Bethune |
Now that Bethune sees the Dwarf has subsided into non-threatening behavior, He closes the distance and joins the forward scouts.
"Mongrel men?" He mutters, looking for some sort of reference to the term in his "memories"
Sarasanna |
Com: Archie. The situation appears resolved. The dwarf is not hostile for now. He has pointed the way forward and notified us of the existence of Mongrelmen. However, he appears mentally unstable. I advise that when everyone passes by him, they do not speak to him and go by him as quietly as possible.
Sarasanna |
Sarasanna, fulfilling her function as ranger and ever-curious wilderness scout, shall go forth to look at the tunnel, approaching with caution and stealth of course.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Akkramar |
As Sarasanna scouts the tunnel entrance, Akkramar stands protectively between her and the dwarf.

[dice=Perception] 1d20 + 10
[dice=Stealth] 1d20 + 9
The dwarf was not joking about the tunnel; it is rather steep. However, you can see that there are a number of branches, pitons, and other implements setup in such a way that you could use it like a ladder. It is roughly 60' up to the next plateau.
Considering that you have one person who is blind, another who has a bad leg, and several who are likely a little fatigued, Climb DC's will vary per person.
Akkramar |
Ok, so if I am not mistaken, we had Align Weapon, Levitate and Alter Self? Is this correct LM?
Akkramar |
I think Akkramar would stay with the one he grabbed in the first place, which was Align Weapon I believe. I was merely asking because the one for Levitation might prove helpful here - in any case, let us keep this moving. I want to play this game :D
"Sarasanna, I believe you are our best climber" - Akkramar offers - "If you would take the lead, and drop down a rope, I could also climb up, and assist in elevating those that may have more difficulties in ascending" - he suggests - "I have one length of rope to offer i such task"
Akkramar |
Returning from lunch - I will throw a climb roll in a few if Sarasanna does not pop up ;)
Bethune |
"I'll go with you." Bethune offers, taking his own rope from his pack and slinging it over his shoulder as he approached the hill. Taking a few seconds, his eyes darted around the various natural and crazy-dwarf-made handholds and he began to see the ladder pattern.
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Akkramar |
"Let us do this then" - Akkramar watches Bethune for a few moments, then decides to try and follow him.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 2 = 18
Lord Manticore |
OK The two of you easily make it to the top, using the homemade ladder as your guide. You do realize that some of those 'rungs' are loose and could cause problems for those who are less capable of climbing. Did either of you bring a rope, by chance?
Lord Manticore |
Sorry guys, busy week! You got it covered, or shall I still attempt a climb?
Comm: Bethune. I following behind, unless my presence be required by the organics.
[dice=Climb] 1d20 + 8
Not a problem. Go ahead and look at the spoiler tag and let me know if you any info to catch up on.
Lord Manticore |
The Climb DC for Anevia will be 15, due to her less than 'bendy flexy' leg. For Aravashinal, unassisted it's going to be a 25. If he tries to climb the 'ladder' and gets some help, it will be down to a 19. If he gets help with the rope, then it falls to 12. Finally, if you just wrap a rope around him and pull him up, then the check will be automatic. Horgus rolls a 10 just like you guys.
Let em know how you plan to assist before I make their rolls.
Lucifer Graves |
Lucifer looks at the cliff face and his allies, then pulls the rope out of his pack. "Here, use this." He tosses it up to the others for them to tie off. "I suggest we tie this around the blind one to avoid making him climb. We may also want to lift the wounded woman."
Bethune |
"Anevia you're injured. Don't force it." Bethune calls down almost with the tone of a scolding mother.
He ties off the rope that Lucifer tosses up and gives the nod to Lucifer. " Send up Horgus first, then we'll tie off Anevia and Aravashinal respectively"
Sarasanna |
Sarasanna looks at the others. "Perhaps one of us should go down to assist? I estimate my climbing ability is more than adequate to go back down and to assist her on the climb up again as well." She asks the question with a tone of efficiency. With no concern for the individuals' dignity, Sarasanna has the intention of solving the problem at hand.
Akkramar |
Guys, I gotta talk about the scales again - isn't there one that offers levitation around there somewhere?
"Do that Sarasanna - I will stay up here making sure those that are tied do not fall down, and assisting in pulling them up" - Akkramar offers.
Lord Manticore |
I know that we've all been busy with work this week, and my new projects are taking more time than I had originally thought. That being said, I am also anxious to move things forward here, so if everyone is okay, I can fast forward us to about the next encounter. Sound good, or do you want to wrap this up first?
Akkramar |
I say wrap this up, since any encounter will also only move if people are around to post, right? :D
Sarasanna |
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Climb to aid Anevia: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Here's my step to resolve the current situation! ^^ I'm here, and hope to be here more and more as the storm clears, so to speak. :/
Sarasanna guides herself uneasily down the rope, doing a better job at helping Anevia up than taking herself back down.
To climb back up...: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 2 = 18
I'm guessing while helping another person, Sarasanna is a little encumbered. ^^
Lucifer Graves |
Lucifer continues to just stand at the bottom of the cliff, helping the others as needed.
Taking 10 on Climb checks to aid another, so that's a +2 bonus for everybody climbing as needed.
Sarasanna |
Should Sarasanna succeed in getting Anevia to the top, she returns to guide Aravashnial up and then again to push Horgus to the top.
Taking ten for the next ones if possible, which would be 18 on the way down each time, and 16 on the way up plus all the aid another checks. So that would be 22 on the way down, and 20 on the way up if I'm not mistaken.
Lord Manticore |
Eventually, everyone is either pulled or has climbed to the top. So far, all that can be made out is more tunnel; for those without darkvision, there is nothing to see at all. Soon enough, it is decided to move forward as a party.
After about half an hour, you find that the tunnel expands up ahead. It looks like the tunnel leads to a large, dome-like cavern, larger than any that you have found yet. Even from here, you can tell that there are numerous cracks along the walls. You can just make out a structure, near the middle of the cavern. It appears to have fallen on its side. You can also make out a couple of light sources, moving around the structure.
Lord Manticore |
Dakkar quietly creeps forward, trying to get a better view of what has the lights moving.
comm:I see some lights moving about, stay back and keep quiet if you ere not loaded with a stealth program.
[dice=stealth]1d20+21
How close do you plan to get?
Akkramar |
Akkramar follows Dakkar in silence.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Or almost in silence...
Lord Manticore |
weird, I didn't see a new post notice until I checked the discussion page.
I'll see what I can see from just inside the tunnel, then at the tunnel entrance. Once I see more of the cavern beyond the tunnel I'll decide from there.
Akkramar |
"We need to move further" - Akkramar comments to Dakkar - "It is the only way to understand what exactly we are up against" - then waits for his companion, moving forward when Dakkar does so, inching along the cave's outer wall.
Another Stealth?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Oh my...
Lord Manticore |
Talk about having a bad day...
Perception (listening): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Akkramar |
Comm: We still need information. - Akkramar retorts, freezing in place.
