It wasn't particularly exciting as I wasn't sure what I needed to do, but here's what I posted.

Seeing that everything has been turned around I move into the main chamber looking for the best path to get to the Earth Godess.

When she realizes that they can see and hear through the mask, Fox will start scanning the area to give them the largest field of vision she can. If we get 'flipped' by Kemnebi's spell during this, she will turn around so they can see into the next chamber, or as well as she can, anyway.

Assuming she can communicate with them by thinking, she will try to do so:

My friends, the Goddess of Earth herself is bound and captive in the next room. The vile rite you here is being used against her in some fashion - to wound her beloved earth if not against her directly, I think. If you are forbidden to come, my elven compatriot, what aid are you able to send? My power is slight yet and I still don't know the capabilities of my mask in such a dire situation...

Knowledge. I need knowledge! This horrific rite of which you speak - does it require many casters? A web of casters? What will be necessary to end it prematurely and would doing so damage those participating? Can I/we use their own terrible efforts against them?

ok; when you round the corner and look; or anyone does.

the first thing you notice is that this room is really really hot, the smell of brimstone <sulphur> is prevalent. This 300' diameter room is conical like a step flowerpot, but inverted where the large opening is at the bottom. The very bottom level below you is a lake of lava, swirling in bright and dark masses. The step walls are each 20' high to the next level; each level is an open gallery where hundreds of snakemen who look very human, but your eleven eyes can pick out their reptilian nature. So, with 6 levels, you quickly guess about 1000 snakemen, wearing red and black robes with mystic snake symbolsw, all chanting some dark rite. You are at the base of what perhaps amounts to a leg of a table; but instead of a leg; it is a stone archway that leads up the the central table top. This tabletop has four such stone archways, much like legs that lead up to the tabletop; you are at one corner on one leg.

up on the table top itself you notice a central feature. There is a large 40' central circle cut out of the stone and there are six grotesque sculpted arms that are evenly spaced around the central circle. Each of these arms has a large metalish circle on which attached is a great mystical chain. To these six chains are affixed a very beautiful, yet distraught, 25' tall woman. The aura around her tells you that this is indeed the goddess you are looking for....

The room is both dark and bright; shadows abound and there is some murk hanging in the air. From the arms to which are attached the chains, there is also swirls of magic power and at random intervals; black lightening strikes the goddess and she squirms in agony shaking the chains; massive chains even a peronage of her stature cannot break.

[spoiler] ESO responds: very interesting, basically you only have but a few options. Kill all the chanters to disrupt the power flowing from them, if you cannot kill almost all of them at once; I suggest you leave them alone, for there power is needed to keep the diety bound thus they cannot fight. If what ever other action you do breaks their discipline and they stop chanting; so much the better, perhaps not for you, but for the world or at least the Grecian penninsula.

Your second option is to break yon stone platform; for it is the binding circle that holds all the hundreds of years of stored magic from the vile, ophidian rites.

You could also break each of the chains; or at least enough of the chains that the diety can stand; it is because she is suspended in air that she is powerless, though that is an educated guess as I cannot see the binding circle, but it is reasonable; an earth diety suspended out of her element. Very clever of these ophidians.

I suggest that you find he who directs the circles power; the central wizard or priest; he needs must be close to the circle itself and will probably have several favored pupils as guards as well who was well act as buffers to handle the rites wild surges of magical power.

beware the lava; not only is it a churning mass of heat; there is something in there; I suggest you not stay long in that room for a I believe that to be the worst thing imaginable; the long arm of one of the sleeping Elder Unspeakables whose slumber is at best uncertain. This is probably the central power core that the snakemen has tapped for this binding. The necromatic power in this room is staggering; perhaps millions have died upon that table to summon the Beast, their souls fed to feed it's insatiable hunger.

Hurry and know that all is not lost; many champions battle on the surface to give you time to fulfill your task; but you must hurry; we know not how long until the Unspeakable reaches up and devours the goddess.

Aahz: this looks fun; wow; such pagentry; this is much better than the evil rite I saw down south where they are chanting with one of the snake gods over some giant man statue holding an immense pink crystal cut in so many facets it is blinding to look at; I wonder how many facets there are; still do; but anyway; this rite is much creepier.

No, wait, the world isn't spinning. It's done now. It's only him that's spinning. He plants his staff on the ground to prevent him from completely falling over.

"Whoa. Did anyone get the number of that carriage?" he quips bravely (and slurrily) as he tries to focus his blurry eyes.

"WHoa! Oz! Trying to move you is like trying to move a mountain! That is seriously wicked cool!" Kemnebi grins as he starts to get his bearings. Then he notices that his back is to where they have been trying to get to. he quickly turns around (and almost falls down again) and peeks in the door way over Fox's shoulder.

"Oh. Wow. That is a LOT of casters. And snakes. WHY did it have to be snakes!?!" He grumbles groggily.

"Necromantic energy out the keister. Very dangerous. You go first." He says to Fox straight-faced.

Sorry! I've got Indiana Jones on the brain today! ;P

"Um,... I'm fresh out of spells that can be measured in megatons. Do YOU have any bright ideas Fox?"


Fox relays what she's learning from the other mages via the mindlink.

"I've let the mages of the Order that would look see through my eyes and hear through my ears."

"They think if we can break the platorm, it will weaken or break their bonds on her. If we can break enough chains that she can stand, her natural strength from touching the Earth will probably help her.too."

"But ultimately, we must find the one directing the power of the circles. The central spellcaster - he must be close to the circle and will probably have several pupils as guards."

"And stay away from the lava - there's something vile in the lava. It's probably a major part of the power that the ophidians use to bind the goddess. If we take too long, it's liable to reach forth and literally consume her."

I don't know if Fox is able to see the same stuff as Llvenoc from where the spell deposited her. If not, she moved to allow the mages in her head to see what the party is up against. I'm guessing this concentration and movement and what have you will have used up her actions for the round.

The fox-faced mage doesn't even register Kemnebi's comments until after she's recited her information above. Then she looks at the cat-mage - spoken "wha? I'm sorry, I wasn't completely here." She looks back into the snakepit, mindlink for to everyone "I do not know what Llvenoc intends, but we need to find the one in charge. Harassing him into breaking concentration or killing his aides so he has to handle all the feedback himself may be our best bets - I have nothing to impact the chains nor the platform."

I also have a bag of fresh earth that I carried from her brothers Temple Mount to spread upon her to give her strength. I will have a rope tied around her, and myself to one of the chains. In case the the center part collapses. If she falls, I fall."

"Sounds like a distraction for the central caster is still the way to proceed. Where is he?"

Kemnebi looks around, but the huge scale of the place, and the minor distraction of ALL the chanting snake-mages, makes it impossible for him to see who, or what, might be the leader.

Mindlink 'I don't see, I don't where the leader is in all of this. But If Llivenoc needs to get up there, then let's find a way to get him there!'

Enlarged tp 10 ft Hight and Str of 25, 29 with gauntlets. Str Adj = +9. Can reach to 1 Extra Hex to Hit.

Mages to Fox and take out the chief mage and his retinue even if you have to disintegrate the floor at their feet to cast them down to lose their concentration. Fighters block for Llevonic so that he can free the goddess. No one gets out of here with a spell unused or a weapon not raised in defense of the Goddess. Bring this mountain down if needed but stop this ceremony NOW.

Does there appear to be a way onto the platform from where we are at?

Everyone in the hall use your best roll of dodge or run or athletics or applicable to get out of the hallway; the only place to go is up the ramp or in the lava so pick one.

Thanks, Val! OK, the newbie has questions again. Just to make sure, we're using the 3.5 progression, right? If so, that amount of xp would move me from 6th to 8th level. How does this affect spellcasters regarding their new spells? Do we just get the spell slots or can we say we filled them at the last rest, etc.?

the way I play it, you can gain all the increase in spells you already know; so if your level says you gain a first, second; third an fourth; and you already know 1-3 you can gain those; but you need some training on fourths before your proffiecient at them. This is the same for warriors and the like who gain new skils and THACO. Also, there is a rule that you can only to to top of next level. Once your 12 level you no longer needed to train as your a named level and no longer a Hazard Class hero.

I am going to wave all this for the online game which takes long enough already.

so, basically you get the new spell slots, but would need to rest and recover to get everything back. if this only changes your character, then we will just go on normal and to fill those out you need to rest. If several characters are in this predicament (they need to chime in) we will make this like a video game save point where everyone can have an instant nights recovery.

as for your guard/companion; he gets awarded half your exp value (no cost you you), I will update his sheet.

So it sounds like:
For my new warmage slots, they would be available and I could cast using them; since I don't gain spells as I level up, just gain the ability to cast spells I've already been trained with, I should be OK for spells learned (unlike if I was a sorcerer or bard needing to learn new spells)
For my new wizard slots, I'll have the bump in caster level like normal, but I won't have any new wizard spells or be able to put anything in the new slots until I rest.

I'll start leveling up (or making notes, anyway) with this in mind. If we have to change it because of the number of characters it affects, I can always burn the notes - I won't make them official until I have final word from you.

Updated my paper copy of the Character Sheet. No major changes, just more hit points, change in thaco, saves, and more skill points. Though I did get a duplicate feat with my prestige class vs a feat I have already taken. So do I just eat it Val, or can I pick a new feat that I can use?

In the Astral and Ethrael spheres; in the Upper Realms and Lower realms and even out to the edges of the Elemental planes does the cosmos shudder for one restless moment that seems to last and eternity as it seems the very glue that holds reality together shifts in its awful slumber.

The Gods of Law meet in a summit on the outer rim of the Concordant Opposistion hosted my Thoth; there they weigh the cosmos and seek a solution to appease the Mi'Khael who has come bearing the Sword of Destruction and Chalise of Eternity.

Gods of Good and Nuetrality who appose restrictive law; yet are against forces of devastating Evil and overwhelming Chaos meet in the Celestial Elesium Fields at the foot of Mount Olympus to enact their plan of point and counterpoint to all incursions, but with many of thier number missing and distracted by worldy concerns.

In the depths Demon Lords and Devil Princes escallate into full scale wars...all but the Iron Duke who never leaves his Citadel; whispers of the coming of some great overmaster of Evil and the return of the Old Ones has shaken each of the lower powers into action, even rash action pouring forth mobs and legions of incarnate evil upon the many prime material planes as well as between lower realms.

I would like to stay on track with the intent of the feat line to allow you to shoot in difficult situations; like combat; how about we improve this one to still shoot while grappled/overborn or something like that?
Any ideas?
