King Markadian V |
Beatrix manages to pull the horn from Glim's hand while Alazandaru gives him a good strike to his side, though the other one doesn't penetrate his chainmail. Glim screams out at the top of his lungs, "The prisoners are escaping, To Arms, To Arms!!" while throwing up his shield and trying to back out to the cell door.
Glim takes total defense and trys to move around back to the cell door. Alazandaru can make an AoO against him.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Alazandaru Viorec |
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Alazandaru's dagger lunges for Glim just below the neck, where he was aiming; unfortunately missing his mark by a few inches, he merely catches the chain mail. He curses softly in Common.
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
As the guard screams and runs, Morthos gives an exasperated sigh. "Perfect. Now we have to deal with more of these fools." Unconcerned, he moves in position in hopes to prevent the guard from escaping.
Double move to CI 73 or CH 74. As far as a double move will take me and to where I'm not standing in the same place as the guard. And as close as I can get without taking an AOO.
Avrandes Ghael |
Avrandes clings to the iron bars and searches the rooms beyond for the rush of more guards. Without looking back, he hales Morthos, making no effort to hide the annoyance in his voice. This is why a few minutes to plan would have been better. Now instead of escaping beneath notice, we may have to push past every soldier here. When a pirate boards a ship before the ships collide, he drowns.
Avrandes delays, waiting for more guards to appear in the cells and hallways beyond. Can we get clarity on how many prisoners are in neighboring cells?
King Markadian V |
There are no other prisoners in the cell block at present besides the 6 of you. The guard has not yet drawn a weapon, choosing instead to focus on total defense with his shield while screaming for help, so he can't AoO yet.
Updated Initiative for Round 2:
- Beatrix
- Haruk
- Alazandaru
- Guards
- Bostarg
- Avrandes - Delaying
- Morthos
Alazandaru Viorec |
Alazandaru moves to CH72 (assuming hes still standing on his init count), attempting to hook a leg behind the guards and trip him to the floor.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Trip (shouldn't provoke AOO as he used total defence)
King Markadian V |
You should be able to move people around on this one. Please only move your own around. Also since the guard is prone, that's another -4 for ranged attacks. Definitely a hit, but not a crit.
Haruk strikes the guard with an icy ray, but the durable dwarf still yet stands. Beatrix tries to engage him, but he is tenacious and manages to fend her off. Shield above him like a protective cover, he calls out, "Leave me be, I won't tell a soul!" He has stopped his yelling for aid, though he is still calling out loudly.
I'll take actions by post order since everyone goes before the guard again.
EXPLODING RUNES!!: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Bostarg Halvardonwine |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Calling over his shoulder as he continues walking towards the guard room "I'll leave his fate to your proclivities... but it sounds to me as though he is merely pleading for time and the arrival of his fellows at arms."
Double move to N,26 - the google doc isn't letting me move the pog as it is set to 'view only'?
If the door is open, then I'll take a look at whatever's visible... and cast an ear for any further visitors...
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Edit: Updated settings are a go. I was able to move my pog :)
King Markadian V |
Found the setting, should be able to edit it now.
Alazandaru Viorec |
Alazandaru's first dagger swing misjudges the guard's flailing movements and completely misses him, but his left hand dagger strikes true...
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 (Flanking, attacking prone, twf)
1d4 + 5 + 1d8 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (2) = 8
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 (Flanking, attacking prone, twf)
1d4 + 3 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (8) = 14
Wrong place, wrong time... he says softly, almost sympathetically to the Dwarf.
Bostarg Halvardonwine |
Assumption taken that Alazandaru's 14 damage is enough to end the blighter.
Bostarg continues to walk toward and into the guard-room, idly checking the hands of cards on the table to see who the victor was. He then maneuvers a chair to the wall and climbs upon it so that he might reach the key ring. Bostarg then moves back towards the others setting the keys to spinning on one finger idly as he passes on "No sounds from below, so we may be lucky yet..."
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
Avrandes clings to the iron bars and searches the rooms beyond for the rush of more guards. Without looking back, he hales Morthos, making no effort to hide the annoyance in his voice. This is why a few minutes to plan would have been better. Now instead of escaping beneath notice, we may have to push past every soldier here. When a pirate boards a ship before the ships collide, he drowns.
Morthos grins, "Not unless he knows how to swim." He responds. Turning to the guard who is bleeding out, "And it appears Alazandaru has the matter well in hand, wouldn't you agree?" He asks Avrandes.
Will wait and see if the guard survived Alazandaru's attack. If not...
Morthos turns to Bostarg, "Good. Then let us be gone from here. After..." Morthos then looks to grab one of the weapons off of the guards. "There. This should suffice. Pathetic, but it will serve it's purpose. Let's move."
Will take one of the weapons the guard has. Of course, if he's still alive then...
Manacles: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 4 = 7
King Markadian V |
Alazandaru's dagger sinks into the dwarf, dealing a fatal wound. As his blood spills out onto the floor, he gives him a cold stare. "Iomedae...Damn you..." And with that, the dwarf slips into unconsciousness.

Alazandaru Viorec |
Alazandaru helps himself to one of the chain shirts, slipping it on after giving it a quick clean on Wendell's clothes. Despite his clear lethalness with his blades, he looks a little upset at the lives he took.
He takes one of the coin purses and fills it with the gold of the fallen, arresting any protests or concerns with the sincere words-
I am not trying to steal from my new allies. I'll keep it safe until we're free of here; if you don't trust that I am a man of my word, propose another of us to act as a treasurer.
He then politely steps back to allow everyone else their fill of equipment, although he makes it clear hes prepared to carry anything for anyone physically lacking in strength to carry what they want to take.
Profile updated and coins added to "Group Loot" spoiler on my profile.
When the group is ready to move on, he'll stay near the front, daggers in hand rather than concealed.
Bostarg Halvardonwine |
Bostarg retrieves a cudgel from one of the guards and leaves all other equipment to his newly freed companions. Nodding assent to Alazandaru's suggestion of gold keeper the gnome adds "It does not sound as though his cries for aid were heard below... so we may have a window with which to prepare."
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
"Perfect." Morthos responds to both Alazandaru and Bostarg. Morthos will then strip the other guard of his armor and grab his shield as well--to go along with the weapon he has already taken.
Alazandaru Viorec |
Actually... We should be reasonably cautious. Doesn't sound like the place is on alert, we should have some time. Did you know more thieves are caught trying to make a hasty getaway after a successful theft, than the number caught trying to get to the item in the first place? All too often, they lose their heads and their caution once the prize is theirs. I don't believe I caught your name ma'am?
Alazandaru will take 10 on perception to listen at each door once we get moving.
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
Morthos moves near the front; leaving enough space for Alazandaru to be able to scout more effectively.
Will remain about 15' or 20' back of Alazandaru. Twenty might be best. No since in being overheard before necessary.
I'm with Bostarg's plan.
Avrandes Ghael |
Also casting mage armor.
Avrandes nods approval to the strong man with the daggers. Agreed. We can die cursing them defiantly, or... here he looks at Haruk, they can die after their families learn of their hidden sins and they confess they should have treated their prisoners with more compassion.
The former pirate notices the quiet stance of the rogue and holds out a palm for silence.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
Morthos turns and looks in the direction of the voice. "Oh bother. That is all we need." Moving to the door, "It would be wise to keep your voice down. Who are you? More precisely, what are you? You do not sound human. But I could be mistaken. Nevertheless, go on." He waits for Grumblejack to respond.
Alazandaru Viorec |
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Spellcraft VS DC16
While scouting to save time and keep the pace of the game up, Alazandaru will just take 10 on perception and stealth. Skill modifiers have been updated to reflect chain shirt ACP.
Alazandaru watches Morthos deal with the situation, not particularly wanted to get involved talking to yet another prisoner.
Grumblejack |
Peering through the bars on the very large door to the chamber, you see beyond an ogre, chained as you were. He responds to you in turn, his voice lower. "Grumblejack I am. Grumblejack is hungry, smells blood. Grumblejack heard battle, you don't look like little 'uns who put Grumblejack in here. Grumblejack think you hurt little 'uns, maybe give Grumblejack bodies?"
Alazandaru Viorec |
1d20 ⇒ 5 Sense Motive
1d20 ⇒ 8 Heal
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Perception
Shelyn's tits... Alazandaru mutters as he sees the monstrous Ogre before him, glancing apologetically to Beatrix as though worried his language would offend her.
Bostarg Halvardonwine |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Bostarg regards the ogre with a curious eye and moves a little closer, making no attempt to hide the keyring that he still holds. "My you are a big one aren't you..."
Haruk |
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Perception
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Knowledge(Arcana)
Haruk smiles upon seeing the horns atop Grumblejack's head, and knows he has found a kindred spirit. "Asmodeus be praised, it looks like he has blessed us with a potential mighty ally."He says quietly to his fellow escapees. To the fiendish ogre he says "Grumblejack, we not hurt you. We not lock you up. You want bodies? Help us leave, you get plenty of bodies"
Grumblejack |
Grumblejack's eyes narrow at Haruk's words. "Grumblejack don't know As-mo-dus. You little 'uns help Grumblejack leave, Grumblejack help little 'uns leave too. Grumblejack can't break chains, other little 'uns feed Grumblejack bad food, make Grumblejack weak."
Morthos "the Malevolent" |

Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Sense Motive: #2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Morthos steps away, turning to the others, and with a strange look at Haruk with the way he's speaking. "As far as I'm concerned, any enemy of the pathetic king, should be free to stand for his rights." Stepping back to the door, "We shall release you, Grumblejack. One moment." He then steps aside for Haruk to enter and free the beast.
