I have created a Changeling Lunar Oracle with the Feral Curse for your approval (This character I am posting as). Still have to decide on a background though to use, probably some orphan child who was cast out into the wilderness as a young girl as her growing divine powers and changeling traits frightened people. One of my Oracle abilities makes me immune to Lycanthropy. I hope that is not to broken to have as an ability in Ravenloft where the threat of Lycanthropy is very prevalent.

I also have fond memories of 2nd edition ravenloft... I played 2nd edition from the time it came out until a little after 3.0 came out (we finished our 2e campaign while starting our first 3ed game) and ravenloft was always my favorite 2e setting (I wish i still had all those old ravenloft books to look through right now in preparation, lol).

And the applications continue to roll in! Excellent.
Corrine, have you read up on Verbrek yet? Just curious!
Also, I checked the Google Drive/Docs and everything appears to be working fine, with all the books in place. Remember, you may have to click the Ravenloft Materials folder to bring up the files.

She isn't quite ready to go live, but I'm working up Angeline Sainte-Champ, of Souraigne. She's a Caliban bloodrager with the undead bloodline. None of her ancestors were undead, she was simply born too close to far too much necromantic energy.
There are a couple of things I want to check.
1. Should I assume that the bloodrage and the bloodline are affected by the dark powers as a barbarian's rage and as a sorcerer with the undead bloodline, according to the Mistfinder pdf?
2. What are we doing about languages?
3. May I assume that the Caliban's Tainted by the Supernatural ((Ex): Caliban treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer and oracle class abilities.) applies to the Bloodrager as well?

So I've been doing some thinking, and I'm starting to lean towards a combination of the Life Leech and Sadist archetypes, in addition to the Soulthief method. It would give the character a more offensive bent, but he'd still be a fantastic group healer. I wanted to run this bit by you first, DM, because I'm not sure if it's the kind of thing you want in your game.
As far as the character himself goes, so far my dwarf is a Pharasman (or similar deity, if we're not using Golarion's pantheons) inquisitor who has been sent to Ravenloft to smite the undead that seem to thrive in the area. He's going to be NG or TN (with good leanings in the case of the latter) and due to the pairing of the archetypes I mentioned, will be built around forcing enemies into his collective, then stripping their life force (which they shouldn't have anymore, because PEOPLE DIE WHEN THEY ARE KILLED) and using it to bolster his allies.
Sadly enough, the part I'm having the hardest time with right now is naming my erstwhile adventurer. The players guide leads me to believe that names with heavy Slavic influence are probably good choices, but I'm struggling to find a Slavic name that is also suitably dwarf-y. :)
GM The Dark Powers |
Anteu, there are basically two 'sun gods' in Ravenloft, which may actually be one that is worshiped as two separate beings by the denizens of Ravenloft. Look up the religion chapter in the core book, specifically for Belenus and The Morninglord.
Seranov, the equivalent of Pharasma in Ravenloft is the Eternal Order, which is a grim, 'balance of life and death'-style religion. The religion has no god, per se, unless you consider the various spirits and the countless souls of the dead as gods. I have no issues with the combination you are proposing, but remember my caveat. As I said, it will not impact your submission's position in any way, I just don't want you to fail a Dark Power's check for committing an evil act, gain a curse, and wonder what happened lol. I rather like having a dark PC or two in Ravenloft, since the setting is about moral absolutes in a world with dark grey morality, a paradox that is quite fun to play out. And just as an aside, most people do not come to Ravenloft by choice, they are snatched by the Mists, according to the Dark Powers desires. And, interestingly enough, they can sever direct connections to divine casters and their gods, replacing the magic source somehow while leaving the follower with no way of directly connecting to their deity.

Dragoon Changes-
Hey, I was wondering if you would be ok with modifying the fighter archetype (dragoon). My goal is to make it much more like the dragoon from the Final Fantasy series.
*1- Swap mounted combat + skill focus ride, with- weapon focus spear, gain acrobatics as class ability.
5- stays the same
7- stays the same
9- Stays the same
*11- Change it to- As part of a charge action, the dragoon may make an attack roll at his highest Base attack bonus against any enemies directly behind (in a line) the target of his charge that are within reach. Taking any penalties he would normally gain. (cover/concealment/etc)
*15- change to- As part of a charge action, the dragoon may make an acrobatics check, if he jumps 10ft or more he is counted as using a lance with a mounted charge. Double his AC penalties for charging.
more too come. Should have a lot more by monday night.

Sounds great. That definitely fits the concept I'm going for, so I'll go with the Eternal Order. I think struggling with my character's use of powers he may not completely understand or control would be fantastic. I can have him start as a servant of the Eternal Order, and uses his powers to heal the sick and strike down evil. :)
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth, you have a reply in your box.
Yes, precisely. Either that or you gain some sort of ancient bloodfeud. I'm still considering the specifics.
Without knowing the specifics, I don't know the amount I have to spend on equipment, what families might have a claim on Risbeth (and thus should be mentioned in her background, what types of duties, etc), so until the specifics come in, I can't continue.
GM The Dark Powers |
Risbeth, my mistake, it seems the message did not send. I will send you one later after I finish up a few things.
Kayne, underdstandable. If you change your mind, let me know.
Angeline, quite an interesting background! It captures a good bit of Souragne's flavor and provides an interesting reason for both the race AND bloodline.
Dunja Hanna |
I'll be submitting this character for consideration:
A mostly heroic gypsie haunted by the restless spirit of a great warrior.
I'm looking forward to seeing how everything goes. If anyone wants to work on linking backstories I'm open to it as mine is still maleable right now.
I also welcome any feedback or criticism that anyone may have.
Arthur Ladrian |
[Previously posted on other Thread as spinningdice]
Still working on this guy, any objections to assuming gear can be crafted pre-start. Not magic items etc, but he has craft:Alchemy and the Gunsmithing feat.
I assume Daguerreotype is a valid choice of craft, though it's only really a hobby skill, not expecting it to be that useful.
Vague Backstory: that I'm still working on is that Arthur was/is a detective in the Paridon police constabulary, he's spent his life tracking down murderers and other unsavouries and has thus far encountered no evidence of true magic or monsters, that can't be passed off as parlour tricks and unusual animals, presumably from far off reaches.
His faith will have been shaken by a recent encounter (details to be decided) and he's out to prove that magic does not exist and things can be explained with proper application of logic and science.
He plays lip-service to the "Divinity of Mankind" but doesn't really consider it to have any impact on his life.
Party role is essentially support, will focus on healing/buffing with his extracts and will try and keep out the way and shoot things.
Angeline Sainte-Champ |
@ Kelarith: He kind of addressed that here.
@ The Dark Powers: Angeline goes where the mists take her. That said, if they should happen to take her home to Souragne, she'd be thrilled. She would also enjoy Paridon, Tepest, Richemulot or Lamordia.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth is not a dark character. She's just cheerfully ruthless. Those who don't annoy her (read, smart, charming people who don't get in her way) she is extremely fun to be around. Those who annoy her (read dumb, obnoxious people who try to stop her from getting her way) she polite but firm with. Said firmness escalating from reasoned discourse to oh god no stop the burning oh god oh god oh god.
Sonia Rostova |
Sonia isn't particularly villainous nor heroic. I would describe her as more single minded and obsessive. She has a single goal and whoever can help her get there easiest wins out.
Also she is a firm supporter of white glove tactics-whether or not the Dark Powers agree. She views herself as a victim and/or innocent.

Seranov |
Pyotr (as I have decided to name him, as it can apparently be translated to "Stone" from its native Russian :D ) is going to be a calm, sage fellow who is intent on helping the weak and wounded, while destroying the undead and other such aberrations. Though he will be meddling with powers that are partly beyond his understanding, he uses them with only the best intentions.
GM The Dark Powers |
Hmmm... that's covered under copyright as well, despite no longer being available in print or PDF? That certainly complicates explaining the world to new characters, but I suppose it can't be helped.
Since this will be a large 'barrier to entry' for new players, given that most online resources on Ravenloft are NOT player-friendly and thus contain spoilers, everyone who has posted thus far please post when you are finished and, once it looks like everyone interested has put in an application for a character slot, I will make my selections.
GM The Dark Powers |
Risbeth, I rather like your character, I was just busy and completely forgot. Let me ask you: what sort of real-world nation and time period do you see Risbeth belonging to? I will take that and do a write-up on an appropriate domain.
So it looks like a good many people are already finished. After Seranov finishes, I will begin the process of reviewing and selecting applicants!
Drogeney |
I'll polish off my submission and post it after work tonight. I have put together a Predisposed aasimar oracle of flames. Almost finished with the crunch, only a few things left to do then backstory and such, at least as much of a backstory as I can without access to the books (couldn't see them before the link was removed). Shouldn't take much more than an hour after I get home to finish it.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
I would say that Risbeth is from a Victorian London setting, with early revolvers. Almost steampunkish, if that makes sense. Say, Sherlock Holmish era and location. Indoor plumming, but only the wealthy have it, and no motor cars. Pistols are likely either late cap and ball or early cartridge, no automatics. A good example might be League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
GM The Dark Powers |
Rorek55, understood, I will wait of course, at least until the designated 2 weeks is up, if it takes that.
Gambit, that background is acceptable. Hopefully you've picked up a language, of course! Also, which conversion is that? There were a few I posted.
Risbeth, the closest thing is Paridon. The Fraternity of Shadows made a fan-book on the Zherisia Cluster, which they have made as a free download on their WEBSITE. Now, in case someone thinks these are illegal downloads, these are FAN-MADE and FREE, on the group's own website, so hopefully the link is not taken down.
Kenderkin, your DM must have been quite generous allowing that everfull decanter!
