Loup Blanc coming in, just got the PM. Thanks for having me aboard, Lord Manticore! I look forward to seeing how this character does. I'll update the relevant stats into the profile's top.

Ditto LM - thanks a lot for taking me on board for this one. I'm sure we are in for a ride.
Well met Lucifer, I am also curious to see how the Corbie pans out - I have heard about the class from someone who appreciates a lot the work of Tripod Machine.
Also wanted to ask you LM - what are your feelings regarding the dual Mythic Path? Yes? No? If I am going to play a 'gish' I need to start wondering where I'll head with him (if he survives), and this doubt actually came up when I was chosing my campaign trait.
Last question - as I said, my character can be 'tailored' to play ranged or melee. Would it be somehow acceptable to adapt this as the group comes together, or we go 'as is' and that's that? Maybe you already selected the team with all those considerations in mind? ;)
Lord Manticore |
@Akkramar: I am fine with dual pathing, per se, although I'm concerned about the balancing issues. I've read several player and DM reviews, and the balancing act from about Book 4 on has me a little worried. I have some tricks that can mitigate that, but it will get pretty hairy by the last book. I'm playing it by ear for now; it will be a good year or so before we start getting into the latter half of the AP.
As for for choosing melee or ranged, I say to just adapt as you go. I did not pick any super front line tanks because the context is that you were supposed to infiltrate into support positions, to maximize your chances of surviving the mission. No one realizes that it's your fate to become the lynchpins of the Last Crusade! That's part of the reason why I setup the advanced android template; to give everyone options on planning their characters for the long haul.
Akkramar |
Yeah, I've heard quite some talk around the boards though I never really wanted to spoiler it for me. I have seen gestalt offered as an alternative to Mythic characters.
Lynchpins of the Last Crusade - now there's a title!
Bethune |
redbeard checking in, thanks for having me.
I'm excited to see how the medic goes.
See Bethune for all your first aid related needs!
So we have a Corbie, a Medic, and a Ranger(Trapper), who's our fourth?

Well... I'm ranger but probably just for one level - then it is Wizard for a while ;)
Lord Manticore |
I'm also expecting a spell-less ranger to show up as well, Bethune.
I'm going to start posting additional info onto the Campaign Info tab: I'll repost the 'advanced' android template, a couple of house rules, and a little prologue content (under a spoiler tag).
Also, given the background theme of this campaign, and that the Numeria books will be coming out soonish, I have decided to make one small change. Anticipating that there will be a section on 'implants,' each of your characters will start off with 1 implant. I ask that you guys add this to your character sheet under the following:
Greyfang communicator - This implant (beta) allows communications between two or more individuals who have this device implanted. This effect works like the spell telepathy, with a range of 1000'. This device cannot pick up thoughts, nor 'hear' those who actually use telepathy. Drawback: Any spell or ability that affects hearing will short out the device, as it is implanted at the end of the user's ear canal.
I'll let everyone know when the tab has been updated.
Akkramar |
Checked out the info - really cool formatting and feel :D
Greyfang communicator will be awesome for our scout to get back to us ;)
Sarasanna |
Suthuri, checking in. Deploying Vengeance 'Droid Sarasanna, character updated. ^_^
Thanks again, LM, for picking me. ^_^ I look forward to seeing how this spell-less ranger develops. Sarasanna shall remain ranger for the foreseeable future.
I also look forward to seeing how the group works together. We have some interesting 'droids being sent out for action. ~_^
A few changes to gear: I opted for the halberd over the longspear, for the sake of damage type versatility, more trip, and flavor. I switched the chain shirt for studded leather, so I could still afford a longbow and all cold iron weapons.

While on a pc, rolling in the discussion thread is okay.
But when I am posting from a tablet or phone, it gets really cumbersome.

I understand completely. My 'second' computer here in my office is an iPad mini, and an attached Logitech bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard makes it a little easier, but the iPad, as much as I like it for business use, leaves a bit to be desired in the mapping/rpg department.
I'll post the responses to your skill checks in the gameplay thread, under spoiler tags.

I'm using this website to generate my messed up text, which I'll continue to use for Lucifer's "android voice" in the game. Also, any word on whether Gadalong the Mule made the fall?
Thanks for the link, it's a really cool effect and that makes it easy.
Bethune |
by the way, sorry for short notice, but I'll be at at a music festival camping from tomorrow afternoon till Sunday afternoon. I will most likely not be able to make any posts, but I'll make a swift recovery sunday night and have something up in response to what I've missed.
Thanks, sorry again to spring it on you only a day in advance.
Lord Manticore |
Thanks for the link, guys. Unfortunately when I try to paste the link of the text here, my tablet reloads the page instead of pasting.
As for the short notice, don't sweat it. If something comes up, I'll DMPC your character until you get back. Have fun at the festival.

Just getting back and catching up on what I missed, I'll process all of that and get a post up tonight or in the morning.
Hope everyone's had a wonderful weekend!

Oh god, it's been terrible!! Mexico lost, Lollapallooza was cancelled, and you offered to volunteer to take on the terrasque in the next room.
Other than that, how was your weekend?

Twas weird, wild and wonderful. Everything I expected, haha.
I'm a bit tired however, but recovery will come sooner than later.

Not a problem I was going to actually give everyone a heads up: I found out from my boss last night that I'm being sent up to Tulsa on Thursday to meet with one of our directors on business. I won't have internet for pretty much the entire day, and I'll be flying back on Friday (which means I'll likely be home on Sunday, LOL). Given that, I think this is going to be a pretty short week for gaming. If you guys can post, especially from Friday on, go ahead, but I didn't want people to think that the game was closed, just being patriotic!

Honestly, I live near Amish country, and you'd be amazed at what they have/do sometimes. The rules are strict... and strictly bypassed, from what I understand.
The main surprising thing is the frequency with which you see them at Walmart.
Lucifer Graves |
Special spots? Not as far as I know. They just park them in normal parking spots, usually. Or somewhere off the road in the shade.
Of course, a number of them get there in cars owned by others, and I've seen a couple talking on cell phones to call their rides home. Like Dakkar says, they can't own modern technology, but it seems plenty of them can sure as hell use it. It's weird.
Lord Manticore |
It's similar for Orthodox Jews. On the Shabbat (from sundown to sundown on Friday thru Saturday), they are not supposed to touch any type of modern tech, i.e. light switches, cars, etc. So what a lot of them do is they'll actually hire someone or ask a non-Jewish friend to do that stuff for them. There's nothing in the Torah that says you can't have someone else do the heavy lifting...

I didn't know that there was a group even stricter than the Amnish about technology. O.O
Though considering the traditionalism of Hasidic communities, I guess it makes sense - in its own way.the rolls aren't being too kind to ol Bethune
The trick is burn the bad rolls on stealth vs. rocks, and save the good rolls for stuff with demons!
~_^And I totally crited a climb! ^_^

Apologies for the delay people - last couple of days have been really busy with job hunting.
On a side note, I will be travelling tomorrow with the family, and until about midday Tuesday - internet access will be limited to phone, so posting will probably be irregular.
But I will still post today ;)
Lucifer Graves |
One thing I'll say, LM, is that you may want to "tone down" how scrambled it gets. I've been doing a straight through the middle, minimum scramble setting on my posts; it looks like you've got the scramble going down as well, and possibly on normal amount. Altering the settings can make it easier to read.
