One of the things you can do to something that's pinned is restrain them (usually done with rope or manacles. The bag was supposed to be an analogue to that. I suppose we could bind them with rope first (because it is mechanically viable), but the entire idea of tying up a snake with rope is rather silly.

In the real world the reason why a 22 foot python (mechanical strength somewhere around 30) can be easily transported in a bed sheet is because snakes are completely unable to exercise any sort of leverage against the bag. These are metal constructs, so it's different, but I can't imagine they're stronger or smarter than a real giant snake.

I'm not saying it's not a good idea. But you said it yourself, do make-believe snake-like constructs act or think like real-life snakes?

Xzaral said he thinks its' a fun idea... we generally seem to agree... so let's just give it a try. :)

Worst thing that could happen is that it fails and we have regular combat. well, that and Teon eats an AoO or two. :D

Percep +4. Init +8 -- Hp 50/50. AC 18, t12, ff16. Fort+4, Ref+4, Will+6

Okay, sounds good. Shulme will await the results of this attempt (taking no action in the meantime).

Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)

I would rather eat another candy bar. But where da snakes at.

King of Talingarde

If everyone is okay with the plan, I will need the following rolls.

Cain - CMB to shut the door after one snake comes through.

Teon - CMB to grapple the snake.

Grumblejack - CMB to pin the snake

Remember to take into account Bless.

Don't I need to wait until its actually my turn? The plan didn't come up until after I had used my surprise round to shoot at the first snake... which means I have to wait to make that action until after the snakes on the 1st round, doesn't it?

King of Talingarde

Good point. Yea, it'll come after their turn. So I have Price and Your surprise actions, I will need Xanos, Teons and Shulmes, as well as Shulme's round 1 action.

Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)

I am good to grapple.

HP 49/37, AC 18, CMD 15, Fort +0, Ref +1, Will +5 Per +4 Channel 9/9, Grave Touch 8/8, Shirt 1/1, Vestments 1/1, Slippers 10/10 Current effects: Detect Magic, False Life, Mage Armor, Message, Spider Climb, Shield

Xanos will shut the door after Cain fires. (recon the action to happen while he spoke)

that way we can prepare with less pressure.

Shulme, do you have Bull Strength prepared?

Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)

Shulme is spontaneous.

Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7

I'm good with trying this plan. It should be amusing if nothing else. :)

The real point of concern is opening up Teon to AoO Paralysis bites. If he gets frozen, we've lost one of our front-liners.

Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)

Hoping that it only lasts a few rounds. I have a 21 AC right now with mage armor up. If someone wants to aid another my AC, that can't hurt.

As noted above, no actions for round 1 (or surprise round). As constructs they are immune to my ranged offensive spell (cause fear) and there is too much bigass ogre flesh in the way for me to reach them with the spear. I do have a light crossbow, but trying to hit through a bunch of people standing in the way and DR 5/- seems like just a waste of bolts.

Unless someone has an action to suggest...?

King of Talingarde

Well my suggestion, in character of course, would be to repent your wicked ways, set upon the path of goodness, and start smiting some evil. But hey, what do I know?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll move forward with everything when I get home. Too chaotic for me to focus here at present.
Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)
I think we should consider king mark's suggestion and go good. All in favor.
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
Every villain is a protagonist in their own head. Price is already fighting for the just cause. :)
Okay! I'll follow your lead on that. Just as soon as you turn your back to face off with some smiteworthy evil, I'll be right behind you, I promise.
Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)
I completely agree that a good villain considers them self the hero.
HP 49/37, AC 18, CMD 15, Fort +0, Ref +1, Will +5 Per +4 Channel 9/9, Grave Touch 8/8, Shirt 1/1, Vestments 1/1, Slippers 10/10 Current effects: Detect Magic, False Life, Mage Armor, Message, Spider Climb, Shield
Xanos doesn't think he's a hero. To the contrary, he doesn't believe in heroes, or even villains really. Just people, all of whom are varying degrees of trapped and deluded.
When you can see the cosmic ant farm and are able to see that everyone is just warring over who controls the tunnels, labels like good and evil start to lose their meaning.
Not that the other ants care much about what the crazy ant who can see his reflection in the glass thinks.
King of Talingarde
Just giving you a heads-up that at the end of this month (July 31), I'll be leaving town for two weeks for work. I don't know the status of an available internet connection while I'll be gone, or how much free time I'll have, but I'll post as able.
After that, I'll only be back for a day before heading to Gencon afterwards, getting back home late the 19th. So between those two dates I'll be sporadic at best, possibly unavailable. Sorry for any inconveniences this may impose.
DM
No worries. I hope the Con is good!
King of Talingarde
Thanks! This'll be my, let's see here, 9th Gencon I think? It's a great time, a bunch of my friends and I go. We had to skip one year for it though.
Also I didn't get the job in Texas, but that's where I'll be for those two weeks helping with the center opening. I had a good talk with our HR department about what I needed, and a little more exposure is on that list of things. So I might end up doing a few of these trips (anywhere from 2-5 weeks in duration) in the upcoming months.
I think I'll need to invest in a laptop again.
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
Yeesh! Sorry about the job news.
King of Talingarde
Meh, was a little upset at first about it. The reasoning was that I didn't have quite enough experience yet (despite doing the job in the absence of my boss for something like year to year and a half, as well as having a less than effective boss, who was terminated, for a year as well). But as the conversation continued, I could tell it was one of those they had already given it to someone else, and just didn't want to go through the motions of the required three interviews.
So I listened to them for awhile and am planning out for the next one. Well the one after the next one (after Waco it's Vegas, and then another in Texas).
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
Ah, yeah. Having been on the other side of that - where I went through the interview process for an in-company transfer job only to find out that the hiring manager already had a friend in mind for the job and my interviews were to meet the 'legal requirements' - I can say I was pissed that they wasted my time. If they had a favorite in mind, hire them. Don't make me jump through hoops.
Percep +4. Init +8 -- Hp 50/50. AC 18, t12, ff16. Fort+4, Ref+4, Will+6
Just in case anyone is waiting on me, Shulme will continue delaying indefinitely until I say otherwise, since I cannot reach the front lines from here.
Sorry everyone. Work turned into a s%&*storm. I don't anticipate being able to put any mental energy into a post today… maybe not tomorrow.
So sorry. I'll try to get back on-board as quickly as possible.
King of Talingarde
There is a surprise incoming.
Surprise:
Sorry, no spoilers! It's a secret after all ;p
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
Will our surprise involve 'enbagulation'? I'm loving that term.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
If we the throw the bag out the window, it will involve enbagulated defenestration.
King of Talingarde
So how do you like the surprise?
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
WOOT! I'm delighted!
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
Who are we waiting for.
Class: AC: 16|12|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3 | Wil:+9 - Per:+15 Init:+7
I think maybe Cain will be pulling open the door and trying to shut it on another snake followed by Teon doing the grab. Cain's player is hip deep in some emergency work project right now.
King of Talingarde
Teon, if you want to make two CMB rolls, I'll roll Cain's up for the door and the aid another, and get it resolved as I can. Unless Cain shows up first to do his.
The slight woman covers her face as as she quietly sobs for a moment. A sniffle is muffled by her hand wiping away the tears as she finishes crying.
"I guess I'll take this to remember all the good times we had."
She pulls an oddly familiar belt from behind her back. Poor Fargo has just enough time to recognize it before things get drafty and everyone knows the color and kind of underwear the summoner wears. Gwyn just smiles back
All in good fun, all in good fun.
Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)
I believe reaching inside my Eidelon to steal my underpants requires a roll. Do not forget the negative because I am currently in the guises of an elderly human, who goes regimental under his wizards robes.
I think it's written into the summoner crunch that GWyn's character specifically ignores all of Teon's defenses... it's somewhere near the back. :)
Okay, im' caughtup in th thread, but am a little unsure of how to continue. With two snakes bagged, does Cain need to do anything to begin the third attempt?
Also, welcome back, GWYN!
Aw, thank you. I'm glad you're back too! Here, have a souvenir.
It's cookie, but it'll do.
King of Talingarde
The only thing left for Cain for the third is to open the door, and possibly assist Teon on his Grapple checks. Or try to kill the snake ;p
Also I'm waiting for a response from Teon from my PM before I go much further.
EDIT: Not PM, spoiler. DOH!
Hey guys, sorry for the absence today. Work has been ridiculous.
BTW, Mark, I'm a real fan of the Enbagulation note on the map. Nice touch.
King of Talingarde
When you find a good joke, you take it, run with it, hammer it into everyone's heads, make them remember it, know it, love it, embrace it, tire of it, then you build the hate. That way I eventually stop using it, only to bring it up as a memory, because you'll always remember the hate!
Or it'll just become annoying >8 )
Teon, waiting on you in Gameplay, just a heads up.
Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99
I'm back. Trip took longer than I thought it would due to a really bad wreck on US 80. Two west-bound cars lost control and swerved onto the east-bound lane. It looks like both vehicles rolled and one of them was rally bad and it's likely that the driver in that one died. An officer came and told us that they were trying to get traffic flowing again and that this was the worst accident he had seen in a long time. When my mother asked him if anyone had died, he said, "We are still trying to determine that."
The scary thing is that could have been my mother, my sister, and I if we had been two or three minutes quicker on the road to see some family in Georgia. Please keep the families of those involved in your prayers. If you don't believe in God, then just keep them in your thoughts. Death is not an easy thing to deal with. It doesn't get any easier the more you experience. I know there are people in Denver morning right now, and I will keep them in my prayers as well, but I thought that you should know that I am okay and that my family and I are safe.
