"Aw,... meeouch!" Kemnebi mutters as he scans the area with his senses. ALL his senses. He closes his eyes and rubs them as if they burn.
'FOX!, Nebibit!' He shouts into the mental link.
'The main battle of magical wills and ritual seems to be between the dark elf and the lizard mage! The dark elf is winning. The master vampire is loosing slightly to the Hive Master, but they are nearly equal. Something outside human perception is stirring in the lava below; the magic from it is enormous. The focus of the snake god apparition is totally on the goddess, she to resisting his will. The snake ritual is to drain her will so the snake god can consume her totally. She is loosing and I doubt she can stand this for much longer. Judging by the corona that has not yet quite engulfed her; it is about 70 percent.'
'The snakemen! Focus on the snakemen! If we stop their ritual we give the goddess and ourselves more time!' Hed cries mentally, fishing in his robes for spell components.

I laugh Manically out loud and proclaim: Dumathiun My lord thank you forgiving me such a bountiful place to kill our foes. protect me and give me strength till I fall and then take me to your halls and give me a beer.
In the mind link: Astinious challenge or get the demons attention, fox throw down a spell to slow down the snake men and undead so we are not fighting on 3 fronts, and send a care package to the dark elf wizard to make him loose concentration so the power battle can stabilize between the Dark elf Magus and the Lizard mage. Llevonic If its a hole you want I be your dwarf. (Note i still have that growth potion active). I run to get in front of Llevonic and shield up try to make a whole, avoiding the ank and mist battle from the undead wizard and ghoul. Llevonic Hurry we are almost out of time.

"The elf must reach the goddess. Aid him and the dwarf. I will be right behind you with what aid I can offer."
Mindlink "Catmage, I am focusing on the undead and getting Llvenoc through to the goddess. If you can slow down the snakes with The Jewel, so be it, but then you follow us. We'll need you both."
Astinos |
"Fine. Undead it is" Astinos stands like a demigod of battle himself spear outstretched toward the enemy.
"FOUL DEBASED PERVERSIONS OF THE LIVING, TODAY YOUR VILE UNDEATH COMES TO AN END! COME LET ME SHOW YOU THE POWER OF LIFE!
Swift action* Test of Mettle DC 23 will save or all opponents in range seek to engage in combat with Astinos.
As his words ring throughout the cavern he charges forward, spear and shield prepared to meet the host of undead with divine might.
Valegrim |
The party generally moves forward
Astinos, Kosan and Durr move forward together down the slopped entrace to the stone level about the lava prepared for action, Astinos bellows forth a challenge and many heads can be seen to swivel forth to him from the undead, the thralls and among the snakemen. From down here the area appears vaguely oval shapped.
Llvenoc takes a place behind the three moving forward looking for a opening to move toward the goddesses manacled form, sheilding his eyes from the bright contrast of the channeled powers of the Uberghoul and the Mummypriest in conflict.
Nebebit, Kemenebi and Fox take places behind the fighter about 10 ft back prepared to assist.
The Uber ghoul is in front of the party to the left; intent upon the Mummy Priest; his shear hunger for death radiates from him in a palpaable aura, behind him; the vampires are getting order among the thralls and ghouls whipping them to attack the party in a rush, they move forward to engage...there are enough of them to easily surround the party unless steps are taken; there are no walls at all and the arching stairway in enteres the part with about 5ft from the rear edge of the platform; it is about 60ft to the other edge and the first pillar that hold one of the runic chains which bind the goddess.
The Jewel stays on the arched entrace and casts a wall of fire in an attempt to seal the snakemen from advancing.

Any other first round action; post them; otherwise; second round actions are up:

I grit my teeth seeing the damage done by Astinos challenge. We can't afford to fight a war of attrition. As the undead surge forward to corral us my muscles tense waiting for my opportunity to bolt toward the Goddess. The sacrifices of so many will not be in vain....
Fox of Silver |
Fox will just move this round, readying herself to stop and fire at any creatures attempting to come around the warriors.
Mindlink "Kemnebi, do you have a wall spell or grease handy? I did not think to prepare it, but it would be useful to slide those dead ones into the lava. Or at least prevent them from coming around the warriors."

Sorry! RL stinks! ;P (helps if I could stop losing my dots too!) :)
'Wha? No, No grease, I can stun them with a rainbow spell at close range (Color spray) I can do that all day, I have a wand. I can make Llevinoc Fly if he'll stand still long enough for me to cast it! I can conjure monsters to aid in the fight, Or I can keep blasting individuals,...'
Valegrim |
Kemnebi; you should realize that a color spray will be useless against undead but likely still work on the thralls; just saying.
Sorry! RL stinks! ;P (helps if I could stop losing my dots too!) :)

Valegrim |
Astinios; you have just decended the ramp with the rest of the party and are facing the undead on thier platform; facing you is a diefic looking ghoul; three vampires hide behind him; the ghouls has his holy symbol out and a dread looking plague sword and is emiting darkness which is battling back the light from the mummy cleric's holy symbol from behind you, with the darkness the ghoul is emitting; the vampire are coming out from behind him and directing the human thralls to attack the party.
Kosan bellows:
"make a line ta clear the way fer LLvenoc ta sprint over to the chained up chick. <to the chained goddess> "Dont fear lady; weez here ta rescue you"
<The goddess winks> "are not thee a bit short for a Stormhold Trooper?"
Kosan: "What? I am here with these guys; we are here to rescue you, I am here with this paladin and that mummy and these elves and cats"
<the Goddess sighs, still fighting the Snake god's attack> " not to be critical, valient dwarven trooper, you must all be braver than you look, <the tunnel behind you collapses in another quake> "When you came in here; did you have a plan to escape?"
Kosan: "hey, I am just the muscle; <points at Llukvenoc, he's the brains"
Kosan: "Astinos; get up here next to me; Durr next to him; you both about 5 foot apart; we gotta hold these guys while Llvenoc runs past; you casters; 5ft back and hold the gaps so none get behind us.
The Skeletal warrior who leads the mummies gaurd; charges forward into the Ghoul; and the two of them go at; their skill far beyond anything any of youi have seen before; attacking each other in a whirling frenzy of death; the superghoul is stronger; not much, as the skeleton takes little damage from plauge or a cutting edge.
A tall moutain goat made of ruby color takes place next to Durr, it is bigger than he is....and bleats out a charge.
so, by initiative order; Kosan and Astinos face a vampire and two thralls; durr faces and the goat face three thralls; they press forward like a wall of death. Two skeleton guards are next to the goat and two skeltons are to the right of Kosan flanking their skeletal captain; thrall rush them; the third vampire rushes a skeleton gaurd to kosans right; the Master vampire is still some 70 ft away working his part of the ritual.
PC's have initiative. Astinos; you might want to remind players of your auras effect.
Llvenoc; with the line the party has made, provided they follow Kosan's instructions, you will be able to run forward and depending upon how you do it; avoid most attacks of oppurtunity as long as the party members dont go down. With your spider climb; you figure it will take rounds of move actions to get to the goddess if you run along the massive chain.
Llvenoc |
I wave my hand saying, "These are not the Dark Elves you are looking for."
Seriously though.
I stare down the line looking at the opening that was made. Seeing the weight of numbers behind the Thralls, I know the hole won't last for long. My legs spring forward as I make my move to rescue the Goddess.
d20=17+not sure if it would be balance or climb. +6 for balance + 9 for climb. =23 or 26
Using my spider climb I run up the back and Kosan, and then Astinos, and start striding on the heads and shoulders of the enemy toward the giant chain. Hoping that surprise will be on my side. Safeguarding me from the majority of harm. Hoping that Divine Blessing in the form of a Mirror Image and skill will carry me the rest of the way.
Save the Earth Mother, or don't come back at all.
Kemnebi 'Djal Ibenbast' |
As the dark elf leaps forward, Kemnebi jumps himself, spiting a string of mystic syllables and slapping a hand on Llivenoc's shoulder as he dashes past.
"Hey Llivenoc! Take a flying leap! Seriously!" He calls after the fleet-footed elf.
'Tis a fly spell! Go save her! We'll deal with these corpses with delusions of afterlife!' He ads through the mental link as he moves into position next to Fox and nebibit.
Cast FLY on Llivenoc, (if he doesn't resist it)And move to defend the other casters/clerics with my staff till my next turn to cast.
Astinos |
With a roar of exhultation Astinos stands beside Kosan, his spear dancing forward to plunge into the vamipire facing him.

Astinos; the evil of this sanctum is very strong; the evil of this place nearly overwhelms you senses; the ghoul is radiating an aura of evil as is the Master Vampire as well, the area is still considered evil.
the Vampires eyes open wide as he is enexpectedly wounded with great gashes opening on him and much of his stolen blood spilling forth. he turns vaporous and retreats through the ranks.; good shot.
Within Astinos' aura all allies have +4 to saves vs fear effects and aura counts as zone of Good, countering evil area.

The zombies and thralls attack; ugh; impotent round for the GM.
Durr takes a little damage; attacks a thrall, the other skeletal warriors attack thralls and zombies. The war goat statue crushes a zombie; with bits of rotted flesh still stuck to its horns.
a magic hammer appears above Nebebit; then floats over to a vampire and and bonks him on the head for a little damage as she swings her arm.
Kosans attacks make the vampire he was facing withdraw as well and his gaseous form moves through the crowd; a very agile zombie takes his place; attacks three times but cannot score a hit.
The Skeletal Warrior is loosing ground to the Epic Ghoul; but his boney body has good damage resistance to blades; the ghouls is just a nightmare. The Skeleton attacks the ghoul 4 times, his weapons doing light damage; the ghouls attacks back eight times with tremendous blows.
Llvenoc advances to the tower and up to the chain; imagine it as a battlship chain with 4ft long links of strange dull black metal straight from the Abyss. From your vantage point; you can see the whole area fairly well: nn the distance you can see the Dark Elf Archmagus calling forth oddly mishappens flying creatures through is portal to realms unknown; these thing hideous and twisted with cruel dark menace; and by your guess; they seem to have heard Astionos' call and are heading his way; you estimate; 3 rounds, there are 12 of them; on the other side, you see the Master Mind Flayer has summoned 5 Grells, flying tenticled creatures that sometimes haunt the Underdark and said to be ancient allies of the Old Ones left from battles long ago. Astinos also has 3 of their attention; but they fly slower, bit like a gas cloud of tentacled death; you figure 5 rounds. Also from your vantage point; you can see Snake Men Abomination trying to move through the wall of fire; but 30 foot of heat is to much for them and they fall back; thier magic users begin casting stones on the abominations for them to try again; probably some heat protection, but it will take a couple rounds.
------
ok; new round.
Fox of Silver |
Sounds good.
Fox moves up behind the dwarven warrior and casts her spell on the ghoul's holy symbol.
Damage 8d6 + 3 vs holy symbol, Fortitude DC 18 half damage
Just checking to make sure this post didn't get missed; I know we've been a little sketchy lately and I missed a confirmation.
Llvenoc |
Seeing the mishappen forms emerging from some near forgotten nether region. Along with tentacled beasts with beaks akin to some twisted parrot. It reminds me of an old Dark Elfin saying. Be careful for what you wish for.
In the Mindlink: "Astinos your bellowing has attracted company."
I could say more, but figure it gets the point across. I keep moving toward the Goddess up the chain.
We have so little time.

I got it; no worries; have it factored in.

PC actions; top of new round.....keep in mind the great evil aura of this pit of evil and the blinding like a arc welder of the clash of the Superghoul and the Mummy priest channeling raw power that leaves spots on your eyes if you look that way and as it suddenly stops; the new sensation of dark with reddish glow from the lava below you. Also; anyone without heat resistance would begin feeling quite warm and will soon need to make exhaustion checks without aid.
Valegrim |
Llvenoc; from your high vantage point; more of the shape of this area becomes known to you.
There are six concentric rings or layers or levels of chanting evil beings.
There are eight massive chains binding the goddess holding her aloft in an evil girdle what has many horrific images and carvings.
Fox of Silver |
Valegrim |
fox; it is your best bet to hit one of the retreating vampire Captains; they have been gravely wounded and only magic can hit them in gaseous form; if you do enough damage; it could kill them or keep them from forming for a good long time. They are the ones driving the thralls and such to attack; with them gone; it may be possible to break the thralls morale; depending upon whom the tralls are beholden to.

No - it's a ranged touch attack, so their AC is their save, sort of. It is subject to Spell Resistance, if that applies.
Scorching Ray
Evocation [Fire]
Level: Sor/Wiz 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: One or more rays
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes
You blast your enemies with fiery rays. You may fire one ray, plus one additional ray for every four levels beyond 3rd (to a maximum of three rays at 11th level). Each ray requires a ranged touch attack to hit and deals 4d6 points of fire damage.
The rays may be fired at the same or different targets, but all bolts must be aimed at targets within 30 feet of each other and fired simultaneously.
