We made the effort to try to get past 'em with no violence, but it was set on attacken, and how long will we be in here? Long enough methinks for it to wake up and find any others and tell them about us.


With it asleep for almost a minute you easily can plan an put it down with a Jetro crit to the head or a decapitation from Greta.

Greta finishes the task but there is no smile or enjoyment in the task. Before she met you all and started being with Helgash this is something whe would have relished and fought to be the one to complete the deed.

can't recall if we detected magic on the corpse or not, but if we didn't, Venja will do so and scan the room as well as the corpse before moving on


Examining the walls of the room Duardlara is abel to determine that the east wall depicts a waxing crescent moon while the west wall has a strange triangular picture on it. The symbol Duardlara is also able to decipher is a triquetra, an Iobarian symbol to represent the journey of a woman through the 3 stages of life: maiden --> mother --> crone.

Venja finds a potion of reduce person, a wand of levitate with 19 charges on it, 4 javelins, 2 MW sickles, 29 gp, a rotten apple, and a spell component pouch.

Jetro, correct there is an archway leading to the southwest away from this room.

Are those weapons large-sized? Are they in a quiver?

The elven mage describes her observations to the rest of the group.

Just 2 exits. The one you came in and the one to the SW.

There is no quiver for the javelins and yes Duardlara you are correct that they are all large.

Jetro moves to the SW exit and see a long 10ft wide by 5ft high tunnel heading deeper into the complex. As far as he can see from the light in the chamber the walls are rough hewn but the floor is smooth from the countless passing of feet. 30ft further down though the darkness takes over and who knows what may be beyond his sight.

Checking to see if low-light vision's longer range helps at all

Duardlara mutters back, "Migger can see in the dark, but she really can't tell us what she sees, so that's not of much use." She looks at the paladin and his companion, wondering if their eyes allow them to see in the dark.


You know bath can Duardlara but they are not he most silent of types to go exploring on ahead.

With your low light vision you see a little further but still nothing that is the source of the sound.

So maybe send Migger ahead of us as we head down and have it meow or something if it sees another ettin or whatever.

Duardlara considers for a moment, but decides against it. Casting light on one of the archer's arrows, she says, "If I get into trouble, I will yell out and throw myself to the ground. Bring this with you or fire it in above me, as you feel appropriate. If it fades before I return, follow me as quietly as you can."

Setting Migger down, she attempts to sneak into the darkness at least as far as her eyesight will allow, listening for clues to augment her limited vision. The odd sort-of cat, seeming to understand its role, pads in quietly just ahead of her.

Helgash and Greta stand ready with the others - the silence still permeating them after the execution, which nags at their conscience - "I am ready Duardlara" - the paladin pipes in.


A little farther in Duardlara you are able to see a strong wooden dorr on your right hand side. IT seems quiet behind the door though. As you turn back tot he hallway you hear the sound again but this time you swear it is only 20 ft ahead of you. With the lack of light though it is impossible to see what it is but it is large and it sounds like it is getting closer to you!

I guess I didn't check this before - Does Migger have an empathic link to D'lara? Is it giving any sign of alarm?

Reaching down to scoop up the familiar, Duardlara retreats as quietly and as far as she can manage.

I assume that there is little point to rolling for the familiar while I'm carrying it.

From behind Duardlara as she retreats back up the tunnel you hear a loud below in giant. Who's there? I heard yo coming and you don't smell like my kin.

The voice if anything seems to retreat a bit further down but you can make out the unmistakable sound of a weapon being drawn as it moves.

Duardlara talks over her shoulder as she continues to retreat (double move) back toward the rest of the party. She's hoping that she is speaking loud enough - without sounding like she's talking too loudly to whoever she's talking to - that the others can hear her and prepare.

"I am the one that was summoned. You gave me a start, coming up in the dark like that." Both true statements!

I doubt this will go well....

Just in case...:
If her response elicits an angry or violent response, she will abandon the retreat tactic, cast vanish, and throw herself to the ground against the wall, shouting "I could use some light in here!".

Something in Duardlara's voice, even with true statement coming out of her mouth sets the creature on edge and you here it yelling Intruders! Help. Intyruders!

Assuming she does, Jetro fire his light arrow down the hall.


Jetro fires his arrow and it goes clanging off the wall and down the hallway illuminating a frost giant hunkered down inching his way back away from you. (first 4 squares of the tunnel)

Jetro nd fires an arrow but the narrow confines of the hall throw off his trajectory and it the low ceiling before finding contact with the giant.

Duardlara's voice comes back between gasps for air, "Frost giant. Too big for tunnel. Crouching. Couldn't see - said I smelled wrong."

By the sound of her voice, she's calmed when she adds, "There was a wooden door on the wall about where I encountered him. I didn't get to examine it at all. If we have to engage the giant, doing so in the hall will be to our advantage, I think. He could barely move well enough to throw that boulder at me - but it would have hurt if it found me..."


Helgash the arrow with the light spell illuminated the frost giant. You can see him down the corridor if you move forward.

Helgash you are able to move forward to see the giant and call out to him. your efforts seem lost though and you can reasonable assume that any giants in here are not going to listen to you. Other creatures you might have a chance to talk to if they have some intelligence.

Duardlara sets Migger down and readies her bow as she follows the others. Her vanish will last for 5 rounds. If the others are pressing the attack before it runs out, she will let fly with an arrow for the sneak attack damage, but she won't take the first shot.


The giant keeps moving down the hallway as fast as he can. You have reach one doorway already but it is closed. Helgash and Greta move forward with Jetro nipping at their heels waiting for another shot. The light from the arrow is still giving you enough light but if the giant passes on any farther you will need low light or darkvision to see him clearly.
