Welcome to the out of character discussion list for my campaign. Please sound off to confirm your desire to play.

This is Deron, checking in. If anyone can think of a better avatar for this character let me know. I haven't been able to find one and I feel like this one gives the wrong impression about how this character looks (but chose it for the prominent tattoos).

So your total is 23.

Thanks for catching that! Fixed. BTW, is there a format for PCs, or did you just do the spoilers yourself?

I just use the bbcode tags and spoiler each group and make the text smaller because it looks better to me. I think people like to use herolab, but it's pretty expensive for what it does. I think Watersprite will be happy as long as all the info is there and it's relatively easy to read. ;)

(Male Elf (Mordant Spire) Bard (Sea Singer)/1)

I am in! I look forward to playing with everyone.

(male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1)

Woohoo! I'm in too. Looking forward to playing with you guys. :)

Deron: I couldn't find a good picture either, hence the hand. I figure I can say he has a tattoo of Abendego on his hand to justify it. *g* Didn't someone say there would soon be new avatars on the board, though?

Taking a page from Patch's book I decided to go with abstract instead of a misleading avatar picture.

Half orcs aren't too good with this newfangled techno stuff...lol

Before we get started I know that there are a few that need to finish fleshing out their characters and I'd also like to give you guys a chance to decide if any of you have already met. Such as the two of you who may be sharing a prison cell.

If there are any questions, please go ahead and ask.

I'm one of the prisoners, and my backstory could work with another pirate's...? Or we could just have met in the cell, heheh.

DM, I'd like to know if you'll allow the Drench cantrip?

Drench is fine with me.

Deron is in for a little bit of fighting while drunk. I figured we could meet one another in a cell before being volunteered to be part of the crew.

(M half orc Barbarian 1 Invulnerable Rager)

Hoga's been wandering about the docks lately. He's worried that he might be recognized and forced back into his old life, or worse.

If only he could get on a ship and leave this demon-cursed place behind!

Sounds good to me. Nothing like being tossed in a dungeon to create comrades-in-arms. *g* Should we post our intros in the main thread? Patch will probably be tormenting the other prisoners with his "musical talent" on the birdpipes he had tucked away in his vest.

I'm happy either way. Deron will almost certainly be trying to stay as silent and still as possible to avoid trouble or notice. Hopefully unsuccessfully.

Ahoy! Welcome aboard!

That looks like everyone. Once we sign in here, Watersprite can begin the process of making our lives miserable.

Alrighty, looks like everyone is here. First IC post will be coming up tomorrow. If you have any last minute changes or questions go ahead and ask now, otherwise take your seasick pills and watch out for mermaids.

Aye, aye, cap'n!

Just wanted to give a heads up that I do the vast majority of my posting from work and I am off on Thursday and Sunday nights. This means that I rarely post after 7 am CDT Thursday morning until sometime Friday and the same again after 7 am CDT Sunday morning.

So noted and thanks for letting me know. I'll keep it in mind if any combat or other important scenes happen to fall on those days.

(male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1)

Just wanted to let you know I probably won't be able to post next Tuesday (the 28th).

Sorry for my inactivity. Between my father's death and Origins, I've had a lot on my mind. I'll catch up when I have a moment to get my head on straight. Thanks for your patience.

Not a problem. We can just rewrite you as being too seasick to leave your bunk until you're ready.

Patch Cullen wrote:

Ok, thanks for the notice.

(male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1)

Got back earlier than I thought I would! Don't want to miss anything, hehe.

(male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1)

I've been having some hard drive trouble with my computer (it took me multiple attempts and over an hour to start it today), so if I suddenly disappear it's because the thing fatally crashed.

It just occurred to me to ask: Is there something I'm missing that makes Patch proficient in a short sword? Sorcerers get only simple weapons don't they? I generally forget that it's a martial weapon myself since so many classes that use simple weapons plus a couple get it.

D'oh, you're right! That's what I get for usually playing fighter types. Sorry for the goof - I'll recalculate his attack.

I forgot to make sorceror his favored class, too. Hrmph.

Don't feel bad, I missed it at first too. :)

(male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1)

This coming Saturday I'm not going to be able to post (unless I manage it in the morning).

I'm very sorry to say that my mind is still otherwise occupied, and I doubt that I'll be able to focus on the campaign. Go on and proceed without me, and happy adventuring!

I've decided to open up the recruit thread again and try to pick up a cleric/healer type since the oracle officially dropped out and this fight reminded me the party is lacking in that department.

I appear to have found a druid healer.

Or maybe an Oracle....

I'm going to be completely honest and say I am against both of them for breaking with the existing party's racial homogeny.

We'll see which is willing to switch to non-human. I'm sure we can find a race we don't have represented yet....

Oracle is going Aasimir, haven't heard back from the druid yet to see what he may play. We are on a time limit though for a decent introduction point though so he best not wait too long.

The fight with the pirates will bring your characters up to level 2. For your next level of hit die, you may either roll on this thread for it, or you may take the average+1 without rolling.

Rolling for Second level HP: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Given how I roll, I think I'm just going to stick with the average =P Stats updated for second level. I'm keeping one 1st level spell slot un-prepped for on the fly prepping when needed. Favored class bonus once again going to HP.

(Male Elf (Mordant Spire) Bard (Sea Singer)/1)

I'll just take the average. No CON mod makes it a poor bet to roll.

Do you count the half point every other level or just drop it?

For 1d8 average 4 +1, so 5hp each level

Nice roll Deron
