"BAH! Lotslegs should be 'fraid of LICKTOAD HEROES!" She flexes to make her point. "But being safe. Maybe we convince Slorb to come with? He make good Lotslegs snack while Heroes run bravely away."
Some Random Goblin |
Chuffy nods enthusiastically, then stops and smacks himself in the forehead.
"That sound like good plan... but if Slorb get eaten, who left to pick up Chief...? Us? I no want *that* job!"
Draga, of the mist |
The dawn marks the beginning of your important quest, and you are once again assembled before Chief Gutwad. "Get fireworks and bring them here to me." he instructs you, through Slorb. "Take these, to help."
Slorb presents a final stash of goodies to help you on your way - the remaining fireworks from Scribbleface’s stash!
Paper Candle: This finger-sized explosive detonates noisily 1 round after lighting. Anyone in the same square as a paper candle when it explodes must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be dazzled for 1d4 rounds.
Skyrocket: When lit, this foot-long wooden tube begins to shake and emit a handful of white sparks, shedding light as a torch. One round later it takes flight, moving in a straight line with a fly speed of 90 for 1d6 rounds before loudly exploding in an burst of light and sound, dealing 2d6 points of fire damage in a 10-foot burst (DC 15 Reflex save for half ). If a skyrocket impacts a solid surface or a creature before reaching its maximum range, it detonates prematurely at the point of impact. Anyone who takes damage from the explosion is either blinded or deafened (a 50% chance of either) for 1 round.
Those goblins who can stir themselves from their drunken stupor cheer with varying degrees of enthusiasm for the departing heroes. More that a few cover their ears or cradle heads that now pay the price for the previous night's revelry.
The journey to the fireworks stash, as indicated on the map, is relatively short—a slog not quite a mile-long through the swamp along the creek’s southern bank. The marsh itself is relatively difficult to navigate, however. With numerous stretches of deep water that must be skirted and thick tangles of stinging nettles, every small stretch of ground requires extra effort to traverse.
Marching order?
Poog The Magnificent |
"Poog heard about Sandypoint once.." The cleric shivers, remembering something about a bunch of longshanks.
Reta up front? No preference about anything else. Or Chuffy for all the traps? If there are traps.
Eben's Circus |
Yep, Reta and Chuffy up front is good with me. If we feel scouting is useful, Chuffy can be out front. If scouting isn’t likely to get us anything, Reta will be happy to run point.
”Hmm… not want to lift Gutwad. Good thinkings, Chuffy.” She dismisses the thought, brightening at the thought of the adventure ahead. ”So what we waiting for, anyway? Much fun to be had! Fiiiiirreewwwooooorrrrkkkkkssssss!”

As you make your way through the murky mess, something stands out... an unmistakeable crunch from the trees ahead. You all immediately spot the source of the sound - a horrible mass of eyes and legs and mandibles, feeding on what you can only guess is the dessicated corpse of what was once a goblin. The arrival of a fresher meal immediately grabs the attention the giant spider - you are facing the terror of the marsh, a nightmare of chitin known to even the smallest Licktoad goblin: Lotslegs Eat Goblin Babies Many!

”LOTSLEGS! RETA NOT ‘FRAID OF NOTHIN’!”
Reta—not ‘fraid of nothin’—dashes forward and around Lotslegs before lunging in (creating a flank opportunity for Chuffy). Then, with a squealy battlecry, tries to jam Gutwad’s dogslicer into Lotslegs’s’s chitinous flank.

I'll fix my stats asap, its ANZAC day today/tomorrow and I need to get up early for the Dawn service, so I'll handle it as soon as events allow.
Mormurch really, really wishes he could throw a BOOM BOOM at creepy legs and hitting "Talk Talk" Reta would be a bonus but Creepy Legs seemed happy munching on Reta and Mormurch was happy for this to remain the case. If he killed Reta, then Creepy Legs might turn his attention to HIM.
That said, he wasn't going to stand here like a LITTLE GIRL like Reta, roaring a battle cry ("TOADS") he charges (flavor, not the actual maneuver) into the melee, swinging his club.

This is the first I’ve ever heard of ANZAC day (you learn something new every day), but have fun. And good on ya? (I used to have an Australian friend who used that terms semi-frequently … hopefully it’s used appropriately here.) :)
Draga, of the mist |
Morgmurch charges the the giant spider bravely, his club making a solid thunk against the creature's hard carapace. 1 point non-lethal damage
Chuffy moves into flanking position, but likewise has trouble with the spider's hard shell.

”AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH LOTSLEGS NO BITE!” Reta screams as the poison courses through her veins. Her goblin nature begs her to flee, but Reta not ‘fraid of nothin’—or at least she wants her smaller brethren to believe it—so she stabs again.

Reeling from another crack in her hard skin, Lotslegs skitters out of the mass of goblins and lobs a mass of webs at her only real threat so far - the one with the swollen, delicious head. Tiny spinnerets of silky web accumulate rapidly on the goblin, trapping her in a tangled webby net.

Reta is entangled. A strength check or Escape Artist check (both DC12) required to free yourself.

Full of bravado, Poog runs to a better position to blast the spider with fire again. He briefly considers burning the webs off of Reta, but thinks better of it (for now).

Draga, of the mist |
Skittering backwards, Lotslegs Eat Goblin Babies Many tumbles in a rattling heap of broken carapace! The giant spider heaves one last time before coming to rest forever in the muck of the marsh.
Poog The Magnificent |
Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
"We are best warriors of Licktoads! LotsLegs scare us and eat us no more!" Poog dances around, chanting to Zarongel.
LotsLegs big, LotsLegs scary,
Fangs are sharp and legs so hairy,
Him ate many goblin babies,
Could we kill him? No say maybe!
Then fight and then we win,
LotsLegs never eat again!
Blessed fire from Zarongel,
Send old LotsLegs straight to--
Poog trips on a stray spider leg and ends his song with a shriek before realizing LotsLegs is still dead. "Poog was just reenacting fight," he says with a surly tone.
Eben's Circus |
As Chuffy makes a hat and Poog scampers and croons, Reta screams in frustration.
Str check, DC 12: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (16) - 4 = 12 - BOOYAH!
… ripping herself free of the webbing and wildly rolling a few feet into the bushes before coming to a halt.
”HA!" she laughs as she emerges, wiping the remaining binding strands from her arms and legs, "Lotslegs not so tough!”
Thrilled with Chuffy’s ingenuity, and wanting a prize for her own, Reta scampers over and begins looking for a prize. First, she tears out a mandible, jamming it into her raggedy belt like a knife. Then, she begins trying to rip/cut a chunk of its carapace away. When it peels disgustingly free, she flings it wildly about to clear what Lotslegs goop from it as she can before holding it in front of her like a shield.
What are the chances we could fashion a crude shield out of its hide? :D
(I’m guessing PFS has our hands tied here, but even if it’s not legally possible, I’m acting like it is.)
Then she looks over at Poog, ”Zarongel fix Reta for more killing!”
As she waits, she inspects Lotslegs—as well as whatever it was the spider was eating—for shinies.

IMO, he mandible could easily pass for an improvised weapon, but the shield would only be flavor.
Base Damage: 1d4-2 (x2)

Works for me. It just seemed like something Reta would do.
Poog The Magnificent |
Poog nods solemnly and pulls out his wand of healing for Reta.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He then shakes the wand, frustrated, and tries again.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

"LotsLegs left tracks---it went this way before. Look," Poog points out the marks left by the spider in the marshy ground. "Maybe it lead to treasure, or maybe to goblin baby bones."
Eben's Circus |
After a quick dance to ensure her full recovery, Reta drops into a low stance ... following her nose along Poog's discovered trail like a hound on the hunt.
Follow the tracks... to find treasure or food!

Eben's Circus |
Still on the hunt, Reta hiss-shouts over at Chuffy, "reta not 'fraid no nothin'!"
Draga, of the mist |
Reta bravely leads our goblin foursome in the direction Poog indicates. The marsh seems to darken as the canopy thickens with webs and dead branches, animal carcasses, and upon the ground - bones! Some are obviously goblin skeletons, once-green flesh mummified upon them. A few longshanks' bones, and even those of the halfling not-so-longshanks complete the macabre decoration. Beyond them lies a dark web-encrusted pit, leading down into the root system of a massive leaning tree.
Draga, of the mist |
The lair of Lotslegs Eat Goblin Babies Many is littered with the dessicated corpses of various creatures, just as above. A dim green light illuminates the hovel, a strange glowing lichen underlaying the webbed walls. Additionally, the space is filled with tiny round balls, made of the same delicate material as the webs which layer the walls and floor. These egg sacs preserve future generations of Lotslegs’ line - thousands, if not millions of potential offspring. Beyond that, a thorough exploration of the lair shows no other inhabitants.
Mogmurch Goblin |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Mogmurch looks at the line of eggs in the pit with loathing. "Mogmurch BURN BURN?", he suggests helpfully, as he casts his eyes around the large space, searching for any treasure.
EDIT
His searching is rewarded, and he utters a cry of glee upon spotting Lotslegs stash. Tucking the pearl away, he immediately draws his allies attention to the collection of items, and starts dividing up each portion.
Some Random Goblin |
Chuffy casts his eye over the loot, quickly glancing past the potions (since he doesn't know what they are), and grabbing the crossbow and the bolts. He also quickly claims his share of the gold, and of the taffy, chewing his piece with obvious gusto.
Poog The Magnificent |
Poog takes the scrolls and the curative potions. "Reta, you take the strong potion," he says gruffly.
He scans the eggs. "Poog wonder when they hatch. We burn them or we squish them, then take them back to chief and eat them," he says, as thoughtfully as a goblin does.
Eben's Circus |
*YOINK*
The strong potion disappears down Reta’s bodice with amazing alacrity, eyeing the many, many spider babies around them.
”Reta say we eats thems all right now. Then we be LICKTOADS HEROES EATS SPIDER BABIES MANY! HAHA!”
As an appetizer, she crams a small fistful of licorice into her oversized maw, chewing noisily.
Yes, I think spending the time necessary to gorge ourselves on the offspring of our enemy is the goblin thing to do here. :D
So who should take the healing pots? And moving on?
Draga, of the mist |
Our heroes gather up their loot, and trudge through the marsh. The sun is high above through the canopy when they finally arrive at their destination - the great shipwreck drawn on Scribbleface's mao!
~~ The Shipwreck ~~
Eben's Circus |
Is that a fence around the ship? If so, what does it look like and how high is it? Are there obvious entrances? Any less-obvious weak spots or hidden entrances?
Perception, entrances: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
”Reta not care,” responds the mighty warrioress quietly as her huge, red eyes scan the ship. ”Reta only care ‘bout some fireworks.”
Any creatures, traps, or other threats she can detect?

And keep in mind that Reta is treated as having scent against canines, if it’s applicable.
