Minor Crab-beast

The DM returns... though jet lag clouds his mind and lack of sleep makes turgid his actions.

Updates will hopefully flow from his diseased mind this evening...

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

huzzah! Welcome back :) Rest up and look forward to getting back to business.

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Welcome back evil Overload! :)

Just a heads up to everyone that I'm heading over to Norway for a Easter break from this Thursday (17th) through to Sunday.

Will likely be off the grid during this time, so DMPC Crux as required to keep things ticking over.

Male Orc Expert 5

And I dont think any of us made a summary post. XD

Well while the gm recovers let's formulate a plan real fast. LEt's start with some qeustions.

How much gold we got out of this horde?

What alies do we currently have?

How much gold/resource wise is necessary for the ritual?

What do we personally need?

What needs to eb done to fortify the horn and make it more accessible for us? (I'm thinking of having that gigantic hole Mi'Dre initially used to be sealed off)

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Oh, we were meant to do that weren't we... Well still a few of my out of character suggestions/questions that haven't been answered/commented on.

Some additions and alterations made:

Mi'Dre wrote:

Boggards I suggest we actually give them some martial training, maybe spend some gold to turn them into guards or elite guards (from the downtime rules) or maybe even soldiers if we want to get really fancy. I seem to recall getting told it, but don't remember when, so how many boggards do we have available to us VoV?

...

Halthus... we still need to question him however, we should get as much info from him as possible about how things used to run, if there were any particular weak spots exposed during the assault, etc. I'd say Albina (given her diplomacy score and gender) is the best one to talk to him.

...

So my suggestion is for at least Jethryk and Albina (having the best Knowledge local and diplomacy respectively) head into town to ask around about supplies and look into some discrete and/or expendable craftsmen. If we go ahead with training the boggards then we'll probably want to get some equipment for them too.

Mi'Dre would also like to go into town and smooze around the bars for any rumors of blessed groves, lucky shrines, legends or anything else that might hint to the presence/interference of a celestial on the island. Really want to rework Mi'Dre asap.

As to your questions:

45,500gp from the vault, which is about the only treasure we got apart from components and the like.

Allies; some unknown/forgotten number of boggards, Halthus (who will have to die as soon as we start the ritual), two platemail wearing corpses ripe for reanimation, a nicely preserved minotaur for same, a golem that we have a decent portion of what we need to repair, two daemons once they reappear, and rituals for summoning things (feel free to speak up if I missed any)

DM - Voice of the Voiceless wrote:
Pricing for rituals will be available after you at least head back to town for sourcing, etc. I'll be breaking into collation time soon but not just yet.

Mi'Dre needs a celestial to sacrifice, and then equipment suitable for a large boney person :p

Fortifying... well lots! Mostly traps but sealing up the hole the oozes got in through as you said, and also patching up the bit of wall we carved our way through as a shortcut. Recruiting some more minions to man the different areas and traps too would be good.

Minor Crab-beast

Right - costs:
Hellhounds - 2,400 gp in reagents
Nightmare - 3,000 gp in reagents
Mudmen - 1,200 gp in reagents
Alchemical golem - varies by component

Ritual Requirements:
1) “The Dirges of Apollyon” - you have
2) 666 doses of unholy water - The statue of Vetra-Kali creates unholy water at will.
3) The Eye of Vigilance - you have.
4) The Eye of Hatred - you have.
5) The Withering Eye - you have.
6) a death priest or descendant - Halthus qualifies.
7) A devout follower of Iomedae
8) The bloodline of the Victor

Assets:
Halthus the Flayer
16 Boggards and their mad Shaman
Hexor and Vexor - still waiting to recorporate and attempt their vengeance.

Dark Archive

Some dude

Hey all, in case it's not terribly obvious, I was abducted by aliens (well, relatives, same thing really) and by the time I returned, I was totally out of the loop and lost what mojo I had for gaming.

I apologize for not getting back to post or PM or email some sort of heads-up before now, but I'm not going to be able to continue and you guys should grab a replacement from the eager hordes of villainy that would be lucky to grab a spot in this procession of wickedness.

Thanks for the game, it's been a hoot to 'get the evil on,' and play on the other side of the fence, and I wish you all many wicked returns, or, something perhaps less tortured a phrase.

Male Orc Expert 5

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooo

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Ahhhhh man - VERY sorry to see you go Set...

Thanks for the experience hombre - hopefully get a chance to play onside you on the virtual table down the line.

Minor Crab-beast

Set - I'd wondered if something like that had happened, and thanks for coming back to let us know. It's been fun and it will be a lesser PbP for your absence.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Bummer Set, Albina has been cool :/ All the best though.

Sovereign Court

Sorry to see you go, Set :-/

Minor Crab-beast

That does leave us with a Cleric sized hole in our dearly despised party and a player count of but four.

Shall we forge onwards - or add a fifth to the mix afore we get too far ahead of ourselves.

Arcanist 8 | HP: 30 | AC: 15 (14 Touch, 12 Flatfooted) | CMD: 16 | Fort: +3, Reflex: +6, Will: +8| Init: +9 | Perception: +3, Sense Motive: +1

Normally I'd say no. But divine magic will likely be crucial in our near future (thinkin bout some wraiths).

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

yeah, a replacement would be good.

Merisiel - Rogue 1 (AC 17/14/13; HP 10/10; Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1; Init +6; CMD 16; Perception +7)

If it would help, I would be happy re-build Jethryk as a battle oracle...?

His damage output would go down a tad (from 2d6+16 to 2d6+13), but he would otherwise essentially stay the same - I would mostly be swapping out stuff that I *don't* use for revelations and spell casting :-)

Male Orc Expert 5

Nah. Jethryk is fine as he is. We need a guy who buffs Jethryk and company. IF Jethryk is the one buffing he's not the one doing the smashing of faces.

Merisiel - Rogue 1 (AC 17/14/13; HP 10/10; Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1; Init +6; CMD 16; Perception +7)

I just thought that I should offer - battle oracles are quite powerful, after all ;-)

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Depending on who (what) we recruit - I could also retool Crux to provide some buffing and with perhaps a more necromantic bent?

Am still struggling to find his "niche" in terms of crunch so no biggie for me to rebuild. Would allow us some flexibility regardless??

Minor Crab-beast

Had a slight Elder Scrolls Online related delay last night... Will be back in with a post either within the next four hours, or in about 10 hours.

Male Orc Expert 5

Our funds 45,500gp

Summoning monsters to guard the halls - 6,600gp

We need to get Cruxxcarr to LEsser Animate Dead us a servant until he can get better ones. Plus whoever we get has to be able to help us rebuild the horn either in the form of spells or providing servants (undead is easiest).

Let's set aside 1,000 gp for animating dead. That's 40hd worth of undead cruxxcarr or our new cleric/oracle can make.

What's the simplest way we've got to rebuild the hole in the outer wall of the horn? Stone shape and a pile of rocks would be simplest but summoned labor might do in a pinch.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

I think we need to kidnap/hire an expendable craftsman of some skill to supervise repairs, design and build us some traps, and just generally be our b*%!$ until we decide to get rid of them. Hiring some mercenaries, or otherwise recruiting wouldn't hurt either.

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Okay regardless I'll do a re-jig on Crux for the necro-bent (as a theme not sexual preference) - perhaps this time I'll get a satisfactory build for him.

The zombie chain gang is genius and we can re-animate servants/hirelings and passing vans of pesky teens as fodder.

Will nail this down over the weekend - work is dropping the hammer at present so won't have time for a Crux-redux.

Male Orc Expert 5

Just spreading the word. Getting my samurai on.

Male Orc Expert 5

The car I was in. The front door is open because I opened it. This thing flipped twice after the blown tire and landed on top of the guard rail.

Another view. I'm around 6'6" (I don't know how that translates for europeans) so naturally I got smushed. With cuts along the top of my head and a concussion to match. My left elbow is badly bruised and a left clavical is fractured. All this along wiht little cuts everywhere like a deep one on my thumb and another in the ball of my right hand.

This picture gives a good idea of distance. Not that we could tell inside the car but apparently we turned 180 degrees in the middle of the road when we careened off and flipped twice over the grass before the guard rail caught us.

One last one.

In the end my fiance walked out wiht some nasty bruises and lots of complaints about the hospital staff and my daughter got away without a scratch whereas I may have to replace this pair of blue jeans such as they are covered in dried blood.

The only reason I'm posting this I think, is because given how sudden, how fast, and you can tell by the pics how destructive, it all turned out I guess I'm simply amazed to still be alive. Sore, hurt, shaken, and going to have to worry about replacing the undoubtedly totaled care, but alive.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Wow, rest up dude. Glad you're okay, sounds like things could have been a lot worse. Get better soon!

Minor Crab-beast

Time didn't swing my way today - updates as soon as I can on the morrow.

Sovereign Court

Ouch. Take whatever time you need - Jethryk promises to not do anything *too* egregious to your PC whilst you are away ;-)

Seriously, though, take your time :-)

Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

OOF. Nasty one hombre... we're very glad that your still alive too - echoing what's been said, but rest up and be well. Gonna rename you David Dunne Tark :)

(For the record 6'6 is 6'6 (or big yin :) here in Scotia.)

Minor Crab-beast

Chucking this up here... Have a read of Mi'Dre's last spoiler and see if there's anything about a recently tended to corpse of a treant that might just be connected to recently arrived elves that you might want to take advantage of...

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Uhh, did he find any tracks around it? He would have looked... Or are you thinking divination, because I don't think we have any of that at the moment. Are you actually planning to replace Albina?

Anyway, beyond digging it back up again and burning it to a crisp (maybe salting the earth if anyone goes into town at some point and can get some), I don't have any ideas. I'm hoping that will attract some attention itself :p

Hmm, I did mean to have Mi'Dre comment on that (mostly by grumbling about it loudly), but I guess I forgot.

Merisiel - Rogue 1 (AC 17/14/13; HP 10/10; Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1; Init +6; CMD 16; Perception +7)

Heh. Well, if we *really* wanted to annoy the elves, we could always try to animate the treant as some kind of undead ;-)

Minor Crab-beast

No tracks around the corpse - but without invoking meta you'd realise that there are a number of ways for tracks to be hidden by skilled individuals.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

So probably rangers.

Hmm, are there any plant-based undead? I guess there's nothing stopping us turning it into a zombie, but that just seems odd to me :p

Minor Crab-beast

Grumble grumble Work, grumble grumble delay grumble.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Kill them and eat their insides! It seems to work for Mi'Dre.

Minor Crab-beast

Just another quick update - we've got an influx of the flu plague at home and work has been nuts over the last few weeks; and I've also finally succumbed to the depths of man-flu.

Hence the lack of updates, and I'm probably not going to get back on top of things until this weekend. So please bear with me as I wade through this - and I'm aiming to have everyone updated again on Saturday / Sunday.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Bugger, feel better soon VoV :)

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Works for me - still not had a chance to rejig Crux properly... will endeavor to get that done ahead of DMVoV's resurrection.

Minor Crab-beast

On the mend, but not quite there yet.

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Ditto for the rebuild lol.

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Crux is almost done - reworked his spells and skills to assist the group more. Also selected Craft Wand as his 5th level class feat...

So look for some juicy Wands being whipped out by the corpulent one...

Wand of Interrogate for Mi'Dre ;)
Wand of Defoliate made from that treant corpse... for starters...
Wands of Infernal Healing

Minor Crab-beast

Sorry for the wee holdup - was ambushed by a crab dinner on Wednesday and our home net going down last night. Will update over the course of the work day today.

Male Orc Expert 5

Wish I'd be ambushed by a crab dinner.

Minor Crab-beast

Technically a three part crab extravaganza (chilli, black pepper and salted egg yolk) with a side order of black pepper prawns ;)

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

not big on chilli, but otherwise sounds yum. Salted egg yolk sounds odd though, not bad, just odd.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Minor Crab-beast

Enlightenment on salted egg yolk - they are a very asiany flavor, but if you like it punchy and salty cholesteroly strong then you'll be in love.

Male Gaav (52/52 hitpoints) Inquisitor

Now it sounds delicious.

Minor Crab-beast

No response to Mi'Dre dragging back the elf? - I'm assuming this took place before the shopping trip as no-one posted IC about departing?

Male Human Wizard Thassilonian Sin Magic Specialist (Gluttony) 6

Will post something suitably nefarious today Mark - interwebs at home acting up so having to slot it around work.
