You may begin discussing how to spend that 1200 gold for buying supplies. Just a heads up though, you are basically smugglers for this mission. So the mission will entail solving problems either through brute force, diplomacy, or even guile and subterfuge. Equip yourself accordingly. You will be headed North to Falcon's Hollow via the back trails.

Male Human Paladin 3; HP 28; AC 15(tch 10,FL15);F+7,R+3,+ W+6;Init+0; Perc +1;

Understood.

Guys-I think the wagon and horses will be the big items. We can swing it with the money we have, but if we can get good deals so much the better

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

I think the wand of healing is the most pricey. Being a good size city it should be easy enough. What time of day is this? If we split for purchases to speed the process we had best pair the fighter types with the caster types and get moving. I would suggest that Lady Marianne head to a temple and bargain for the wand. Our friendly bard may be able to negotiate a fair price for the horses and wagon? Weapons and armor I think we have already covered. Food any of us can procure. Maybe we can even get it from Gill here at the tavern.

Your right. Horses are wicked expensive. What are we looking for? Heavy horses? That's as close to a draft horse as I see listed. Also what type of wagon do we want? Light Medium or Heavy?

The 1200 is what's left after the items on that list are purchased.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

LMAO we could hire 300 guards for 4 days with that! However we should probably purchase mounts for ourselves. That would be 126gp per for a light combat trained horse with bit/bridle, riding saddle and saddlebags.

male Halfling Bard 1[AC:15; FF:13; T:13 / F:+1, R:+5; W:+3/ Init: +2 / Perc: +6]

if it matters Fulito already has a pony for himself so no need to worry about any mount for him.

here is the shopping list as I can reckon:
medium wagon: 75 gp
2 heavy horses: 200 gp (to pull the wagon)
3 light horses: 225 gp
Bit/Bridles x5: 10 gp
saddles x3: 30 gp
feed 4 days x5: 1 gp
1 Campsite Kit: 12 gp*
Halfling trail rations x4: 8 gp
Dwarf trail Rations x4: 16 gp (2 dwarves)
Elf Trail rations x4: 8 gp
Human Trail Rations x4: 4 gp (2 people)(part of campsite kit)
5 gallons ale (for the dwarves): 1 gp
Travel cake mix x4: 0.4 gp (for my waffles)
Wand of Cure light: 750 gp

Total = 1261.4 gp

*items in a Campsite Kit:
4 bedrolls
4 blankets
1 day firewood
flint/steel
1 tindertwig
4 messkits
8 days trail rations

the special rations confer special benefits (see Ultimate equipment)
if we stick to standard trail rations then that will reduce the total price by 30 gp to become 1231.4 gp

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Oh Mr. Fancy with his high speed Ultimate Equipment lmao! I haven't even got to touch one yet haha. Sounds good to me though. Aside from a horse to keep up with the wagon Damaran is good to go.

Damaran, though you COULD hire 300 men with the money you should remember you are smugglers; subltlety is your ally. There is no way to hide an army that big. Nor could you move with any speed. As the note said, you need to get there fast. 300 men on foot wouldn't make it in time. That and you would move so slowly that the road agents would set up an ambush or 12 along the way. That and given the current political climate, you would have to pay each of those hirelings HANDSOMELY in order to keep their mouth shut. Otherwise more than a few of them would look to padding their purse by turning you in.

Fulito, that is an excellent list except you need not buy the wagon, horses, and bridles. They are already accounted for.

That would leave you with around 550 for other items that may be of assistance.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

No I was kidding about the men. I will be Han Solo with a sword lol

You've got the look for sure ... and the swagger.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Lets hope I can shoot first!

Doh! Like I said this is my first PbP...just noticed the different tabs for "discussion" and "gameplay" and all that....I was thinking things have been unually quiet since DM Krallek made his draft...facepalm!

Are we aware of which factions are out there? And by this I mean would we know which we are smuggling for and which we are in opposition to? I ask because a common practice of pirates and smugglers was to carry the colors of a multitude of factions, flying whichever was most beneficial under the circumstances. Perhaps we can achieve something like this through dress/banners/papers/something? I'm thinking that way if we get stopped we have more than one "out," or to simply avoid scrutiny in the first place.

Just .02 for me thoughts :)

God after days of typing like a dwarf, my language skills are slipping! Even when talking to my wife the "ye's, meselfs, 'o's, etc" are slipping out and I find myself having a hard time not typing like that! Oooh this would be a baaaaad habit to form haha!

male Halfling Bard 1[AC:15; FF:13; T:13 / F:+1, R:+5; W:+3/ Init: +2 / Perc: +6]

considering we are to be smugglers lets not really discuss the Ultimate equipment pdf I have.

man I am really spaced out tonight discovered the best new drink and already on the second or maybe third. already half through my bottle of 99 bananas liquer (liquor, lickour?) whatever .. it tastes good.

if you care to know its called banana-cream-pie-martini I may start sounding like a dwarf before to long.

Fulito is happy with the things he already has but he would love to get a masterwork harmonica if there were enough gold to spare.

anyway, Damaran--- Fulito owes you, you gave a generous donation to him for his performance and as such he feels that you desereve something in return. just haven't decided what yet. (do you like waffles?)

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Lmao try that when you go out to eat. "Hey! Bring me a mug o' ale and some fine wine fer me wife!

You bring up a good point. We should buy a load of trade goods to fill the wagon with. Something worthy of a few guards tho. Spices maybe? Idk about factions tho.

@Fulito I want waffles so bad now. I kinda hate you now hahaha The only ones I have have been frozen for like 6 months

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Lol. Did that drink come with a tampon Fulito? (I kid, I kid!) I honestly developed a taste for fruit flavored liquor this year...before that it was just Pabst Blue Ribbon by the case load lol...

Back on track...

Yeah I'm thinking we need a way to disguise our real cargo and purpose. If we knew of something around here that sells for cheap that can be sold at our destination for not so cheap...well all the better! At a minimum we need to all come up with a good story to tell if we get stopped along the road!

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Lol I'm not entirely sure what our cargo is? Did I miss that or is that what the weapons and armor are. Also I know there is trouble with trade. Is that ALL trade or just specific things. As far as a story goes I just don't see how six different ones would be a problem lol!

NM we have to meet the guy at a warehouse where we can pick it up. We can get more details and make a story and decide if we need forged papers there. I think we should collect the items on the list and go there to learn more. IMHO

male Halfling Bard 1[AC:15; FF:13; T:13 / F:+1, R:+5; W:+3/ Init: +2 / Perc: +6]

As far as Fulito is concerned he would play that by ear on what to say if stopped. He is a bard of oppurtunity so to speak. never fully planning for the future just moving along with a song and some dreams.

take on each obstacle as in comes before us.

I hope to chronicle the exploits of this crew and publish them in the hope that he may become one of the famed Pathfinder Chroniclers

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

FYI Damaran is so going to hold Fulito to those waffles.

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

I would suggest that the best value for our left over 1200gp at this stage is to pump AC as high as it can go without hurting move speed. Half Plate would give Staryth +3 AC, and chainshirts would up Damaran, Gil, and Fulitos by one a piece. I was goig to suggest scrolls, but there just aren't that many first level ones I feel are essential - pro vs evil in case someone gets enchanted maybe magic weapon. A few alchemists fire would be good to, had too many bad experiences at low level with swarms to go without it willingly.

which is why we really need those traveling cake mixes

about swarms: have you thought of Vermin Repellant. makes the swarm avoid you

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

Is that in the allowed sources for this game though? And even if it is it still does not seem very efficient, the vermin get a save, you need to apply it, so must either know you will be facing a swarm in advance or do it while in close proximity, and it won't protect your allies or get rid of the swarm. Alchemists fire will hurt the swarm and a few vials will solve the problem for you and your party. Seems more efficient to buy the alchemists fire which also works on other things.

male Halfling Bard 1[AC:15; FF:13; T:13 / F:+1, R:+5; W:+3/ Init: +2 / Perc: +6]

ok, just a thought. sorry i brought it up.

hey lets sing a song?...no? ... Ok

seriously though Fulit could due well with the chain shirt but if money becoms a problem then Fulito would be the first to give it up.
I would much rather equip our warriors first.

Andoran

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

No need to be sorry, being aware of items is nice, but sadly not all do what they say on the tin is all :) I am with you on the warriors first, and though Marianne is a warrior, she is very much a back up warrior with her reach weapon suited for hiding behind dwarven defensive bulkwarks say ;)

I'm loving the cake mix.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Agreed Fulito, no need to be sorry for having a good idea! I was just joking about the Equipment book. I want one myself!

It would probably be a good idea to keep a good amount of that money to grease the occasional wheel. Bribery is always good.

If you choose to sell anything of your current gear you will fetch half its book value for it in trade. And we don't need to roleplay out the shopping. I hate shopping in real life so role playing it would kill me. Just let me know what you bought and who is carrying what. Please add it to your equipment lists too.

Male Human Paladin 3; HP 28; AC 15(tch 10,FL15);F+7,R+3,+ W+6;Init+0; Perc +1;

*L* I was wondering. Truth, keeping track of all the inventory and shopping willy nilly is not my favorite part of the game either :)

I'm happy to go with Mariane's lead on this

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

I agree with Staryth after sleeping on it. I think we should keep "extra" purchases to a minimum. At least for now. I feel like that extra money may be for something else. I would like to continue with what I have for now. Besides we can always use it later for really good stuff!

Andoran

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

Jeggrim are you wearing armor? The version of your character sheet I've found does not seem to have you doing so and I know you described yourself as naked to the waist. Dwarf Slayer influence I'm guessing, used to have a Slayer only army back in the day, and was a big fan of Gotrek and Felix.

But going armorless is going to really hurt mechanically, in rage your AC is 10, And while barbarians really aren't made for AC thats a bit scary. Perhaps a hide shirt, which could styalistically look like a number of straps of hide instead of a single piece? Or if you really want to stick with the naked look I'd suggest we pick up a few scrolls of Mage Armor for when we know we are going into danger, its invisible, but we'll have to get Damaran to UMD it, but since he needs to roll a 14 to do so it might take him a few attempts, luckily it has an hour duration.

So I propose we buy the following...

Chainmail for Stayth, since I forgot his dex bonus previously - costing 125gp after we sell his armor back.
Chainshirts for Fulito, Damaran, and Gil costing 270gp after we sell their armor.
Either a hideshirt or four scrolls of Mage Armor for Jeggrim for 100gp (90 if he is okay with the shirt).
Masterwork Harmonica for Fulito for 100gp.
4 scrolls of Enlarge Person (if Damaran is willing to cast it or 2 potions if not) 100gp
Scroll of Protection vs Evil x 2 50gp
Alchemist Fire x4 100gp
And maybe upgrade Fulito and Gil's chainshirts to masterwork to lower their armor check penalties for 300gp.
And two divine scrolls of Shield for Marianne - for really tough fights so I can pump her AC - for 50gp.
And 5gps worth of Hemp Rope which is 250 feet.

Andoran

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

If you have extra money at the beginning of the game you really are better off spending it IMO, simply because getting to better types of armor is hugely more cost effective than buying magic items to up your AC. For 1200gp we are getting +8 to AC for the party overall, that will likely save a lot of charges on the wand of healing and could potentially save lives.

Most groups want to carry scrolls of protection from evil and alchemists fire which are vital when you need them, and Fulito was certainly going to purchase a MW harmonica at some point. Enlarge Person is brilliant for the dwarves and Marianne and will serve us well in tough fights giving them reach and upping damage significantly.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Sounds fine to me. I'm not much on crunch myself lol Once we get the go ahead from the group we should head on over to that warehouse.

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

Lol, I normally play wizards, I've always enjoyed the book keeping aspect of the game in a sort of nerdy way :)

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

This is only my third foray into wizardry in 17 years lol I'm a stick 'em, smash 'em, slash 'em player with 80 percent of that being some form of dwarf character hahaha

male Halfling Bard 1[AC:15; FF:13; T:13 / F:+1, R:+5; W:+3/ Init: +2 / Perc: +6]

Don't forget the waffle mix! But Fulito can buy that with his own money (he just recently earned 8 shiney new gold coins.)

Also the Harmonica is "nice to have" item I don't consider it a needed item I would rather let Fulito purchase his own with is own money when he gets it.

Andoran

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

But its an item you would buy anyway, and I can't think of anything else that seem really important to have on hand. You might as well have something that makes your perform checks better rather than us have 100gp sitting in our purses doing nothing, or even getting stolen.

Marianne, you are indeed correct. I have no armor on :) A bit of dwarf slayer influence mixed with Wulfgar mixed with Conan mixed with Thidbbledorf Pwent I suppose would be my inspiration lol.

As for not wearing armor, it really came down to a "stylistic" choice as well as "crunch." I took the Brutal Pugilist archetype from the APG and they get better bonus if unarmored...

Although looking at the rules again, abilities dependent on being armorless don't come into play until 3rd level. I suppose I could rock some hide until then. As interesting as someone UMDing some mage armor on me is, I don't want to force anyone to babysit me. Thats no fun for anyone. I'll get some hide armor or something. I have plenty of starting gold left so I'll just buy it myself.

Lastly, I'll try and figure out how you all added your character sheets to your profile and do the same! Sorry for making you search it out! I'll fix that a bit later today when I have the chance.

Andoran

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

Just click on your picture of Jeggrim' and it should take you through to a largely blank page that has the words create a profile, just click that and paste your sheet there.

so do we have a final list of purchases yet? I'm keen to get started here. 8)

@Jeggrim, to add in your player sheet

1. Log into your paizon acct if you have not already done so
2. then click your name at the top of the screen
3. then click the alias tab (you may also want to bookmark the campaigns tab or set as a homepage or whatever so you can quickly get back to that page)
4. then click on the name under your avatar picture
5. then on the right click 'edit my profile'

Most of the boxes imho on that form are a waste of time filling in. I usually just fill in the Full Name box.

Then I fill in the classes/levels box with your important details like current hp, ac, fort, ref, will, initiative, and perception.

then at the box on the bottom labelled "about jeggrim" is where you should paste all the details about your character.

Male Human Paladin 3; HP 28; AC 15(tch 10,FL15);F+7,R+3,+ W+6;Init+0; Perc +1;

Female Human Cleric 1 (HP 14/14; AC 20, Touch 12, Flatfooted 18; Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7; Init +8; Perception +4; Channel Energy 5/5)

It's helpful to put some information, such as AC init bonus, saves and perception mod in the class line for easy reference to.

While we are talking about loot, how are we going to divide it? I've always preferred keeping a tally of items sale values and ensuring everyone gets an even cut.

So say we had found a chainshirt and a MW dagger, with a total value of 402gp, that's a sale value of 201gp. So each player is entitled to 50.25gp. But since it is much better value to keep loot than sell lets assume that 2 characters each take one item, call them player A and Player B.

Player A takes the dagger sale value 151gp, and "owes" the group 100.75gp
Player B takes the chainshirt sale value 50gp and is owed .25gp
Player C takes nothing and is owed 50.25gp
Player C takes nothing and is owed 50.25gp

Just a siggestion, but I've found its typically the fairest way - sometimes its better to put in an extra split for party items like wands of cure light, etc. In which case everyones share would be 40.2gp.

Thoughts? Its pretty flexible, since people don't usually mind you owing the pot if something comes up thats perfect for you, etc. And its particularly good for classes, like the druid, that don't run into equipment for them as often - though I doubt thats relevant here.

If two people want the same item, you simply roll off - or you can bid for it, but I think rolling is simpler and easier.

Male Human Magus/1 HP: 10/10 AC: 16 or 20 Initiative: +3 Fort: +3 Ref: +3 Will: +2

Yeah I have always just given needed items to whoever needed it and coin gets split up. I really don't much care for counting pennies. If someone needs it they can have it best armor or weapons to melee scrolls spells to cleric/ arcane respectively etc.
