Loot Tracker Current Map

Signing off for tonight.

Tomorrow will be a light-posting day for me. I'll check in periodically, but I won't be living on the boards like I am while I'm working.

HP 29/29; CMD 21/17; AC 20/14/16 F:+6 R:+3 W:-3

Severus: Go ahead and move yourself on the map to a space between you and Samson and mark your action as completed. It looks like you can't go more than 10 feet before you get to him so no actual bonus for charging but you don't need it anyway.

"Well my large friend, it seems as if the blue ogre is in charge. You could always ask him, but..." Chess's words dwindle off thoughtfully. "Right then. I'll see you in the arena, fight well, large one." The dark elf strides over to Big Blue and extends the wand out to him, his attention partially on the ogre and partially on the fight. There is no bravado or charm, nor any reverence or fear, just simple action.

Just wanted to bump this, since it seems to have been lost in the melee. Thanks for running this Doomed, and for your help Gwrr! The game is already shaped up to be fantastic, and we're only in our prelude.

^ +1 - I second that Chessna'ra. Very Cool DM Doomed Hero.

A quick heads up. I'll be traveling overseas on the start date so if you need to keep Joboo out of the first match to keep things running smoothly its completely understandable. I'll have my PC with me just wont be able to get back online until the 22nd or so.

Gwrrr'rrr walked over to the prone alchemist, and poked him with his boot to make sure he was really out. The orc meandered over to Zib's workstation, and took a tentative sniff of the bubbling mutagen.

He shrugged and poured the mutagen down his gullet, without bothering to taste it first.

I knew someone was going to mess with it :P Its only now that i thought of maybe trying a craft check (with dm permission) to make it explode if anyone touched it :P oh well, there's going to be one unhappy gnome when he awakens...

The 22nd is only a day after the fight starts. Odds are you won't miss much. Maybe one round, if that. I'll just use my magical GM powers to let you automatically delay your action from wherever you start in the initiative order.

Thanks for the heads up about your trip though.

Ok, I think that's enough for the training fights for now. I think I learned what a I needed to about how to keep things on track, and what to point out to people.

I think everyone who needed to has been able to practice the format I'm looking for. Does anyone feel like they still don't get it?

There are a few of you who seem to have a little trouble with reading comprehension. I'm not pointing anyone out and I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just going to shotgun blast this at everyone-

There will be about 15 of you, running around and swinging at each other. I can juggle this but I need your help, and I need you to pay careful attention to how I set the scene and to everyone else's actions.

Every match will have a different set of perameters and rules. This time the rules were "no weapons, no armor". It will never be that simple again. Failure to comply with the rules will likely result in disqualification of your character.

Does anyone have any questions or suggestions before we get started?

Will there be punch and pie?

(btw, just making sure I establish myself as a heel in gameplay, don't mind me...)

This would be me mostly you are referring to. For that I apologize, as I never did remove my gear in character, and the fight started very suddenly. I will try harder! I will read better!

I take my lumps though.

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

Sounds good, sorry about being a little pain with the whole lets blow people up thing :P I do have a question, if a character dies our we out or can we come in with a replacement? I ask this cause I have a feeling Zib wont survive long...he doesnt have the common sense to not back talk the big surly ogre :P I already have a back up character floating around in my head of a dumb as nails dwarf invulnerable rager barbarian named Durgen, who loves a good fight(he doesnt so much as rage as get excited to hit people) I have built him and hes starting with 20 hp at level one...

Loot Tracker Current Map

Replacement characters are just fine.

In fact, anyone who thinks they can handle it is welcome to run more than one character, or to introduce back up characters now (and just keep them out of the spotlight until they're needed)

The upcoming match can handle up to 18 contestants. That means up to 4 more.

New submissions need to go through recruitment though. Let's not muddy up this thread with build discussions.

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

Cool I will introduce Durgen once i have made a alias for him :P

HP 29/29; CMD 21/17; AC 20/14/16 F:+6 R:+3 W:-3

Not really trying to fight right now, but if a knockout is the only way to end it, so be it...

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

sorry, if i survive the next round i will pull back.

HP 29/29; CMD 21/17; AC 20/14/16 F:+6 R:+3 W:-3

Well I mean, you know, roleplay what you want. At this point I tried to back out, you're driving the bus now. I could run twice as fast as you but I can't figure out why I would run away (stop fighting, sure, but run away?). :) We are now in melee again, and I punched the air pretty hard.

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

Lol, I think Zib is satisfied, be burned you a bit, thats all he wanted to do all day, with the pyro side placated, he might come a something close to sanity, at least temporarily

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

This is amusing me a lot. I set it up like a reality tv show, and it looks like that's exactly what I'm getting.

Zib, your action economy is fine. You might look into the Accelerated Drinker trait. Between that and a Potion Belt (non-pathfinder item that I allow which lets you count as having quickdraw for the potions in it), it'll help boost your efficiency. (It'll cost you though, so it might need to wait for a match or two.)

HP 29/29; CMD 21/17; AC 20/14/16 F:+6 R:+3 W:-3

Lorth: You should be healed full, Big Blue channeled before he left.

HP 78/78, AC 25/12/23, Saves 11/5/14

Edited my action to suit being back to full and jogging.

One suggestion I'd have when the bouts start is to have the specific arena rules for that fight listed in spoiler in the character thread on the opening DM / Big Blue post. That will make it easier to track down and reference for everyone.

I've found it difficult to track all the information given that there has been a spread between the game thread, discussion thread and then everything quantitative is hidden away by spoiler.

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

I already have the trait but i need to be hold the potion at the start of my turn, the potion belt is something I will want.

I plan on listing all the current arena rules and goals in the campaign info tab, as well as doing a big stage-setting intro to each fight coming from the "sports commentators".

Is that kind of what you had in mind?

HP 78/78, AC 25/12/23, Saves 11/5/14

Pretty much - just with the stage-setting intro post including the specific rules for the fight at hand. Something like:

Rumble in the Jungle:
4 players per team
Last team standing wins
No armor allowed and everyone must hop on one leg

(HP 16/16, AC 12 CMD 12, Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +5)

DM DH, can I change my Magical Lineage trait from Ray of Enfeeblement to Frostbite?

Male Drow Noble Dawnflower Dervish (Bard) 1

Doomed, I seem to have acquired a wand of Cure Moderate Wounds, seeing as our friendly neighborhood ogre hasn't decided to accept it back, I was wondering if it hand any charges left in it.
I also may be submitting a character. What are your thoughts on summoner's? Are they able to summon their Eidolons before a round starts? The one minuet summoning time means it wouldn't be a good idea to do in the middle of battle, so before I go ahead and pursue said idea, I was curious as to how you'd be handling the great beasts from other planes.

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

Lorth, yep, pretty much exactly what i had in mind.

Mel, go ahead.

Chess, 'fraid not. It's a training aid. You won't get to keep in in the ring.

Regarding summoners, yes, you'll always start with it pre-summoned, but depending on the match there may be restrictions and I may ask you to design it's evolutions a certain way to have it fit the confines of the contest. (no flying, etc)

HP 17/18, AC 18/14/13 CMD 17, Fort +1, Ref +7, Will +0,

Hullo all. Practice fight seems like a good learning moment for all of us. I'll finish reading that topic to see what's good and what wasn't too good haha.

@DM Doomed Hero (should be: Doomed DM tbh): I'll change some minor stuff for Lorn (skillpoint here, equipment there, nothing shocking) as you seem to be ok with that.

Male Elf Magus 2

sorry. got immensely busy unexpectedly. I'm pulling out. Hope to actually try PBP sometime. urgh.

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

You can always join us at a later date Tomas

Loot Tracker Current Map

Muscle Wizard and other newcomers we are using Past Tense for this game. please write future posts in that format. If you haven't yet, please take a look at the rules and guidelines in my GM Avatar.

Male Drow Noble Dawnflower Dervish (Bard) 1

Tried to build a second character again, and once more, the board wiped him when I tried to save a good hour of work formating the darned thing. *frustrated sigh* I'm taking it as a sign that I should just stick with Chess for now.

HP 29/29; CMD 21/17; AC 20/14/16 F:+6 R:+3 W:-3

Chess: I always copy from herolab's stat dump into a text file, and keep the text file locally with my edits to cut and paste into my profile. Makes it a lot easier.

Male Drow Noble Dawnflower Dervish (Bard) 1

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably be a bit more thoughtful with backing up my work in the future, but such is life. Valuable life lesson traded for an hour of my time.

HP 14/20, AC 17 T 17 FF 10, CMD 23, Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +5,

Also if I am filling out a sheet like that I save often and before I save I do a Ctrl-A to select and and Ctrl-C to copy all the text so if it fails I can just repaste

Samson The Gray wrote:

I have to ask Chess, your avatar looks extraordinarily female, is this intentional are you androgynous? Or is that just the most approximate avatar they had?

A little of both, to answer your question. I've always imagined drow males (and really all elves) as being rather androgenous on average, and this character in particular fits the bill in my mind.

Male Changeling Fighter 1, Monk 1, Rogue 1, Ranger 1, Actor 5

Chess, I tend to copy everything in the text box before I post, every single time. The Paizo boards are *notorious* for eating people's work.

Another suggestion is to write things up in simpletext and copy over when you're done. I do this for long posts. I tend to write them elsewhere, copy over, post , and then edit for formatting.

I've added a current match roster to Big Blue's avatar. Please take a look to make sure you're on the list.

There are 16 slots for the first match. If we get more people before tomorrow night I'll be asking for volunteers from those of you playing two characters to have one of them sit the match out.

Tomorrow night I'll announce the teams.

HP 22/22, AC 17/11 T/16 FF, CMD 16, Fort +9, Ref +5, Will +6

I posted this in the recruitment thread, but posting here as well. Is it too late to join? My bro is the guy playing the winter witch and he told me about this campaign. Sounds awesome. I basically just have to do equipment and the "dice" macros, and I'm good to go.

Two week training montage coming tomorrow night after the submission deadline. Until then you guys get to RP.

HP 20/20 AC 15 CMD 15 Fort+5 Ref+2 Will+3

Sounds good. I will be sure to have alias polished by then.

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

I have a question, for crafting how will you go about that? Once I get the money I plan n crafting a lot of things(poison taken from this list if allowed, let me know if there's any you dont want me to make and use, i plan on getting darts to administer the poison. Also are we in a barracks or do we get personal rooms? I want to get a alchemy lab(once i have the gold} for another +2 to alchemy, but if we are in a communal area Zib will try to trap it(either using craft alchemy somehow or take point in craft trap at somepoint)

1) Most alchemical items will be fine, but unfortunately most Poisons are going to be against the rules. Not very "sporting". An inhaled poison would be fine, administered in a bomb of choking gas or something like that, but contact or injury poison doesn't have the spectacle factor. You can elect to break the rules, of course, but there will probably be an investigation and any victories you earn will be overturned.

2) Everyone gets their own small room, except for the prisoner characters, who are kept in a small prison facility in the stable grounds.

Loot Tracker Current Map

zib:
the bomb in food thing sounds fine. It would essentially be a very easy Trap to make. Failed perception check on the target's part gives a penalty to the save to avoid/reduce damage when it blows

Durgen:
I think I'm going to have to leave you out. I thought I wasn't going to have enough to fill out the 16 I wanted. Now it looks like I might have too many.

HP 22/22, AC 17/11 T/16 FF, CMD 16, Fort +9, Ref +5, Will +6

Hey, I wanted to do a comparison with the "other" paladin, and noticed that Samson has a 23 pt build. I thought I was supposed to be the cheater! ;)

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

Thats fine for Durgen, for the crafting im fine with the using inhaled poison, I am assuming it works by having a vial and throwing to a square and it smokes up that area(doesnt say how inhaled works other than that its a cloud. Also teh inhaled choices are really expensive/high dc, i was wondering is i added say 3-5 to the craft dc if i can make a injury poison into a inhaled poison)

edit: also for the explosive fruit; since my regular bombs have to be made the round i throw them would okay to use the rules for making alchemist fire maybe with a slightly higher dc for putting it in the fruit? and what would the dc/penelty for not a bomb?

double edit to clarify when i say add to the dc i mean only the craft dc not the save dc

Male Gnome Alchemist(Grenadier) 1

If your not a huge fan of the poison stuff I could go the grenadier archtype, I almost went with it to begin with except I hate that it replaces brew potion with a martial weapon which i felt wasn't worth it given how easy it is to get proficiency in your game. If i can keep brew potion I could will take the archtype

Loot Tracker Current Map

Zib Go ahead and keep brew potion. I realize not being able to effectively employ poison is a nerf, so I'm fine with the switch.

Samson Please re-check your point buy.

Male Elf Alchemist (Clone Master/Preservationist)

Whew, just finished catching up on everything in a super reading binge. Checking in here, will do so in gameplay in a sec

Training Montage Time!

For the next two days I want to see bits and pieces. Slices of life.

No need for real dialogue, just throw away lines that give us the gist of what you're feeling and why. Curse at people, describe how you're learning the bonus feats you've been given, form friendships and rivalries (pick someone to describe helping, or hurting. You don't need their permission). Think of this like an 80s fight movie power ballad training sequence. I just want the important pieces.

The one of you who gives me the most fun bit to read will start with a small bonus in the upcoming match.

Here's some inspiration

and a little more

imagine your post is just one bit in the montage, one of those short clips that show what you're going through over the next two weeks.

Using "..." at the beginning and end of your post will make it seem like it's been lifted out of something longer and add to the feel of what I'm looking for.

Feel free to add in something like an excerpt out of an interview with Bandy as well, where you're "talking to the camera" about who you are and what you're feeling. If you think of it like one of those shows where they overlay an interview with clips of someone training to give you an idea of who the athletes are, you'll get the idea.
