Let's say the groups are on the same "time" now, so both groups can act and post.

I plan on updating both groups tomorrow, so everyone will be at the Watch (or Osric might be getting beaten up in an alley nearby)

Male sylph Alchemist (mindchemist) 5 | HP -10/33 | AC: 15 T: 13 Fl: 12 | CMB: +4 CMD: 17 | F +5 R +7 W +0 | Init +3 | Perc: -1 SM -1 | Speed 35' | Prepared Extracts: Cure Light Wounds x2, Bomber's Eye, Endure Elements, Jump, Invisibility, Bulls' Strength, Resist Energy | Bomb 8/11 Inspiration 4/4| Active Conditions: Bomber's Eye

I'll be traveling for two weeks starting tomorrow. I don't anticipate being without Internet for more than a day at a time, but it's possible, so if I'm silent for a bit that's why.

Male LG Oread Paladin (Stonelord) 5 | HP: 16/54 | AC: 17 (13 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | F: +6, R: +1, W: +6 | Init: +2 | Perc: +10, SM: +9 | Speed 20ft | Stonestrike: 5/5 | Lay On Hands 2/4 | Defensive Stance: 6/8 | Active conditions: Fatigued, 3 rnds remaining

Quick clarification: What is Gad's rank, relative to Odebie's?

Sergeant Gad vs Corporal Odebie, so he is one rank above you in the "enlisted elens" hierarchy.

To answer Byron's question:

Since oreads are lithovores, chewing sulfur is just a disgusting, smelly habit of Gad's. Most oreads stick with more common (and less offensive) rocks like granite, limestone, and quartz.

(note: I am not a geologist or anything close to it in real life, so I'm not 100% sure if sulfur is technically a "rock" or not, since it's an element)

Gentlens = "Gentle Elens", not a typo

In terms of chewing rocks, Odebie's personal preference is potter's clay - basically Oread cookie dough.

In trying to intuit v'Manco's possible locations, how about the following checks:

Fi: Knowledge Nobility (v'Manco's allies)

Odebie: Sense Motive (try to figure this guy out)

Osric: Knowledge Local (rumors that might point to his whereabouts)

Byron: Knowledge Arcana (any sort of clue as to how to track the whole ruby)

Planning on posting tonight. Long Labor Day trip + first day of school ever for my kiddo = a tired DM.

Going to the statue sounds like a good idea - well, 'good' - but I would like to see what was in that book. Don't think Odebie's the right person to be reading it, though, if only because I'm not sure his native language even has an alphabet.

Byron would help except he's going to be too busy doing ALCHEMY!!!

knowledge: history check to interpret the old text as you read, Fi.

Please let me know what weapon (if any) you each grabbed from the armory on your way out.

This came up at the other table, and I always try to cross-post so everyone has everything:

FYI: most gold coins in the land are shaped like "shields" (very similar to the old school roman shields in shape and design, but more like rounded ovals). Since Forge mines the gold and mints the currency, they have historically chosen to venerate the Warrior above all others.

Silver coins are "pots", round coins with cauldrons on one side and the Cauldron Lady's scowling face on the other.

Coppers vary a great deal, and there are some associated with all four races, but the most common type are "cloudies", old worn pieces of copper with various weather patterns crudely stamped on them (lightning, snow, rain, fog, etc)

Results:

--Byron, you successfully made all 3 cold bombs.

--Odebie, You've found a good way to approach the Slums.

--Fi, you're getting some interesting information from Fiammetta and Her Lover. The unnamed efreet stole the princess Fiammetta (ifrit society hasn't had royalty in centuries) after falling madly in love with her. The tricky efreet left evidence that a neighboring kingdom had done the deed, sparking a war between the two kingdoms.

Fiametta, left to her own devices, eventually began composing long, flattering poems expressing her love and admiration for the efreet, which left him helplessly fascinated. During one of these enamored stupors, Fiametta cut out the efreet's heart and made her escape back to her kingdom.

Most of the book is written in Ifrit, except for the poems composed by Fiametta, which are in High Ifrit. Osric helps you with these - High Ifrit is closely related to Ifrit, but there are grammatical differences that are highly counter-intuitive.

I will post tomorrow about your arrival in the Slums and such. Feel free to RP and talk a bit if you wish.

My goodness, a long day. I'm planning on posting tomorrow, hopefully earlier in the day rather than later.

Are we sure it's the necklace burning her, and not that she's just getting too close to the statue?

The necklace also burned her when Fi approached her (so either the presence of other elens or your protective field is another thing that burned her, via the necklace)

Feel free to discuss the plan a little more tonight - pretty sure I'm too busy to update.

Were there things in the hallway we could use as cover?

Sure - immobile cover would consist of more marble statues peppered here and there in the hall. Cover you could move closer to the door would include a large suit of armor on a stand, but there's a distinct possibility of making some noise when you move it.

Hmm, for some reason I could have sworn it said 8 dmg, 1/2 on a save. i must have somehow automagically processed it as if a save passed. will update with actual damage.

Fi: in terms of rest and ragesong allotment, I'm not sure, so you're going to have to go back and look yourself.

Male LN Sylph (Osric) Investigator (Empiricist) 5 | HP: 27/27 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +0, R: +6, W: +6 | Init: +2 | Perc: +12+1d6, SM: +12+1d6 | Speed 35ft | Inspiration 2/6 | Extracts: cure light wounds x4, Comprehend Languages, Resist Energy, Investigative Mind x2 x1 | Active conditions: None.

The fire damage was 16 on a failed save, not 18. Shouldn't Odebie be at 2 hp right now?

Oh man, no one can get that damage right. Odebie is at 2, and looking rather hurt!

And actually, if I'm botting him fairly, I think this would call for Lay on Hands. However, I rolled a 1.

So he is currently at 3 HP.

That was lovely, Fi. Makes up for the overabundance of natural 1s this party sees.

I'm back! I'm utterly exhausted, but back!

Awesome! Make a strength check to lift a unnaturally heavy ruby out of the gaping chest of v'Manco!

(No I am not kidding! Also, you can use up a stonestrike for +2 to the check if you wish)

Also also, you are at 3 HP currently. Possibly more if you have accepted Fi's song - I leave that to Fi to clarify.

Song will give +1 hp per level due to you the +2 con bonus, but it looks like you lose them again once I stop singing.

Welcome back!

Byron always seems to roll poorly on skill checks he's good at. XD

Okay not always, but often.

Excuse my poor songwriting, more rap battle than epic prose I'm afraid.

I think Byron took a crossbow, but I seem to have forgotten to add it to his character sheet...

We definitely need to take care of those fire elementals, but I'm out of ice bombs, so hopefully the crossbow will work.

Yeah, I'm sure you grabbed a crossbow, so feel free to write it in your sheet now.

99.9% sure on reading back through the thread, that I haven't used any rage today before this fight, last time would have been the escape from the Misters and we'e rested and had a dream sequence since them. I'll have to make sure I update more carefully in future.

She didn't start singing until round 2. So she's on 7/11 again coincidentally.

Good deal. Thanks for checking up on it.

Odebie:

Friendly reminder- you are at 3 HP, fatigued, and at 2/3 stonestrikes (I used one while you were lifting the ruby)

Fi, the last 2 rounds of directly "confronting" the efreet with your song has been draining - subtract another 2 rounds of rage song from your current supply.

The combat is now "over", but it's up to you whether you keep the rage song going to A) battle the elementals or B) run very fast up those stairs

1) I'm going to assume Osric took Odebie's advice and threw off the amulet on Karina's neck, unless told otherwise.

2) You are all Level 4! But please don't actually "level" until you rest for the night.

3) It's getting to be evening now - where are you going? Home? back to the Watch?

Male LN Sylph (Osric) Investigator (Empiricist) 5 | HP: 27/27 | AC: 16 (12 Tch, 14 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +0, R: +6, W: +6 | Init: +2 | Perc: +12+1d6, SM: +12+1d6 | Speed 35ft | Inspiration 2/6 | Extracts: cure light wounds x4, Comprehend Languages, Resist Energy, Investigative Mind x2 x1 | Active conditions: None.

Osric would take off the amulet from Karina and put it in the slag box. If it's still emitting heat or detectable magic through the box, he'd discard it.

Slag box seals off the heat and magic effectively.

Osric really loves sticking it to the Temple, and I absolutely love it.

We have a bit more denouement to do here in the next few days, but our first story arc is wrapping up soon! (and it only took a year!)

I thought that once this arc (and current day) is done, it would be a good time to fast-forward time a little bit. I want to avoid the whole "the campaign lasted for 10 years and only covered 10 days of game time" with a break between adventures.

My current thoughts:

--We'll fast forward about two weeks in game

--We will do this over the course of two weeks, with players posting summaries of what they want to do (or try to do) that day (not necessary to post everyday, you can just cover more than one day in a post if you missed a few)

----
So, with that in mind, please be thinking about:

--What do you want to accomplish now?
--What is on your mind after these last few days?
--What remaining problems do you want to solve, either personal problems or larger problems in the world?
--What elens do you want to reconnect with?

Male sylph Alchemist (mindchemist) 5 | HP -10/33 | AC: 15 T: 13 Fl: 12 | CMB: +4 CMD: 17 | F +5 R +7 W +0 | Init +3 | Perc: -1 SM -1 | Speed 35' | Prepared Extracts: Cure Light Wounds x2, Bomber's Eye, Endure Elements, Jump, Invisibility, Bulls' Strength, Resist Energy | Bomb 8/11 Inspiration 4/4| Active Conditions: Bomber's Eye

Well, Byron is rather curious about the alchemical properties of whatever residue is left of his ruby solution once it's stopped reacting. He'll probably want to study that, as well as see if it's possible to examine the ruins of that strange place v'Manco was in.

For the most part, however, Byron wants to put this distraction behind him and get back to what's important: dealing with the existential threat to elen civilization that is the Dark. That means getting back with Eldon and trying to make some progress with the white obsidian recipe. Unfortunately that may mean seeing what Helen is doing in town.
