Ares hears a stick break. At first he thinks it could be any woodland animal but then a breeze wafts a hideous odor to the campsite.


Ares' darkvision reveals 7 hunched humanoid forms skulking about in the midnight air. They smell of putrid death and decay.

Sorry about the wait, work ran late the other day.

Eyeing the figures skulking Ares tries to quall his anger of these creatures running around his holy lands. He raises with his sword and shield, he calls out to his group, "Arise comrades! Muir has granted us a chance to wipe out some filth from her lands!" Then he pounds his sword on his shield while calling out words of a holy script then letting loose a holy energy.

If the creatures are within[ooc]If they are within 30ft then I'll be sending out a channel positive energy burst at them damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Will DC: 13

Or if they are further away then I will cast bless on the group. +1 to attack and fear saves for 2 minutes.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Perception check is to hear Ares' shouting if you want it. Tarvelin jumps out of his bedroll and grabs his greataxe. He is waiting for the shadowy creatures to come closer before attacking them.


Tarv, you can auto wake up when Ares shouts but if the perception roll is high enough to hear or smell them in your sleep before he shouts, you get to act in a surprise round.

I need to check the DC...

Grimmy, I can't tell which ghoul is which. Can't read numbers on them, so I'm going to try and describe the squares. Oh, and I only have a +3 initiative, so I should be 22 and Priscilla should go before me.

Jeb shakes the groggyness from his eyes and sees creatures rushing in from all sides. He knocks his bow quickly, letting two arrows fly in rapid succession.

Point Blank Shot, Deadly Aim, Rapid Shot. First Arrow on the enemy four squares down and two to the left of my position. If he falls after my first shot, I'll shoot the one next to him. Otherwise, both arrows in his face.

Longbow: 1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 231d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Edit: I may be outside of 30 feet from that enemy, I forget sometimes on the diagonals. If I need to I'll take a five foot step down one square before I fire.


I'll number the ghouls or put up grid coordinates in the morning, but for now fyi they are 1-7 clockwise from top left.

I may still have the perception and initiative party macros mixed up I will check it out.

Let's just do blocks for now though. party, monsters, party, monsters.

I count diagonals as 5' for ease.

Standing up and drawing my weapon was a move action, right? If I 5ft step down so that I'm next to Jeb I could use my standard to ready an attack against ghoul 6 to try and finish it off.

@Andrek: Yeah you have to save vs Paralysis, same DC as the Ghoul Fever. Ghoul Fever has 1 day onset and additional saves, paralysis sets in now. But you have to roll both saves immediately if I'm reading it right. Standard bestiary ghoul if you want to double check (roll knowledge check if you want to know IC as well as OOC.)
