After you all step through the portal in the sewers of Absalom, you arrive the streets of Shadow Absalom. This shifting city is an imperfect mirror of its Material Plane counterpart, with many regions and districts of its own. The streets of Shadow Absalom are a forlorn affair; the city lacks the bustling avenues one would expect to find in a settlement of its size. TYou are dumped into an abandoned alley, right across from a boarded-up shop whose peeling sign reads “Organs and Sundries.” This side of the portal looks identical to the side that you entered.

There is no sight of the invisible enemy you followed here. After you depart the confines of the alley, you notice that roughly half of the city’s populace consists of fetchlings, while the remaining half includes a wide variety of unfamiliar humanoid species. Unlike cities
of the Material Plane, the streets of Shadow Absalom are accommodating to most species—kobolds included, so you have no problem blending in.

(ik doe dit voor de eerste keer en denk dat het zo zou moeten)
Pethjun looks around for strong people to take not of, as she whispers in a screechy voice to the parties casters: "So how do we turn this portal thingy off? As much as a relish a good fight with more pokable bigfoots, i'd rather we not leave the door to our domain open to all these grey people"

She also tries to keep a low profile, taking10 for a 17 on stealth.

Vanarog moves after the other kobolds through the portal. Sniffing the air as he arrives while holding a thigh grip on his most previous possession; his oversized magic two-headed dragon rod, for a touch of security in these unfamiliar surroundings

"..something smells ..odd here..no stench of sewer....not sure I like..."

"No longshanks here. We killz portal now ..then jump back before it goes BOOM and go back to tribe. We beez heroes and get lotz of true shiny's"

As creatures of the Material Plane, you find yourselves oddly attracted to the portal. As long as the portal remains open, the you have an instinctive connection with it, and you know what path to take through the sinister city to rediscover your point of entry. With this in mind, you should feel empowered to explore the city, as there are no obvious clues in the alley where they first appear.

Vanarog:
Your spellcraft check identifies that the portal is drawing power from some external force, most likely a magical focus item, and you know that such an item would only be effective within a range of a few miles.

Sovereign Court

Fazgyn slinks through the portal as well. He doesn't trust the inhabitants of Shadow Absalom yet - how is he to know they're any different from the fetchlings we just met? But the weird city with all kinds of strange races in it is interesting. A city where a kobold might shop openly for contraptions... so many possibilities...

With the fortuitous luxury to walk unmolested, you have the chance to chat with locals and learn about the local area. You can roll a Diplomacy, Knowledge (local or planes), or Perception check.

Vanarong contemplates the energies around the portal

" ...pretty.....shiney...musn't be distracted by the shiny..focus.....hmmm...energy line flowing out..and through...must locate..."

"I senssse the portal is drawing power from somewhere...mosst likely a magical focus item. We stop portal if we find the focussss. It must be relative close..no more then few miles away from here...we musst finds it. Nobody touches it other them me, I must handle it....it's dangerous magics. Only for Master of Magics!"

Vanarog casts detect magic and then takes a look around, hoping to locate a clue on where to go, hopefully a line of magic leading back to the focus itemPerception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Fazgyn's not to used to being up on the surface anyway, so he's still playing it cautiously (stealth take 10 -> 25) and spying on all the people moving about, trying to get a sense of who they are, who seems to be in charge, and who else is trying to avoid attention and/or creeping up on us.

Vanarog tries to remember what he knows about this Plane of Shadows

Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

The city is called Shadow Absalom and is located on the Shadow Plane. As its name would suggest, the city rests at a coterminous point with Absalom’s location on the Material Plane. The locals are used to strangers winding up in the city, by mistake or by odd turns of fortune.

The great wyrm umbral dragon Argrinyxia, the Shifting Lady of Ebon Scales, rules Shadow Absalom. By her decree, planar portals and gateways are prohibited within the borders of the city without her blessing. The sole exception is a stable planar portal located in the city’s heart, a site that matches up with the Material Plane equivalent of Starstone Cathedral. Those lost in the Shadow Plane are urged to exit via the strange portal in the city’s heart, as it always returns those who entered the Shadow Plane to their previous point of entry.

While dozens of factions operate within the planar city, two are of interest to the PCs’ expedition. The Onyx Alliance maintains several safe houses and bases within the city. The alliance’s headquarters is probably located somewhere within the city, though only its members know for sure. A second organization, known as the Light-Weavers’ Guild, is comprised of several resident d’ziriak hives that make their living by adding luminescent accoutrements to clothing and armor. The light-weavers maintain a longstanding grudge against the Onyx Alliance, based on some past slight unknown to the people of Shadow Absalom.

*I'm not home yet and I have limited access to my PC tonight, so in order to get things moving: GM, could you please roll for me and let me know the results?

I don't have access to the map and rolls because I currently don't have any access to a PC right now, but I want things to move on, if only for the sake of the other players.
I'm sorry, but I'm making the best I can from a situation I didn't want to end up in.
Other option is that I stop playing so the rest can continue without hiccups and me dragging along.

There is currently no map, you can do rolls inside the Messageboard, see the button below the message editor

Vanarog looks at the others

"Whats plan now? We go for enemies of enemy and look for light-weavers and find minions to do work for us? Or we look for portal makers ourselvess?"

"Dragon rules this place...this be good place for kobolds. Dragon ruled no portals within city..maybe we talk to dragon and tell about portal? Maybe dragon help shut down portal? Also...only portal Dragon says is ok will take us back to where we left..so we can blow up portal and make it through that one we can still go home, so that isss goods to know."

Sovereign Court

"Finding the True Trueblood is a sure way to close the portal", says Engashez with a glint in her eyes. "But is it safe here? You'd expect more of those Greyshanks so close to the portal". She looks around, looking where the grey people are.

Sovereign Court

"Perhaps... could it be that simple? Why didn't we do that on the other side then? The Dreng hew-man said that wouldn't work, that we needed to find a way to close it on this side.

The bigfoot that got away got to warn his allies, so should we really stay here, where we're expected to be? On the other claw, if we leave here they can go through the portal without us knowing about it. Let me just bare some slow fangs to try to keep an eye on that..."

I want to rig some "traps" to let us know if anyone else uses the portal; not to affect people going through, much more subtle than that. Thing "hair on the doorlid" style stuff. We do have a hew-man corpse with hair here to scavenge for components.

Take 10 craft traps: 27.

I'll be at work all day and can't post here. Assume I'll be following the group, staying out of sight and trying to provide advance warning if something is creeping up on us.

Vanarog, Engashez:
With your knowledge (arcane) you think the portal can only be closed if you have access to its power source.

You create some small 'traps' to log portal activity.

Pethjun contemplates for a moment, but only a moment and then responds to the bickering.

"I say we go sssseeeee the lightweavery peoples and convince them to bring a fight right to the greyshanks door. If we can capture one of the higher uppy bigfootsies we can probably 'convince' them to talk about how to wrick this doorway thingy"

She also looks around trying to figure out what's going on:

Skyrahk yells "Yip!" then smacks Vanarog on the head.

"Or you don't like getting healed?"

Skyrahk composes herself.

As you exit the alley with the portal the first thing you see is half-dozen fetchlings in rags slumped against the sealed entrance of a church bere of iconography. Each of them partakes in a ritual involving crushing crystalline prisms that, when broken, emit vibrant, multicolored light. The light moves into the fetchling’s eyes, absorbing like water down a drain.

Sovereign Court

"Vanarog, does this look like spellcasting, or magic? Are they attacking us?"

Fazgyn picks one of the druggies to approach, ideally one that's a bit apart from the others.

"Hey dude, what's that you got there?"

"Light! It shines!"

Skyrahk hovers in the back, waiting, looming...

These fetchlings are highly addicted, and only able to maintain incoherent conversations.

Sense motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13

"Hmm, these guys don't know anything. By Dahak these shadow people are useless!"

With that Skyrahk sets off towards these Lightweavery people. (Assuming I have any idea where those would be found with my earlier gather information).

While you are "talking" with the Fetchling Light Addicts you can see a weird processional on the main street from the corner of your eyes:
Four sacristan kytons create an unerringly equidistant perimeter around a single elven child who skips along the empty streets of the city. The procession is frustratingly elusive, as they always appear just at the edge of vision.

Fazgyn tries to keep an eye on them, trying to figure out what the hell those things are (no applicable Knowledge), and wondering if the druggies have an easier time keeping track of those things-in-the-corner-of-your-vision.

To the druggie:

"You see that? Who's the little elfling? What are those scarecrows? Where are they taking her?"

Slow Fang Shui wrote:

(In draconic) "These guys are useless. Let's go on and see what else there is to see."

With that I'm going to skulk around some more to see what else is out there - while trying to stay far away from kytons and other things that look like they enjoy pain a bit too much.

A wash of blackness eclipses the otherwise dim light of the city as a massive form blots out the light from above. You catch the briefest shadow of a great wyrm flying overhead, before it disappears into the distance. Some nearby fetchlings prostrate themselves before the figure, whispering the name of their patron “Argrinyxia” while other nearby creatures only seem to take cursory note, as though this passing shadow were a common occurrence.

Sovereign Court

Engashez's eye grow ever wider as she spots the shadow above her and lets out an "OOOOOOOH!", before dashing away into the general direction of where the shadow of the great wyrm went.

Fazgyn looks at Slyrakh appraisingly for a moment..

"I'd better go after Engy to keep an eye on..."

... then scurries after.

Skyrahk follows along.

"Thiss is going to be chaoss!"

Skyrahk lets out a sigh and follows along.

As the group tries to follow the shadow they see a four-armed creature looks like a cross between a human and a black and ochre termite. Its body and arms display glowing runes.

Knowledge (planes) DC10:
D’ziriak

Natives of the Plane of Shadow, d’ziriaks are a mysterious race of human-sized insectoids. From their partially buried hive cities rise spires and steeples adorned with alchemical fire and illusory flame, dim beacons of sanctuary in the foreboding twilight. The d’ziriaks remain staunchly neutral in most affairs, and are typically happy to converse with travelers via their eerie telepathy (their own language of buzzes and chitters is an obscure one known by few outside their race), but their unknown, obscure goals lead most others to regard this race with caution.

The average d’ziriak is 7 feet tall and has four arms, two legs, a termite-like abdomen, and a mandibled visage somewhere between that of insect and human. Two of its arms are large and possess sharp claws, while the other two are relatively small and used for fine manipulations, not combat. Strangely for a race native to the realm of shadows, the d’ziriaks have a colorful collection of runic shapes, almost like glowing tattoos, upon their chitinous flesh. These runes help to denote what role in d’ziriak society each of these beings serves.

D’ziriaks rarely travel off the Plane of Shadow except on orders of their rulers, and prefer to live their lives out in their hive cities. They remain open to trade and diplomacy with any brave enough to travel the Plane of Shadow, and are valued by many both on and off their plane for their artisans’ ability to weave light into tangible art and create weapons of great quality and beauty.

The creature buzzes and chitters and you all hear a voice in your heads.

"'Chasing the dragon' is never a good idea, neither literally nor figuratively. I kindly request your attention. I think we have some things in common: Respect for the great Argrinyxia and an enemy known as the Onyx Alliance."

Fazgyn skids to a halt and looks the critter over from tip to... toe... (Takes 10 on the knowledge check.)

"Interesting.. how do you know? Have you been watching us?"

Sovereign Court

Engashez stops abruptly and looks at the strange creature.Who are you?

Slow Fang Shui wrote:
