Tawner motions to Lydia, as Hallimir is relating the experience in the cave system. "Lydia." He moves his hand around. "Lydia. That wand of healing should probably be used on Janira and Garrapata." Satisfied that he found her attention, he turns back to hear Hallimar finish the story.

Lydia and Tawner fumble for a moment over who has the healing wand, but in the end, somebody does, and uses it.

Didn't know I had it - also kind of figured it didn't matter who used it. Out of combat, people often just roll their own healing dice and gloss over the 'who used it' part so long as somebody can.

hah! Between you, me, and El Garrapata no one knows who has that wand. But seriously, you do. You have it. Perhaps we should give it back to El Garrapata since he gets it back at the conclusion of the adventure?

"Apologies Janira, allow me to explain....

After entering the cave we met a deaf old Gillman named Uori. He told us that the cave is an ancient shrine to Aroden which the Gillmen have since been using as a place of sacred place of meditation and worship."

Hallimir turns away from Janira and looks up into the night sky. "Unfortunately, many Gillmen have been disappearing in the caves, never to be seen again, and Uori had no idea why....we agreed to search and try to determine what had befallen the missing Azlanti."

Turning back to the group, "When we began our search, we came across a pair of Kobolds who had set up in one of the tunnels. They attacked us but when one tried to flee, it ended up engulfed in some kind of acidic jelly creature...which also attacked us....We could hear your battle with the Minotaur echoing through the caves and your words spurred us to a swift victory over the creature." Hallimir raises his fist in triumph.

"....we could hear your struggle and came as fast as we could to aid you".

"So 'no toast' huh? I'm famished after all that healing. Okay here's the plan. You guys get back in there and finish up--fast as you can. I'll hang out here and try to cover our tracks from any other minotaur scouts. Chop chop! .... Oh! and if you find any toast and jam...."

I haven't been this weary in a long time. Tawner thinks. But he's already shared his thoughts with the others. They will not be swayed, nor slowed. And so Tawner will try to keep pace.

He moves up next to Sidi. "I'm ready, my friend. Lead the way." He flexes his grip on his weapon and shield, breathes deep, and steadies himself.

A thought crosses his mind. Maybe I'll actually join the fray this time. He chuckles and then realizes that anyone can hear him laughing should they so choose. He'd rather not explain why, so he stops. And steadies himself once more.

Taking the left tunnel which by process of elimination, it being the only one left, must be the right tunnel, right? the group descends deeper into the mountain. Unlike some of the other caves there is no light, not even the blue fungus grows here and the party is forced to make due with a partially spent sunrod.

The tunnel is long and winding with short branches that quickly dead end sprouting all about it.

As the party moves on the air grows staler, and ranker, and the walls grow slick with slime. Finally the tunnel ends in a rough cul-de-sac, with a narrow crack leading off at a perpendicular angle from the main tunnel, just before the end. It is from that aperture that the stench is the foulest.

Three fetid, twitching, humanoids resolve out of the dark, in the midst of a cave full of ruin. They have gills like Uori but are even more deathly pale like the underside of a rotting fish.

Torn, and muddy paper, broken spelunking gear, and scientific equipment all lay stamped into the wet earth about the chamber. A pale corpse, equally spoiled, lays amid the wreckage, its limbs and neck all twisted at impossible angles.

The creatures seem to have heard the party's approach, and recognize them as invaders. With a guttural cry, they shamble forward with murderous intent!

Tawner is lucky as the Zombie engages Hallimir instead of him.

Maybe I'm not a threat.

Putting more into it, he brings his scimitar around in an all-out, almost reckless swing.

Melee vs yellow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

He doesn't believe in 'game balance'. Gandalf always lets him pass. As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard). The city guard often question him, just because they find him so interesting. His dice bag is woven from tarrasque leather. His TPKs end game lines. His blood cures moderate wounds. He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me. He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is just being him. ♬ He is indeed, the most interesting GM in the world. ♬

Hallimar slashes at the small, pallid, rotting woman further marring her animated body.

Lydia sweeps in just as Airyn was about to and sweeps her scythe through his target's midsection--disemboweling it, causing its fishy-smelling guts to slide out onto the cave floor and yet still not kill it.

Formalhaut shrugs.

Meanwhile, El Garrapata, Hallimar, and the corpse all evade Tawner's 'almost reckless' scimitar. *koff.* Channel positive energy. *koff.*

I have mixed feelings about that. I hope Tawner has Selective Channeling....

Oh yeah. I forgot Lydia complicates fighting zombie hordes. My bad. Stick with the scimitar!

Not my turn yet but Tawner's brain is always working

"Lydia! Get out of here!" Tawner's untested and useless fighting prowess is endangering his friends. He knows what he has to do.

You know you don't have to do that (or disrobe, or anything else like that) to channel or cast spells.

El Garrapata continues to pummel the poor woman's corpse, breaking the animated corpse's neck to the point that only damp, rotting flesh, and muscle are securing its flopping head to its body.

With a tremendous swing of his bludgeon, Sidi smashes the zombie into a lumpy pulp and bone that spray widely under the explosive blunt-force trauma.

Unmoved by their obviously fatal wounds and only moderately inconvenienced by the sudden and violent reconfiguration of their basic humanoid forms, the remaining zombies mindlessly press their attack, their gills reflexively working.
