Channeling from the divine source, Ssilax shapes his magics, seeking to pierce the resistance the demon are imbued with. Glaring at the two faced demon, the dragonkin skips and small talk with the pair of demons.

With a few words of prayer, Ssilax unleashes the holy power of Nethys upon the demons.

"Beware the two faced one, it's power can disrupt divine magics with a touch. The other is a berserker," Ssilax warns his friends.

Holy Smite, plus piercing magic metamagic feat (5 divine mana):10d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 4, 5, 5, 2, 2, 3, 3) = 32. Will save (20), spell resistance is lowered by 5 from MM feat.

16 points of damage

Both of the demons manage to fight off Ssilax's blinding Holy smite, taking a bit of damage from his spell though.

Daxniss growls at both demons and flings a finger up at the Rage demon, having a feeling that if they manage to get one down that it will be the allow the group to focus on the more dangerous demon, a ray shoots out her outstretched hand and strikes the Rage demon:

The spell strikes the Rage demon:

The Rage demon manages to stave off the more lethal of the spell and Daxniss curses, letting the demon get closer before unleashing her breath attack at it, she draws both her rapier and dagger, and moves closer to the demon and says to Argon " Time for some ice I think "

"Daxniss, can you move to flank?"

A quick spell (Quickened Geniekind - Efreet - 9 manai) transforms him into a genie, of sorts, with his skin turning red and horns growing on his head.

The Rage demon snarls at Argon the fire damage having no effect on the demon itself, in fact the demon seems to shrug off the blow from Argon thanks to it's demonic nature:

Rage Demon's action:

to hit Argon with it's spear:
1st attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26
damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 6) + 10 = 20
2nd attack 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13
3rd attack 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18

Thankfully Argon's training and his natural guile allows him to avoid the strikes from the Aeshma demon with ease, Argon notes that each strike from the spear seems to miss not being able to strike the Slayer at all.

The Shachath demon appears behind the group and reaches to touch Ssilax, with a smirk after he had said his words to the group, deciding that his holy smite spell was a greater target and the chance to corrupt a cleric is too great.

bad touch:

ingering Doubt (Su)

Once per day, a shachath can use a touch attack to affect a creature with lingering doubt. The target must be able to cast divine spells, be able to channel positive energy, or have the lay on hands ability. If the target fails a DC 20 Will save, all augury, commune, divination, and similar spells cast by the target automatically fail. In addition, using divine spells and spell-like abilities, channeling positive energy, or using lay on hands has a 20% chance of failure. This curse is permanent, but can be removed normally. The target cannot detect the curse on itself, but other creatures may detect the curse normally. A shachath may use scrying on the cursed creature as if it knew the target well, and doing so requires only a full-round action. A shachath may only curse one creature at any given time. The save DC is Charisma-based.

touch attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

Cue Round two.

Grunting in surprise as the demon's blade cut into his scales, Ssilax takes a step back and begins defensively casting, drawing from the divine source.

Remember folks if you are trying beat a creature's SR then you need to roll 1d20 + Caster level + any feats that assist you into overcoming SR. With Ssilax's feat that means instead of an SR check of 22 that he needs to meet or exceed, he has to get 17 or higher. I know it's been awhile and this I think is the first real encounter that has creatures with SR so if you forget then I will roll for you :)

The Shachath shrieks in anger as her vision is blinded by the spell, Daxniss takes this moment to quickly cast another spell this time focusing on the Shachath since it was the weaker of the two, before moving to flank again with Argon:
Disintegrate quicken:

Shachath: Between all of Ssilax's spells, and now Dax's Disintegrate the Shachath falls into a pile of ashes, no longer able to do anything as it is now no more.

The Rage Demon snarls at Argon and focuses on him:

Rage demon:

Argon manages to kill the Rage demon, even with it's now rage infused vitality the fact of the matter since it stopped caring about avoiding attacks, makes it much easier to hit for the slayer and the rest of the group. Normally when one slays a demon it goes back to it's plane, however in this case both of the corpses stay in this plane, the Forgotten Realms of Toril. Thus, gear can be looted from the two corpses however, that leaves Ssilax with the problem with changing the nature of the portal back to Sel Torin. Ssilax starts to ponder the bodies impaled onto the portal itself, thinking that it must be a clue to changing the nature of the portal back to where it needs to be.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon feels the blood draining from him, so as soon as he sees the demon drops, he cuts off its head, then he channels energy for all of the living.

Channel positive energy: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 4, 4, 2) = 18

"If we cut them down, will that help?" he asks.

Game master

Upon looking closer, the portal does ineed have spikes added to it, the portal itself normally doesn't have spikes, it looks like the the demons had grafted the spikes to the normal rings via a stone shape spell.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Looking between the bodies of the two demons and portal, Ssilax puzzles over the way that the Abyss was seeping into this plane. The dragonkin was fairly certain that the bodies impaled upon the spikes where the focal points the perverted the normal functions of the portal.

"So, you two might have already guessed this, but I believe the bodies adorning those spikes, are what is causing the corruption of the portal. I am going to consecrate the area, just to be on the safe side, and then we can get to work removing the mess the demons made." Ssilax speaks up after standing silent, lost in his thoughts. "Also, after I examine the two corpses, it would probably be best if the bodies were hit with a disintegrate spell."

Closing his eyes, the dragonkin cast Detect Magic, and shielded his precious sapphire orbs before opening them to begin studying the flow of magic. Ssilax wanted a clearer idea of how he was going to strip the corruption away from the portal. After concentrating for a few minutes, observing the flow of magics, the dragonkin weaves together the prayer to consecrate an area with Nethys's blessing.

"There, I think we are good to begin to remove the bodies. The spikes in the physical ring that contains the portal might have to shaved off as well. I am unsure, at the moment anyway. Our trip to Sigil reminded me that there is a mind boggling amount that I still have to learn. Ssilax says with a faint smile.

"Oh, and we should look around to see what those two demons might have looted from the area. If they found anything, or took what ever these poor bastards had on them. That is assuming their presence has not corrupted this area beyond anything having any usefulness."

Game master

Everyone starts to assist Ssilax, Daxniss checks the steps leading up to the portal juat to make certain that there are no traps. After spening some time ahe does locate one that is tied to the steps leading up to the portal, as it is a trap that transports a good aligned person onto the portal spikes, after disabling the trigger she casts a spell of flight on Ssilax and the others if needed to allow Ssilax the chance to study the bodies. Daxniss also spends more time searching for traps on the bodies themselves, making sure that there are no other surprises.

loot:

+ 1 longsword
+ 2 Spear (wounding)

+ 3 Breastplate
The rage demon has an amulet that is tied to the portal itself, Ssilax believes that this amulet was what made the rage demon so powerful, assisting it's demonic power and made it more resistant to blows along with a fast healing ability as well, the amulet will be required to be destroyed in order to help sever the connection that the abyss. Also the lost souls that are currently bound to the portal will need to be removed as well, Consecrating the area and turning all of the corpses into piles of dust will ensure that the portal can't be used by demons into this plane.

The bodies impailed onto the spikes are naked, any gear or items they might have had have been consumed by the portal itself. It takes a total of 48 hours to purify this area with divine magics and once the group has done that, the portal flashes and the unholy scene is now no more. Peering at the portal with magics it, seems to be waiting for the proper key that will activate it back to Sel Torin.

After finishing the last of the magical cleansing of the tower, Ssilax looks at the uncorrupted portal.

"That was quite the feat we have just accomplished," a smiling dragonkin congratulates his friends. Looking back at the now dormant portal, the dragonkin's eyes seem distant as he thinks for a few moments.

"Now we just have to find the portal key and we are homeward bound," Ssilax says with a chuckle.

The party spends time cleaning out the tower of all sorts of dead bodies while Ssilax is casting spells that will clense the tower from the demonic influence from the tainted from the portal. During that time the slayer and the rogue locate all sorts of smashed arcane experiments that Dainoth must have just ran out of time, or in his haste to leave the tower from whatever was following him from the portal.
Argon and Dax find that the steward bound up in spells that were preventing him from doing his protecting the tower, after all this time that, the steward thanks the two of them for freeing his bounds. After the magic circle that stopped him from moving around and performing his duties and making sure that people were not assaulting the tower.
The party finds out the steward has no name, and is a floating suit of armor, which reminds everyone of a helmed horror, who is pleasant to talk to and recognizes all three of you from Dainoth's description of the group.

Taking a drink from his mug of coffee, Ssilax sighs contentedly, looking over the cleaned and restored tower. Aside from cleansing the tower of the demonic taint, it had felt good to restore something of Dainoth's.

While the dragonkin wouldn't mind exploring this plane that they where in, it seemed quite the prime material plane, that would have to be at a later date. His curiosity would just have to make due with the few other thousand things running around in his mind. At the moment there was nothing further that they needed here.

"Everyone well rested?" Ssilax asks his friends when they happen to come across him in the dining chamber,

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon is not an arcane caster, but he's been around them enough not to be surprised, mostly, at all the strange things they find. After dealing with the impaled beings, burying them and saying a few words, this cleanup is much easier.

After they free the steward, Argon watches it for a while. Soon he asks, "How do you maintain security in the tower, steward? Do you have weapons? Because the bugs that had got in here were pretty big and... extraplanar. Oh, hey, speaking of planes, do you happen to have a key to our home?"

Game master

The Steward looks over at the three of you and turns to a wall, the wall shimmers out of existence and an two handed ax can be seen sitting on the wall, along with a number of weapons, the steward goes up to the weapon rack and twists a sphere that has been made out of obsidian, once that sphere has been rotated around 180 degrees everyone can hear a chime echo through out the building.
Everyone can feel a prescience in the air as various protection magics can be seen and felt as magic stirs in the air. The steward rotates another sphere that can be seen sitting on the opposite side of the small room with the weapon rack, the sphere is made from glass and pops out of the wall into his waiting hand. The steward floats back to the three of you and says in an emotionless voice " This tower is now protected and anything that is evil will have no foot hold in this tower now, This sphere is activate the portal back to Sel Torin. "

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Ssilax watches the Steward reactivate the towers defenses with keen interest. Seeing Dainoth's magic play out in front of him always felt like an lesson. A little something new learn, subtle details in how he wove his spells. It also reminded the dragonkin that there was so much to learn.

The dragonkin eyes the sphere for several moments, head cocked slightly to the side, seemingly lost in thought. Blinking a few times, Ssilax takes a drink from his mug, letting the coffee perk him up.

"I am glad to hear that the tower is protected, and it is defended once more," the dragonkin says to the the Steward. Looking over to his friends, a grin slides across his muzzle. "I am ready to go back home, I prepared teleportation magics to speed our return to Sanctuary," Ssilax chuckles as he reaches down to scratch Dog's ears. "As I rather doubt the portal was keyed to the former lich's lair."

Game master

The Steward nods at Ssilax's words and informs him " The tower has various circle of protection from evil, alarm spells, invisibility alarm, and any beings that teleport into the tower itself will be transported into dimensional anchored shackles inside cells. which is set to be miles away from the tower, where various beings will see if it is an adventuring party and see if they require assistance, or if it is a demon or devil and.... deal with them. "

Once everyone has had their fill of brunch, the portal awaits, ready for use from the party, and back to a point to their home.

Game master

Everyone has a few moments of worry as they approach the portal, after all of their travels and the fact that they had traveled various planes could if fact, arriving at a their home plane? Shrugging off doubt that had sneaked up on them Ssilax walks forward and activates the portal with the sphere. Energy surges as the magic starts the portal, blue and green lights flash as the portal opens back up revealing a nothing but an empty room that holds an open sarcophagus, oddly enough it looks like it had been opened from the inside, which would have taken a fair amount of strength.
As the group steps through the portal everyone feels a momentary delay as if the portal is moving them through space, once they arrive at their destination, there is a moment of adjusting to how this plane feels. After all of the parties time in other planes they can now sense that magic isn't as active here, more of a subtle thing as opposite to what they felt on Golarian which magic had an almost need to be used by everyone; or they way that magic was so readily available as it was in Sigil.
After all this time away everyone knows in their bones that this is indeed Sel Torin, as if something inside all of the party had a muscle that was tensed, can relax slightly. Clearing their heads the party can see that there is only one exit out of this room besides the portal a door leading to the north. Peering around the room everyone can see that it is a plane stone room, that is 30x30, the sarcophagus is empty when anyone chooses to peer into it.

Game master

Upon leaving the room, the rest of the group makes note that there is nothing special about the next room the only thing to note is that the party is currently moving north but in a more upwards direction as if the area you are in is a subterranean level. After walking up on a slope that is miles long, it takes long time to make your way onto the surface, an hour passes at everyone's best guess, the walls are made from well crafted stone but nothing special at least at a first glance.
After enough time has passed and everyone can feel that their calf muscles protesting the walk from the underground area. Upon the end of the walk on a slope a door stands closed in front of the group. After Daxniss checks it for traps and the to see if it is indeed locked which thankfully it is not. After spending some time and a bit of effort to open the door in front of you the light blinds the entire party for few moments, once everyone's eyes has adjusted you can see that you are on a mountain ledge.
Everyone spends a few moments adjusting to the change in the temperature as the wind picks up and all of you can feel that the air is somehow cleaner that what you what you had grown used too. On the horizon you can see that it is at least midday, and since the group is so high up, they can see that a city miles away from them, the city is has a port.

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" Well that was a fun trek, I'd rather not have to make that trek again... and what a view I have say the least. " Daxniss mutters to herself, a bit taken a back from the natural beauty that the this ledge offers.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"There's no place like home!" says Argon, truly happy to be back in this crazy world. "Yeah, I don't know why the corridor had to go up, if we're in a mountain. They could have made it level, then we'd have come out lower down. Oh well. Can anyone tell where we are? Or what that city is?"

Knowledge/geography: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

"It's strange. Now that we found Dainoth, I don't know what I should be doing.
Building our new city, I suppose. Making the world a better place...
"

Game master

At Argon's best guess you are not near any landmarks or cities that you can recognize that you have all spent time at, the city that the mountains are overlooking are in fact, The group could be in the mountains of Perugon or the mountain region of Byrn, without a map or it is difficult to tell where the party is. Ssilax is confident that he can teleport the group where they need to go though, so there is solace in that possibility. It would be unlike Dainoth to not have a safe place to teleport where ever he needed to go though. Argon thinks it is more than likely this is a mountain that isn't on the map of Saevia.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"Well, I can probably get us home with a few teleports. However, I would like to find out where we landed. Plus, we need to close this entrance back up," the dragonkin says. "Keeps the number of surprises down, if and when we need to use this portal again."

Looking over to Argon, Ssilax grins slightly.

"There are still a number of portals for us to clear, the celestials did pay us a fair bit of coin. And I would rather the major portals to and from our home plan are not exclusively held in the claws of demons or devils." Ssilax taps the side of his snout in thought as he speaks.

Taking a few moments, the dragonkin drinks in the view as Dog sniffs around, investigating the new scents.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"Perhaps if we wait until dark we can use the stars to estimate where we are. Or someone can go way up to see if any other land can be seen," says Argon.

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

Daxniss shakes her head and says " Well I can make us all fly and we can be invisible to get down the mountain at quickly, that should allow us to get a lay of the land so to speak, under the cover of night fall we should have very little problem with things trying to find us. Thankfully all of us can see in the dark with no problem. I can take all of us farther into the sky to see more of the area as well.
As for what we should do once we get back, I agree with Ssilax, we should complete the task that the Celestials paid us, if nothing else it will give us something else to do while other plans are currently taking place.
"

Game master

Taking Daxniss suggestion, along with Argon’s idea of flying high and getting a better view of the land that the group finds themselves in, after flying straight up into the air, while getting a better overview of the land, no one can see any familiar land marks, the usual harsh landscape that everyone has grown accustomed too until the cloud cover breaks and everyone has a better idea of where they are currently at in Saevia: The city the group can see is Akhyl ruins which can be see is 400 miles away from this mountain range, which isn’t on the map.
Everyone realizes that this must have been one of Master Dainoth’s long ago established sank, and the fact that it old as well, so old that no one bothered to look at this mountain for anything but strangely enough no one can remember hearing any rumors about this area, which is odd.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon seems to have his spirits lifted. "If those truly are the ruins of Akhyl, that means we are on Saevia, and not too far from home. Someday, perhaps, we will call them part of our domain."

Game master

Ssilax has a feeling that it would take at least two teleport spells to get the group vack to the city or at the very least where the star metal is at. It has been a strange journey to say the least, as Ssilax thinks that, the key that the celestials gave him vibrates in his back pack. After he pulls the key out, it serms to point in the ruins of the Akhyl as if there is a devil lord and the pprtal nearby.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Staring out over the ruins, Ssilax feels a strange feeling that something is shifting on its own in his backpack. Thinking of some of the odder things he had purchased in Sigil, the dragonkin quickly slides his back off his shoulder and rummages around inside. Pulling out the odd "key" the celestial had given them.

A low hissing whistle escapes from the dragonkin's maw as the bit of divinity shifts in his scaled palm pointing towards the ruins below.

"I should be able to get us home with a couple of teleports, or at the least I can get us back to the big lump of star metal we buried. Interestingly enough, there appears to be another devil or demon controlled portal in the nearby ruins," Ssilax says looking between the ruins and the celestial key in his palm. "I would suggest a bit of reconnaissance so we can narrow down where the portal might be. That we can prepare and then come back and cleanse it." Ssilax looks at his two friends and grins. "Or we can just hunt the portal down now and cleanse the pollution from it."

Game master

While Ssilax's thought of scouting sounds like a good idea there is somthing wrong with that idea almost as if going towards the ruins first feels like walking into a death trap. That and the fact the group feels an urge to head back home in order to find out what they had missed in their rime away from hime. Just knowing where there was a devil lord nearby was a source of fear and resolve, perhaps waiting to take this devil lord down for a lattet date would be for the best.
Everyone looks at the ruins, thanks f
To all of their time in Sigil and other plans can see that the entire ruins reminds them of what the portal that they jad to cleaf was like. Still the choice wof be left to evetyone that much would havr to be debated.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"Perhaps we should research the ruins first. I don't think we know much about them," suggests Argon.

"Plus, we would do well to prepare in other ways. Spells and such."

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" As much as I hate to agree, I'd rather spend a little bit of time back at the keep, there is something unsettling about this ruins. After all we did just get back home and I'd like to see what went on in our absence. "

Game master

As the group ponders their next move, storm clouds start to form within minutes the ruins are almost completely obscured due to rain and hail. Everyone is silent as the entire view point is covered in a frozen storm, and a rapid tornado throws around stone and other objects. Even so far away the sound is deafening, at a best guess this storm will lasf for s number of hours.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"The weather agrees," Ssilax says eith a dry chuckle as a sudden storm springs up. "Alright, everyone get ready, I am going to take us back to the buried star rock."

The dragonkin gives them a few moments to mentally prepare for the spells and then begins casting teleport.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"Why to the rock?" asks Argon, "Do you have a way to move it, or to break it up?"
