Its not really "They build stronger motors for stronger people" - its the same logic why a bionic arm does not grant a fughuge amount of strength:
You'd just totally rip it out of your own body because the rest of the body can't handle the counter forces of using that strenght.
Thus: more strength to handle the counter forces -> you can apply more strength using your enhanced motorized arm.
(And why I think wearing a walking tank is a good explanation why this mechanic isn't used for tech-marines =3)

The part about the bionic arm was actually stated... somewhere... I think I read it in the RT rulebook tho while building the shopping list for my magos there.

That is true, but since the manipulator mechadendrite wasn't created to break armor this knowledge probably was not applied to it I think =3

I like the idea for in-character play tho: "I inspect their armor for weak points" -> make a Trade (Armourer) roll and use your DoS as Pen as long as you have something that can viably penetrate those weak points - or something along those lines. Just throw it at the GM, we don't necessarily need to know those rules exist beforehand, just see what he comes up with x3

What kind of action is it to step away from the stubber and draw Simmins' Lasgun?

Then what kind of action is it change firing mode?


@Leni: That's a more ... realistic hand-wave xD
@Trade Armorer to identify weak spots / unknown weapon capabilities. That's totally a possibility. Although you would have to make a called shot (maybe with additional penalty according to the quality of the armor and its weak spot) to actually hit the identified weak spot ;-)

@Simmins: If you want to just leave your stubber where it is and draw your Lasgun, that's a half action. Mode switching is considered free. If you want to properly pack your stubber and then draw your Lasgun that's altogether a full round (half to stow the stubber, half for drawing the Lasgun)

As the whole party just has the wind knocked out of them due to artillery fire, Monia then, quite literally, steals their breath away right after while they try to recover.

Also, for the Mechadendrite vs Servo-Arm deal, one of them is specifically noted as being able to lift a rhino's side up and above the techmarines head so he can perform repairs on his own vs a Tech-Priest who would have Servo-Arm Servitors do that for them instead.

So, while the manipulator mechadendrite does seem to hit like a mechanical wet noodle, its not a giant space marine-grade mechanical arm that can rip through Terminator armour and Bulkheads if required.

So, at the very least, I'd give it a +1 to the users SBonus when making CC Attacks what with it being mechanical but still requiring the user to put their weight behind the blows.

Too, since it has pinchy claws at the end of it instead of being a giant vicegrip I'd probably give it rending damage instead?

Didn't know that I always counted simple succes -> 1 DoS. All heals from first aid should've probably been 1 point higher xP


I just looked it up.
My guts were right: This is another "hidden" change they made from DH/DW/RT to OW/BC!
In DW and earlier it still was "for every full 10 he scores another DoS" and the example clearly has no DoS for the initial result.

That makes me think about full/semi auto fire rules again ...
Full auto is clearly stated: "for every DoS one hit"
But semi-auto? "for the initial and every ADDITIONAL 2 DoS one hit"

Does this result to:
Hits @ 1 DoS, 2 DoS, 4 DoS, ... or
Hits @ 1 DoS, 3 DoS, 5 DoS, ...?

I like the first one more. Seems to fit with Burst-Mode shooting after all: the first couple of shoots of the burst are sticking close together, while the latter tend to drift away from the initial target.

1, 3, 5, etc is always how I've seen it done. That's how Accurate works as well.

Sorry, I've had a really bad week with family issues, and my depression has sent me on a downwards spiral, hopefully I'm through the worst of it, but I apologies for disappearing with no notice.

Regarding the mechadendrites, the FAQ document gives it a standard weapon statline which I assumed meant that it gains the standard strength bonus, but not the additional +20 which is just to strength based checks (which would not through a direct reading translate as damage rolls).

I'm not really expecting 'Phix to be a melee powerhouse, more relying on the defensive blade on her other 'dendrite to ward off at least some damage.

No problem at all, I can (and will) just bot players for a fair amount of time before giving up hope on a player who had proven him/herself (due to nice RP, frequent posting, making me laugh, ...)

Glad to have you back - don't force yourself just start slow after a bad time - that's important. We're aiming for a long campaign after all and this is only the pre-pre-prelude of it xD
We're pretty quick atm, so I may bot you during the rest of combat from time to time if it helps moving things forward quicker but that that does not mean in any way that you're no longer welcome :-)

The part about Str + mechandrite damage is what we settled on as well I think.


@Leni: It's set on local broadcast mode - that's just reading the setting (free action).

Lore: Imp. Guard +10:

Medium range (a couple of km), all imperial receivers will receive. Usually used for ad-hoc communication between units that are not expected to work together.
Like a high-altitude bomber squad and local infantry ;-)

@Simmins: This is your last clip, isn't it? Since clips are lost upon a jam, and you had 2 jams already ... just so you keep track.

@Ashora: Since your locked in melee you have two options to get away:
1: Just leg it (but the ork will get a free swing at you)
2: Take the Withdraw action, denying the Ork it's free swing but you can only move your half move distance (4m) rather than a run distance

Yeah, I want to just sprint away, hopefully that puts me beyond its charge range and I'll just risk the Free Attack. Withdraw only really works if you've got allies ready to robocop the thing or it's in melee with someone else.

Um I messed up. Didn't reload last round to get rid of jam instead Rebraced and fired. Didn't hit anything anyway but it was impossible to do. Is it possible to retcon that as a reload round?

Then this round Simmins will have just enough time to Rebrace and auto fire. Won't be able to suppressive fire.


Actually ... You could still suppress ... You will suffer -30 to fire the Stubber without bracing (mostly elimitating any chance to hit aj ork with it) but it is possible.
But we can go with the reloading last round for sure.
Your call if brace + full auto or suppressive mode without bracing for a total of +10-20-30+5=-35 xD

Also notice that the suppressive effect takes place whether you hit or not!

@Thud'dr: It's quite a distance from your pos to Doombringer so no melee. A quick guess would be 30-40m from your pos. The chimera is 'parked' near the bunker, so you have most of the trench between you and the Ork. But his position is elevated enough to allow targeting him from nearly everywhere! So go forth and show him your ripper :-)

Had an unpleasent clash with my parents the other day, so today was a a cool-down day. Update will come tomorrow :-)


@Leni: What resources do you use. (the Hospitaller 'tent', blood conserves, ...) and how many ad-hoc assistants do you recute?

Whether or not I use the tent depends on what 'Phix comes up with while I'm treating Ashora. I'd like to rely on her ingenuity to make something that does not just make for a safe and sterile work environment but something that actively helps. I have no Idea whether that's even possible but curious to see what happens =3

As for the assistants and ressources, give me a run down what troopers I still have available(I see them when I look around or they come crawling back towards the bunker now that the shooting stopped) and I'll put up a RP post about the treatment. The PC have all received something else to do(except Monia who was out and will get one in a few moments xP) but whether they follow it or demand to help is up to each one - only Phix is in acute danger to getting draftet if the vox mission is over quick enough - I have neither command authority nor the skill to shout them to do what I say x3


The trooper of the second trench trying to get away from the Ork will get to his feet eventually, as he was simply overrun by the Ork on his way to Ashora and the tank.
Otherwise you may be able to pull out a more or less alive soldier who was slightly submerged under debris inside the bunker.
Whats left of the southern ones will have to be ... collected and found first and are too shell shocked to be useful any time soon.

@Leni: Having Medicae and Medicae Auxilia I will allow you an easy (+10) Medicae test to field-quick-train an assistant. This will take a few minutes and counts as a 'trained' medical assistant (offering a +10 on medicae tests) as long as you are around to give him/her instructions.

@Monia: In fact your only out of it for a few seconds. And as long as most of the others around you nonetheless. One round is only 6s in this system after all.


Two little notes ahead:

1) I'm in 'vacation' from 5.June to 15. June. I will have mobile internet (at the very least maybe also wlan, but who knows). Posting may vary more than useful, from excessive to silence for a day or two depending on our activities.

2) I just started my master thesis which will run for six months - but I have no regular working hours on the other hand (my thesis is paid - thanks god for that) so all in all my pbp time should not change by much. Maybe as time gets sparse towards the end of the thesis I will have to slow/stop pbp for some time, but I will never vanish completely - my promise ;-)

On that note, I'm doing some traveling around Europe from June 19 to July 12 before my visa expires and I have to return to the US of A. I'll almost certainly be radio silent during that time. Luckily Ashora is an uncomplicated creature, so botting me should be a piece of cake!

Looking over Simmins character sheet, he gets Common Lore Imp and War Skills from both the Regiment and the Specialty. Does that give a bonus or anything?
