I feel there is a bit of an overlap with Icarus in the skills department, would you mind if I switched something around? Say, Disable Device - don't think we need two people with it.

I was also thinking of going multi or prestige after level 3, perhaps going ranger/horizon walker.

Belated Thank You on choosing Shorga for this one, I know it wasn't an easy decision! Everyone, I'm excited to play with you! I'm pretty excited for this group as well, I have played with Voice as a DM before and he is a good one, constantly asking for group feedback and he listens to what you want to do as a player. I look forward to adventuring with you all.

My character is going to be a little idiosyncratic as well as he is a master of disguises and making people believe that he is something that he is not, since he actually has abilities from multiple classes, as such when he first meets everyone he will be telling them that he is someone and something else.

Thanks! I am very excited. After about 20 years of not playing RPGs I have become quite fascinated with Pathfinder and have been running games at home for my boys, but this will be my first chance to play (other than adventures the boys made up). Otis - massaging characters is 100% allowed. So switch away.

I'm fairly open when it comes to character modification even after we get underway, so just ask if you'd prefer to have a particular ability changed out.

Icarus - the questions will come out as we progress really, but for 1st level as long as your sheet has full details of what you're capable of at first level we should be ok.

Eg. for arcane dilettante - is that limited to arcane / divine alone or is it open?

Kiren - a Factotum is essentially an everyman. Can pick what he's good at to suit the situation presented before him, and by the time the next fight rolls around it may change again. It's a 3.5 character class that Icarus will be updating to Pathfinder compliance.

Some questions:

Working on my inventory, looks like an alchemist's lab will take up 200gp of my cash. How detailed do I need to get...do I need to list numbers of flasks and so forth? Is there some standard equipment pack like the adventurer's kit in the Starter Set?

Can I specify an archetype now? I would like to take Grenadier.

Can I change a trait? I'm not sure that perform ability will be useful, I have a poor charisma and no class skill in it.

Any advice from my colleagues on equipment (or selection of extracts if I can change those)?

Am I allowed to prepare multiples of one extract?

The 200gp version is a big kit, I think there is a 75gp compact version as well that may save some cash. No need for fine detail - just list the kit, it's assumed you've a inexhaustible quantity of little flasks and such for bombs / extracts.
There is a Pathfinder kit for 12gp that is in one of the supplement books. It has the basics like bedroll, backpack, twine, chalk, etc. I'll throw up details later for you.

Can I specify an archetype now? I would like to take Grenadier.
Sure - no problems.

Can I change a trait? I'm not sure that perform ability will be useful, I have a poor charisma and no class skill in it.
Again - no issues.

Am I allowed to prepare multiples of one extract?
Yep. If you wanted you could fill all your slots with just one type of extract.

No need to track food or basic ammo - my emphasis here will be on fun and not book-keeping.

Pathfinder’s Kit: This kit consists of a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a clay mug, a dagger, 2 fishhooks, flint and steel, a sewing needle, a signal whistle, 50 feet of string, 50 feet of thread, a waterskin, a week’s worth of trail rations, and a whetstone. - 12gp

Voices description is pretty spot on, Factotums use their book knowledge to make split second plans that give them their Int modifier as a bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls, skill checks, and the ability to fudge as though they can cast spells and such.

Arcane dilettante is strictly arcane spells, he gains the ability to spend an inspiration point and cast an arcane spell as a spell like ability. My previous DMs would limit it to any level 0 spell, and spells that the character had actually seen performed before or seen in a spell book so that I couldn't just flip through the players guide and pick any spell. Currently he is limited to 1, 0 level spell and he has to prepare it at the beginning of the day like a wizard. He can only cast said spell when he spends a inspiration point to do so.

OK, I think my sheet is pretty much finished except for some of the gear, and I'm down to 3 possible traits. GM, are you OK with the Good Dreams trait from Desna, seems like it might be a little extra work for you.

Kiren - you can take Good Dreams, but you'll likely need to give me prompts occasionally to make sure that I follow up from my side.

Icarus - as long as it's nominated at the start of the day, I'm happy for there to not be any restrictions beyond that for the spell.

OK, I will take Good Dreams and Accelerated Drinker, as much as I like the initiative bonus.

Kalum, spreading out our skills seems beneficial. Wouldn't hurt to put that skill focus in geography.
BTW, can you make holy water? Might be useful since I am a splash weapon expert.

Just remember Kiren - the book essentially presents the stereotype, so it's up to you whether to play to it or against it.


Kiren - a warning against accelerated drinker trait is that it doesn't apply to alchemists' extracts, only potions: source. I'm playing an alchemist myself in another game and I stumbled upon this too.

I think I want to play my guy as a little bit cracked, not quite mad hatter mad but somewhere close. Very intelligent in what he knows but also very unpredictable, years of pretending to be people that he is not has fractured his mind a bit and would play well into him possibly getting Chameleon as a Prestige class later. I don't plan on doing anything too outrageous, and would like to lower his Wis by a bit to reflect this, boosting another stat with the extra points. Just wanted to make sure this wouldn't be a problem.

Just a note - had today off work and hence the lackage of posts. Weekends being weekends with chidlets makes it hard to get a decent post in also. It will improve over time, but at present my evenings are curtailed with the amusement of one that does not sleep much.

My wife took our two kids on a three week vacation to her parents house a few states away. After about three days she has decided this vacation is also my Fathers Day gift. :) I can't disagree and it's probably the most expensive fathers day gift, possibly gift of any sort, that I've ever received. Pretty much. Well I estimate the chance to hit was about 1/4, and it will stay about the same once the wolves enter melee. Otis is not good at combat :(
