A few things to finish before we get started:

Spherecasters need their spell points in their profile header along with any noticeable drawbacks (Secret Signs, Somatic Components, etc).

@Hectate: Bathalazar either needs his own alias or a statblock header.

Everyone should make sure a link to their picture is somewhere in their profile. It'll be your battlemap avatar, so I need to be able to find it easily. :-)

For those of you who haven't done so yet, I'll need a statblock header, by the way. Hectate's is a nearly-perfect example. If necessary, add a secondary header with limited-use abilities (smite chaos, channel energy, etc).

I'll put up the first Gameplay post later today. I've also put up a map of Talingarde and some common-knowledge information in Campaign Info. In the meantime, read the information in my profile to get a feel for how I'll be handling certain mechanics.

Just an FYI: you'll be starting the game with nothing. That means no bombs, extracts, or means to make them. It's hard to be an Alchemist in prison. ;-)

A question for you guys.
I currently have Magic Signs and Easy Focus. The idea being that I pretty much always have control weather going on in the background unless I need to do something else, which means I'm pretty much always radiating magic :/
Should I keep it as is or drop both? What do you think?

@Boreas: just FYI, there will be times when you're not manifesting anything. The beginning of the campaign, for instance. ;-) Also, if the party's being stealthy, you'll want to keep the temperature changes to a minimum. :-)

Did you consider not having it "always on".

It can still be reasonable to have Weather Control on when its needed via Easy Focus, leaving you with a standard action to do something else.

If you ONLY wanted it as a fluff action of permanently freezing stuff around you, I'd say drop both and spent the standard action to maintain it, instead of the move, then drop a spell point during events/combat to keep it running while you need your standard actions.

Alternatively, swap Magic Signs and/or Wild Magic for e.g. Somatic Casting*2...meaning you cannot wear armor like a classic caster, but I'm pretty certain GM would allow you to reflavor this(e.g. armor could freeze up if you use magic, immobilizing you...rather than having to do elaborate hand gestures all the time. People could, as always, still try and see the magic originates from you(as per somatic), but maybe thats because you're so chill...I dunno, but you could definitely try and work something out there-)

(That, and I picked the Wild Magic/Magical Signs Combo for Robin because I want her powers to be slightly beyond her control...wild, unrestrained...fiery.(and because with not verbal or somatic casting I feel she needs something that gives away what she's doing...))

Normally I will only be dropping the temperature by 1 or 2 stages (5-10 degrees Celsius), its not like I intend to freeze everything all the time (that comes later >:) just create a chill in the air.
So I'll keep it as is:

Easy Focus, Magical Signs, Wild Magic and Warded Against Nature (Trait) boons/drawbacks.
Boreas is a natural sorcerer whos frigid power stems from his inner rage and turmoil. This magic comes to Summers easily however it is unnatural and often uncontrolled, no animal will willingly come to Boreas and there are occasionally unintended effects with his magic.

With this Boreas is a natural and inexperienced sorcerer. Magic comes easily and is easy to maintain (Easy Boon), and often subconscious (Control Weather ability going in the background if nothing else is going on).
However Boreas is still young and his magic is very noticeable and isnt always under his control, rather ruled by his emotions (Magical Signs, Wild Magic). His magic is also very off-putting and sets him up to seem unapproachable and unnatural (Warded Against Nature, high Intimidate).

I am ready to go :)

Don't forget that only matters during combat/actions.

In non-combat situations, you still spend one move action to maintain it. So if you are not standing still, you have one standard action left to use as move action.(Meaning, for for example, you can never hustle(=double move) while maintaining it.
Without easy focus, you would spend one standard action to maintain it. So you would have one move action per round left, and be in exactly the same situation. Totally your call, just saying, don't expect much benefit from easy focus except in certain situations- ^_^

But yeah, the fact you're as much a magical copy as a polar opposite could be quite fitting. Just don't make me pick up Weather Sphere because it's always so cold :)

Also, Cold Lord means that I can create a small sphere around me that is unaffected by the cold, so if your close to me (ironically) you should be warm enough.

Why would I want to escape fog?
Gaze of flames lets me see through it without problems.
I literally LOVE fog.
I might even be willing to accept significant temperature drops if there's sufficient fog involved.

it's not about normal street goblins....it's about hemogoblins, or, to the uninitiated, blood goblins. Whole different story...as far as I heard they make for great seasoning in many dishes, if you only use the spiced blood.

Aye...currently trying to come to terms with the cold -_- That is, knowing they WILL kill me anyway, trying to find a good IC-reason not to fry the AC.

I don't intend to, but that would be a good point to speak up and decide on PvP, considering we ARE an evil group.
Generally, I like no pvp or even plotting behind each others backs UNLESS it's ok for all involved as per discussion or PM. But I can work with anything we decide as group...

W/o spoiling anything, assuming YBD stays pretty close to the script, PvP and plotting betrayals becomes, not impossible, but impractical, difficult and counterproductive by the end of the story's first leg.

Agreed - I'm here to be (co-operatively) Evil, not to be a jerk. Creative tension is fine, provided all parties involved are OK with it, but outright PvP is just not something I'm interested in.

Ya, im fine to have no PvP, I have tried to be a "prankster" in a different campaign, it doesnt really work with this medium :(
You either have to spell it out before hand (and kinda ruin the joke) or play it blind and have people get mad at you :(

I like the idea of the fire and ice competitiveness, but more in a sense of trying to outdo eachother or accidentally hindering eachother (I freeze him, you flame him, I exasperate).
That sounds like fun, but I wont do anything to you :)
Still, if someone wants to play a joke on me, I would be up for it ^-^
Nothing lethal or dangerous, and dont steal my stuff, but make it funny ^-^


Regarding PvP and the like, it's highly doubtful that'll be happening in this AP. To begin with, you'll have to work together to escape Branderscar. Afterwards, something happens VERY shortly thereafter that makes inter-party fighting extremely undesirable. Things will begin to be made clear the next time I make a Gameplay post. That'll happen whenever everyone's RP is done. Take your time; working together and gathering information will make your lives MUCH easier. :-)

I know, YBD told me that there would be something in place that...discourages inner-party fighting. I am not familiar with what it is, but I do know from experience that open conflict and plotting/backstabbing are not the same thing...at all. I just think it's good if we as players agree on how we want to do things, regardless of the limitations imposed by the campaign.

Not only that, it could well be that we ACTIVELY compete...I had planned to pick up basic Weather later on if no inmediate other necessities need covering :)
I left development open so I could aim for any sphere...but with that many casters, we may well both attempt to affect weather...fire and ice, indeed :)


The party will definitely have a unique approach to the challenges they'll face. Should be fun. :-)

I do not wish to engage in or deal with PvP. It has it's place in some games, but none I wish to play in.

Now, allies that snipe and chip at each other, that is perfectly acceptable.

It looks like Summers and I are heading down that road a bit now and Im kinda looking forward to it.

Ekk is a team player, he has no problems leading or following, just know that he will gladly follow someone he believes has the same end goal as him.

By your bios, it looks like many of you are here by...happenstance.

Ekkehardt absolutely has a bigger long term goal, a big plan if you will.

Here's a (probably unnecessary) thought...
If left to our own devices, could we escape? Or at least get free of our bonds?
I doubt I could, I think the best I could do would be to freeze the Manacles for someone else to shatter :/
But I could summon a fog bank to conceal us!


The manacles are a Escape Artist DC 30. If people want to begin attempting escape right now without conducting any planning or intelligence-gathering, that's perfectly fine with me. ;-)

Although I will remind everyone that your execution is in three days. Not right this second. ;-)

I would have attempted to try and use fire at my manacles later if no other opportunity presents itself(e.g. being unbound for eating, rather than being spoonfed). If I can make the iron hot enough, it may not have the strenght to hold against attempting to pull my hands free with force.

But 1.: if I fail, I may end up welding the lock shut instead(definitely a great idea for day 3...make them work if they want to bring me to the pyre). and 2.: that won't help any of you...so for now, I'm waiting.

Plus the cold is much more annoying than being bound. (Also, the fact I cannot really participate in the RP banter right now :) )
(If we are lined up linear, I can probably only reliably read what Hecate and Andra say-)
