Zevon pulls the nails from the nearest fry and pockets them.

It seems we are one the right track. I say we move to the north, avoid the swamp... For Rhen's sake.


The swamp varies greatly in terrain, even in the outskirts. You can never see more that 120 ft from your present location due to the brush, undergrowth and an occasional tree. At first there is one foot of water with one foot of mud. Your movement is greatly slowed by this. On occasion you are forced to move through deeper areas where the water is up to 4 feet deep. Movement through this is even slower. You do locate raised paths meandering through the swamp and use these as much as possible. While on one of the paths, you see and hear a patrol of hobgoblins. You estimate they are 50 ft away. They see you as well. The leader is mounted on a huge toad. He is accompanied by six hobgoblin warriors. The toad is tattooed with elaborate flames across its head and body, giving it an evil, demonic appearance. It is bridled. Every member of the group wields cold iron weapons and sports allegiance tattoos of orange flames on their arms and legs.

The leader turns the toad in your direction and addresses you, longbow at the ready. "I am Gervarg Murt, leader of the Hellfire Militia patrol. You are trespassers here. Go back the way you came." The others ready javelins.

As Grokar moves in closer, Gervarg barks some orders in goblin. The hobgoblin warrior drops his javelin, draws his longsword as he approaches Grokar and swings his blade. He draws an attack of opportunity from Grokar and dies for that mistake. Blue moves and throws a javelin at Grokar. He misses. Green moves and throws a Javelin at Grokar. He misses. Grokar still being in his rage searches for something else to kill. Ge whirls around and sees one last hobgoblin still standing. He takes two slow deliberate steps toward the creatue and swings Becky with all his might.

That's a lovely sentiment, but there is no way to stop Grokar at this point

He rounds on Zevon and raises his hammer, but out of the corner of his eye he recognizes a dwarf and his rage subsides. Collapsing to the ground he sucks down huge gulps of air. When he has settled down a bit he asks in a weary voice, "Where froggy go?


Grokar kills the last of the patrol.
End initiative.

Zevon begins searching the bodies for any interesting gear.


The rider leave you with a masterwork studded leather, masterwork composite longbow (+2 Strength) with 30 cold iron arrows, and a cold iron longsword

The six warriors each carried leather armor, +1 light shield, and a cold iron longsword. Together they carried a total of 25 cold iron javelins.

They all are sporting allegiance tattoos of orange flames on their arms and legs.
