I actually have a certain way I like to do things personally, but that looks pretty cool. I took a quick look at the character creation and that looks pretty nifty. I'll have to take a deeper look into it when I've got some time.
Thanks for the link. I'll be bookmarking that one.
GM Zed |
Hey, thanks for the selection, Zed! I appreciate it.
And I've got to SERIOUSLY clean up his alias. I'm gonna try and get that done over the next day or two.
Question:
1. How commonplace are guns here?
Once I know that, I'll be able to purchase ammo at the proper cost. I totally bought it at the wrong cost and am going to have to redo that.
EDIT: I knew I was forgetting something.
Hit points. When you say, for example, 3.5, 4.5, whatever. Do we actually do, like, 3.5 or 4.5 x 13(which is the rest of our levels)? And not like half + 1?
Apologies, took me a while to get back to this one...
Guns are commonplace...feel free to purchase your ammo at the appropriate price.
Also Hit Points should be average rounded up (so d8 is 4.5 rounded to 5, d12 is 6.5 rounded to 7, etc)....

Folks before you head out on your big adventure, could you make sure your character sheet is fully up to date (Figwidget, I think you are still showing as Level 13?).
Happy to read / watch whilst the party gets acquainted and, as soon as you are ready to go, there are mechanical horses available (previously arranged for the previous party members) to get you to your destination.
Tychi |
Just waitin gon the GM to say go.
Figwidget |
I hadn't updated my profile (I have done so now), but the full character sheet here is up to date, I belive.
Javell DeLeon |
Hey, Figwidget, were you serious about that link? Or were you just joking?
The link goes to a google search for a rather... "unclean" term, if you will.
If you where serious, I may not have access to whatever you linked to and that's where it kicked me to. Or possibly you just kicked in the wrong link, heck, I don't know.
Just fyi.
Figwidget |
Huh! Not sure how the hell that happened. Sorry about that. (I was venting my rage privately at something else I read on a different forum, but that was definitely not want I meant to cut and paste into the link here.)
Here is the link to Figwidget's character sheet.
Sorry about that! Rather embarassing cut-and-paste error there.

Click on the character sheet in my last message. That should take you to a Google spreadsheet. The "Main" tab has his primary stats, the "Abilities" tab all the feats and so forth, the "Skills" tab the skills. These tabs are found at the bottom of the sheet.
(It's a fairly anal spreadsheet....)

If you want a blank character sheet to start from, you can make a copy of this spreadsheet.
It's a bit easy to muck up, and works best once you understand it. I like it, but I find watching other people use it that they tend to put things in that break it. As a general rule of them, on *most* pages you will never put anything in a cell that has a grey background. Those are all formulae, calculated from other places. The skills page is a bit of an exception. You *never* put anything in *any* of the ranks on the skills page-- that's calculated from the "Skill Plan" page. But, you might put some things in on a feat bonus, or some such.
I find myself that it's much nicer than doing characters by hand, and indeed I like it better for the most part than using PCGen. (I haven't tried HeroLab.) But, again, although I wasn't the original author (I have edited it a fair bit, but somebody else started it), it works better if you really have a feel for the assumptions its making under the hood.

+3 (Enhancement from Weapon)
+7 (two handed Str bonus)
+12 (Power attack)
+3 (Weapon Training)
+2 (Gloves of Dueling)
+1 (Inspired Charge bonus from Nike)
x2 (Spirited Charge)
So actually, I didn't update my sheet correctly when we leveled up. :( Those two attacks should have been 12 + 7 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 31 x 2 = 56 + 2d8.
Lector Enteap |
I believe you're calculating your power attack bonus incorrectly. At a BaB of +1 with a 2-handed you add 3 to damage, and at every BaB multiple of 4 you add another 3. So with your BaB of +10 with a 2-handed weapon you would be adding 9 to damage, not 12.
I also believe you're doing your weapon training damage incorrectly. According to the Sohei archetype, you gain a +1 to hit and damage with your weapon group of choice for every 6 levels, so you should only be adding 2 to damage with your first weapon group.
Of course I could be wrong and there might be some ability that I'm not taking into account, but that is my understanding of RAW.
Tychi |
Ah, then perhaps I didn't mess up my character sheet then. I had it as +26. 31 - 3 - 1 = 27. 26 + 1 (Nike) = 27. However, my BAB becomes 14 when I flurry, and my PA should go up on a flurry. So I did mess that up, I'll have to figure that out.
Lector Enteap |
Correct, when you flurry your BaB is treated as higher than normal. But on this attack you couldn't flurry, since you can only flurry as a full attack action (I double checked here). You can't always be flurrying, so your damage modifier won't always be the same.
Tychi |
Yes, but my point was, the attack I made was correct. I need to correct my sheet for flurry, as it will be more powerful.
Lector Enteap |
No, your attack is not correct. You were unable to flurry this round so you were attacking with a BaB of +10, which means your power attack damage is 3 less than you typed in.
This is your damage when not flurrying.
+3 (Enhancement from Weapon)
+7 (two handed Str bonus)
+9 (Power attack)
+3 (Weapon Training)
+2 (Gloves of Dueling)
= +24
This is your damage when flurrying.
+3 (Enhancement from Weapon)
+7 (two handed Str bonus)
+12 (Power attack)
+3 (Weapon Training)
+2 (Gloves of Dueling)
= +27
When taking into account Nike's trait, both are 1 higher. That means you should have been adding 25 to damage (and then doubling it), not 28.
Tychi |
My apologies. Obviously I'm a moron.
On the bright side, it's a complicated build, and you messed it up too. Should be +23/+26
Lector Enteap |
You're not a moron, as you say it's a complicated build, and things get crazy at high levels. This actually reminded me that I forgot to add my weapon enchantment bonus to damage on my own sheet.
Ah, I copy and pasted from your post and forgot to edit the weapon training. Yes, 23 and 26, my bad.

Figwidget – The Cannon Golem is around fifteen feet tall
Is the platform he's standing on at ground level, or some altitude up? For some reason, I had it in my head that it's some height up, but if Tychi/Nike were able to charge it, then I suppose it can't be that high....
Tychi |
Actually, I'm hoping Nike's pulling back will pull it out of it's current spot, as it's not surroundable. Flanking would help with the 30 AC.
We're all much better off fighting it melee than ranged. 6d6 is brutal, even at our level. Melee is only 2x2d10.
Tychi |
The cannon would, I believe, use touch AC, so while I admit it's probably going to hit with everything it attacks with, the touch attacks are pretty much a given on every attack.
Tychi |
Yeah, only things with no anatomy can't be critted now (actual golems made of clay for example, or elementals or oozes). Anything with parts (like clockwork golems, undead, etc) can be critted or sneak attacked.
Tychi |
Nope, core rule book.
When you are asked to apply more than one multiplier to a roll, the multipliers are not multiplied by one another. Instead, you combine them into a single multiplier, with each extra multiple adding 1 less than its value to the first multiple. For example, if you are asked to apply a ×2 multiplier twice, the result would be ×3, not ×4.
Tychi |
Imagine a lance crit, x3 x2 = x6. Even worse, imagine a Scythe crit x4 x2 = x8. Yeah, saner this way. :)
Tychi |
I believe so.

Question: Do we still have those 18 temporary hp's? If we do(no idea on the duration on those) do I go ahead and take those off first? I don't really know anything about temporary hp's so that's why I ask. Strangely enough, I don't believe I've ever used them. :p
