Kemnebi 'Djal Ibenbast' |
BTW, Out of town this weekend (Stage COmbat Workshop) from Th till Sun. See you all when I get back, Happy Easter! :)
Kem already had his long-running protections up, (Mage Armor, Prot/Evil,
Kemnebi nods in silent acknowledgment of Fox as his fingers pull material components from various pouches,...
Waiting for my turn,... :)

on 13 the Abomination charge; they appear clumsy as if not really used to moving on two legs. Their charge ends at the spell area, slipping and sliding and falling down. There are 5 abomination in this group; the sheer mass of them drives the first couple past the spell area; they are currently prone; but not helpless.

Sorry Vale, been crazy at work/home, then lost my dots and missed this one! ;P
Remind me, who are we trying to get to the captive to free her? The dwarf or the dark elf? I have a little spell that might help,... :)
Kemnebi sends a barrage of force bolts into one of the creatures struggling to rise in the greased area with a casual flick of his wrist.
Magic Missile, 5 bolts 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 1, 4) + 5 = 14
"Good! Slow them down! Get them to come at us single file if you can! I have a spell or two that'll surprise them!" Kemnebi cries with a smile. Hathor sits on his shoulder, claws digging into the fabric of his robe as he purrs into his ear, her tail twitching as if pointing things out to him.
'Llivinoc! I need to touch you to cast a spell on you! It will allow you to defy gravity while you work on the chains, but I'll have to direct your movement!' He sends through the link now busy with the clamor of battle-thoughts.
Valegrim |
As far as plans I am aware of; the dark elf is hte prime; but if you look out at the pic I sent out; it may take several people depending upon how you go about it; I think the plan was for the warriors to cut a path and hold off everyone so the dark elf can get through and use his item he thinks will break the chains.

"Well, casters, most of my magic targets individuals. We need to coordinate to get the best coverage. Have you many spells that target several?"
I don't know that Magus Kalan or the High Priest responded.
Looking toward the undead spellcasters, "If I may, what sort of magicks do you employ? Are they effective against the snakes? One or many? I don't wish to waste our resources, but we need to know what those resources are."
"Warriors, can you defeat these abominations? Should we marshal our magic until the greater fight to come?"

I stab the closest prone abomination with both swords, hoping to inflict sneak attack damage.
Attack roll 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, damage roll: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, sneak damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9
Attack roll 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26, damage roll: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, sneak damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17

Attack roll 1: 1d20+6, damage roll: 1d6+3, sneak damage: 3d6
Attack roll 2: 1d20+6, damage roll: 1d6+2, sneak damage: 3d6
The second attack appears to possibly be a critical, so following is the critical confirmation roll and damage:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Valegrim |
Make a stealth roll for your sneak attack to see if they are unaware of you; they are distracted so should be easy.

"hmm, interesting proposition; attack without much sound; death without boom; how about this my sweet"
he wirls his hands and blows a greenish purple powder from his skeletal palm
the lich casts his spells fairly unconcerned about those in front of him; but his targetting is smooth; Astinos and Caerwyn please roll a reflex save.
A green mist of sparks appears in front of the party upon the snakes and begins drifting away from the party at a slow pace; the green mist seems to eat away at the flesh and gear of the snakes and anyone caught inside; it also seems to be thick an muffle sounds; you cannot easily see through this noxious vapors; a some of the snakes hiss and caugh.
"ah, pity; they are stronger than I anticipated and still live."
Valegrim |
The greenish mist just misses Astinos; who is in the lead after stabbing an Abomination. The bag guys have a bad time of it as the gas cloud sweeps over them ,but they still have some fight in them.
They expend their actions moving toward the party and recovering from slipping and the fumes of the spell..

Ok; new round; top of the round for initiatives.
Five wounded,enraged Abominations in the hallway; two can fit wide in this hall; or 4 wide for melee human sized people.
let me know by number which you attack; Astinos attacked the lead one which I am naming #1, but you can call with Swill Riker if you want :)

Initiative Roll: 14 (1d20) + 7 = 21
I Slice at the abomination furthermost out of the Slippery spell (that slid rough it)
Round 2:
AC with shield = 29.
I have the feat: Tunnel Fighting (no Minus for fighting in enclosed or tight areas to Attack or AC).
My initiative is 21.
Hit #1 (Axe side):
18 (1d20) + 8 (Base Atk) + 9 (Mod) + 1 (axe Focus feat) + 2 (they are CE) + 5 (Bless from Horus) + 2 (me and Abominations are touching the ground) = 38.
Damage: 7 (1d10) + 9 (Mod) + 9 (5 and 4 2d6 they are CE) + 2 (me and Abominations are touching the ground) = 27.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hit #2 (Axe side):
15 (1d20) + 3 (Base Atk) + 9 (Mod) + 1 (axe Focus feat) + 2 (they are CE) + 5 (Bless from Horus) + 2 (me and Abominations are touching the ground) = 30.
Damage: 6 (1d10) + 9 (Mod) + 10 (6 and 4 2d6 they are CE) + 2 (me and Abominations are touching the ground) = 27.
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Been crazy busy.
I level my hand crossbow to squeeze off two more shots into the abomination when I see the quite comical scene of Astinos sliding by with explictives when he reachs the grease. While I am able to resist the urge to laugh. I find I can't help myself, but have to smile. Completely forgetting about the fact I am in a life or death combat. It dawns on me that The Jewell had quite convincingly won our wager. Proving to me yet once again that my optimism of the human condition is over rated. I sigh with the realization that my false hopes cost me a platinum. I casually drop the coin into her purse. Watching the snakemen float aloft in the green mist, and watch it eat there flesh brings me back to the direness of our situation.
I plug to shots into the living abomination that is still airborne.
d20=10+13+1+1=25, d20=15+8+1+1=25, forget the prone bonus. Damage d4=4+1+d6=3+5=13, d4=1+1+d6=3+5=10
Love the EQ Green Mist reference Val.
Fox's eyes are visibly wider behind her mask. "Very impressive! We must be careful not to kill our allies - the objective is some distance away, yet."
What is the status and position of the abominations? Fox is inclined to have the spellcasters save their spells against these foes unless it appears that the melee fighters need the boost. Methinks there will be sufficient targets for all shortly...
Valegrim |
One Abomination is down; several are somewhat wounded from the spell; but your not sure how much; the one behind the abomination that fell now has two xbow bolts in it.
"Caerwyne" says Ahzz "come with me, lets sneak behind all of them and make sure none run back to alert others; then both of us can sneak attack; then when it turns round, we trick it; and so on. what do you think, I am pretty sure I can get us behind them. I know a little phasing trick; just hold me hand and dont let go; want to try?"
Valegrim |
The undead priest motions for his guards to hold and protect the Artifact. He lifts his holy symbol; a True Anhk. He speaks a word,
<gm makes several rolls for saves> nothing appartently happens this round.
unless Llvenoc affirms a negative response; Kenembi casts his spell as stated beforehand on Llvenoc.
Astinos |
Golden light radiating from the holy warrior, Asinos trikes thhe first abomination to advance A roar of battle fury erupting as he strikes with remarkable skill.
Att 11d20 + 32 ⇒ (10) + 32 = 42
Mindlink "Actually, if he were mad, he might lose control - and you might stand a chance. Keep your eyes open for threats getting past the warriors, but hold your magic until it will have the greatest effect. We don't want to waste our resources on the first foe, but we don't want to die with spells not cast, right?"
ok; nothing happens, apparently, from drinking the potion as your natural dwarven magic resistance drains it of magic; it is percolating in your stomach; maybe doesnt mix well with beer...
so; do you attack?
Valegrim wrote:20 percent chance it will fail; roll something and let me know.1-20 on D100 it does not work. Rolled 72 on D100. Will look up the effects.
I don't understand why a roll of 72 out of 100 is a failure on a 20% miss chance regardless of whether you take the high 20 or the low 20...
Ok; round three. (I never got a response from the rogue about following Aahz's madcap plan of heroic proportions)
----------------
The Abomination snakes continue to advance as they are nearly mindless in their rage.
By initiative then; remember; the grease on the floor and walls is still in effect so let me know if you intend to advance into this area or stay back from the edge of that spell.
now your even taller than the Abominations; also you gain the ability to fight an additional hex away from you, if we were fighting on hex paper.
