This is the new thread for the tandem soft RP game that will be going with Asmodina's Wrath of the Righteous campaign.

Participants in this campaign will be contributing to the rebuilding of Kenabres, and dealing with the fallout of its destruction at the opening of Wrath of the Righteous. They may also cross paths with the adventurers in that campaign, when those heroes return to rest and resupply during their crusade.

Let me make a preliminary informative post. :)

* This group will be linked with the adventuring group over in Asmodina's thread. They might stop by when they come back for supplies.

* There will be adventures!

* I'm currently leaning toward not using mythic powers, but if you get picked up to replace someone who's gone missing from the other group, you'd get the mythic spark. This is not a killer for me though, if people are really married to having a mythic progression, we'll do that.

* We will use kingdom-building, but there may be some twists. For instance, you can't just spend some BP and build a city wall -- you have to have access to stone resources first. So this will motivate some of your scenes and adventures; in this case, for example, you'd head to the quarry ten miles to the east and see what happened there, and re-establish a reliable source of stone.
Everyone important in Kenabres was killed in the attack, which means it's up to YOU to decide on the new leadership!
There are some known exploits in the kingdom building rules. For now I will just say, please don't be exploity. :)

* Azura (the character) will still exist in this game, but she will largely be a helper/advisor figure. She's not crucial, she is not steering the adventure, and she could die.

* Since there are so many players, we will probably have scenes that split the party. To help manage them I will make posts that start with an identifier about the location of the scene, such as:
Old Kenabres - City Hall

Then, when you post from that location, please put that at the start of your post as well. (That's in boldface, out of character.) It's entirely possible that we could have two or three action scenes happening at once.

* Since this is all made-up and not a published AP, please bear with me. I will be winging a lot of it. :D

I feel that Mendev as a whole isn't really fleshed out because it is over shadowed by the world wound and all. Basically it is just there to fight and not much else.

Ah, but there's things to see, if you're willing to dig: the tensions between the church of Iomedae that is the nominal state religion and the older druidic faith of Mendev's native people and the Sarkorian refugees that took shelter there. The truly faithful paladins struggling to keep the greedy and undisciplined low templars in line. The hernes attacking any who trespass in their forest...and the fact that as all eyes are on the border, the folk are letting problems behind them get bigger and bigger until they may be too big to fix...

The Wrath of the Righteous books, of course, specifically the first one we're playing through now, The Worldwound Incursion. In a way, Kenabres' issues are microcosm of Mendev's greater problems.

Not sure what rules you want? We're using the same characters that you made for the recruitment. The kingdom building will be a modified version of the ones on the OGC/Ultimate Campaign: here. Was there something else you wanted to know about? :D

Yeah. It's going to be modified because we're probably not trying to build a whole new kingdom, but we are trying to fix the city and repair its defenses. The modifications I mentioned are that you won't be able to just "spend build points" to make buildings, you will need to actually secure the necessary supplies while adventuring; e.g. if you want to build a new barracks, you will have to scavenge wood, stone, etc. and rebuild a mostly-intact structure or build a whole new one.

In some ways this will be like a zombie apocalypse survival game, where the city is in ruins and you are trying to hastily build a new fortification for survival and then figure out your longer-term plans. Today it's survive the last stragglers from the demon army, tomorrow it's make sure you have water and a safe place to sleep, next week it's worrying about food and defensive settlements, etc.

This should be interesting in the end because the City will be prey to more demons coming though and such. Anyway I don't want to spoil anything.

I'm starting the IC stuff about 3 PM - the demons swept in just at the start of the noon festival, wrecked house on the Cathedral, fought the dragon, and then marched on after leaving the city in a totally wiped out state. Most PCs are in varying degrees of shock. Some of you are injured. Most of the city's population has been wiped out.

Oh look! Here is a map of Kenabres!

I've placed yellow text to indicate the different districts and points of interest. The park is in the southwest; the Flamekissed residence and the Northgate market are in the northern part of the city.

The city is laid out in concentric rings, with "Old Kenabres" (the original part of the city) near the middle on the west side, then successively larger rings as the city grew over time. The outermost ring is the "Gate District."

You can note Defender's Heart, the tavern where you had the party, close to the middle of the east side, in the outer ring (Gate District), marked on the map. It is a large, squat stone structure with dozens of rooms, basically a small fortress that serves as an inn and tavern. (If you've ever been to one of those swanky vineyards that is built like a castle but has a dining room and an attached expensive hotel, it's like that.)

At the outset here things will be a bit chaotic, but as we move forward groups will meet and we'll be able to get the chaos into one area. :D

Also as we move forward, I'll start tracking some other important things like... how many survivors do you have? How much food do you have? Do you have wood and stone salvaged that you can use to build new structures and fortifications? How many zombies demons have you killed?

It occurs to me that we are in one of those rare scenarios where Purify Food and Drink is quite possible the most valuable cantrip ever.
