Slurk save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
The large slurk blinks dumbly at the rainbow of colors emanating from the elf's hands, and then rises out of the water and barrels his way toward her. He looks like a monstrous, muscular and warty frog with huge curved tusks.
bull rush: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
She dodges the large creature but is hit by a blast of slime from the little one. She feels the goo harden, slowing her movement.
The others are 100' away. Acrobatics DC10 to approach at faster than walking pace.
Shorga Brull |
"Mother of Shlurk." Shorga curses loudly and attempts to spring into the saddle to get to Rena. Ride-Fast Mount DC20: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Yay! free action!
He wishes he had time to bring someone along with him, and so reaches a hand down to pull Kalum into the saddle with him even as he kicks Ursa into motion. "Grab ahold Kalum!"Pull Kalum into saddle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Need GM ruling on that one.
Realizing the dire straights Rena is in all by herself he urges Ursha to the greatest possible speed, even as her hooves slip on the squishy, slippery ground. Acrobatics (Ursa): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 A double move from Ursa would get us 100', I think.
I think Shorga has no more actions left at this point.
If attack is possible
Ride-Guide with Knees DC5: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Shorga pulls his falchion into position even as they barrel through the sloggy swamp, murky water and mud kicking up in all directions. He raises it high as they close on the giant frog-beast.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 and Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8

The cavalier reacts quickly, springing into the saddle and pulling up Kalum in a smooth motion. The horses moves are swift and sure as he navigates the narrow strip of land. Shorga's blade swings at the creature but the swing is wide. Icarus follows at a run and arrives a few moments later.

Round 2 - On his turn
Shorga sidles Ursa over a few feet closer to Rena so he can better defend her. (5' step to be adjacent to her)
Ride guide with knees DC5: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
He raises his hands again, trying to bring the falchion down on the disgusting toad-thing. Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 and Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
Shorga urges Ursa to attack with a slight pressure on her shoulder, and the large horse lunges forward, her teeth snapping.
Ride Fight w/Mount DC10: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Ursa Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 and Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
During it all Shorga keeps an eye on the frog, ready to assist his allies should the thing attack. Bodyguard feat lets me roll an assist roll to increase adjacent allies AC by 2 if they are attacked. I'm picturing Shorga being next to Rena, Kalum, and Ursa at this moment. So stay close!
EDIT: Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 and crit damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7
Grenadel "Rena" Aeleanir |
I may have missed a map. Assuming no AoO is provoked... Color Spray from Arcane Bond.
Bolstered with confidence at her allies' approach. Rena repositions herself as needed, trying to get both slurks in the AoE. She will choose the larger slurk if that is not possible. Again, she produces sand... blows.
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8 |
Sorry, I haven't come up with a good system for mapping yet. You are pretty much in between them.
Big slurk save: 1d20 ⇒ 7
The large slurk falls unconscious and begins to sink back into the marsh. The smaller one jumps away, frightened by the commotion, and disappears into the water. The large one settles unconscious, half submerged in the water near Ursa.
Shorga Brull |
Shorga hops down, grabs a rope and begins to tie the creature up, intending to have Ursa drag it out once the thing has been secured. "Help me tie it!"
Grenadel "Rena" Aeleanir |
Slowed by the damn slime and feeling as old as the witch typically looks... Rena makes her way to assist Shorga. The slurk is big, so she helps pass the rope over and under the creature.
"Should probably use another rope to bind its jaw shut. Those teeth or tusks, whatever they are... look dangerous."
Shorga Brull |
Once we feel it's been sufficiently frog-tied Teehee! Shorga wraps the rope around the pommel of the saddle and drags the slurk along behind back to the woman who requested it. He eyes the oozing goo distrustfully, "That is an ugly slurk. Let'sh try to keep it unconcioush on the way back.."

reposting from the discussion thread
You manage to tie up the slurk, hindered slightly by the slippery slime coating his underside. Soon after, it awakens and begins to struggle....
Escape Artist DC 25: = 18
but the ropes remain secure. Falling back on his natural defenses, he squirts a coat of stickly slime from nodules on his back, enveloping those nearby.

Next up - Reknaork. Nightmare/Horseman has 15ft reach.
Damn it... sorry guys. That'll teach me to try to reply to two different threads simultaneously late at night.
"Well done everyone! Can anyone see the baby Sl - erk!" Kalum gets a mouthful of slime while he's talking.raw dex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"Shomeone knock that thing out!" Shorga stop Ursa, draws his mace and heads over to knock the thing senseless.
Can I coup de gras it and do nonlethal?
Attack - Mace (nonlethal): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 No prone, or defenseless bonuses added.

Shorga Brull |
Panting and sucking in great breaths, goo completely covering his six foot frame, the heavy mace, and much of his horse. Running his hand over his face, he wipes as much from it as he can, flings the remnants onto the slurk and urges Ursa to continue dragging the slurk back alive.
Shorga Brull |
Shorga just turns and glowers at Icarus as he leads Ursa down the road, spitting a little more goo from his mouth as he turns back forward.

The witch is busily stirring something in her caldron when you return. She calls to you to let yourself in. Her cat starts yowling at the slurk. She turns and her eyes widen momentarily. "Well, I didn't expect you to bring him back alive! Just a sample of slime would have done." She rummages around for some vials and expertly collects some samples of sticky goo and slippery grease. She offers you a couple of vials of each. "You never know when this might come in handy." She stares at the slurk and makes some hand motions. "He shouldn't wake up for a while, if you want to return him to the lake. I certainly don't want him wallowing around in my garden. Or we could cook him up if you like...I think I have a recipe for slurk soup around here somewhere."
Picked out any wands? Shipment is ready to go when you are.
Icarus Ras'Drexel |
"I know what wands I would like personally, but this should be a group decision, Keep in mind that Rena and I, and possibly Kalum depending on the spell selected are the only ones able to use the wands. Do we want, offensive, defensive, or situational?"
Shorga Brull |
The cavalier sighs as he realizes he now needs to drag the thing back to the swamp, not having the heart to just kill it outright. Unless someone stops him... and GM, let me know if this is taking too much liberty Once he's back with the others and the slurk slumbering at the edge of the swamp, "Pershonally, defenshive sheems to come in handy mosht often, but that'sh jusht one opinion."

Shorga thanks the witch profusely for the two wands, and is continually wiping the slime off of himself as he prepares himself and Ursa to continue on. Turning to his companions, "Sho, where are we off to now? That sheemed to take forever."
So 1 wand of CLW and the other we're still deciding. Lets not have it hold up moving on.
Shorga Brull |
She gestures at a stack of small crates. "These are the items I need delivered, to my sister over in the Verduran Forest."
Shorga leads the carriage, his lance held upright, as they set off for the Verudan Forest, the stack of crates secured inside the transport.
Just nudging us along a little :)
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8 |
Agatha thanks you for a job well done and presents you with two wands. They look like simple twigs but they are genuine. You get the crates loaded into the wagon, making it a little cramped inside. The weather is good for traveling and the sun filtering through the trees makes this part of the forest less foreboding than last night. You pass through the area of webs without incident and are making good time.
Let's have some perception rolls.
Did we have a layout established already? Is it like a stagecoach with seats facing each other or more like a SUV with cargo area in the back?
Shorga Brull |
I've always thought of it more like the SUV with cargo area... but I don't recall anyone ever actually saying that.
Shorga tries to keep his eyes peeled for trouble, riding about 10 to 15' ahead of the carriage.
Shorga Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Ursa Perception (assist): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 success!
Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8 |
You have traveled south through the spidery area and now turn east.
Shorga, that's fine with me to roll for Ursa. I will try to start doing stuff like perception and initiative checks myself when I can to avoid delays, but I need to make a little chart of everyone's bonus when I have time.
Apologies if I don't get some of the local geography/culture/etc. right. I don't have much play experience in Golarion. Anybody know how far it is in travel time from Darkmoon Wood to the Verduran Forest?
Shorga Brull |
I do not know the direction... :(. As for our perception and init stats, you could have everyone do a version of Shorga's stat line under his name.

I'd have to look it up. Honestly we probably care more about the number of encounters than pure distance :)
Wand wise, how about we hand in the second one to cover the share we have to play the Guild, and the extra can be an advance on our next payment?Wolfwaker RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8 |
After a couple of days you emerge from the forest heading east and approach the Andossan River. The river is crossed by ferry and you make good time towards the town of Carpenden as you pass farms and vineyards. This will give you the opportunity to shop if you like, as well as stay at an inn instead of camping in the forest. There is an inn near the outskirts of town or you can find somewhere near the town square.
Shorga Brull |
Earlier, responding to Kalum
"Well, that shounds shensible to me!"
At the town of Carpenden
As they ride closer Shorga looks into his mostly empty coin purse and looks ruefully at the shops and stalls where he'd have enjoyed to spend a little coin, but is unable to do so. "Shall we sell the wand then? I wonder where one shells shomething like that."
He leans over the saddle to address a passerby, "Excushe me, shir, ish there a magic shop of shome short nearby?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

A soldier dressed in the uniform of Andor directs you to a small shop a couple of streets away from the main town square. A short gnome (short even for a gnome) with a fanciful curled mustache greets you. He seems to have a decent selection of odds and ends. He offers you 400 gold each for the wands.
