Shorga moves Ursa back to an acceptable distance and immediately slides down to tend to his stalwarts steeds wounds. He distractedly watches the group of faeries bind the redcap, somehow, and as Kalum approaches the dangerous thing, "Shorry, should I be apologizing for anything?" The cavalier is clearly out of sorts with his mount in so much pain. "Can anyone help Ursha here pleashe?"

Male Human Factotum Lvl 4; Hp15/28, Perception4 Int2, Fort2 Ref5 Will4, AC16 T12 F13,

Otis cautiosly steps forward, looking at his feet.
"I suppose it's me who should apologize. I'm sorry, I did not know what we were up against and did not do it on purpose."

The healing by the fairy elder seems to have worked wonders for Ursa, who seems in perfect health again.

The little fairy seems to have overcome some of his timidity since the redcap was incapacitated. He even lands on Shorga's shoulder and sits. Speaking in Sylvan, he accepts the apologies of the group and thanks them for saving him. He gives Shorga a tiny whistle with instructions to blow it if you need his help while you are in this part of the woods.

If everyone could tell me their hp or someone wants to tabulate it that would be good.

Ursa is 25hp, and Shorga is 20hp.

Initially Shorga is startled by the fluttery fairy, but he steels his instinct to jerk away as the little thing perches on him. "Sho why wash the redcap after you little one?" he asks, hoping the thing speaks common. He lifts the whistle up before his face to inspect it, wondering what sort of help this creature could provide.

Facing the others when the conversation with the fairy is over, "Shall we pressh on?" Just stating my readiness, not trying to rush anyone.

Assuming everyone is ready to move on. I have no idea what time it is so I will assume midday unless the time was stated earlier.

The fairy flies off and the group continues on the path. After a while, the carriage arrives at a small stream where it is possible to wash up and clean the remaining wounds a bit better, and to let the horses drink their fill. According to the map, you are in the general vicinity of the bees.

Perception <5:

You look around, but are unable to see the forest because of all the trees.

Perception DC 15:

From the canopy you can hear a humming or buzzing sound which could possibly be from a large bee.

Perception DC 20:

You catch a glimpse of a giant honeybee flying off on the other side of the stream.

Know: Nature 15 or Prof: Driver 10:

Fording the stream here with the carriage looks like a fairly difficult maneuver that risks getting stuck (Driver DC 15), although a horse and rider could manage it easily.

Otis has an effective +14 on Drive with the carriage, so should auto-pass the crossing DC. (base 6, +2 from the rogue talent, +4 from the feat, and -2 to DC from the Driver archetype ability)
Otis wanders into the stream and walks thigh-deep there for a while.

Shorga listens to the various bits of information, "I would be in favor of a resht. Ursha ash well. Perhapsh we can ford thish river and tackle the problem of the beesh in the morning?" No time limit imposed that I recall, so I say we try to heal up the injured a bit.

You can rest here if you want. You catch occasional glimpses of bees but they don't seem to take any notice of you at the moment.

By patiently waiting, you are able to spot a couple of bees and follow them back to their hive. It is about 200 yards up the path, around a gentle curve and thus out of sight of the carriage. They seem to live in the remains of a massive lightning-scarred dead tree, now covered in vines. There is a large hole in the trunk about 15-20 feet up, just above a sturdy branch, that allows entry. The bees come and go but you don't see more than two to four at a given time flying around the outside.

To reach it would take 3 climb checks of DC15, or perhaps you can use equipment to simplify this. Also a stealth check to avoid alarming the bees.

After checking his Pathfinder's kit and finding that it does not include a rope, Otis will return to the group and ask for assistance in climbing.

"Otis, if worst comes to worst, I can probably outrun them and hide underwater for a few minutes. I'm not a great climber though - but I am a great faller! Actually, if you're climbing and there is a chance you might have to jump I might be able to help you."

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

Otis is able to cautiously climb to where he can peek through to the hole. His head reaches the level of a large branch which is a few feet below the hole. The bees are beginning to become more active and he feels like they will become aggressive if he climbs any higher.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

What happened to my post? It shows up in the recent post list but it's not here!

Kalum catches a couple of small fish that are not worth cooking, but he finds some berries to supplement the rations.

Otis is able to climb up near the hole in the trunk. There is a broad limb he could stand on to reach inside but he senses that if he climbs onto that limb the bees will probably become agressive. They are already starting to grow more restless.

A belated realization that he has no idea how wild honey is actually gathered dawns on Otis, but it's too late to retreat. He rummages through his pockets until he produces a length of string, and makes an impromptu lasso out of it, all the while balancing on the branches. Once done, he attempts to throw the string inside the hole and pull for whatever comes out, hoping for the best.

For Rena:

Previously, back in Almas...

You show up at the Trade Guild Office asking about the advertisement. The gnome seneschal starts to turn you away, then he remembers something. He invites you in and asks about your abilities. Hearing you are a practicioner of magic, he seems satisfied. "There is an elf named Kiren Tanariel who is with one of our crews. Apparently he is needed for some important business back in Kyonin. Take this letter to him. You can take his place." He pulls out an envelope sealed with wax. I will give you directions to the lumber camp where they are making their next delivery.

Showing you to the stables, "You can ride?" Not waiting for an answer, "No matter, this horse should be no trouble."

You arrive at the lumber camp a couple of days later, sore from the ride. Asking around, you find out where the carriage has gone. You can wait here or ride out and look for them.

Sorry I've been a bit slow, the work monster demands time sacrifice

Bracing himself, Otis steps on the branch. "Cut, jump, run. Cut, jump, run." he mutters to himself in effort to be done with the deed in the quickest possible manner. He pulls out a dagger and swiftly cuts off a chunk of the honeycomb, then attempts to not panic as the huge bees are upon him. He slides off the rope, burning his palms, and makes a run for it, screaming loudly to warn the others of his appearance.

Moving quickly, Otis is able to slice off a nice piece of the honeycomb. He slides down the rope and starts to run back to camp as at least three bees start to chase him.

Shorga, waiting by the tree, gets an action as Otis slides down and the bees begin to chase.

It is 500 feet from the tree to the stream.
Stream is 10' wide (Walking pace, or Acrobatics DC10 to run, or DC15 if you are small)
Camp is adjacent to the stream on the other side.

You can run at 4x your speed (3x in heavy armor).

I want try something awesome, which is rush over to Otis, hoist him onto Ursa with me, and run to the stream. Mechanically I don't know how it'd work. I would like Shorga to either have been in position to jush run past Otis and head straight to the stream, if I have to stop and turn around that'll be less cool, but understandable.

Shorga, elated at seeing Otis emerge, frowns as he seems to be chased. He digs his heels into Ursa's flanks and accelerates quickly towards Otis. The Cavalier leans over as he approaches the fleeing driver, and seeing the bee's hot on his trail attempts to grab the man mid-gallup. "Jump on! And keep the honey above the water!" he shouts even as he barrels in alongside the man.
