Kellic steps warily into the room with his fists primed and ready for action. At first nothing much happens. The pools of water on the floor remain calm. As soon as Kellic approaches the north pool, a pair of amphibious eyes pop up above the surface of the murky pool ever so briefly just before a gigantic green maw opens up and surges upward towards to grab Kellic's arm. Pixie, the mute bard, silently screams a warning that sounds like this ...
Pixie: " "
... and then in one fluid motion he raises his short bow, knocks an arrow, and lets fly a shot and the giant green beast in the murky pool. Byron notices that his arrow is almost as effective as his warning ... shout? But the arrow does manage to distract the frog enough such that it doesn't grab the monks arm.
Kellic, seeing the danger he is in, quickly recovers and tries to punch the frog in one of its bulging eye sockets. He managed to land the blow but the slick coating on the frog's skin causes the blow to slide off with no effect.
Vulgar, seeing the danger his friend is in, steps in and hammers a blow to the head of the frog with his axe. The frog's head explodes in a shower of green slimy ichor and as the beast slumps lifelessly back into the murky pool, Kellic gives the dwarf an relieved and thankful nod.
The group starts poking about and looking through the murky pools. Most of you don't turn up much but Byron manages to find some ruble at the bottom of one of the pools and after feeling about in the debris he finds what feels like a wooden stick. Unfortunately it is kind of stuck. The stick is stuck.
Ok, I will move things along here as we are getting a little stale. After much deliberation the party decides that the magic stick they found belongs in the hands of the monk. The four of you then head back to the stairwell and proceed up to the top of the flight of stairs. At the top you don't come out to a landing like before but rather the stairs end at a trap door above you. It is currently closed.
I feel bad were not participating as often as we were earlier, however I commend you for trying to keep in on life support, but we might have to pull the plug...we'll see
Byron attempts to gently push the trapdoor upward and realizes that it isn't locked but it is really heavy. One person of average strength can certainly open the thing but opening it quietly is going to be a chore. If it is as heavy as it seems, then when it opens it will likely do so with a resounding BOOM! as it slams open on the floor above you.
Well fellas, I can open this door, but it will alert all of whatever is up there on the other side of it. I'll be happy enough to open the door if you three are happy enough to make ready then storm through it and meet whatever is up there head on.
That is if there is enough room for them to pass by the door opener in this hallway.
Listen pal...how are we gonna storm a trap door above our heads? Lift me up with a rope attached to me waist, I'll go in and finds a spot to tie the rope off, wind it around some heavy boxes or simply pull you up one at a time...unless there are some baddies up there, in which case I'll kill them all and then let ya up...HARRR!!
