With Strange Aeons Even Death May Die

Game Master Synxol

We each dwell upon an island forged by our ignorance amidst the black seas of infinity. Should your feeble mind correlate the seemingly disassociated contents of your skull, thus affording you an opportunity to leave your island behind, terrifying vistas of reality will entomb you and you will never know peace.

It was only a matter of time...every species can smell its own extinction. The last ones left won't have a pretty time of it.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Walking into his chambers, Ssilax looks around, more out of habit than anything. The dragonkin thoughts where a whirling around his mind scape. He was excited that they finally found Dainoth, not to mention an alive Dainoth.

Thinking over their recent adventures, the dragonkin found his thoughts slowly shifting to Sel Torin. The places they had recently been had been amazing, full of mystery and wonder, but he was getting a little homesick.

Game master

Sorry folks about the lack of posting yesterday and the late post from me, I had to work today so I was running on e

Upon waking everyone feels the draw of Sel Torin, calling them back home, and as much as everyone had enjoyed all of the planes, the group feels the draw of going home, not to mention the deal the party had made to the angel about restoring balance to Sel Torin.
In the morning Dainoth looks at all of you and answers Argon question " Well that is up to all of you, if you wish you can remain here and assist me, I will return to Sel Torin soon, just not now, I have too much that I am currently working on. I know that now many things have changed in Sel Torin and that all of you have started something that will allow for change to happen sooner then what I had ever thought. I say to all of you what does your heart tell you? Stay here or go back to Sel Torin. None of you are apprentices at this point I will say that. "
After much thought over the course of breakfast Wrathe says " I will stay to assist you in your studies, and there is much that I need to do behind the scenes to free my sister, not to mention there is much I can do to aid in the freedom of my people, and the aid of not being in Sel Torin can allow me to work on saving those that I need to rescue. "
For now I'm going to retire Wrathe until Loki is going to come back to the group. Once he is settled then I'll port him back in. I am going with the thought process that everyone else wishes to return to Sel Torin

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"Apprentices? Ha, once you were, quite literally, grabbed out of our hands, we were no longer apprentices. That seems so long ago now, but it was only, what, less than three years past?" Argon enjoys the breakfast, loading up on meats and breads.

"So, did you say we were in a tower? Are there any windows we can look out and see what strange landscape is outside?? Not that I'll be surprised anymore...".

Game master

" Yes of course of course, there is a views to be seen if you wish to see the landscape. " Dainoth says with a chuckle and another doorway can be seen in the main study area hat leads to a balcony. Upon opening the door Argon sees a lush forest, mountains can be seen in the distance, the sun is shinning a normal color and when you look up you can see a dragon sunning itself on the roof. Glancing around you can see the scales of the dragon are a silver in color, and you can hear the snores coming from the dragon as well.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Looking out the newly opened windo, Ssilax looks at the dragon sunning itself and snoring, the dragonkin wondered if it was the same they saw earlier.

"I would like to return to Sel Torin, I have some things I am working on. Not to mention, for all its faults, it is still home," the dragonkin smiles as he looks back over at Dainoth.

Game master

" Of course, you all have had a hand in helping reshape the scene so to speak and of course you have also taken a job that will allow divine aid to have a bigger hand in this. I approve, when all of you are ready to go back to Sel Torin, let me know and I will take you to the gate that I used, or another one which, means we will have do a number of plane shifts to find a suitable one. " Dainoth says

Game master

Another day passes and the urge to get back to Sel Torin pushes the group into returning. There are two options open to thw group, use the portal that Dainoth used or find another one.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"Okay, so let's take Master Dainoth's gate and go back to Sel Torin. Master Dainoth, where can you bring us to?

Oh, that reminds me. Do you have any ideas about how to move a forty ton block of meteor several days overland?"

Argon is definitely ready to get back to work. He's wondering about Sanctum - how they're doing there.

Game master

" Elmentals would be your best bet my boy, and a shovel. " Dainoth says with a sly smile. With those words and everyone in agreement to take the same portal that Dainoth had taken, he leads the group to the basement where, a circle made out of silver and othet metals has been etched into the floor.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Chuckling at Dainoth's answer, Ssilax double checks his gear, and mentally goes over his spells and prayers. Scratching Dog's ears, the dragonkin his his adopted father a hug.

"Anything lurking in this portal area that we should be aware of? It doesn't open into he Arch Magus's secret lair or the like?" the dragon asks raising an eyeridge. "And perhaps Message us to keep us up to date on your general "still being alive and uncaptured status," just to keep us from showing up unannounced," Ssilax adds with a laugh.

Game master

Dainoth let's out a snort and says " It will be difficult to send the message, the nature of Sel Torin itself makes sending messages, not to mention that this tower makes it impossible to send anything out or in. The nature of the Faraday cage is in itself to protect those that are in the cage, but I'll get something out to you all when I get a chance. "
Just got a quiet moment, today has been murphy's law at work. Will post again when I get home.

Game master

Dainoth shakes his head and says " I don't believe that here will be anything waiting for you at the other end of the teleportation circle, and using the gate will not have any ill effect, since whatever was waiting is searching for me. If there is anything waiting to attack it might be a lower devil at best, not anything that will trouble any of you on your own. " With that being said he hands Ssilax a map and a strange glowing stone and says " This is activate the portal back to Sel Torin for all of you, the map will be marked on where the portal is at, and where you will end up after using the portal to Sel Torin. The portal itself is limited in the number of uses as the magic sustaining only works 4 times a year, it is tied to the end of every season and takes a long time to recharge. "
Dainoth waves of you that are leaving the tower to the middle of the circle and, says " Alright now, I will see all sooner or later, and if something critical happens, I'll make sure a messenger spirit finds all you to let you know what happened, and I will make sure to send you all an update every now and then. Now I'm sure that you all of things to do besides hang out with an old man now be off, you have a world to change. "
With those words said all you feel Dainoth's pride at those that have survived a harrowing trek across many planes to find him and the circle glows with activated magics, the last of Dainoth and Wrathe that you see before the spell activate, is both of them waving.

Game master

Once the spell fades you find yourselves in a cave that has been worked over, there is evidence that this use to be mine but it hasn't been active in some time. Everyone's vision is drawn to the north where there is daylight streaming from the entrance, there is a path that leads further in, a few skeletons can be seen lining the ground. Upon further study the bones look like they were bugbears and a few hobgoblins as well, a red hued dust coats the floor and the smell of sulfur assaults your sense of smell.
Everyone decides that staying here isn't going to do much and moves forward towards the entrance where, upon reaching the surface you pass by a sign that says " Mine closed due to poison gas " The surface world hits all of you with the oppressive heat of a jungle, everyone is coated in a sheet of perspiration as the humidity strikes at the same time as the heat slaps you all in the face.
Pulling out the map, Ssilax notes the map itself is extremely detailed, going about long the portal is from the mine: North for 10 times, a path way leading away from the mine, leading a 'forgotten' tower that will hold the portal.

Game master

It is about midday at the moment, the sounds of insects buzzing around you, all sorts of animal calls can be heard around the forest. Looking around at the mine, there are no signs of dead animals in around the mine, indeed it looks like this mine has been abandoned for perhaps 5 years as you make note of buildings that the jungle is reclaiming for man.
Glancing at the 'path' all of you shrug at the current overgrown nature of the flora and start moving, hours pass and the animals scatter away from the group thanks to the otherworldly nature of some of the party. When the party reaches the forgotten tower at around dusk thanks to the overgrown path, trees are tall enough to block out the sun, and it would be difficult to make your way north but all of you have spent enough time outdoors. In the travels through you have been rained on a number of times, and you have hear the sounds of the jungle nightlife start to awaken.
Upon reaching the clearing where the tower is at, you can see signs of movement around the tower as the tower itself has a number of spiders the size of wagons crawling around, a number of hanging cocoons can be seen. Evidence that this a recent spider nest and the sounds of a scream being cut off midway can be heard from the entrance to the tower.

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" Uh Spiders, why did it have to involve spiders. " Daxniss says with a curse, and starts to look at the best way to remove all of the spiders without being bit, after all, the spiders were rather large and all of you would rather not have to deal with fighting off the effects of dealing with may gallons of venom.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon feels the urge to rush in and start chopping off spider legs but resists the urge. Instead he studies the situation, counting visible spiders and their locations, and distance from each other. He looks for groups that would be affected by a fireball.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"It could be worse," Ssilax dryly responds to Dax. The dragonkin's sapphire orbs scan over the large spider nest. "It could be scorpions. Or a nest of land sharks."

"Did anyone see who screamed out? I would rather not leave someone to be eaten if we can help it," the dragonkin says .

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" Well if it was land sharks that wouls be more entertaining and less icky. " Dax mutters and starts glancing around, getting ready to start bringing fire to webs.
" As for the scream it sounded like it coming from the entrance so someone was at least alive or knocked out "

Game master

No matter the best course of action the group is going to take there are still a number of webs that will hamper movement and enough spiders that there will be some sort of combat happening as once you start going forward towards the tower the spiders will start to go in your direction.
cue party for a surprise round.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

How many spiders are three, and how are they distributed?

Game master

The spiders are in groups of three, there appear to be roughly 15 on the outside of the tower: If I wasn't at work I'd build a map for us, when I get home, I will start working on a few maps of the outside area and the inner tower, you will be able to nuke one group with a fireball, a flame strike might get two of the three.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon looks at the others. Only three of them now. He is not sure what spells Dax has, but expects she must have some destructive power. Ssilax, too, has a plethora of spells.

"Fire, then?" he says, smiling. He was born among fire.

He casts a Maximized Fireball at the pair of groups on the right (60 dam, DC 17, 6 mana), trying to get as many spiders in it as he can.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"Try to avoid setting the jungle on fire," Ssilax comments with a chuckle as he begins casting his own spell.

Moments later, barely visible shimmer of magical energy appears around the group of large spiders. The mystical interference seeks to hamper the movements of the arachnids before they could close in on the party.

Casting Slow, save is Will at 17

Game master

spider group 2 and 3 take the full brunt of being slowed, unable to resist the Dragonkin's magics, like wise the spider grouping, is lit on fire, the squeal of burning spiders hits everyone's ears, and before they can move, Daxniss lobs a fireball to hit the same group. Between Argon's and Daxniss spells the group to the right of the party is flash fried, and the large group to the left is slowed by Ssilax's spell. Everyone makes note the spiders seemed to take more damage from the fire spells, but that could have been the fact that the webs were engulfed with fire as well.
Cue party for non surprise round.

Game master

The spiders are alerted that there is something causing problems, and the rest of the spiders turn toward the party, and emit a screech of rage and start moving forward. Daxniss lobs another fireball towards the faster moving ones, glad that Ssilax had slowed a group of them down, as they will not be moving to attack the group yet.
The spiders move closer and closer but even the disturbing amount of movement that the spiders are doing will not reach the group:
Still awaiting party's actions, Dax has already gone this round, the last round was the group's surprise round

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Looking at the flames from the burning webs, Ssilax hears the collective screech. Taking a few steps back from the onrushing mob of massive arachnids, the dragonkin begins another spell.

Using the fire as his focus points, Ssilax's magics reach out into the planes. The tendrils of his spell ensure a grouping of fire elementals, merrily burning away in their home plane.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon sees the spiders moving closer and, not really wanting to fight them, casts another fireball at the moving group.

Maximized Fireball (60 dam, DC 17, 6 mana).

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Summon Monster V, going for 1d3 medium Fire elementals; 1d3 ⇒ 1 summoned. total mana Divine: 90/95; Domain: 21/21; Arcane: 73/77

Game master

Everyone's spells and the fire elemental make quick work of the spiders, the smell of scorched flesh and the fire elemental giving the spiders hugs. The fire elemental clears the webs around the door itself and the group starts to move forward. Or the group could see what aort of beings were trapped in the webs, the occupents of the webs are not moving and there is a good chance that the beings are dead or unconscious.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Figuring if the captives are alive they'll be alive for a few more minutes, Argon does a quick survey trip around the tower, to ensure it is safe in the immediate short term.

Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Looking over at the eight foot tall fire elemental giving the giant spider it's special friendship hug, Ssilax looks as though he is about to say something. Shaking his head slightly, the dragonkin turns his attention back to the entrance.

Reaching into depths of one of inner pockets and digging for a few moments, Ssilax pulls out a worn set of red crystal lens. Carefully, he places them near the end of his muzzle, just behind his nostril ridges. The lens had obviously been crafted for a being with a muzzle rather then a nose.

Using the magic within the Deathwatch Lens, Ssilax surveys the damage. He was hoping they hadn't accidently set anyone of fire, or worse.

Game master

Argon's keen eyes detect that this structure isn't in any danger of collapsing any time soon, in fact it appears to be a newer construction that the surrounding area depicts. Glancing around he makes note that the spiders have been infesting this area for perhaps the last few weeks, it is unlikely that Master Dainoth had spent anytime dealing with the spiders, likely once he had activated the portal, he must have teleported to the mine.
Argon also notes that normally there would be a number of jungle creatures here, but they seem to currently be giving this area a wide berth. Which, on many levels is odd, or it could be that the spiders have been grabbing whatever they could find, in fact they do not seem to be acting like normally spiders, magic seems to be the only logical explaination here.
Ssilax looks around at a number of the webs, and many of the trapped creatures are indeed dead. A few webs hold animals that are still alive all though dealing with a number of poisoned spider bites, if they are freed there might be a chance that they could survive. Any humanoids that were in the webs were the first to go, that much everyone can see, almost as if the spiders knew that they were the biggest threat.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon comes back and says to the others, "Looks like the spiders were brought or summoned here recently."

He goes to the entrance, shield ready and falcata drawn, and looks into the tower and up the stairs (or ladder?).

Game master

Argon notes that the tower has stairs leading up the door itself which isn't blocked, the door is hanging on by a thread. As Argon gets closer, the door gives up it's battle against entropy and slams onto the floor and shatters, and a cloud of bugs scatter away from Argon.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

Ssilax jumps in place from where he was cutting the undamaged webs open. The thought of being trapped and starving was all the motivation the dragonkin needed.

Seeing the door on the ground, the dragonkin chuckles. Finishing up, he looks down the opening.

"Shall we have a look since we are here?" Ssilax asks his friends.

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" Aye seems like a good plan, I'm not worried about traps, it would seem that the spiders would have taken care of activating most of them on the ceiling and walls. " Daxniss says

Game master

Everyone is in agreement, and Argon leads the way, as some light has creeped into the room, everyone is glad that they have an ability to see in the dark. Argon notes that the building has a number of webs spun from the ceiling to the floor, as well as some of the corners have a funnel shape to them.
Argon sees another door close to him, on the left and on the opposite side of the room he sees another door, Argon estimates that the tower is about a 60x200, and also makes note that the ceiling is made from stone, and well crafted as well.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"I am really beginning to dislike spiders," the dragonkin mutters as he looks around the webbed up room. Dog "woofs" quietly in agreement.

"Well, should we start we start along the left and work our way around?" Ssilax quietly asks his friends.

Game master

The party spends a few moments deciding which diretion to go and choose the left passage, the classic direction. Argon leads with Dax pulling a rear guard, lettimg Ssilax and Dog be in the middle. Aron makes it to the door and finds that iy is indeed locked. As he turns around to ask Daxniss to unlock it, she snaps her fingers and the door opens, the lock falling off the door, no traps are detected on the door and Daxniss switches places with Argon, and she stands in the doorway.
Daxniss shakes her head and lets the others know that the doorway isn't trapped " Oddly enough this seems more like a feasting hall. "

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon looks with surprise as Daxniss magically removes the door's lock.

"Remember, we're here for a portal. And to rescue anyone who those spiders have trapped."

He starts looking around the room for victims, spiders, or some other nasty creature.

Female Wyrmtouched Gestalt Unchained Rogue Sorcerer level 12

" Aye, that is a good idea just this room seems rather odd to say the least. " Daxniss says and starts to look around the room, making sure since this door was locked that there isn't any traps or surprises.

Game master

Going over the room, it looks large enough to hold about 10 humanoid's comfortably, the chairs and table are kept in immaculate condition as glancing around the room those that can see in the magic sphere make note of a number of aura's that remind you of unseen servants. Indeed as the party enters the room a voice in common with a hint of a noble upbringing says to the group " Ah Messieurs and Mademoiselle, greeting how can we be of service to the you, and of course your canine is quite welcome. We have a number of treats if you are feeling a bit on the peckish sphere, if you need anything let us know. "

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"I do have teleport magics, so that will aid our travels around Sel Torin," Ssilax says to Argon.

Spinning around at the sound of the newest voice, the dragonkin stares for a few moments. Observing the sphere for a fee more seconds.

"Greetings to you as well. May we inquire as to what happened to the previous occupants?" Ssilax asks of what he was guessing was a magical construct.

Game master

" Ah well the master did say he would be taking an extended holiday but that if someone managed to open the door that we should avail our services to anyone whom was seeking refreshment, since then we have made sure that the room stayed clean. Other then that it has been some time since anyone has stepped into this room, as for the passage of time I have no clue how long. " The voice says with a hint of regret, as if he wishes he could be of more help but it limited in a fashion.
Ssilax would guess that if Dainoth had closed this tower up, then the magic who have to be a permanency spell, and perhaps an animate object spell to keep the magic going. Everyone who uses Arcane magic that it is rather prevalent as it was in Golarion, perhaps not as powerful but there is evidence that the weave of magic is in use all around the plane.
" I am surprised that none of the other custodians of this building have not made themselves known, perhaps something came through the portal in the basement, that disrupted the protection magics through out the tower. Master made sure that this tower would remain invisible to others passing by, and enough spells to give the animals cause to stay away. "

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"Something came out the basement you say," Ssilax looks at his friends. The dragonkin thinks for a few moments. If there was a portal, they had to investigate. "We should check out the basement then. And check out the rest of the area to make sure nothing crawled out. "

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

"What is the name of your master?" asks Argon of the disembodied voice.

Game master

" Why Master Dainoth good sir, he is the one who brought substance to our existence, his orders we follow until the final act of his final crossing into the void. " The unseen voice says to Argon. " Jolly good sir, if you manage to clear out any beings that managed to cross over the portal I am sure that you would be rewarded by the steward of the tower, He is a floating suit of armor, I am surprised that you have not ran into him yet, he normally greats those that manage to make into the tower. " The voice says.

Male Dragonkin Cleric/Wizard level 12

"Well, if this Master Dainoth's creation, I have an excellent way to test our theory," Ssilax says with a grin as he looks over at Argon.

"I would like a mug of the Master's preferred coffee," the dragonkin speaks to the magical servant sphere. Ssilax's own love of coffee had grown from growing up around Dainoth. If this was Dainoth's creation there was going to coffee here.

Game master

No sooner then Ssilax asks for coffee it appears in a travel tankard, with a way to secure it from being tossed around. With that being the case, there are other rooms to explore, unless the group has the desire to eat. Ssilax, once you take a sip from the tankard, you know it to be one of Dainoth's favorite blends.

Male Argon Gestalt Slayer-Cleric 12

Argon is satisfied that the tower is Dainoth's, and wonders about the spiders. Again, he asks the invisible servant, "Tell us, did the giant spiders outside manage to get into this tower? Did they cause any trouble or are any still here?"
