It is Dimday, Mistrites the 28th.

Ibinu is spending his days crafting potions and learning Undine from Eo.

How quickly can you make potions? Are you asking who to donate your extra potions to, or investigating yourself?

Kallik is interested in pursuing the drug problem and learning about elen right.

Perception check to listen for rumors about the drug problem; Knowledge Religion for elen right in Hearth (since the laws are largely based on the Rove Voce, the book of Volcano.

Inam I imagine would be interested in training, and pursuing her studies of The Warrior.

Everyone seems interesting in clothes and other minor shopping.

Post a list of what you are looking for. What kinds of clothes? Traditional oread for Kallik, or something more fitting the city? etc

Who is approaching So Khong about money and training? Inam probably will if no one else does (since I am currently botting Inam as far as I know)

This is sorta complicated and will be up to you as to prices and stuffs. I'll try to get as much information posted here.

Daily Elixirs made: 1x Shield, 2x Infused (anyone can drink them) CLW (1d8+4), 2x Infused (anyone can drink them) CMW (2d8+4).
Daily Elixirs attempted sold: 1x CLW, 1x CMW
Daily Elixirs donated: 1x CLW, 1x CMW

*These Curative Elixirs may be used by anyone, but they only last 1 day so must be used almost immediately. I expect this will diminish their value, but they are also stronger than a crafted potion so that may offset that reduction.

As I only have 1g, I won't have the money to purchase materials to brew potions until I get to at least 25g earned. Once I get to that point and purchase a few other items I will start crafting potions of CLW. I can craft 1 per day assuming I have the 25g using my feat "brew potions". These potions would normally sell for 25g, so unlikely to have a chance of profit there. Plus they would be for our group when we return to doing dangerous things.

As for items purchased, he would like 3 pairs of traveler's clothes (3g total), one pair of explorer's clothes (10g) and 2x bandoliers (1g total).

When working he will rotate traveling clothes and use his leather artisan's apron. When he goes out he will wear his explorer's outfit with the 2 bandoliers stocked with his alchemical items.

As for the donations, Ibinu will ask Eo to assist his search for a good local clinic/hospital/church that would use the elixirs as fairly as possible.

And there's more!

He also wishes to get a Traveling Formula Book (10g) and some Thieve's Tools, either Masterwork (100g) or normal (30g). He isn't exactly a cat-burgler type, but for the purpose of trap disarming (I doubt his box is really openable with Disable Device, but if so he would definitely try!) or preventing his allies from kicking down a door and bringing attention to themselves if they 'need' to get into a place that is locked. Obviously most of this will depend on how much money can be accrued.

It is Fallenday, Mistrites the 30th.

Ibinu:

-----
I thought of something that helped me with the pricing of your potions. Since these are almost instantaneous (compared to potions, which last forever), the infusions are closer to "spellcasting services" than potions.

spell * caster * 10 = price

CLW = 1 * 4 * 10 = 40 price = 20 selling price

CMW = 2 * 4 * 10 = 80 price = 40 selling price

60/day * 16 days we're fast forwarding = 960 gold in your pocket
-----

Up to you how many potions of CLW you want to make - you could make up to 15 if you spend all you days (starting with "Day 2") making them. Make sure to deduct the gp cost for each one.

-----

None of those items will be hard to find, especially with Eo helping you find your way aroundthe Marketplace.

Eo will help you find a good clinic/etc too. I will post about that tomorrow.

Since Everyone is buying more clothes, I'm curious - roughly what style of clothing will you by buying (or will you get more than one style)? The two big factors I can think of would 1) What race's style and 2) Common vs Fancy

reminder on clothing by race:
Oread - Native American, especially nomadic tribes
Ifrit - Italien Renaissance
Undine - Vietnamese
Sylph - industrial-age Britain/Irish

That is an excellent thought about selling his 'casting services'. I approve wholeheartedly.

Ibinu will work until he has 10 potions of CLW accrued. He will purchase Sylph clothing. It fits better anyway.

As for Common vs. Fancy, he was thinking the traveler's outfits would be common wear and the explorer's outfit would be fancier to go out wearing. So 3 common and 1 fancy. I'll wait to add the clothing to his inventory until we get final prices on that clothing.

Update: Apparently he already had regular thieve's tools from his initial gear load. No need for MW at this point.

Sounds like Inam and Kallik are both interested in approaching So Khong about the money.

So who starts the conversation, and what do you say?

It is Rootsday, Mistrites the 32nd.

I'll be posting a more thorough "weekly results" post tomorrow. For now, check to see if there are any other checks I've asked you to do, or any brief snippets of dialogue you'd like to post.

The next day once Kallik has found somewhere to safely leave Egret for a few hours she heads out to find So Khong.

Once she has found him and secured a meeting she makes sure to keep her chin level with the floor and her eyes connected with his. There is no need for pleasantries with the unpleasant elen, "You promised us coin for our services. Which we have preformed and will continue to do so but to live in this city coin is needed."

how about a diplomacy check from both Kallik and Inam, and I'd like to hear what Inam is saying too :)

"Uh, pardon our intrusion sir." mumbles Inam, eyes averted. "As my good friend stated, we are in need of rounds to further prepare ourselves for service to 'Volcano'."

Gathering confidence as she talks, the sylph begins to sound more sure of herself. "We certainly don't wish to impose over our due funds. However, we most certainly require better materials to combat the darkness coming. We did well against the small ones we encountered, though not without sacrifice. We most assuredly would not do you well were we to all perish."

"There is also the matter of training in regards to these strange...new abilities granted by the sacred material. You've had experience in seeing what this can do to an elen. Therefore, you should be an invaluable asset in shortening the learning curve we've been set upon. If we could just have a moment to study your notes on the effects it had on our predicessors, that would be a Vulcsend."

Stepping forward, the evening she shared with Edoardo suddenly popping into her head, she bolding stares the religious leader straight in the eyes for but a moment. Her years of social etiquette screaming so loud in her head, she quickly looks away, but not before stating. "None of us asked for this. It was thrust upon as by the will of our mighty Volcano. It is YOUR duty to ensure we weild HIS weapon appropriately."

Suddenly realizing what she'd just done, the paladin involuntarily steps behind Kallik.

Etrah, normally bored by these encounters stares at Inam, beak wide open...pupils dilated. The chicken stands still as a comical Tian Xia statue, unsure how to respond to this wayward student.

So Khong's midnight blue skin, already dark for an undine, deepens nearly to black. A fat, ugly vein stands out on his forehead. His breathing quickens; his entire body tenses. Looking up at the ceiling, he takes slow, deep breaths and mutters a phrase in Undine several times: "Tôi không quan trọng...tôi không quan trọng..."

When he has gained control of himself, he looks at each of you in turn, and nods. His eyes once again assume the flat, half-lidded gaze of a disinterested predator. Leaving his door open, he wordlessly turns away from you. A moment later, he returns with a leather sack that clinks in his grasp. He throws the sack at Kallik's feet.

"Return tomorrow at this time for notes and training. Bring the other two." With surprising force for an an elen his age, he slams the door closed.

Glaring at the door and mumbling "Thank you." while bending down to pick up the bag.

Looking over at Inam, "Learn anything last night?"

Opening the bag while waiting for an answer but quickly handing over the bag, "Figure out how to split that."

Later after looking for Eo.

Tracking down Eo, "I am sorry I was cruel with you. Is there something I can do to make it up to you?"

It is Dimday, Witchrites the 4th. It is Winter.

Summary of the past week

---
Ibinu has been selling and donating elixirs. Eo helps you find a free clinic in the Healer's Square that has been doing excellent work for those wounded in the recent arena explosion (that you all investigated).

Roll an intelligence check to see how your memory is coming along.

---
Inam studies the philosophy of the Warrior daily - depending on which domain you end up choosing, this is where your studies will be concentrated

Roll a diplomacy check to gether info about the Smithrock goods around Hearth

---
Kallik spends much of her days with Egret. You find out that Egret's parents died about six months ago, and she managed to survive on her wits and the Temple's free ashbread since then. She is sweet, curious, and extremely shy around anyone except you (and usually Ibinu, Inam, and Bian, but not always). She is teaching herself how to read and write, so she remains happy when you have to go out as long as she has book, quills, and parchment. For a toy, she would probably ask for a recorder to make wonderful, wonderful music.

Roll knowledge (local) to learn more about the drug trade and elen's rights.

---
Everyone is getting to know one another better. Bian is starting to trust all of you more, and be a little less distant when talking to you.

Everyone has new clothing! For those who opted for a fancy outfit or two, just double the price of a normal outfit.

Everyone who wishes to can train with the Temple Guard in the mornings. You all see Edoardo there every few days. He is polite to all of you, and still very friendly with Inam, but he does not broach the subject of another get-together.

---
Eo is very happy to be spending time with Ibinu, teaching the sylph how to speak undine. Eo is a very patient teacher, and you feel that you have a basic grasp of "toddler's Undine" after several days.

As you all find out, the young orphan ifrit has very low self-confidence from essentially being "raised" by So Khong, who constantly berated him and told him he wasn't good enough.

Kallik and anyone else who wants to go

Eo smiles. "Listen, I get why you don't like the Temple - Inquisitor So Khong, umm, isn't very friendly. If you want to do me a favor, come with me on my rounds tonight to see the good work the Temple does."

If you go, Eo takes you around the Dims, giving out ashbread and water to the needy. He casts create water dozens of times, until his voice is hoarse. There are other Temple functionaries you see out ad about performing similar tasks.

Heal Skill is a base +8 mod. If uses of his healing kit are eaten up he has a +10 mod. Let me know if anyone accepts that needs the healing kit so I know how many charges to mark off. If enough are used he will go purchase more kits as needed.

He would also really like to keep an eye out for purchasing a "Vest of Surgery" (3000g, if it exists in this world)... though the price isn't exactly feasible right now.

At first, Inam doesn't answer her companion. It's rather easy to notice she's lost in her own head, the terror evident on her face. She mumbles "Well...I wasn't smite I guess...."

"Huh? Oh, yeah. He was trying to court me... can you imagine? An ifrit and a sylph?! What would his parents....what would my mother think?! He is cute though..."

Training

It takes Inam a day or two to summon up the courage, but ultimately she approaches the man when he's away from any overhearing elen. With her eyes averted, cheeks red, she speaks up.

"Uh, sir...Edoardo. I did enjoy our time together, but it seems you may be a bad enfluence on me." Flashing him a sideways, meek smile she continues. "I may have lost my place with So Khong...I yelled at him and, even worse...I looked him in the eyes!"

Shame showing on the paladin's face, she slips in a personal truth. "I must say it felt...liberating in a way. I know it's wrong, but..."

Eo Dims Work

"I'd be glad to lend my aid Eo!" Inam exclaims cheerily. Frowning, she inquires "But...would my presence help or disrupt your efforts?"

It is Giantsday, Witchrites the 7th.

Ibinu, your past memories are all back, except for the time of your mental transformation, give or take a candle. You are still unsure exactly where it took place. The angry, anti-social elen of your past memories seems a total stranger to you.

One clear memory from that misty time: a sylph whispering in your ear: "The name of your master will open many doors for you."

Eo continues your lessons in Undine. He continues to become more coomfortable around all of you - his stutter even improves slightly.

As for the healing, Eo procures extra healing kits from the Temple since you are performing a service, and says you shouldn't have to pay anything on top of it (so don't mark any charges down)

---
Inam, Eo helps you find a few armorers and army depots that likely deal with the Smithrocks. All of them say the same thing - over the past few weeks, Smithrock armor has all but disappeared - their production rate is less than half of what it used to be.

You continue your studies of the Warrior - in particular, you feel drawn to several passages concerning the idea of channeling some of the warrior essence through your body - showing fellow elens that your cause is a righteous one. In order to achieve this, you must steadfastly adhere to the physical and spiritual discipline that the Warrior prescribes.

Eo is happy for your help with his rounds about the Dims, although he seems a little embarrassed around you for a few days after your date with Edoardo.

Edoardo laughs at your confession. Not in a cruel way - he can see your sidelong smile. "Ehhh, So Khong has nothing but bad sides, I think. Keep running circles around him and maybe you find a good side."

---

Kallik, Eo looks like he is about to hug you, then thinks better of it and gives you a friendly clap on the shoulder. "Well, you changed your mind based on what you've seen. So Khong never changes his mind, so I'm pretty sure I know who I'd rather be spending my time with." He smiles.

As you read texts in the Temple library and talk to Eo about how Hearth works, you are surprised to learn that there are no formal laws in place codifying the "second-class" situation of the sylphs. It seems to be a purely social convention. There are a few guard commands -- The Dims Watch in particular -- that meticulously follow the law, regardless of an elen's heritage. It is the unfortunate fact, however, that many of the others --the Temple Watch especially-- that have a history of treating ifrits as above the law.

As for the drug trade, that would have to be covered once our 2 week period is done with. Let's say for now you've heard of the Dims Watch doing some good things in the past few weeks to curb the Gasp trade in Hearth, and that would be a good place to start if you are still interested.

----

Everyone is training daily in the mornings. You finally feel that you are truly mastering your individual weapons, and learning how to work as a team (during the times you drill together).

During this first week of winter, there is the "Turning of the Seasons" celebration in the Great Marketplace. Entertainers crowd every available corner; vendors give out free samples of their winter recipes; and the ever-present priests wander from street to street and offer prayers for another season of protection under Volcano.

Are you interested in attending, or are the crowds intimidating? What would your character most like to do during a festival?

If I dig back through the archives will I find the name of my master... or is it So Khong?

Ibinu will happily go experience the festival. He is interested in food, games, new experiences. When his memories flood back, he immediately goes and apologizes to all his teammates for being stand-off-ish. He tells them he still isn’t sure what happened to change his personality so drastically but he hopes it is permanent and assures everyone he is enjoying his second chance.

You never had what you considered a "master" in your previous life, and you're not 100% sure what So Khong's name is supposed to do for you (or if that is even the right answer). Right now you know with relative certainty it is something one of the sylph-surgeons said to you.

Wisdom?: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0 Inam fails to notice Eo's reaction to the date. :-P

"Eo, would it be feasible for me to send a letter to my family through the temple?" she inquires, the potential reasons of the slow down troubling her thoughts. "I wouldn't want to be a burden. If it's too much, just say so."

Edoardo

Grinning in spite of herself at his statement, she offers "He can't be all bad. Volcano did choose him for a rather difficult task. Not many could handle the weight of the world on their shoulders. But I appreciate the sentiment."

Festival

'Well, there will be a lot of elven there...especially ifrits. Perhaps I should stay away.' considers Inam. Her mind drifts back to the lectures of her mother again. 'You must always make an appearance when there is a big festival. Even if you don't do it for you you MUST do it for the family name. If they feel the Smithrocks don't care about their needs, they won't buy from us. Aside from that, how can Sky ever return if you don't show homage to the one that bore us?!'

Nervously chuckling at the though, she frowns. "Yes mother." 'I suppose Edoardo could go with me. It may reduce the ire of a sylph among them if accompanied by one of the guard...not only that but a rightful ifrit!'

The day before the festival, she corners Edoardo again. "Uh, would it be too much trouble to ask...if...well...." trailing off, she finds it's hard to voice her request. 'Why can't it be easy? I've fought darkspawn and watched my friends die...but I can't ask someone to take time out of their day?!'

Taking a deep breath, looking at her feet, Inam clears her throat. "Would you go to the festival with me and my companions? I expect you know the best places to check out."

Inam: Eo agrees to send a letter for you. What do you want the letter to say?

After a brisk morning of training, Inam asks her question. Edoardo lights up and laughs, throwing his head back. "What a wonderful festival gift you have given me! Of course! Tonight, we have fun - you, me, and your friends too, si?"

It is Rootsday, Witchrites the 8th. Back to normal time.

It is eighteenth candle.

I assume everyone is going, let me know if you are not.

That evening, the innumerable tents of the Marketplace flutter and snap as they are buffeted by gusts of wind. Suspended in the air above are hundreds of dancing lights casually conjured by the vendors, merchants, and street performers who possess the tiny spark of magic common to elenkind. Red torches, glowing blue crystals, and even bright yellow and purple sylphan fireworks all vie for the crowd's attention.

Mellow guitars, shrill flutes, deep orean drums, and exotic undine stringed instruments blend together with the roar of laughter and conversation. Ifrit bards take requests from passers-by to produce ghostly piano music, disembodied tiger growls, and heavenly choirs. Undine water-singers make water and ice dance, creating miniature tragedies and love stories to accompany their somber songs.

Red ifrits, blue undines, brown oreads, and white sylphs are all present in droves, and nearly all are bundled beneath winter clothing. The ifrits favor stylish, dark woolen coats, while the oreads simply add another layer of leather and fur on top of what they already have on. Sylphs appear deceptively bulky wearing scarves, gloves, greatcoats, and boots, all made from soft pale cotton. Undines, least affected by the cold, wear slightly thicker robes than usual, but otherwise give little heed to the weather.

Guards of all Watches can be found roaming the grounds, looking out for pickpockets, troublemakers, and drunks. Sweepers, mostly sylphs, can be found muttering to themselves as they coax the wind to clean the detritus of the festival off the cobblestones. Flaman can be seen almost everywhere - their smiling faces, warm kilns, and free ashbread a signature sight in Hearth.

Moving through the whirls and eddies of the mob of elens is a slow process, so there is plenty of time to take in the sights of individual tents. The food vendors are most active, showing off new recipes: hot chocolate with cinnamon, and a stronger spice; buttery roasted pogona legs; noodle soup from an undine chef; a hot apple-and-strawberry cider; mint ice cream with a minor prestidigitation to taste warm rather than cold.

Scattered throughout the streets are stone Tornarecasa playing boards, flanked by stone benches. Older ifrits flock to these, their breath steaming as cold hands roll dice and click the ceramic disks back and forth across the rows of brown and red triangles. Several informal games of brutbreve are played on the wide venues by children of all the races, their cheeks flushed by the cold. Ibinu will try about all of the food options and if allowed talk with the vendors at length about the various combinations of ingredients used to evoke the flavors he is tasting. He goes back for at least 2nds and maybe 3rds of the 'warm' mint icecream. In between food indulging he merely enjoys the sights and sounds. His memories of festivals tend to be more on the vendor side and less on the reviler side, so it is amazing to have money in his pockets and things to splurge on.

He only brought about 50g and it is split up and hidden in multiple pockets to reduce the chance of a pickpocket getting it all.

When not training Kallik can be found reading in the libary with Egret though their reading material is vastly different. Making sure to note the book and page to quote to Inam about the lack of justification for the accepted bigotry against the sylph.

Taking a day to wander around the city with Egret to buy clothing. Mostly letting Egret pick out her clothing since it does not matter to her. Happy to indulge the youth.

Looking down at Egret, "Would you like to take a break from your reading and go to the festival with me?" Assuming Egret want to go Kallik happily attends.

Only taking around 100gp and scattering it in various pockets but her attention is dominated by making sure nothing happens to Egret. More than happy to buy various foods though the icecream is far to sweet for her the noodle soup is wonderful.

Egret 'borrows' bites of ice cream from everyone who buys a scoop.

"Can I borrow a bite, Ibinu?"
"Can I borrow a bite, Sissy?"
"Can I borrow a bite, Eo?"

The sylph child insists on staying out until she quite literally falls sleep on her feet, leaning against Kallik as she does so. She is light enough for Kallik to carry in one arm, her curly black hair tickling your neck as she lightly snores.

Edoardo's attention is focused almost solely on Inam. Though he is polite, even friendly, if the others converse or ask him questions, it is obvious he is still mostly interested in the female sylph. He leads all of you to various sights: water-singers, fire-eaters, and even a puppet-show for Egret. Most of the show involves Sippy the Sylph, who keeps tripping over his long, stork-like legs as he attempts to chase after ifrit girls. Edoardo speaks to many of the vendors with familiarity, and ends up buying a small pearl bracelet for Inam. He refuses to say how much it cost, and is laughingly insistent that she takes it.

Bian is happy to take place in the various conversations. She talks to Ibinu more in-depth about undan cuisine, including the philosophy of balancing various tastes, textures, and spices in order to ensure spiritual and physical well-being. Ibinu and Bian become engrossed in a debate as to whether an elen can truly worship more than one god. At one point, Bian laughs, rolls her eyes, and says, "Dần độn! (dummy!)" in undine. Without missing a beat, Ibinu replies, "Không phải tôi! (not me!)", which takes Bian off-guard. She laughs uproariously, even snorting a few times.

Eo, more at ease with all of you now, shows he has a talent for mimicry as well as languages. His impressions include Vecc, the old ifrit you met several days ago; a few of the vendors you meet; and after looking over his shoulder, he even does a surprisingly good version of So Khong. Egret giggles at Eo's female voices. Ibinu, you catch him mocking Edoardo under his breath a few times when the older ifrit is out of earshot.

Taking in the sights, Inam is unable to hide how impressed she is at the skills presented. "Wow! I could never do something like that." she remarks at one of the water benders.

Giggling at the puppet show, she smiles "I don't think that represents all sylph, but I am not the most...dextrous person." She does converse with Edoardo quite a bit, thanking the ifrit profusely for showing her and her companions around during the festival. "You really mustn't." she presses when offered the necklace. "Its really not....proper for a sylph especially..." she tries to explain, but ultimately laments. "It is quite beautiful Edoardo." she marvels.

"Ibinu, I don't know what exactly happened to you, but I must say...you have really come out of your shell lately. It's nice to see you so...open? I had no idea you were this talented. And Eo, you are truly gifted."

The servant of Volcano sent out of the forge itself seems unimpressed by the festival. Spending most of it's time napping on Inam's shoulder, it occasionally jerks awake as the elen squeals with glee.

Rolling it's eyes at the easily amused paladin, it looks to the glowing embers from whence it came, pondering, 'BuKaw...BaWK caw brrrawwk?!' Shaking his head, Etrah buries his face in his wings and nods off again.

The festival activities come to an end, and elens all across Hearth go to bed in various states of exhaustion and inebriation...

It is Ashday, Witchrites the 9th.

It is seventh candle.

Inam, there is a message for you from So Khong slid under the door.

Inam:

Inam Smithrock,

Come to my chambers at ninth candle. We discussed briefly in the past the potential for the wielder of that sword to achieve great things. I would now discuss them further. You may bring the chicken as well.

--Inquisitor So Khong

Kallik, you've been listening for gossip regarding the drug trade around Hearth. Eo tells you a major bust of a Gasp ring occurred over the weekend - the Dims Watch took out a major Gasp dealer named Corazon. Details are a little fuzzy, but it sounds like Corazon was dabbling in dark magic on top of being a drug dealer.

Ibinu, out of curiosity, have you told anyone about the few things you do remember about your 'transformation day', like the snatches of memory you have from that time, and the locked box you have in your possession? If you told Bian, for instance, she would be happy to help you figure out where you might have been operated on, or how to figure out that box.

I would have shared the information about the box with Kallik and probably not Inam or Eo yet. I don't have the history tracked down about Bian, is she a follower of Volcano? If she isn't, then yes I would have shared the information with her. If she is then go ahead and roll a 33% chance (I generally treat lows as positive, so 1-33 would equal yes) to see if he would have randomly let it slip and then told her.

I have not shared with anyone except Etrah information about the location and details around my 'mind altering' experience.

You told the chicken about that experience?

I'm quite intrigued about the chicken's mysterious information... :-P

At the end of the festival, Inam thanks Edoardo again for guiding them through the festivities and bids his feet a solid, bashful good night. ;-)

Upon returning to their quarters, she kneels down and picks up the mysterious letter, reading the words scrawled within. 'May bring the chicken? Was there a chance I'd go anywhere without Etrah?' she considers, raising an eyebrow.

Looking to Ibinu and Kallik, she smiles. "I found this evening enjoyable. I hope you all did as well. Seems I have errands to run in a bit. I think I"ll do my nightly studies a bit early." Sitting on the edge of her hard bed, she tugs out the two pamphlet's she'd acquired and begins pursuing them.

Assuming nothing else occurs...she will gladly discuss with her companions anything they wish, though absentmindedly as her thoughts drift to the note and her studies. If asked, she'd even tell them "Huh? Oh, So Khong asked me to stop buy to discuss something..." but she'd insist on gong with just Etrah as her accompaniment

Quietly gathering her things, so as to avoid waking the youngling, she moves towards the door...dropping her sword halfway there. Quickly scooping it up and sheathing it, she stands still for a moment. Red faced, she slips out into the corridor and picks her way through the halls of the Temple towards the elen's chambers.

Once outside, she looks to Etrah and takes a deep breath. "Well, here goes nothing." she whispers and gently knocks on the door.

Conversation with Ibinu...

Nodding his head, Etrah listens to the sylph divulge his secret. Cocking his head, he inquires "Caw bu Kaw?" nodding again a few minutes later. Intrigued Ibinu shared this tidbit with him, he understood the desire to keep it secret and said nothing to Inam afterwards.

After the festival

Snoozing comfortably as Inam struggles through her goodbyes and thanks, he rides along. Waking with a jolt as she retrieves the letter, having nearly fallen off her shoulder. "BuKaW BAWK!" he exclaimed. Spying the words penned by So Khong, he rolls his eyes before setting back in for a short nap.

At So Khong's Door

Noting the elven was in need of his support, he summons of Volcano's will and with a soft "Cluck" passes it on into his apprentice. Cast Guidance on Inam

As she hesitates, he nods to the door and awaits the ifrits reply.

So Khong opens the door. Even in the morning, his demeanor is unchanged: his old face is neither refreshed from sleep nor tired from the early hour. Torchlight from down the hall reflects off his deep blue skin, giving the illusion it is an ifrit's red tone.

"Sword-wielder. Would you join me in morning prayer to Volcano?"

Ibinu get with the sharing then :)

Happy with the weight of Egret on her right arm once the child starts to stagger around tiredly. Nodding to Inam, "This was a lot of fun. Good luck with your errands." Not bothering to ask Inam about it, the sylph will share when she is ready.

Tucking Egret into bed and stretching out herself. Sitting up quickly on the noise and glancing at the still sleeping Egret, "Be safe Inam."

Laying back down and speaking up just before Inam goes out the door, "I would like to talk with you and Ibinu tomorrow."

Inam

So Khong's quarters are austere. There is a writing desk in one corner, an altar to Volcano in another corner, and an undyed wool blanket upon the hard obsidian of a third corner.

"I will instruct you in prayer appropriate to Volcano for one of your...blessed status. Kneel at the altar, close your eyes, and repeat after me." He makes a small motion of his hand toward the altar, which is simply a rectangular piece of obsidian inlaid with a red triangle.

Kallik and Ibinu

Bian, sharing your quarters by order of Inquisitors So Khong and Ly Tri, stretches and blinks groggily. "Good morning, friends. I...had a strange dream about...the four elens we discussed with my master, Inquisitor Ly Tri. I know we should not draw attention to that building, but I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Should we check on it, or am I just being silly?"

"...very good. We'll have you on your feet in just a few minutes..."
"...rest of your day. And here is your portion of the promised material..."

Ibinu, you are...disoriented. You are still in Hearth. You see the Great Temple in the distance, and have the vague notion that is where you are currently living.

Some details begin to come into focus. Your old curse; the uncontrolled rages; the alchemists and doctors in the old military hospital that were so interested, and eager to help.

You swear the doctor was next to you a moment ago, but judging from how cold you are, it is likely you've been standing here for several minutes, or even half a candle. A winter wind gusts for a moment, then the day is still again.

You may be able to find your way back to the hospital, but there is no guarantee. To the south and east, you see great billowing tents - a marketplace of some kind. To the south, great plumes of steam rise endlessly, obscuring your view of half the city. Close to the north are the city walls, and beyond that a gargantuan statue depicting a sinister cloaked figure hunched over a cauldron. A trick of the light makes it seem as if the gruesome hag is looking directly at you. To the southwest looms the Great Temple, huge obsidian blocks reflecting the yellow-orange light of Volcano, far to the north.

Later, Ibinu discovered a locked box that he couldn't get open and he believes is related to the "Promised Material".

Currently

Ibinu looks up from his station of chemicals as Bian wakes up. "Well that sounds like a good enough reason to check on the bodies. Let me finish up here and get packed up in case I need my stuff and we will go." Ibinu finishes his daily elixir prep and packs up everything into his backpack. It hangs heavy onto his shoulders, but he thinks he is starting to get used to the weight.

Inam, Etrah gives out a terrified "CAW!" There is a meaty squish. You open your eyes and turn, still on your knees, to see Inquisitor So Khong holding a glittering stiletto blade. The tip of the blade is dripping with blood, and Etrah lies twitching on the floor.

There is no expression on So Khong's face. His eyes are those of a crocodile waiting out its prey. "Your guide has saved your life, for the moment. You are not worthy of the Blessing. Turn around and give your heart's blood to Volcano."

Etrah is at -1 HP

Ibinu, Kallik:
Bian leads you to the featureless obsidian cube in the vast courtyard of the Temple. She closes her eyes and concentrates for a moment. She sighs in relief and nods. "No one has touched the wards, and there is no way to get through true obsidian." Opening the door with her key, she continues, "I'd like to make sure the bodies are still well preser-" She stops mid-sentence. Following after her, you see the reason for her shock.

Three of the corpses are gone. The remaining body, the oread, is standing upright and unmoving in the middle of the room. Its eyes are closed.
