric 6

Ok no worries posted in rules questions to see how others think about this topic. Lets forget about it and move on with being Buffy (the vampire slayers)......

I'm not saying a word on how to twist that last sentence, Donagar

CotCT GameMaestro

which is why I allowed it, but generally that's a setting+gamemaster decision. In high magic/high fantasy settings, yes, generic magic shoppes abound, and there might be a merchant specialized in all things adventure, in a low magic/gritty setting holy water might not even exist.

The Pathfinder Society fills the adventurer supply role in Golarion. I don't remember seeing Adventurer Supply shop on the Varisia map however, and as I said, I think Cayden's holy water is in it is probably actually created from beer...heh

Please note I'll be mostly away from a computer from Thursday night to Monday night.

I hope we spot the suckers just as you get back.

Please note I'll be away from Friday to Monday, with little or no access to Internet.

Male Human Fighter- L6 | AC26 (T12FF26) CMD27 | hp 61/64 | Saves: F9 R5 W5 | Percep +0

For some reason the boards don't notify me when someone posts.

Current: alias: Pai

The boards were messed up for a little over a week,
the focus feature was not reliable at all since dots and X new were on and off.

Please note I'll be away from Friday until Monday, with limited or no access to a computer.

Current: alias: Pai

You'll need to re-dot any campaigns your in as the system has wiped them out to a degree

Please note I'll be away from Thursday to Monday, without any real access to a computer.

I'll be away for a few days. Should be back Sunday night. Probably no internet.

Christmas time coming up... Please note I'll be away from a computer from Friday until Monday night. after that, I'll have a hard time posting regularly until the new year starts.

Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for the great gaming and may 2013 be filled with happiness IRL and great drama in PbP!

Happy New Year Everyone

I will be mostly out of touch this weekend.

Male Human Fighter- L6 | AC26 (T12FF26) CMD27 | hp 61/64 | Saves: F9 R5 W5 | Percep +0

OK, I've lost the thread of what we are doing/planning.
Can I request a recap from the GM? It may help prod us forward...

I'll be mostly away from a computer until Monday, so posting will be accidental. Feel free to move along without me if needed. I'll catch up.

Please note I'm in a crunch and participation will be spotty until Tuesday.

I'm away for a few days.

Male Dwarf Cleric 6

I will be on vacation starting tomorrow until 4/29.
My posting maybe either spotty or absent depending upon the circumstances

Please note I won't be able to post much, if at all, during the weekend.

I'm away this weekend.

Current: alias: Pai

Had a quick moment

and rendered myself

Mai Asta Isabella in barmaid clothing

It's rendered using Daz Studio 4.5

Current: alias: Pai

Thankfully the program is free,
and it does come with some content.

The rest of content you have to buy.
I buy the stuff I need when it's on sale.

If I have a moment I could render a few characters,
NPC's if the DM wants a render of one of two of them.
Like Svetlana and Oleg from Kingmaker

If yes, make sure the character has a worded description, or reference image with notes.

Please note I won't be able to post much until Sunday night.
