Elsdyn will wake up with all the others, a little sleepy still, he will do a few stretching exercises, eat a bit and respond to others welcomes with a kind word and a smile. He will carefully examine his equipment and perform any maintenance he deems necessary then suit up for the days adventure.

Finally he will sit down crosslegged shield beside and sword across his lap and begin his 'meditations' for the day (takes roughly an hour). Observers will note as time goes on the pearly white pauldrons floating above his shoulders, which have all but faded, grow more visible with time.

If I'm ever not posting, that's because noone has stated an action that would require my character to respond.. I was waiting to see if I would get woken up, since I didn't want to jump the gun. And wasn't the strangeOrc cuddled with Sunset?

Even in her prayers, the sounds of Sunset getting ready for the 'day' makes her smile. Her day was also brightened with Elsdyn being there, giving him a polite, but enthusiastic greeting once her prayers were finished, and beginning to pack up with the others. She knew it was another day, another day that they had been down here, but just like the others, she held hope that it would be the last, and they would be returning to the surface soon.

Gyldyr grabs a rather large portion of breakfast, feeling like he'd skipped dinner. He eats quickly, the food not what he's used to and anyway he needs to memorize his spells. After memorizing his spells, (which probably means he's one of the last ready to leave), he'll either wait for everyone else or head out with the group. As usual, he politely ignores the rest of the party.

As the party eats and prepares for the new day, Gloisil watches each of his companions for a moment as the go through their own preparations. He can't help but wonder at the strange twists of fate that had to have occurred to bring such a different and diverse group of 'people' together.

From the discription of the room after the battle, it sounded like there were two passages that we could take other then the one that we came through. Valegrim, let me know if that is correct. If it is, anyone have a preference or gut feeling on which way we should go?

Silver Crusade

Gyldyr would vote for the one going deeper, if that can be determined, since it follows that our goal is probably fairly deep underground. Also, he prefers being deep underground.

Posting to regain Dot.

GM: i am a bit surprized that you had no expression finding Kurg curled up sleeping next to you kind of bundled in the blankets with you and Desidera; is this intentional or an oversight?

Sunset wrote:

With all the hustle and bustle around her, Sunset comes to wakefulness. She yawns, stretches, wiggles and flexes. From under the blanket arms and legs variously appear, flex and disappear. Finally she sits up, blinking in the pale light generated by Desidera's candle and the small flame of the groups camp-fire.

Sunset mumbles something and a small orb of light 'pops' into being. (Cast 'Dancing Lights') the better to help every one get ready for the new day. Still humming a soft tune Sunset does her best to 'clean up' using 'Prestidigitation', offering to help Desidera as well, then goes about changing from 'blanket' to 'geared up' and set out with every one else.

"Right-y-O! Lets GO!" She says once dressed for the new 'days' adventures, though her voice remains subdued, given where they are.

yes; there are two direction that can be traveled; the main hall outside this chamber is level. Looking out with the cistern to your rear; the wide hallway goes right (if Gyldryr is looking he can see it start to turn) and going left; it goes as far as anyone can see; both directions have various doorways almost uniformly bashed in and there is the continuation of dark, dried bloodstains and dried bones here and there. Couple wet spots probably from someone relieving themself.

Koridur:

Spoiler:

from your quick look coming in here; this area is probably what was the trading district; probably not to far from the main entrance into the Dwarven hold. Areas such as this are in every dwarven hold that does business outside the hold with traders as well as with any outside business like agriculture or herding that the dwarves do. this area just doesn't strike you as very near your target; not warm enough for one things and doesnt have the smell of residue left over from forging or smithing. A little more look around and you might get your bearings; but your thoughts would be this is the central floor even with land outside. It is extremely likely the Hold's main doors and part of the gateway tunnel was collapsed and still is unless someone took the major task of uncovering it.

in the room, the darkness stops when Sunset and Kurg get up and start moving around; since most of you cannot see in the dark anyway; you probably don't notice; though any who can see in darkness can make an Int check to see if they notice the coincidence and its relationship.

So, I take it the party will eat their first meal? where do people relieve themselves? I am assuming it will take about an hour for people to eat, clean up; and generally get ready, Mox is still sleeping in the hall.

What will the party be using as a light source today?

Kurg sharpens attends to his gear, meals and goes into the hall to relieve himself.

Male Human (Britonian/Azurin) Earthblood Knight/2

Elsdyn will follow Koridor's lead for bodily functions since this is a dwarven hold.

The dwarven belt gives him darkvision, 60' 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Eeeew! I fergots all'a bouts tricky things like that! Hopefully there be a corner or...somat, type place where we's c'n do...those sort'a things...At least waaay back at th' start we could bury it in'a sand...like cats....

What's t' notice? I has been sleepin' wi' Desidera fer longer th'n Desi, me an Kurg has been sleepin' t'gether...?

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Kurg: "I gots some soreness to work out; lets go kill some S#it." He twists and you hear his back and neck pop a bit as he streches. "you ready n s#hit Biscuit, lets go" <he quickly walks outside, sees where Mog did it; and relieves himself. Then takes a big swig of something from his very large waterskin. Some green stuff drizzels down his chin.

Mox gets up; looking as thin and pathetic as usual; he is sniffing the air; his eyes a bit blurry. "Frech, Frech air dis way" he points with his totem stick to the right; "Weeze go...dis way maybe" he points the other way; then back and forth and back and forth scratching his head pondering.

--------

Everyone notices that other than Kurg, Mox and Elsdyn, all their gear is cleaned and mended, work somebody else did. Mog has things tied in his hair; that rattle as he turns his head; he starts spinning around trying to catch them and jumping up and down out in the hall.

Kurg; seeing Mox's predicament; goes over and quickly lifts the little goblin by his hair; slaps away the green leaves and twigs; and unceremoniously drops the goblin - who then stops and hacks at the twigs and leaves.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil noting Mox's pondering of which way to go, also begins to think about what the little goblin said about fresh air. If fresh air is coming from the right, that could mean that the way to the right leads back towards the surface, not the way they want to be going.

"I think that Mox may be right and we don't want to go to the right, the direction that the fresh air is coming from, so it looks like we need to go in the other direction, where the main hallway continues."

Gloisil gather's his things and then with his owl Hoot perched on his shoulder, walks over to the entrance of the main hallway ready to continue their journey.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Kurg's comment again earns him a dark look from Sunset, as she gives herself a final pat down checking her gear. Then moves so that her dancing lights spell helps Desidera finish off getting ready. Once satisfied She moves to join Gloisil at the door way, seeing the Gnome has already determined which way they should go.

Rising and going about with the morning's business, Desidera looked to the things that Sunset had retrieved from the bottom of the pool, and fingered the necklace again. She had yet to figure out what it was, or how it worked-- something that she decided to do the next time they set camp-- but there were still some other things that she had seen Gloisil looking over, and was curious.

Well, to be fair, she was not that curious, but she did have to wonder how long the things had been in the pool, probably just as long as it had been since this fortress had fallen. Standing at the edge of the pool, she said a quiet prayer for those who had fallen, and got ready to head out with the others.

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

Gyldyr goes about the morning's business and then, when they leave, takes up position at the back as usual.

Elsdyn nods and smiles in agreement to Gloisil's suggestion and naturally positions himself at the front of the group.

Spoiler:

You know that Dwarves build in effecient vent systems; so the fresh air may only be from a nearby vent. In a central corridor like this; you could be a mile from the front gate; no way to tell.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Ok; the room outside the pool/cistern room and before the crushed strongpoint is square and about 100 ft square; there is an exit to the right and two the left; where once stood great armored doors; these doors have been bashed/hacked/burned open; and are off the hinges or otherwise hanging. The hallways leading each direction are quite wide; there are crates and large hand carts and such things; most is dissrepair and a lot of trash as well as various bloodstains and other evidence of combat; blacked marks; and various kinds of burns; the battle at the gates was probably very gruesome as the ground and walls show evidence of weapon marks; the doors themselves have lots of goblinoid made arrows sticking in them and a few dwarven crossbow quarrels. There is fine layer of dust and grit on the sides of the hall; but the central corridor is fairly clean. There are lots and varried footprints, claw marks; and passing of various beasts occassionally in the hall.

doorways for more permanent shops can be seen in either direction; on the right side the doorways in that hall face each other and there is a lot of broken glass in the hall. To the left; the first two doors are catty corner to each other; so facing down the left hall; a door would be close; about 25' away to the right; then the other on the left would be about 60' away; the edge of most peoples vision.

Will the party be going down the left hall; and can I get a new marching order as this hallway is very wide (40')and is the party traveling in the dark or using a light source?

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Desidera; as you look at the pool deep in thought; you realize that where ever the water comes from; it has repleanished and filtered the pool; this water appears clean and drinkable.

<I suggest everyone fill their waterbags>

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil on his way to stand by the entrance that he suggested they try, see Desidera staring at the pool of water and says, "Desidera, are you alright? What are you thinking about? Is something wrong?"

Yes the hallway on the left sounds fine if it's okay with everyone else. Unless of course our DM is leading us to our doom. :-)

Gloisil is okay with walking towards the front, as long as he can move back if something attacks. I would also suggest that we spread out a little since we have the room and not make ourselves one big target. So Gloisil will walk slightly behind and staggered from those in front of him.

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

Gyldyr will walk a medium distance behind everyone else, unless that puts him uncomfortably close to a light source; if so he'll be farther back.

"The pool", she said with a sad voice, looking over her shoulder to Gloisil. "So many people had their lives taken because of the creature within. I was saying a prayer for them." Carefully, she knelt and cupped her hands in the water, bringing it up to her mouth for a sip. Her actions were careful, as if she was not entirely sure that she should be drinking the water, but after a moment, she relaxed. "The water seems clean", she said, drinking the rest that was in her cupped hands and waiting expectantly.

Since she did not immediately get sick, or feel the slightest bit sick, she went and got her waterskin, dunking it into the pool to fill it. As the surface bubbled from the air escaping from it, she smiled slightly. "It occurred to me that Sunset and the others were in it with no ill effects-- well, after, that is." The bubbles stopped, and she lifted her full skin from the pool.

Her smile got a little bigger. "I don't think she'd swim in a pool without tasting some of it, either."

Same positions as before, sans Mogue?

Desidera was not really surprised to see Sunset heading over, but it was that mischievous gleam in her eye that tipped her off. She was just turning to smile and respond to Sunset's question when she was nudged, and by the lyre, it was just enough to tip her into the pool. The filled waterskin was heavier than she had anticipated, and she was already off-balance. There was a gasp as she went over, catching the yell of surprise, and a splash as she entered the water awkwardly, thanks to her flailing about trying to drag the instigator in as well.

Despite the chill in the water, Desidera surfaced quietly, only her narrowed eyes above the water level, her hair almost obscuring her vision of the never-innocent elf. Treading water, she got her head above the surface and swam to the edge to climb out and stand, completely soaked. Her waterskin remained in the pool, idly floating just under the surface.

Pushing her hair out of her face, she tried to glare at Sunset, but had it ruined by the grin she was trying to suppress. It did not last too long, that attempt, and the grin turned to laughter that she at least managed to keep quiet-ish.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil at seeing Desidera shoved in the water by Sunset, walks back that way to see if he can give her a hand in exiting the pool and retrieving her waterskin. He shakes his head, and has to try hard to suppress a grin and laughter.

Oh, it's been so long since he had a reason to laugh, and it pains him to have to hold it back instead of just letting go and have the laughter take over. But this was not the place for that, and he hoped that soon they would all be able to gather some place in safety and have a good laugh together.

As he reaches the pool he reaches out with his hand to help Desidera out of the pool. He then helps her get her waterskin which is floating on the surface of the pool.

I believe that Sunset thinks that a swim would do us all some good. If only we had the time, I might agree with her, but we need to be moving on as we have a task to complete.

After Desidera is out of the pool Gloisil asks, "Do you believe the water is now clean and drinkable?"

Gloisil then prepares to fill his own waterskin while keeping his eye on Sunset as he has no desire to take a swim at the moment. Once his waterskin is full he then starts back towards the hallway they had decided to continue down.

Gyldyr follows Gloisil's example.

Male Human (Britonian/Azurin) Earthblood Knight/2

Elsdyn spins around prepared for a fight at the sound of the splash, then relaxes as his eyes take in the event. He takes off his backpack and pulls out a cloak and approaches Desidera with it.

"Mi'lady, though there is little chill now, we know not where we travel and Master Gloisil begs us leave soon. Take this cloak to aid thee in drying and staying warm." He offers Desidera the simple wool cloak with a polite smile.

Then, as he too replenishes his waterskin

"Also, when I came to the camp late last night, the Goblin...Mox was limping back from somewhere. He seemed not impeded by his complication, but I thought I should mention it to thee to be safe."

Elsdyn will then take his leave from the waterhole and heads back to the selected hallway, grabing his backpack on the way. He will keep watch while the others continue their preperations.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Sorry, again not much time.

Sunset has to sit as her mirth bubbles up at Desidera's dunking. Helping her freind out of the water with Gloisil, she happily hugs the wet cleric, not caring how wet she herself gets.

As Elsdyn wraps the cloak about Desidera's shoulders Sunset snuggles under the blanket as well, humming a tune as she pats her freind down.

Liberale use of the Presdidigitaion Spell, to dry Desidera off. (^_~)

Upon filing all the water skins Sunset's last joke is,

"Oh, th' water be fine t' drink." She takes a sip herself, "Jus..." She licks her lips thoughtfully, "Jus'...it do taste a tad like Cleric." She grins and giggles at her final joke. (^_^)

*chuckle*
--------

as the mood lightens from various antics; the party finally sets out down the corridor to the left. it is dark and somes shoe is squish/squeeking.

As stated before; the door is smashed; though once it was a well made and decorated door; some 40' high and 20' wide; a massive double door to be sure; now lays in ruin; one side torn off and the other hanging crookedly; the cold wisps near the dried bloodstain as a sharp reminder of the toll of the greenskin invasion dampening somewhat the lighter spirit of the morning.

Mox scampers about sniffing here and there.

The coridor is dark ahead; the smell of old fire, soot and smoke is very evident.

passages with openings in the wall can be faintly seen by those who can see in the dark;

Is there a light source? Otherwise; not much can be seen but continueal rubbish and bones; occassionaly the edge of the eye catches some hint of something slithering out of sight among the rubbish.

how does the party proceed?

Fem Elf Bard 3

Jus' a simple question? Are the ruins of the doors wood or stone? If wood? Then maybe a tad more 'wood work' would garner the group some useful timber? Jus' a thought. (^_^)

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil retrieves one of the sunrods that he has in his pack and strikes the gold tip against on of the corridor walls. The tip then begins to glow with light allowing the party to see further down the passage.

I should have darkvision, so no trouble with sight here.

Fem Elf Bard 3

While Sunset looks over the ruins of the door, her eyes also take in the form of Gyldyr as the robed Elf saunters past. She catches Desidera watching her watching Gyldyr.

"Whut? I c'n look, cain't I?" She whispers with a mischievous smile again upon her features.

"So, c'n we get any use out'a this stuff? Or be it jus' a blockage fer maybe hidin' behind on'a way out?" She says out loud, changing the conversations.

An' I be back wi' a new 'puter! (^_^) Now t' get at all'a lost info an' stuffs...-_- Much cheers t' ye an' all'a yours! Here's t' ADVENTUERE! (^_^)

Desidera was carrying the lantern, which could provide light for.. She looked around the group, wondering who besides her needed the light, and realized that she was likely the only one, something that made her feel even more alone at that moment. Once they came to the door, she looked at it as well, though she did not spend too long looking at it, since she did not have the skills to gauge inanimate objects. The best she could manage was "old" and "big".

Sunset's attention and comment earned a roll of her eyes, and she looked over the rest of the group, observing to see if any of them were still hurting from the night before. Perhaps if they were lucky, they could find a library, but she doubted the state that they would find it in. The sorrow at being unable to see the sky had more or less worn off, and an idle curiosity was starting to take its place.

While the others examined, she scuffed her foot, looking down (and up) at the stone that surrounded them.

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

Gloisil once he has some light from the sunrod and Desidera's lamp, will continue down the hallway to the first cross passage and look down it.

"Well I'm guessing that we need to go further down still, so we need to continue to look for ways to the lower levels."

Fem Elf Bard 3

Sunset perks up and, after giving Desidera another friendly squeeze of the arm, skips along after Gloisil -her small orb of magic light bobbing in her wake.

"Okeys then, I'll be happy t' foller ye abouts down here. Boats be more my thing." She explains, "Uuh...I mean ship...Ship be th' proper thing in' people's speak..." She amends with a blush, now keeping her voice lowered as they begin to traverse the new passages. He x-bow is held loos and casually, but obviously ready to be raised and fired at a moments notice.

There is very little wood in the door or doorframe; being mostly iron and stone; but there is quite a bit of wood junk around in all the rubble for most smallish projects.

There is no down at the moment; the ground is level; and presumable you have chosen the way deeper into the mountian; but the ground is very very level. The ground is cobblestone, much like a road but the size and fitting of the stonework is amazing; and there is a very pleasing pattern to how the stones set; really a shame that there is so much junk; no life; and so much blood in it all. This was once probably a lively hall of craftsmen and traders.

As the party passes out of the central chamber and through the shattered storm doors and into the crafting area; you pass a few rooms. Some will be obvious as to usage with signs, but generally runes for the craft; any gnome or dwarf would know these symbols

the first to the right is oil; to the left; coal

unless they do something else; like attempt to stop for oil, I assume the party travels on...
-------

The next couple rooms have the dwarf and gnome clutching their items a little tighters and anger surges through the dwarf.

A cold forge; once the heart of industry for outside trade; not the grand forges of the dwarves which are below, this area is almost exlusivly for trade with the outside; any race that is friendly to dwarves like gnomes and halflings and some humans would know this and have tales of this section of a dwarven hold; this is a contained section away from the dwarf home thus you see a forge, to the left, where once rang 30 hammers; now cold with no fire; the coal repostitory stripped; across from the from the forge to the right is a smelter; where ore is turned to bars and beyond it is an empty ore holding room. Next to the forge is the room where bar stock was kept; in the floor between the smelter and the bar room there was evidence of a light rail; rails having been stipped for the floor as it is evidient that the goblins who now live here value metal; but not this area; for the region of ghostly, vast and empty excepting the remebrance of this as a once lively area of trade, commerce and industry.

now it is an empty shell with lurking danger; since this area is unused; only wandering guards; monsters and those predators what lurk in dark places are the current danger.

What does the party do?

Sunset's eyes grow large as her attention seems drawn towards the mysterious darkness.

Desidera made a glance towards the open doorway that Sunset looked in, but made no move towards entering. Her eyesight was not that great in the light from the lantern, but she could imagine the number of things that could be lurking in a pitch-black area that was normally used for the making and possible storing of metal weapons. They already knew where they were headed, more or less. She did sight softly at sunset as she looks longer than is necessary through the doorway.

For that, she got bumped by the butt of her spear, nudging her away from the darkness. If she got a look, her only response would be a quiet shake of her head, advising that she not bring them in there to look around.
