Gyldyr nods as Desidera approaches him, indicating that he is willing to let her heal him. As the power of the spell washes over him and many of his wounds begin to heal, he shivers slightly at the power of the healing magic.

Gyldyr simply says, "Thank you. And nods once more to Desidera.

Stretching carefully afterwards to test the limits of the newly healed wounds, he continues to follow Gloisil, not willing to sit waiting again for the gnome to go off on his own. The last time almost was the end of the gnome sorcerer as he had fallen into a trap meant for the goblins.

Smiling at the Knight's bravery, she thanked him and gently covered his wounds, casting a stronger healing spell than before, hoping it would be enough to ease some of his hurts. When they stopped to rest, she would see what she could do for everyone. For right now, however, she did what she could to help. Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Neither of the elves are able to spot the concealed door (without searching and only using your auto sense door ability), but Gloisil find the mechanism and understands how to use you.

Gloisil; you may open the hidden door.

Harolde: yes master, we are to follow he hisses in his quiet, reptilian voice.

The knight is much healthier looking how; some color back in his face can be seen by the white glow of his sword; as most magical swords; 5ft radius.

Kurg limps over to the hidden door joined by the knight and Desidera and Sunset; presumably the party intends to go this way so I will just speed it along.

Gloisil open the door and follow the path, it takes a half hour of travel time; during this; Kurg stops limping just about as you get to the end.

The tunnel opens to a large passageway; about 100 ft to the left is a very large opening to a very large cavern. It is bright and lit and brings both hope and sorrow when you see it. The surface of this tunnel and the cavern you travel to is coverned with perhaps thousands of dead bodies; mostly dried and long dead, yet the stench burn your eyes and gags your breathing; Thousands of goblinoids of all types and hundreds of Dwarven Soldiers. As you enter the cavern; it is the entrance to the Temple of Dumathion, and has his symbols upon the front of the face of the 300' high temple. The doors are massive and 75' high; they are closed. there are turrets and sally ports; one of these is open. There are 5 glowing, dwarven guardian spirits holding station in front of the temple. The cleric that spoke to Gloisil becons you to come to him. The dead stop in a clear arc in front of the Temple; it is obvious this temple has not been violated, but presumable all of its defenders have died; just never left their posts.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Since only the Knight is LG; you will be allowed in the ante room and in the visitors sections; given room and beds and the spirit acolytes will bring you food and drink.

Everyone may rest here and regain their strength and spells; heal and whatnot; let me know what everyone wants to do.

Things to observe, the priests go about among the dead and bring back the bodies of the dwarves.

Desidera; you can see spirits here; a gift from Dumathion or the Greek dieties; your not sure; you can see there are only about 100 dwarves with spirits left out in the field of battle before the temple. All of these the dwarven spirit priests are collecting to entomb inside.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil moves forward at the beckon of the spirits of the dwarven clerics. He thanks them for their offer of a place to rest and heal from the battle that just occurred.

Turning toward Harold, Gloisil asks, "Harold, do you know which way we need to go from here? Or do we need to inquire of the dwarven cleric the path we need to travel."

? Presumed Mongrelman Herald

I am familiar with the route; but your allies here probaby wish to discuss tactics. The route I took for my former master, would not be without peril

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

After the party is bathed and fed and feeling somewhat refreshed, yet weary for sleep; the priest enters with the spirits of two acolytes and a high priest.

The high priest stops and glares at Kurg; who glares back; the the High Priest nods to the group.

so this is the group Holy Kirin sends us for aid, I thought there would be more; stronger, more warriors

The knight interupts: our archer and some warriors have stayed on the surface to harry the enemy and rescue dwarven and Dark Orc warriors to continue the battle on the surface as a diversion to draw more goblins outside of this Hold. A tactic that we have seen evidence is working

The high priest nods to the knight for certs, but I fear it is for naught. Some 350 thousand goblins invaded us, the greater pack which split from the great invasion horde brought to this content by the Antipaladin Ubil Hearthorn at the direct order of the High Priest Magus of evil, Cordova min'Amok, leader of those vile and damned Four. Though whispers in the dark, dead halls say there is a 5th who leads them and was behind the thousands of demons that came with them. Praise be to the Holy Cities and thier Auguest warrior of good who threw back that Abyssal Horde and their allied elves of the World Emperor. Our Celtic allies were crushed and were not able to aide us here other than a double helping of druids and rangers and a few scattered bands. The Imperial Legions never came and I cursed them, but I know now that things are more desparate there than even here, for our highest priest of my order, Holy Kojan and also the Holy Hearthstarter himself have brought their band with such powerful heroes such as the Arch Magus Fystor and that master manipulator Balfic Graa, among others. The dead move there in legions Liches and worse, led by the Abomination of Desolation herself; thus I withdraw my curse from the Sacred Book of Grudges, for I cannot in good conscious ask help of those being broken on the rack and pressed by the very weight of the earth itself.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

the spirit of the high priest continues to speak
the situation here is grimm, we WILL loose without aid. That is the grim truth of it. If you are what we have to work with, then we need to come up with a way to use what aid you can give to remove the Artifact from its place here at take it to the hold in the Ancient lands; the Mountain Hold where Holy Kojan makes his home.

Gyldr shudders at the name of Cordova; every Dark elf knows that Drow family and fears it.

so; we need a plan to remove without getting all of you killed. There are about a thousand goblins attacking those of us who protect the Artifact. We have about 45 warriors left. We loose about 10 a day. They loose a few hundred, but their dead are replaced as zombies or used for food; they are augmented with other goblins from the caverns. Our job is to get you to the artifact; I believe when that happens; the creature controlling the goblins and his cadre will take a personal hand in the fight. After you defeat him, we can get you out a secret passageway and seal it behind you. From there, I suggest you run either to the Kirin Mound; or all the way to Kojan Hold in the Ancient Lands and let no one know of what you carry or speak of it to anyone or even think about if if you can help it; only one of you should even see or hold its container. It in itself is corruption most base and vile, even through its wards it will call for aid from nightmares of the depths of forgotten history. Who among you will hazard to carry this thing?

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

After listening to the high priest, Gloisil says, "We will do as we must to complete the task that we have been given. If I must, I will carry the artifact. I would like to get rid of it as soon as possible, so I say we make for the Kirin mound first, but if needed we will take it to Kojan Hold if need be."

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

the knight says how are we to get to the artifact, remove it and get away?

While the discussion was going on, Desidera was looking around at everyone and considering things. Holding the object sounded very dangerous, and almost everyone had more to lose than she did. When Gloisil stepped up to volunteer to carry the artifact, she moved slightly as if to stop him. However, she stopped instead, looking to the Knight as he spoke. It unnerved her and scared her that they were being asked to complete such a task.

There had to be a way, however. This was the Dwarves' home. She had faith in that. Their escape was something that she was concerned about as well. She had questions, but she had been taught to let everyone finish talking before asking any questions.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Sir Knight, if I recall correctly from what the high priest just told us is that they can lead us to the artifact and help us escape this place. Then it sounds as if we will be on our own in getting to the Kirin Mound, or to the holy Kojan."

"I know that there are a lot of unknowns and questions that we do not have answers for, but that has been the way of it for most of this journey, and I do not expect that to change any time soon. We must do what we can despite the fact that we have not all the answers."

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

the high priest interjects.

yes, we can help you get to the artifact and remove it, but may be overwhelmed and if you do not remove the demon who leads these goblins; they will follow you and gain strenth from their allies as they do. There are many writing suggesting that this mount upon which you met Holy Kirin, if a link to the Fae and is like a magical superhighway and links to other Fae mounds. We have many writing from dwarves how slept on or nearby and arrived hundreds if not thousands of miles distant, even upon other continents. Many "ways" of mystical travel are broken or extremely hazardous, such as our Runic tram that once connected the five main dwarven holds, which is no more. I believe it to be Holy Kirin's plan to use the Fae Mound, but this is a guess based on the wisdom of our ancient texts.

it is my suggestion that your priestess carry the artifact as she may be wise enough to resist the constant bombardment of its influence, if you are all decided; then rest and prepare yourselves for battle, when the sun reaches its zenith; we move, perhaps for the last time

------
everyone refresh your spells and such, those who need it ; gain 3 hps from rest in a holy temple if you have good in your alignment; 1 if you dont. Post a ready when party is ready to move out.

Desidera looks surprised when she is mentioned as a Priestess, but realized that the term rather apply to her, even if she did not think of it much, since she was happy doing what she did. However, she did nod in agreement with the High Priest's suggestion, and step forward. "I would volunteer, if the others do not object." She smiled at Sunset, and looked around at the rest, even Gyldyr, resolutely resigning herself to the task.

Later, when they were resting, she spoke up, looking in the direction she thought the artifact to be. "The priest is right. Every one that falls is reanimated by the evil. It is a losing fight, and goes yet faster with every loss. The artifact is a seal, and it is keeping something out." Just what exactly it was keeping out, she did not want to contemplate, though she had an idea. "I do not know how many the seals number."

For anyone that needs topping off with healing, Desidera can spare 4, 4, 5 points of healing in three spells.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil bows towards the high priest and says, "We thank you for your help and assistance. I will allow Desidera to carry the object, but will do anything I may to assist her in that task."

"If we must face this being that leads the goblins then so be it, and if defeating him will aid in our escape and in keeping this artifact safe, then I will do all I can to defeat him."

Gloisil then finds a quite place to rest and prepare for the coming task.

Male Drow Wizard (Necromancer) 2

The Drow approaches Desidera and says, "I know that I have not been the friendliest person to be joined with this party, but being who I am, friendship does not come easily, both from myself, or from those that meet me. That being said, we have all been put together to perform a task, and that task is not yet complete."

"If you would not mind using some of your healing ability, I would appreciate it. Also the knight may also have need of your help, I think Kurg has healed himself, or been healed some how."

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

At the inquiry to whether Gloisil is in need of healing, he says, "By luck I was not hit in that last skirmish, and am not in need of aid."

Gloisil still has plenty of bolts for his crossbow and other supplies.

Gloisil then asks the priests, "If there is anything that you could offer that you feel would be of benefit to me in completing our task, I would certainly be grateful for such aid."

Male Drow Wizard (Necromancer) 2

Gyldyr approaches the priest and inquires if they would have any additional arrows for his longbow.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Gyldyr, we still have those arrows that we found in the pool after defeating the water creature. I'm still not sure how they work, but your more than welcome to them. Although the magic that they are enchanted with is divine in nature, they may still be of use, I don't know for sure.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Well...we can stay here long enough for Desidera's and mine spells to have an effect, right? Don't want to go back into the grinder underwhelmed.

Sunset finds a quiet area and gives the sword her uncle gave her a few practice swings.

Desidera was pleased at their mention of resupplying, and she happily accepted another pouch of sling bullets, overjoyed to see allies in this dark place. The knowledge of what task she had accepted weighed on her, but like her elven friend, she was never one to stay downcast for too long. She provided what healing she could, starting with Gyldyr. If her hands seemed to be shaking, it was just fatigue and nerves. Nothing she could do about that but see it through.

It occurred to her to ask the dwarves if they had a spare spear that she could use. Her quarterstaff was certainly sufficient, but they were approaching a fight, and she felt that she should be armed appropriately.

Yes; there is a spear from the pool; it will need to be cleaned up as it is full of gunk, do you want to do it yourself or will you ask one of hte dwarven spirits to do it? Gloisil did sense magic on this spear earlier so it is probably better than what the dwarves would give you.

Gloisil sees Desidera looking over the spear that they had recovered from the pool and walks up to her and says, "Desidera, would you like me to clean that spear for you? I would be glad to do that for you."

Then to the group as a whole, Gloisil asks, "Does someone have those arrows that we recovered from the pool? Maybe I have them and have just forgot about them."

Gloisil then goes through his gear to make sure that he didn't stow them somewhere. Once located, he approaches the priests and says, "Could I please ask another favor of you? These arrows have some kind of divine enchantment on them, is there anything more you can tell me about them?"

Desidera looked up at Gloisil with a smile and a shrug. She would have been comfortable of cleaning it off, but if it would please him to do so-- She nodded and offered him the spear sideways with both hands. "It is very well made. I have not ever seen one like it."

Sunset skipping around, keeping morale up was well received by the priestess, flicking the elf's ears with a smile and a bump of her hip. "We would be much more lost without you, ilioula", she admitted, looking at the rest of them and recalling all that they have been through so far.
