Haruk's icy ray strikes the Warden, though it is still not enough to drop the spellcaster.
Turning to face this new threat, the Warden calls out, "You have brought this upon yourselves!" Uttering an incantation, he calls forth a piece of elemental fire, a sphere of molten flame. The sphere springs into existence next to Alazandaru, rolling at him, guided by the Warden.
Alazandaru, a Flaming Sphere comes at you, 11 damage (Reflex DC17 to negate). Morthos is up.

Alazandaru leapt aside from the deadly ball of flame as his boots were singed by the evocation- he didn't recognise this particular spell but its deadly nature was obvious. He dropped his second dagger and moved quickly to reach the Warden- he pulled the heavy mace he carried free from his belt as he moved and struck the man with it in both hands with a mighty overhand swing.

Morthos slams against the doorway, but it doesn't give under his assault.
Blackerly and the Guard Dogs need to go after Morthos, I'll do them quick first.
Blackerly and the two dogs begin to move up the stairs to aid the Warden. Double Move on all of them.
Alazandaru, you can't pull as you move unless you have a +1 Base Attack Bonus. So you can move and draw, but not quite attack this round. If you want to retcon and keep your rolls, feel free.
Beatrix, feel free to move you on the map where you want to go.
Bostarg and Haruk are up.
Alazandaru Viorec |
Bah, I hate BAB +0. Roll on level 2! Good catch GM. Definitely wanted to attack this turn so minor retcon...
Alazandaru moved up to the Warden and stabbed at his chest with his remaining blade.
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Damage roll, attack roll is the same as before
Bostarg Halvardonwine |
Seeing Blackerly before him and realizing he is no soldier, Bostarg slips through the door and to one side - drawing his cudgel as he does so. He hopes that the sight of the ogre would be sufficient to draw attention away from the little gnome and onto the larger prey.
Move action in, move action to draw cudgel.
I've moved myself on the map.
Morthos "the Malevolent" |
Morthos heads straight for the stairs in pursuit of Blackerly.
Double move towards the stairs. Didn't move my pawn as I can't really tell where the stairs begin. Going upstairs.
Seargent Blackerly |
A Double move puts you next to Blackerly. I put an arrow where the stairs start if that helps out. I moved Haruk to where I believe he was wanting to go.
Blackerly turns to this new threat, unsure of where to go, decides to try to take down Morthos. "Die you dog, die!" The vicious strike sinks deep into Morthos. Morthos, 10 points of damage. Seeing the man drop from his wounds, he proceeds to run towards the doorway.
The two dogs move forward, one towards Beatrix and another Haruk. The one charging towards Beatrix fails to find purchase with it's teeth, nor does the one on Haruk. Beatrix can make an AoO on the one attacking Haruk.
Alazandaru, Beatrix, Bostarg and Grumblejack are up.

Ah... GM, Alazandaru melee'd the Warden but I left it to you to move him on the map as it confused me a little, can you place him where appropiate and then i'll take my action?
The taunting is much more fun than calling for surrender :P.
Alazandaru Viorec |
Thanks
Alazandaru drew his mace, stepped up beside Beatrix and swung it with a great deal of force- he missed the mutt's head and slammed the mace into the floor- he scowled at the failed blow.

Grumblejack |
Grumblejack, seeing the Warden, comes into the tower, a rage in his eyes. "Grumblejack remember you. You little 'un mean to Grumblejack. Feed Grumblejack bad food. Now Grumblejack make you feel hurt." The fear in Blackerly's eyes is obvious as the Ogre strides towards him. Grumblejack raises his club and strikes at Blackerly. The blow is barely deflected by the seargent.

Moving us along since it's been 24+ hours.
Blackerly looks up at the ogre. Faced with threats from above, Blackerly does the only thing he can think of. He feints with his sword before charging past Grumblejack. With the weapon seized from the armory, Grumblejack strikes the fleeing Seargent, dealing a wicked blow to his side. Bostarg can hear the sound of ribs cracking as he flees past, making it just outside the doorway.
Upstairs, the remaining guard dog strikes at Beatrix, though it's teeth don't penetrate her stolen armor.

Blackerly is just outside the doorway, right square. I'll fix tonight.
Beatrix swings at the dog, who manages to dodge the powerful strike, growling furiously at the warrior.
Down stairs, Bostarg strikes Blackerly in the back with the cudgel, adding another rib to his list of broken bones. "Where did you come from?" Blackerly snarls at the gnome, clutching at his side.
Alazandaru & Haruk still to go.
King Markadian V |
I'll assume Haruk is delaying for now. When he posts, I'll resolve his actions.
Alzandaru's swing brings a splatter of blood from the dog's head, one of it's canines flying across the stairs. The blood splattered head of the weapon gives the grinning face an eerie quality. The dog whimpers from the blow, preparing to run from the villains, a four legged mockery of it's master below. The dog will retreat down the stairs, double moving. AoOs from Beatrice and Alazandaru if they choose.
Grumblejack stumbles forward toward Blackerly, reaching through the doorway to swing at the warden, but unable to manage to strike him.
Blackerly for a moment stares at the gnome, weighing his options, but reconsiders when the ogre's hand, weapon in hand, comes flying his way. He kicks at the gnome to distract him before turning tail and running. Blackerly withdraws. He'll start circling the prison around the west side (20'speed if you would like to move him).

Alazandaru did not truly want to slay the beast, it had done no wrong here and it had served its masters faithfully. He swung the mace as it whimpered away, but struck with the haft instead of the head, hoping to simply knock it unconscious. Wherever he and his new allies next called home, they could use a trained guard dog. It would not slow him down, strong as he was, to carry the dog in a sack.
Distracted by his sudden thought to use the dog instead of kill it, Alazandaru missed.

Seargent Blackerly |
Stairs are difficult terrain, so double movement. Looks like just shy of the door.
Bostarg charges the Seargent, but his swing goes wide only managing to trip him up slightly. Enough that Grumblejack comes up, squeezing through the doorway. Blackerly turns as the ogre comes up, desparate in his words, "Ogre, wouldn't the gnome there be a better treat? No armor to tear through. A quick morsel with a few more coming from behind." The terror in his eyes is plain.
The ogre turns to Bostarg, "Little 'un make Grumblejack sick. Littler 'un free Grumblejack." A wicked grin comes across Grumblejack's face. "What do littler 'un want Grumblejack do?" The Seargent goes pale.
Grumblejack double moved next to Blackerly, besides Bostarg. Blackerly standard to try to Diplomacy Grumblejack, 5' shift away. Everyone's up.

Hmmm, I thought you could try with a -10 penalty in one round. Maybe a 3.5 rule sneaking into my thoughts? Couldn't find it in the PRD though so no, that was an illegal action on Blackerly's part. What do you expect of the guy though? It doesn't affect the results of his actions, so I'll leave that part as is and he's just acting out of desparation.
Alazandaru Viorec |
Not even a 3.5 rule, afaik. No doubt a splat book allowed it with a feat or skill trick or something, but never in core.
My expectations of Blackerly are irrelevant, this is a rules issue. I just wanted to ensure we were on a level playing field, I think thematically trying to turn the Ogre against us is a desperate ploy on his part, which suits.
King Markadian V |
Apologies, only trying to make light. Just to confirm, I will hold my NPCs to the same rules as the PCs. The previous wasn an honest mistake on my part, not any attempt to twist the rules in my favor.
I have played through several different editions, in a couple different groups, each with their own homebrew rules. Occasionally I may mix up editions or even systems. This is not intentional. Just let me know if such happens and I'll fix it. I am only human afterall.
Oh yes, "HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE GM!!"
Haruk |
Action
Changing others’ attitudes with Diplomacy generally takes at least 1 full minute (10 consecutive full-round actions). In some situations, this time requirement may greatly increase. A rushed Diplomacy check can be made as a full-round action, but you take a -10 penalty on the check.
Emphasis mine. This is from the d20 Srd site.
There's nothing in PF however about a rushed check.
"Um, shouldn't we try and do something about Morthos, or are we gonna just leave him for dead?"
