Ezebelle Thesun |
"Had to be magic, or ghosts, or something weird..." Ezebelle cries totally at a loss when it comes to magic.
"Well maybe it just needs some more force. I wonder if my axe will have a better time of going through the door..." Ezebelle contemplates reaching for the large axe on her back.
DM Wren |
The door continues to shutter. The noise is distracting and together with the sound of the jars, it creates the sound like a giant cacophonous wind chime. The store woman calls out "Luthkooo!"
Ezra Savet |
Ezra scratches her head, clearly confused. "Might be ghost," Ezra shrugs, and casts 'cure light wounds' at the emanation.
I can't help but think: “I’m attacking the darkness!”
Ezebelle Thesun |
Not needing to be told twice, a mischievous grin come to her face as she swings haphazardly at the door.
ATTACK!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Really dice really?!? this is the time I roll a natural 1... sigh.
DM Wren |
Ezra's spell illuminates the door in an angelic glow and the door slows its stuttering and comes to rest, but only for a moment. Thereby it begins banging and shaking again at it's previous rate.
Ezebelle's Axe glances off of the door and cleaves the row of jars, spraying ceramic bits about the room with a crash. The door continues shuttering in place.
DM Wren |
You can target the door if you like. There is no target-able being besides what you can see.
Cassiel Hawke |
After seeing Ezebelle's axe go wide and shatter several jars, Cassiel winces.
"Ezebelle, let me try." He runs up and rams the door with his shoulder.
Strength: Bash Door Open!: 1d20 ⇒ 15
DM Wren |
Cassiel slams against the door with a thud, but it remains closed. A muffled voice can be heard from the other side, but the individual words cannot be made out over the noise of the shuttering door.
Ezebelle Thesun |
"Blasted magic. Ruins everything. Are you sure there is no other way in? Perhaps a chimney or window that we could get through?" Ezebelle asks in desperation.
Out of curiousity...What is the wall that the door is in made out of?
DM Wren |
"T-there is a window on the back side of the house. It's high off the ground, but large enough for someone to fit through." The woman says, shuddering with worry.
The wall is made out of finished, stacked logs. They are likely thicker than the door itself.
Ezebelle Thesun |
"Cassiel come. You get to be an acrobat!" Ezebelle laughs, turning and heading for the back of the house.
She sets up under the window ready to hoist Cassiel up to the window.
you know Ezra probably would have been easier to lift stupid.
Ezebelle shakes her head and chuckles under her breath.
Cassiel Hawke |
Cassiel winces and rubs his shoulder after hitting the door.
"Right behind you." He follows Ezebelle to the wall under the window in question.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
With Ezebelle acting as an impromptu ladder, Cassiel makes it to the window and tries to open it.
DM Wren |
With Ezebelle's help, Cassiel reaches the window easily, but it's locked. Inside you can see a middle aged man sitting on a kitchen chair, looking dejectedly at the floor. He notices you pulling at the window and stands and walks over to it. He's got large, tired eyes but a light hearted slight grin on his face. His hair is greying and disheveled. He opens a latch on the locked window and opens it.
"I presume you're the lot trying to help my wife and I get this door open. Strangest thing, isn't it?" He says and looks worriedly over at the door, which you can see is still shuddering in place. Cooking pans on a wall rack next to the door are twisting and slapping against the wall.
DM Wren |
The man, Luthko presumably, takes Cassiel's hand and climbs out of the window.
"Thank you, friend. I suppose she is a bit overly worried, but I am concerned about what is happening inside my house. I was never one for believing in ghosts and spirits, but that nearly scared me senseless."
Cassiel Hawke |
Cassiel helps Luthko down.
"No problem, sir. Your wife's waiting for you in the storefront."
He nods at Ezra. "We should see what the problem is inside. You mentioned magic at work here, after all."
With that, he climbs in through the window to investigate the room beyond.
DM Wren |
Luthko walks quickly around to the front door.
Inside the window, the kitchen is adorned normally - pots and pans hanging from hooks on the walls. A large iron fireplace on the far wall burns steadily. A table contains scraps of vegetables and slices of animal fat. Four chairs sit around the table. The door to the front room continues to shutter and bang irregularly. There are no apparent signs from this side, either.
Cassiel Hawke |
Cassiel takes a look around the room, looking for something else that could be making the door go mad.
Perhaps there's something in here that's futzing with the door...
Taking 10 to Perception: 10 + 7 +1 (Guidance) = 18
Ezebelle Thesun |
Nothing really to add at this time
Ezebelle waits below the window, stamping her feet in impatience.
"Anything exciting going on in there?" She yells at Cassiel.
DM Wren |
There appears to be nothing material causing the door to move, nor is there a strong enough wind or gusts of air.
Cassiel Hawke |
Cassiel is well and truly puzzled.
"Aside from the door being difficult? Not really. No wind or anything material is making this door move..."
He does remember that Ezra's healing magic settled the door down somewhat. With that, he heads back to the window and leans out.
"Ezra! Try healing the door again; it caused it to settle down, didn't it?"
Edwyn Varro |
Edwyn stands by in contemplative silence, a hand resting on his chin. He furrows his brow, confused by their predicament. The wizard had been entertaining a theory for a while now,
"There is d-definitely magic at work here, but we c-cannot see who is using it..." he starts, running a hand through his mousy brown hair, "C-could it be a ghost? Or a p-poltergeist of some sort?"
