So, I was looking for a summon that I could communicate with; and I finally figured out that since we all know Aquan, I could talk to water elementals. (I wish I could say that I planned it that way on purpose, but no.) The question is, could it be something where somehow the same one keeps answering the call, so we actually have a relationship?
What I'm thinking is that sometimes -- when he has plenty of magic left to use, right before bedtime -- Tudan will summon Pluck the small water elemental, just to ask him how his day was. Kind of like a pet that you could talk to, and could only see for less than a minute at a time.
Hey guys, just wanted to apologize for not posting all weekend. It was my daughters first birthday and we've got family in town and everything so it was butt hectic.
Congratulations :) Sounds like a pretty busy time.
I have an apology too - I'm going on a three day hike through the mountains from tomorrow. I'll try to post tomorrow morning before I go, but may not manage it.
It was amazing. We were driven to the start of the route, and then picked up three days later and 40 kilometers away. The track went through forests and up valleys, beside lakes and into high mountain passes that later in the year will be impassible with snow.
We walked for about 7 hours each day, and took about 400 photos. Because it was our first time hiking multi-day in alpine terrain, we paid to have guides and to have access to overnight lodges. Next time we'll go more basic and carry our own food.
Hey everyone, quick heads up that my travels have taken me to a part of NZ with very very spotty cell phone and internet provision. I've just driven 60 kilometers to find a town where I can get a signal. We're staying long enough to have a coffee and answer some urgent emails, then it's back to the dark ages.
I should be back in a couple of days time - or heck maybe the lodge we stay in tonight will have wifi - but basically expect nothing from me for a day or two.
Sorry that this is going so lumpy, I'm enjoying all of your characters.

As long as we keep on coming back to it when we can, eventually we'll get done. I'm confident enough that I've been working on Tudan's build.
If you're curious:
Oracle has a dead level at 9th -- which would normally be okay due to receiving a feat, except that Tudan's level of barbarian means that he'd be character level 10th. So, I was looking around for something to dip into (preferably full BAB). Maybe another level of barbarian to never be flat-footed, or one in fighter for a feat.
Ranger fits his flavor and would add some more class skills, while the trapper archetype (from UM) would allow him to disarm magic traps. Since I made a shield build, holy vindicator would grant the ability to channel energy for a +5 sacred bonus to AC (until hit) that would scale with level / 2.

What does Elyin look like, and what was his role in the group? I don't even know his race and class. I also don't know what Kailah looks like; I've been imagining a fit country lass -- young and pretty, but not sophisticated -- and I have no idea how accurate that is.
Wild speculation:
I'm picturing Elyin as a human or half-elf urban ranger. We have a face and three casters -- but no full BAB characters, no skill monkeys, and no one with Knowledge (local) or Disable Device. If he has more than three ranger levels, then this implies that Elyin delayed his Favored Community, and put off forming a bond until whatever level he left our group and found Bellis; he just hadn't been anywhere yet that rang his bell. It would also help explain why he didn't come back to us.
If he's a half-elf over 3rd level, then maybe he multiclassed as a fighter, and just didn't reach ranger 3 until later. Either way, I bet that he had the Archery ranger combat style... since without him, the closest thing we have to a ranged specialist is the healer. ;)

Suggestion: in my experience, PbP combat goes smoother if the GM rolls initiative for everyone. Otherwise, even if everyone posts every day (and remembers to roll), it can take an extra day just to figure out what order everyone is in.
Hi guys, I drove into an unexpected cell-phone black spot the last few days. Tonight I'm heading into the bush overnight (first time carrying all my own food), and then tomorrow I have a pitch for Open Design to submit.

I suspose I should've broken down the mechanics of Sharadon before I went hurling magical spells of doom. I do feel a bit shamed that I could've saved so much trouble by using the rod, which is now going to be the first thing he retrieves once combat ensues!
Anyway, Tudan broke me down like a pro methinks. I art capable of 9d6+2 fireballs thanks to my combination of spell specialization, magical knack, and envoker specializing. In addition to that, I'm capable of spontaneously casting Scorching Ray's if the need arises (and I feel like devouring a 2-3rd level slot for the effort). Just to get that out there before I go doin' it.
But I did not know that you normally only pulled one trait from one type of background. I'll go about fixing that little issue-ma-bob.

I'm flying tonight to LA, spending a couple of days with friends there and then on to Seattle for PaizoCon. I don't know what access I'll have to the internet for about the next 10 days, and there will be lots of travel time. My posts may be even more sporadic than normal for the next 10 days until about the 12th July, which is when I arrive in the UK and get to my parent's house.
Right, done with PaizoCon and had an absolute blast. I'm now in the lounge at LAX ready to head to London. So by tomorrow night I'll be settled in one place for a few weeks and able to post again. Yay :)
