Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir gently guides the Wolf's nose out or his pack and hands him a seoncd piece and pats his head gently.
"Good wolf, but stay out of there"
hmmm, I may have to get a lockbox to keep my rations safe from this one
Also, I think your Wolf HP is wrong. Animals only get avg HP for each HD not max (see http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2upip?Rules-Question-Animal-Companion-Starting- HP ) so it should be 9 + 2*CON Mod = 9 + 2*2 = 13
Arathorn/Atticus |
Your right Hallimir based on that post was using a generation website to help with character creation and that was the value it showed. Already made the change and while sad at the loss of 6 hp think I could make the jump to 15 if needed with the hunter's ability. Though not sure if I would go with the +2 con, +2 str, or the +2 Attack/Dodge bonus on AoOs as starting position.
Arathorn Vallar |
As far as I can tell he never stops eating and generally brings in a rabbit or bird while traveling whenever we stop for the night.
Calls Atticus to Heel before finishing
Assuming I can take 10 on the tricks outside of combat instead of rolling in these cases.
Should be useful in combat unless we are fighting outsiders or undead; been working with him on remaining unseen and flanking opponents as opposed to fighting them head on.
Arathorn Vallar |
Just so I'm clear on roles.
Looks at Zaratina Front line.
Looks at Hallimir Flank and dooropener/trapdealer.
I'm archer/tracker/healer with Atticus helping on tracking and flanking
Stares at Blane where do you fit exactly.
Haven't really read up on the witch and not sure is that pure spellcaster or some hybrid exactly.
Blane Bonesnatcher |
balne is a witch there a caster class he has healing abilites and hexes that debuff enemys. as they grow in lvl they get more buff and debuff spells and abilities.
blane looks over at arathorn "i hope he dont like rats." looking over at the wolf "im not that tasty so please dont try i might end up giving you a upset stomach."

The lands seem to brighten as the company leaves the realm of Ustalav and back into the more fluid borders of the River Kingdoms.
The land becomes a bit more civil as they draw nearer to the Allenstead. The hills become greener and a number of small farms dot the countryside all around.
Little more than a week after they began, (feel free to back-RP all you like) the party sees the walled town of Allenstead. All the older towns in the River Kingdoms having to have walls if they wish to last long enough to be considered 'towns'.
Coming around, they arrive at the northern most gateway, where they are challenged by a guardsman.
Hallimir Duskrin |
Over thr course of the week travelling, Hallimir (and I assume the others) fill Arathorn in on previous events and also notes that he does not deal with traps all that well, but prefers to operate from the shadows and darkness where possible. i.e. I am not a typical rogue. My profile has a link to the Shadow walker archetype...basically I give up trapfinding until I can take it as a rogue talent.
Upon arrival in Allenstead, Hallimir approaches the gate
"Hail Brother, We are travellers in this region and wish to purchase lodgings for the evening."
Arathorn Vallar |
Going to roll survival to see how well the foraging went on the journey. Along with this going to roll a perception as we arrive to the town to see if there is anything noteworthy.
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Also Arathorn isn't much of a people person so will be waiting on another to interact unless he has something critical to say. Blane so witch has some healing and most of the class's spells are more buffs/debuffs over damage.

Just because your character has low CHA and no ranks in social skills, don't just sit in the back and not talk...makes for a boring game in PBP (unless your doing something interesting that doesnt involve talking). Our last game had a rather low intelligence, low CHAR brawler who was hillarious in social situations because he still engaged like his character would.
Arathorn Vallar |
Not saying I won't post/talk just saying I'm kinda characterizing Arathorn as more of a loner/observer wanting to evaluate the situation before making any comments.
Also still trying to figure out exactly how I want to play him along with the fact this is only my 2nd PBP and the other is still ongoing currently so a little unsure how to react/push the story along at times.
Guardsman, |
Upon arrival in Allenstead, Hallimir approaches the gate "Hail Brother, We are travellers in this region and wish to purchase lodgings for the evening."
"That's nice. Live life as a monument to Razmir. I'll get your names for my list. When we are done here you can head down to the newly dubbed VI Hostel. I'm sure they've left a light on for you."
"What's the news in your town?" Zaratina asks innocently.
The guard looks squarely at Zaratina and in a serious tone says: "Questions are a burden to others; answers are a prison for oneself."
Arathorn Vallar |
Earlier in the trip.
I'm worried about what we will be walking into at Allenstead based on the journal and the swift conversion. Makes me think we will be dealing either with charmed individuals or recent conversions that will be zealots in their adherence to the tenants.
This is also part of the reason Arathorn was trying to observe the town and gate as the group walks up to it. Also, is there going to be any issue getting my companion, hope not but just curious.
Looking around the group.
Does anyone know the tenants/practices for the new religion for Allenstead.
Blane Bonesnatcher |
Blane looks curiously over at the guard. "our bames why do u need those unless we did something wrong already but im guessing if thats the case you would be throwing us in jail. What is this list does iy have the names of all the towns folk on it or maybe its a list of names for a special drawing for a prize. Is there a festival going on and we happen to be lucky enough to win.
As blane is talking he keeps trying to get close enough to look at the list with the names on it.
Zaratina |
"Ah, yes, right," Zaratina says in puzzlement. "My name is Zaratina, but I hope that my answer to your question does not imprison your burdened self."

The guard is human and therefore much taller than Blane so this becomes obvious (with the tip toes and the jumping and all). ;)
"Whoah, whoah, whoah. Sorry brother, but no lycanthropes are allowed inside, you'll have to wait out here, or better yet in the town jail, until the Lord Mayor Teag, may he climb forever, has the time to heal you of your horrible disfiguring condition. And don't get any ideas, we're all packing silver."
I should note, that this is traditionally the sort of thing that actual town guards do--keep track of strangers visiting town, because you know strangers and foreigners are usually up to no good, and will probably cause trouble. There should be a wall--oh wait there is one. If someone actually does see the list it looks like a sign-in book page from a hotel desk ledger book with names, times and dates, and points of origins for visitors who have come through this gate.
Not answering these questions will make it more difficult to get inside.
"Ah, yes, right," Zaratina says in puzzlement. "My name is Zaratina, but I hope that my answer to your question does not imprison your burdened self."
"It is, but one I gladly bear for the sake of the Master of the 31 Steps."
Blane Bonesnatcher |
i know this but blane has spent his life in a swamp so its all kinda new to him.
blane looks at the guard "lycanthrope im no wolf im a rat and the name is blane bonesnatcher." blane turns around and shows the guard his tail."see a rat tail not a wolf."
Hallimir Duskrin |
"now, now Blane, I am sure that the good man is only following orders." says Hallimir whist placing his hand on Blane's shoulder.
"I am Gillviaam Forshadow and these are my traveling companions. " says Hallimir as he stands to attention and bows slightly to the guard.
bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
"As for my friend here, as you can see...and hear...he is clearly not a lycanthrope, but a simple Ratfolk. I assure you, he will not cause you any trouble."
Zaratina |
"Isn't it clear that he's no lycanthrope given the lack of a full moon?" Zaratina asks with amusement as she takes out a silver coin. "And see, this doesn't bother him at all."
The Varisian repeatedly pokes Blane in the cheek with the silver coin.
Hallimir Duskrin |
Hallimir smirks slightly at the sight of Blane being poked in the cheek with a coin, trying very hard to suppress a small laugh.
"uummm, no...sorry, no 'e'. And yes, we are quite sure he is not a wererat. Now if you are quite done insulting my companion, we would quite like to get going.....it has been a long and trying journey."
Arathorn Vallar |

After saying this wanders slightly apart looking at the wall, but not before seeing a slight smirk and movement of the shoulders as he walks towards the wall.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Is the wall in good repair or is there any obvious damage to the wall speaking of troubles to the town.

Without checking the wall by hand in several locations all along its length it seems as good a wall as a person without Knowledge (engineering) might find. It seems clear and at least occasionally looked after.
Also I'm going to guess no one answered your previous question because of the lack of Knowledge (religion) skill among the group as a whole. There was a skill check roll asked for back here that had a very rough answer that Hallimir shared. I should note character's can attempt untrained knowledge checks that have a DC of 10 or less. Those are considered common knowledge.
The guardsman takes down the information you give him along with his own notes about the party's possible characters and lets them pass, With directions to a place called the Sixth Inn. The sign has the Azlanti runes for six, 'VI' on it, he adds helpfully.
"They usually leave a light on." He says as the group enters the town proper.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Allenstead is, on the whole, a nice seeming boarder village. It's smaller than the wall would suggest, a few dozen buildings (none taller than two-stories) dotted about a central lane. At the center of the village, construction is nearly complete on a large stone statue of a Razmiri priest that stands nearly 20 feet in height. The masked face of the statue peers down at a stage.

Hallimir Duskrin |
As they wander down towards the town centre, Hallimir pats Blane on the shoulder
"so ever been called a wererat before?"
Arathorn Vallar |
As Arathorn is following everyone continues to look around to try to gain an impression of the mood of the people as they are walking past.
Hmm. Wonder if the guard really expected commanding a lycanthrope would truely force a change. Also, think we may need to figure out who Lord Mayor Teag since assuming he is the priest that converted everyone with that staff.
Can we hear any criers shouting recent events nearby?

blane looks a zaratina and snaches the coin out of his hand and sticks it in his mouth. "that is very annoying there bud, but no it dont hurt at all."

"so ever been called a wererat before?"
blane kinda looks up at the collosal statue.
"no i have never been called that. wow this thing is huge i wonder if it is real."blane move up to it and starts scratching at it.

Not currently. Just a few merchants closing shop, it's almost sundown after all. People gotta get home before it's too dark out.
blane kinda looks up at the collosal statue.

blane move up to it and starts scratching at it.
Blane files his nails on the seemingly solid stone statue's stone robe.
Arathorn Vallar |
Guess no plaque yet for the statue.
While looking at Blane scratching the statue.
Wonder who this is supposed to be, and where is this inn? I am ready for some food not cooked over a campfire.
Hallimir Duskrin |
"well it is clearly a Razmiran priest...And I would hazard a guess that it is the new priest who has won this town over. Perhaps we should head to the inn and investigate tomorrow"
Blane Bonesnatcher |
blane turns around at the mention of the inn "yes lets go find the inn and settle in." blane pulls his hood down just a little farther maybe the people at the inn wont have a problem with a ratkin sleeping there.
at arathorn's mention of lycanthropy blane kinda scowls at him and sticks out his tongue as if the word left a bad taste. (Evan though im sure it was the silver coin he swallowed who knows where that had been.)

Or where indeed it is going.
The inn sits on the edge of the square noted on the map and is crowded with women and men just off from their day's labors.

Zaratina |
"Maybe we should ask someone about the statue," Zaratina suggests as they head toward the crowded inn and tavern. "Surely, that will get them talking."
Blane Bonesnatcher |
"well that would be a good idea zaratina but im gonna let you guys do the talking."
as they enter the in blane is noticeably nervous as he pulls his hood down just a little farther and tries to keep his tail out of sight.
Hallimir Duskrin |
More curious what we would hear just sitting in the common room. Really don't have a good feel of the town yet and the guard at the gate seemed really touchy about questions.
"Whilst I do agree, some well worded questions may elicit the information we seek. After all, this priest has apparently been able to convert an entire town who was opposed to Razmir until he arrived.....sounds like something they would want to talk about."
Hallimir then walks over to the bar and speaks with the barkeep.
"Good day my good fellow. We are travellers to your fair town and the guards were nice enough to direct us to this establishment. Might I trouble you for an ale."
Hallimir waits for the Bar tender to respond before continuing.
"On our way into town we noticed the statue in your town square, please excuse my ignorance, but, who is it?"

"Only so long as I can trouble you for money." Says the grinning, sweaty-looking barman. "That would be our new mayor, Folloth Teag, may he climb forever. Would you be needing beds with that ale? Religious instruction in the faith?"
Hallimir Duskrin |
"yes. Four beds for the night would also be appreciated, but the instruction is unnecessary. Thank you for the offer though. I would be very interested in meeting your Mayor if at all possible."
Abel du Bauch |
"Sure, sure. He's in the town square everyday at noon for the daily affirmations." Says the big red-faced man.
