Nebibit Sanura |
Ok; I am a bit confused on one thing.
Was their a turning attempt or was that halted?
In all honesty I'm not sure Nebibit was told to hold but I don't know if it is the kind of thing you can stop when you have started it. Assuming it can be......
Nebibit continues to watch the exchange with a kind of twitchy anticipation "We should strike now before it decides to go for Llvenoc." As soon as she hears about the gnolls having been in League with servants of Set Her face goes cold and hard.
Kosan Silveraxe |
hehe Kosan; before my npc's can do much; I need to know if the turning happened or not; sorry.; if the turning happened you cannot do this move until I give the results; if it didnt; than we are still in dialog and you can move.
I Humbly Await the outcome of the Turning.
then I...I move into room 20 ft (by my calculations that should put me near the, Left, top of the small bench at the table). Axe in hand with shield on arm and ready to strike if a foe charges at me. That is my move (I hate having short legs).

TREASON, BETRAYAL! KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL <points at Nebibit>
Turning causes the hyenas wince whine and growl, but send the main gnoll into a beserk fury. His ethereal but visibly ghostly body spreads out and a horrific image of hate and anger. The appearance is so vile that everyone who can see the ghost must make a Fortitude save. The gnoll is facing directy at Nebibit.

you can see hundreds of tendrils of necromatic magic streaming from the ghost as it strongly radiates death magic on the etheral plane

well after hearing the mention of set worshippers I do Believe Nebibit will go for it.
Back when the ghost revealed that it was not the artifact we're looking for that it was expecting from Aelithiss: "There's nothing more to learn from this one, I think. Nebibit, go ahead. Everyone else, get ready!"

Fort Save: (NO Paladin Bonus)1d20+4=22, Initiative: 1d20+5=8
Fear, loathing, panic and logic all war within Kemnebi's mind as the Gnoll-ghost roars his wrath. His blood chills in his veins as the spirit's malevolent presence washes over him, freezing him in his tracks. Ergo cruddy initiative,
But the ghost's chilling power is swept away in a heartbeat, his blood boiling as he realizes that the spirit has turned his evil attentions to his childhood friend! Ergo Lucky Fort save!
"NEB! LOOK OUT!" The feline mage cries, and howls his defiance at the ghost, his eyes blazing,...

When I get to init 12, I will intercept the ghost. My Rapier, and hand crossbow in hand. Even though I know the hand crossbow won't effect him. Force of habit. When I get to him I will attack. Attack with Rapier d20=12+13=25 Damage d6=1+4=5 chicken scratch...

Val, what are the actual size dimensions of the room? Specifically, is there anywhere that I could position myself to manifest a power that unleashes in a 40' radius burst, centered on me, (Energy Burst) that would get the ghost without getting any of my companions in the area? The power description says it is an "ectoplasmic burst" of the chosen energy type, and since ghosts are pretty much made of ectoplasm, I assume it would negate the miss chance for incorporeality. If there is nowhere that I can do that without getting party members in the blast, then I will do Energy Push instead (did we decide last time that it does qualify as a "force-based attack" for purposes of affecting incorporeal undead?).
If I can position myself to get off a 40' burst that gets the ghost and not the party:
Energy type: Electricity
Damage: 7d6 (spending two extra power points to augment damage)
Save DC: 19
Overcome Power Resistance (1d20+9=28)
If I cannot do the above without getting party members in the area of effect:
Energy type: Electricity
Damage: 4d6 (spending two extra power points to augment damage and save DC); +2d6 if ghost is manifested and blown into a solid surface; target is moved back 5' plus 5' per 5 damage it takes.
Save DC: 20
(keeping the same rolls above to overcome power resistance and miss chance, if applicable):
Overcome Power Resistance (1d20+9=28)
Miss Chance (if applicable) (1d100=72)
Initial damage (4d6=15)
Impact damage if striking solid surface (2d6=6)
Moved back 20' from its position at time Energy Push is manifested

yes you can if nobody moves away from the wall; there is just enough room to miss Thoronhen on the opposite side of the room by good 15 ft. but if anyone tries to flank or rear they will be in it on their init; Llevenoc is flanking at the moment; but who cares; blast that dark elf hehe.

On my initiative, I'll assess everyone's relative positions, and if there is still room to do the Burst, I'll do that, otherwise I'll do the Push instead.
Regarding aging effects, Namaste is 20 years old. As a Kalashtar, that makes her the equivalent of probably a 15 or 16-year-old human, i would say (yeah, our party leader is a kid!) Kalashtar are considered Adult at age 40, Middle Aged at 75, Old at 113, and Venerable at 150. Of course, I wasn't really paying attention to the age categories when I made her, so if you'd rather I reset her age to 40 to fit into the Adult category, that's cool.
PS - can the aging effects of ghosts be reversed with spells like Restoration, since they're not actually making us chronologically older, but rather stealing some of our vitality to make our physiology function as if we were older? Since it is something being effectively taken from us, can Restoration spells give it back?
Namaste |
ghost is not manifested
That's kind of why I was wondering about the Energy Burst, since it is formed of the same basis (ectoplasm) as the ghost in its "natural" state. As such, would the miss chance normally applied to incorporeals apply?

Restoration spells and potions will work. As well as other items which I can't think of the name of at the moment.

dont worry to much about the age; you just look older until your stats come back as it drains con; str; and dex; ie ;same as getting older does; is just fluff.

Am going to have to look at this psychic power; right now amd thinking it is just electricty and as I treat pychic powers just like spells; dont think it has any special affect on a ghost, but will have to read the details. i have a feeling that of some of the melee types have higher init than you they will probably close on the ghost.
anyway; activating psychic power; no random monster from roll this time.

Not in the downstairs room, still in the lab so dont see any ghost. Init roll..hmmm 1 +3=4. Spot roll to see the little bug coming up the stairs 11+11=22. Not sure if its a seperate roll so 4+11=15 to notice the ghouls and such and a listening roll of 9+16=25 to here anything going on either way...certainly hears Kemnebi's shout. Not aware of any of the mindlink stuff sooo
if she spots the bug
Looking at the tiny bug coming up the stairs, well then, never heard of a cat being worried about a bug but...orders one skeleton to step on the bug.
if notices ghouls, etc...
"Well, June, it seems there is some undesirables heading this way. Shall we try and hold the fort or join the others in their sorte into the unknown? Or are you going to be at this...request for a bit?"
While talking, a skeleton will move over to the shelfs and begin moving them toward the doorway.
if doesnt notice anything
Will continue watching down the stairs to see if she is needed or the "watch out" is nothing to be concerned about. Skeleton's will remain with the previous command.
