Unfortunately, the bolt flew wide.

Move as shown on the map. Attack (and miss) with crossbow. It wasn't anyone's fault she missed this time (stupid, hateful RNG), but it doesn't make a lot of sense to have the only person with a cold iron weapon trying to attack at essentially a mere +1 to hit (shooting into melee without Precise Shot gives a -4 penalty, and she's only +5 with this thing). So either someone who's better with this crossbow needs to take it from her, or people who have no real hope of being effective in Melee need to stop rushing into Melee while Izra and Torin keep shooting at it. Or, I suppose we can just say "screw the cold iron," since it appears that we can hurt it without CI, and just try to pile on the damage - in which case, EVERYONE INTO THE MELEE POOL! :-)

His whiskers drooped at the idea of an evil curse weighing upon his fate, but he had no intention of leaving the Sanctum with their search uncompleted.

Rows of stone shelves fill this crowded room. Most of the books and scrolls once stored here have disintegrated over time, but a few volumes engraved on more durable materials still endure. Numerous scroll tubes litter the floor of the room amid the dusty remains of ruined paper and papyrus. A solitary door is set into the western wall.

Appraise DC 20 or Perception DC 15:

You find an unrolled papyrus scroll discarded on the floor. It describes, in Ancient Osiriani, how magicians of Osirion’s First Age could alter elementals to new forms and purposes. The text describes the concept of an ahkhat and the “keystone” that binds it to a building and pacifies it. The scroll further mentions that such keystones were frequently built into the foundations of the structure and often concealed by secret doors.

You can make one check or the other. Not both. Although realistically, I imagine you'll all choose Perception.

Kwin peers over a shoulder at the document. "Anybody able to read that gibberish?"

He slips over to the big catfolk and clasps him on the shoulder concernedly. "You gonna be okay? Nobody will fault you for heading back and getting tended to," he says quietly. "I'll go with you, if you want."

"I can read that gibberish." Ahmed replies with a mock disapproving tone, taking the scroll from Koshu as the Catfolk and Kitsune move away.

"Interesting..." He remarks. "It speaks of magicians in the First Age who could alter elementals to new forms." Rubbing his chin he continues. "This is how the Ahkhat is contained here. There is a "keystone" built into the foundation, likely behind some kind of secret door that binds the Ahkhat." As he speaks of binding, Ahmed subconsciously rubs his wrists.

"Ya whatever. We can leave that creature to haunt the building, but what else might be hiding behind that door? I think it's worth trying to find."
